I saw that. I'll be surprised if anyone watches it. And this kind of thing just encourages here. I wish TLC would realize the Gosselins are over and done (as a TV show) and move on. How much money can they possibly be making from these occasional shows?

As long as they are pulling in a million viewers (ratings from the 40th birthday bash) and they have sponsors, they are making money. It will be interesting to see the ratings from next week's sextuplet's party. The ratings from the rehash show were not good, but they did pick up for the Mexico episode.

A million viewers is not good. It's in the barely tolerable range for TLC. If she can't do better than that, she won't be around a lot.

And half of those are probably TVs that are on but everyone left the room!

Eleven isn't even a landmark birthday. I guess they don't dare wait until they turn 13 and risk everyone forgetting about them.

Just watched it, and there was little noteworthy, positive or negative, BUT there was a moment that made me flinch and then cry. All the kids were given some money to go shopping for her at the village. Colin fell in love with a Mom and Cub bear statue that was over twice his budget, and after pulling some heartstrings the vendor let him have it at the steep discount. When he gave it to her, she looked annoyed, and didn't "get it"... he said, "It's me and you" and she said, "Where are the other five?", cut to interview scene, where she talks about how Colin's gift was weird and later said, "Overall" the gifts were nice, clearly implying that not all of them pleased her.

TLC must be making money from these shows, even if the ratings appear to be low. The network certainly isn't continuing to film because it loves Kate and is doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. If there's no money to be made, then they will discontinue filming. They won't keep producing a show that will put them in the red.

The numbers were so bad that it didn't even make the top 100 cable shows of the day.

No, TLC shows don't pay residuals.
