I can not stand Bethenny, nor Kate. But they have a lot of things in common. They both are fake, phony and narcissistic. I haven't watched Bathenny's show since it started. But if Bethenny is going to grill Kate to see where her money went, I just might watch it.

Kate's not going to answer that question. It was just a teaser. She'll say "um," and probably something like she put it away for college and then deflect and go off on something else.

Michelle (not Duggar) said...

She said she put it away for college. What? I thought the state of PA already paid for that. She said she had a tummy tuck...but wasn't that donated? Can't she come up with a better lie? We know it takes a lot of money to feed and take care of a family of 10 (or 9), but we know that much of the clothing, diapers, food, etc. was donated - at least early on. She didn't mention the million dollar mansion, though, or all of her globetrotting since the end of the show. It was just Kate being Khate...

Elvira said...

The state of Pennsylvania did not pay for college accounts. Savings accounts were set up so that people could donate if they wished. She'll probably only ever admit to the tummy tuck because it was shown on TV. It's obvious she's had other work done.

Kate did not look good on Bethenny. She looked very worn and weathered, yet her face was taught & without movement, like someone was pulling the sides with strings. She had red blotches on her neck and upper chest, maybe IMO she was anxious from lying. She answered the money/plastic surgery question with the tummy-tuck, which according to the special they filmed was donated, but she did not say that, she only said yes that she had a tummy-tuck. It was annoying when she said wearing name brands wasn't that important to her, when all she wears IS name brands...even to go out running she is in top-of-the-line athletic wear in premium brands (no old t-shirt & shorts like other "normal" moms), not to mention all the other stuff she wears daily. I do believe Kate AND Jon (not just her personally, like SHE said) put money into college funds for all the kids. Whether there's one for each kid or just one big fund who knows, but that's why IMO she's desperate for any dollar she can get, because whatever wasn't put into their schooling was, and still is, being spent on shoes, tans, hair and nails. I don't think it's possible for her to fathom having to give that up.

Judge Judy says that when people lie, there chest turns red. That probably is what was happening with Kate. I didn't get a chance to see Bethanny's show today, but would love to hear what people are saying about it.

So is Kate's book tour over? I was just reading where people are saying that Kate never wrote the cookbook, but had a ghost writer write it.

Judge Judy says that when people lie, there chest turns red.

------------

She may say that, but it's not necessarily true. It's actually fairly common. Chests can get blotchy and red due to nerves. When you get nervous or excited, your heart rate speeds up which sends more blood to various areas of the body. Adrenaline is sometimes blamed for it. Some people break out in blotches on their legs when they are nervous.

I remember that once during a school play, my neck and chest were on fire with blotches. Unfortunately, I was wearing a white strapless dress at the time. There was no hiding the blotches. It was embarrassing.

It's a PA529. There's a website if you want to know more about it. The state set it up; people were welcome to contribute. At one time the funds had to be used to attend a state college in PA. All of that has been changed.

If the publisher funded the tour. Depending on the contract and what "plan" she took out when she signed up with them, she may be spending her own money on the tour and they couldn't care less.

One of the comments on the Barnes and Noble site, states that Kate's cookbook is full of "wonderful and healthy recipes". I truly believe that all of her fans are delusional. How can they say that a recipe calling for soup that is saturated with sodium is healthy? Or that box macaroni and cheese is healthy? When will Kate's fans wake up and face reality?

Kate posted a pic of the girls bday cake (actually 2 cakes side by side)...I'm assuming she made the cakes? Looks like the same cake she made for the sextuplets birthday a couple years ago. The chocolate frosting looks all glopped on, and what's with the gummy candy decorations (again?) And using the numeral candles was the same thing she did on the other kids chocolate bday cake also. Sorry, but it looks like she was in a big hurry and did nothing special for their 13th bday. She looks like she's just trying to appease her "fans" by posting a pic...who even knows if she was actually home yet or not.

I thought Steve played a duel role of manager/security. It's pretty common for....lets call them "lower tier entertainers" to have someone in that role. I have a friend that is a singer and when she does a tour (club curcuit) she travels with one. Their primary purpose is to be a manager (make/confirm bookings, accomidations, interviews, etc) but the have the brawn/background to serve as security, if something were to happen. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought I heard Steve took this role for Kate after the show ended.

Kate was on the Chris and Steve show in Canada yesterday.
She demonstrated how to make guacamole and her birthday cake which was already mixed to go.
These were from her *fabulous* (not) cookbook.
I was watching the audience when they panned across and one woman was actually frowning, no smile, nothing.
As usual, the dig against Jon came up when asked if she will date.
"The kids are always asking" said Kate "they want a stable relationship around the house and for me but I just haven't time to find anyone, I am so busy with eight kids and I do not want to bring a bunch of men to them until it is the right one!"
First Kate, you would have to find a *bunch* of men who would have you and secondly, don't you already have a stable figure around the house?"

The book is self-published, which means that any money spent on her book tour is coming directly out of Kate's pocket. It's obvious from the Toronto Star interview that Kate's only reason for publishing the book and doing the tour is because she hopes it will get her another reality show - which she desperately wants.
When is she finally going to realize that it's all over, that her status as a celebrity is in the past and will never return?

Exactly. Keep in mind, Amazon indicates on each review where the reviewer has purchased the item. I frequent Amazon a couple of times a week, and rely on the reviews. Right under the reviewers name, it will say "Amazon Verified Purchase" to indicate the reviewer purchased the book. I see several for Kates book. Depends on how much traffic it brings and how many people click on and actually use the coupons. When a customer clicks through the coupon site to the merchant's site and buys something the coupon site gets a commission for a sale. It could only be a penny or two, or as much as a dollar. It all depends on the merchant. Advertising hits also bring in money for the person maintaining the site.

Jon Gosselin Says His Kids Are Developmentally Behind, Damaged From Growing Up On TV

Former reality TV star Jon Gosselin opens up about the negative aspects of putting his family in the spotlight, and says his eight children have problems developmentally — attributing it to growing up on TV, and RadarOnline.com has all the details.

Kate Gosselin‘s ex filmed a segment with Oprah Winfrey‘s Where Are They Now? on OWN and told the talk show maven that Jon and Kate Plus 8 destroyed his marriage, his reputation, his career and his children.

PHOTOS: Kate Gosselin Through The Years

“I saw my kids not growing up normally, like I grew up, and having community. Yes, they got to travel the world, and yes, they got these fabulous things, and yes, they have trust funds, and they’re taken care of educationally. Great,” he said of his twin daughters Cara and Mady, 13, and the sextuplets Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Alexis, Joel and Leah, 9.

“But developmentally, they have problems with their peers, and they have problems with talking to other people, and they have problems with wants and needs and manners and morals and what’s right and what’s wrong. I think more so than someone who grows up off TV.”

Jon and Kate’s marriage crumbled while the public watched, and the father of eight says he gained an unfair reputation — and never cheated on Kate.

PHOTOS: Kate Gosselin’s 10 Sexiest Bikini Looks!

“The most common misperception [is] that I cheated on my wife, that I left my family, that I’m a party boy,” Jon said. “But my family knows the truth.”

Now 36-years-old, Jon has hit rock bottom, waiting tables at a pub in Pennsylvania and is so fiercely protective of his privacy that he pulled a gun on a sneaky paparazzo allegedly trespassing on his property in September.

As Radar exclusively reported, Jon has a deal in place with a specific photographer in which they will split the profits equally, so when he pulled the gun to warn the photographer about trespassing on his property, he was actually trying to protect his deal.

PHOTOS: Hollywood’s Dirtiest Divorces

“Jon cut a side deal with a paparazzo promising exclusive shots that they can sell and split the profit on,” a source close to the situation told Radar.

“Jon basically said he won’t allow anyone to take his photo without him getting a percentage.”

Still desperate to make ends meet, Jon still wouldn’t turn to the temptations of TV, telling Oprah, “It just became stressful on the kids and stressful on me. You’re trying to keep your marriage together, and you’re trying to keep your family ties together.”

My Response…

November 4, 2013

I find it very heart breaking that my children’s father chooses a public forum to discuss his current opinions of the “development” our children. These opinions are, in reality, value judgements made about our children and they are based on his limited visits (albeit mutually agreed upon) with our children.

Because he has spoken negatively about our children, I feel I owe it to them to respond on their behalf. Each and every one of our children has met and continues to exceed all physical, mental and emotional developmental milestones throughout their lives. Their normal development is regularly monitored by myself, their pediatrician and school staff, as is usual within any family.

It is also very normal in a family, especially a large family, to have a full range of personalities, abilities, talents, hobbies and struggles. Ours is no different. However, anyone who has personally met our children all have the same thing to say: they are the most normal, pleasant, polite, loving and well adjusted children they have ever met. Most even go on to say that they are a “a delight” to be around.

When our kids grow up, they may see their father’s latest interview and wonder why he made untrue and hurtful statements about them. I know that I risk stirring up an unwanted public and private “frenzy” by commenting on this, but, if our children ever stumble upon that interview, I want to be able to point them to this statement so that they know that I publicly set the record 100% straight on this one, for their sake.

Kate doesn't allow the children the normal activities that would allow them to mature naturally. The TV show compounded the problem, but being regimented by Kate and controlled by her narcissistic tendencies doesn't allow for a normal home life.

No Kate, you proffered YOUR VIEW of the situation. The "record" will play out in the future when the kids get their say.

Yes I did watch the Jon Gosselin thing. I thought Jon was very sincere. I think that he is right that his children do have problems. We all saw it on the show. Kate can deny it all she wants but the truth is the truth. Kate feels like she should get special treatment because she was on TV so her kids think that too. I remember when she tweeted that one of the twins forgot her essay paper at home and she texted Kate so Kate could take a picture of it and text it back to her so she can show the teacher. That made me so mad. There are probably many kids that don't have phones at the school so why is o.k. for Kate's kids to do it. If my kids forget their homework they turn it in late and it gets docked. I'm trying to teach them responsibility unlike Kate. I really don't think Kate has a clue.

I agree with Jon, and I believe he was sincere. We do in fact believe the kids have problems, although Kate would not dare to even suggest it-every interview is the kids are great, they're doing awesome, etc. Even if there was a certain issue (like back when a couple of them were having trouble at school, it's totally downplayed and blamed on someone/something else.)
I just wish Jon hadn't given such specific detail about "manners", "morals", not being able to communicate with people, etc. That level of detail gave all the critics exactly what they needed to accuse him of exploiting the kids. The kids continue to be dragged through the mud & embarrassed by their own parents. My guess Jon was on a roll of emotion & honesty and prob. didn't intend to give those specifics. He usually speaks pretty carefully about the kids these days, and is not interested in documenting their lives on a money making blog or for product endorsement.

Hoffman talks about Kate's violent and abusive relationship with those beautiful children. We all know it's true. We saw it for ourselves. Not only was Kate violent and abusive to the children, she was violent and abusive to Jon. We also witnessed that on national television also. I sure do hope that Hoffman's book gets released again, and becomes a best seller.

zoey said...

I am disappointed that every one is upset that jon said publicly his kids have developmental issues. reviewing comments, I notice most people agree the kids are developmentally delayed in some way but they are upset that he would "say it out loud" on a public forum.... I have to say he probably isn't allowed to talk to the kids school about the kids progress or lack there of... and even if he could im sure kate would poo poo his concerns. im sure he cant speak to their doctor about his concerns and its obvious Kate would never admit the problems anyway. so, I commend him for going public. perhaps the school will now say to kate.. Oh hey, your soo stand off-ish that we didn't want to mention the following things.. but since your ex-husband seems to be in agreeance here is the list of delays your children have. and by the way why is every one acting like "developmental problems" is taboo.... you cant get the help to correct the problem if you never acknowledge there is a problem.

jennine s said...

I totally agree. I think Jon should write a book, no computer hard drive needed.

sglily said...

Unfortunately the reality is that these people will in fact now always be in the public eye, good or bad, some way or another and because of that, it's all about perception. They can say that they don't care what anyone thinks or what anyone says, but there will be certain people who will always be hanging on their every word to see how quickly it can be interpreted. In Jon's case, it seems he tends to do and speak quite a bit without thinking. Whether it was good for him to give out details or not, all it turns into is dad exploiting the kids, embarrassing them, whatever.
Kate immediately putting out a response is the proof.
Sorry, though, Kate...according to her statement...how can we think that Jon would lie, or essentially just make up, that his kids have these problems? Why would a dad do that, unless of course a dad who makes up lies about his children on national TV in front of millions of viewers just is a really bad parent...we see where this is going, and, yes, Kate as per usual appears to be getting in the last word and IMO is an underhanded & sneaky way of bashing "the dad"...after all, he's making up untrue and hurtful things about their kids?

jennine s said...

Kate needs to "get over" Jon. this will be for her sake and the children.

Beth Anne said...

Re: but they are upset that he would "say it out loud" on a public forum....

I kind of have mixed feelings about it, because anything and everything that Jon says in a public way is fodder for Kate - in terms of giving her content with which to bash him. However, in a larger sense, it is probably a good thing for someone to get an honest message out that being on T.V. can be harmful to kids' development, whether they are in a reality show forum (i.e., the Gosselins) or a scripted show (i.e., Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana).

It's crazy that, even after so many child stars have gone to the dark side and become embroiled in drugs, etc. when older, there are 1000's of parents carting their own young ones off to audition for parts with hopes of becoming the next Hannah Montana or Josh or Drake. If Jon can make one such parent re-think such a life path for his or her child, then perhaps it is all worth it.

On another note, Kate sounds ridiculous with her "absolute" statements...i.e, ALL people who meet my children say they are wonderful, EACH and EVERY one of our children has met and continues to EXCEED ALL physical, mental and emotional developmental milestones throughout their lives. Kate, stop trying to put up a "we're perfect" veneer.

After Kate Gosselin blindsided Jon with a multi-million dollar hacking, wiretapping and identity theft lawsuit, one person has emerged as the key to both side – Hailey Glassman.

The TV dad’s ex-girlfriend was furious when Kate released text messages between her and Jon — shown to the mother of eight in confidence — allegedly proving that he hatched a plan to steal Kate’s computer and give it to author Robert Hoffman to write a scathing tell-all book.

An insider exclusively tells RadarOnline.com that the crux of Kate’s entire lawsuit against Jon lays in the explosive text messages that Glassman is in possession of, and both Jon and Kate’s respective attorneys have been hounding her to participate in the legal battle.

PHOTOS: Hollywood’s Dirtiest Divorces

“Hailey has told Kate’s legal team over and over again that she wants nothing to do with the lawsuit or the Gosselin family and doesn’t want to get involved,” the insider revealed.

“So now Kate’s team is threatening to subpoena her so she will have to testify and submit whatever evidence she has in Kate’s favor, which would be the text messages.”

And it’s not just Team Kate that is after Glassman — Jon’s team has also been in contact.

PHOTOS: Gosselin Kids Get Dramatic Hand-Over From Kate To Jon

“Jon’s attorney has been emailing Hailey since this whole thing started,” the source told Radar.

“She hasn’t responded and doesn’t plan to. Since breaking up with Jon she’s left the Gosselin’s behind her, and that’s exactly where she wants to keep them.”

While Kate may have an unlikely ally in Glassman, Jon argues that all of her claims against him are false and after moving to have the lawsuit dismissed he reached out to his ex out of desperation.

PHOTOS: Kate Gosselin Through The Years

“Jon’s pretty desperate at this point,” the source said.

“His lawyers just want to know everything Hailey has, so they know what they could be up against.”

At this point, Kate has no real proof that Jon and Hoffman “hacked” into her accounts or obtained the information through other illegal avenues, other than the text messages Glassman potentially holds.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
No one is perfect, and in any family kids will develop at different rates and have different problems in life. Imagine the differences in a family of 8 kids. Kate needs to step back to reality.

What I think is weird is that Hailey has kept those texts after all this time? I don't know about anyone else, but I often have to reformat my phone at least once a year, and I lose all the texts on my phone--I don't ever have the need to save them. Maybe she screenshot them for safe-keeping? Money grab, I guess? So tacky.

Anyway, quoting Beth Anne above:

"I kind of have mixed feelings about it, because anything and everything that Jon says in a public way is fodder for Kate - in terms of giving her content with which to bash him. However, in a larger sense, it is probably a good thing for someone to get an honest message out that being on T.V. can be harmful to kids' development, whether they are in a reality show forum (i.e., the Gosselins) or a scripted show (i.e., Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana)."

^ BULLSEYE. My first reaction was that I don't think Jon should put any information out there, for the sake of privacy, but I can understand if it was meant as a warning for other people or families wanting to get their own shows, scripted or reality (...which is also scripted). It's a good lesson for everyone. But will anyone listen?

Can't wait for the tell-all book by either Jon or one of the kids someday. I really loved this family (Sans Kate...), I wish them all the best and for everyone to have a happy, well-adjusted life... but I'd really love to hear what really went down all those years filming, if they ever decide to talk. Just rooting for those kids 100%.

Here is a link to the video of Kate doing her segment on "her" birthday cake you can see in the US as it's posted on the Live Well Network site:

Is this her excuse for making the same old bday cake every year - because it's "tradition"? (Except when the six had the pool party and she (or should I say TLC?) splurged on that custom cake)

There was one episode of the show -- summertime -- when she had all the kids sitting at their little picnic tables doing shapes and colors worksheets. They were starting school soon and clearly didn't have the basics. The only 5 year olds who don't know shapes and colors are those who were never taught. Clearly, mama was waaay too busy with hair and make-up and freebie-choosing to bother teaching them anything.

They all went to pre-school at a church school. Shouldn't they have been taught shapes and colors there?

Easter Seals provides services for physical delays/problems. The kids weren't suspended from junior kindergarten. They were suspended from kindergarten, and by then, I would assume that they were not delayed in terms of physical development. Socially and emotionally, yes; physical, no.

sglily said...

I remember Kate making reference to the six still learning stuff like letter sounds & how to cut with scissors (which I think she said on an episode that their babysitter at the time was the one who actually taught them how to use scissors!) My thinking though is that it wasn't so much academic type stuff, but rather an issue with emotional readiness. Always going here, there, everywhere & surrounded by cameras-ADULTS-with cameras & living in their own little "TV" world, not having much interaction with their actual peers. One of the episodes showing them being dropped off at their church sunday school, they seemed anxious, clingy and whiny (much more than a typical preschooler would be with an hour or so away from mom & dad) and one of the girls got so worked up over the separation she puked...and Kate noted this was a pretty regular occurrence.
...Oh, and what was that about Jon saying hurtful and untrue things about their kids?...

Zoey said...

Poor social skills falls in the category of developmental delay. I was just pointing out her kids are neither socially nor physically perfect. And kate wouldn't have a clue cause she's too far gone to notIce. Really notice, jon on the other hand would know because he doesn't seem to isolate himself from regular people

I always thought she delayed them because they were still filming the show so she needed them home. Isn't Jr K half a day and K a full day?

Not that I question they were developmently delayed. I never saw Kate read a book to them, or do any activities that were educaitonal.

I wondered if Kate's book was self-published. There's a sneak-peek on Amazon so I checked out the publishers. It's Health Communications Inc. and they publish the Chicken Soup books. Not exactly a high-quality publisher but decent enough. They have this on their website:

An HCI book shares the following qualities, which we refer to as HEART:

Healing - The book promotes personal growth and long-term change by offering deep-rooted solutions.

Expert - The author is an expert and bases the book on either experience or extensive knowledge and research.

Affirming - The book has an emotional component that touches readers and its tone is compassionate.

Readable - The book is written in a popular style and is easily accessible to general trade readers.

Timely - The topic is newsworthy and offers something new to readers in terms of content, author or approach.

Kate only meets a couple of those. She has personal experience (those are her kids and she's made the recipes) and it's easily accessible. I doubt you need a dictionary on hand to understand it. Some people might find the photos emotional. But it doesn't offer anything new and or promote long-term growth. I guess they were hoping her name would sell.

Junior K is a mandatory five days of morning classes, with the option to add two, three or five afternoons, so it's possible to have five full days a week. Kindergarten is a full day, five days a week.

With class action suits, it varies. The attorneys could be paid out of any settlement, in which case, it's not coming out of her own pocket directly. I'm not even sure if that case is still alive.

Well I'm definitely convience then they went to pre-K so she would have them available to film. No optional education time if Kate is making the decision. (although I dont doubt some weren't ready for regular K)

According to a people mag interview in 2009 jon made a statement saying "they are 5 yrs old going to pre K which is 3 half days a week...they are doing ore k because they were preemies".
So, to me that statement says they had either a gross motor, fine motor or social delay. Because if your preemie was functioning at 5 yrs old like typical 5 year olds, you wouldn't hold them back.

Liz said...

A couple of thoughts...

- The fact that the worst that came out of having these 6 babies is that one wears glasses is actually quite amazing. No cerebral palsy. No wheelchairs. I don't think she's ever appreciated that fact.

- It wouldn't be at all unusual, under even the best circumstances, for a child born of sextuplets to be delayed in some form or fashion, so to blame Kate for not reading to them or teaching them things is neither here nor there, IMO.

- I believe she delayed the kids going into kindergarten for her own (filming) benefit. They likely would have done just fine, even if not fully prepared.

What Jon was trying to not so gently say is that these kids do and continue to have issues. If you read between the lines his words are pretty strong. He's saying that they don't know how to talk to and deal with other people because, hello - look at their home life with that awful wench. She uses and discards people. She is cold and harsh. She lies. She's cruel. THAT will delay anybody.

Yes, Kate was extremely fortunate that all of the children are basically healthy and none have severious disabilities. However, I believe that Kate did not do age appropriate home educational things such as reading to the kids. That is extremely important. At the same time she deliberately did things to keep the children babyish. I think she did that to try to prolong the show.

It's not a good idea to send kids to a Kindergarten in an academically-advanced school if they aren't ready socially, emotionally, or on the same developmental level as others who would be in that class. Extensive testing would have been done to determine placement level, and it's not fair to the child to place him/her in a class just because his chronological age says that's where he should be. Imagine the struggling just to keep up with his classmates. It can't be "assumed" that he/she would be just fine. What if he weren't? Do you remove him from that class and drop him down a grade? Would the child understand that he isn't as good or smart as his classmates?

Redshirting in that case would be more favorable than having a child being frustrated because he/she just isn't ready for Kindergarten.

Kate Gosselin’s Hearty Meatloaf Recipe from "Love is in the Mix"

Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef
2 eggs
1 cup each finely chopped celery, onion, green pepper, and carrots (use food processor on pulse to chop)
2 cups breadcrumbs
¾ cup shredded or grated Parmesan cheese
¼ to ½ cup ketchup, plus more for squirting on top
2 teaspoons garlic salt
2 teaspoon dried parsley

Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2.Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and divide equally to form two separate loaves. Add a squirt of ketchup to the top of each loaf in a zigzag design, then sprinkle with parsley. I cover the loaves with foil and bake in either a meat loaf pan or a glass bread baking dish for about an hour, or until the juices are bubbly and the center is no longer pink.

3.During the last 15 minutes or so of baking, I remove the foil covering and finish baking uncovered because my family likes the top nice and crunchy.

As I recall it, three of the children were ready for kindergarten and three were not. She chose to keep them together, rather than letting the more advanced ones move ahead.

It would be a tough call for any parent, but I think that the children would have benefited from being treated as individuals.

Kate did in fact seem to keep the kids "babies" (for the show, IMO too)-why in the world would they still be sitting in those wooden highchairs at 7 YEARS old?! Omg-NEVER understood that, never will. Drinking out of sippy & then straw cups way past any other kids their age? Oh right, she didn't want to clean up too much mess? Yikes.
Did she talk about Mady and the kids love of acting, like she did on Steve & Chris where she went on and on saying that they are depleting memory in her computer because of all the video they take of themselves, and actually said the kids still film the show, they just do it on their own now...what? And then bragged about Mady again.
This meatloaf recipe is the most basic meatloaf out there. Just another excuse to get on a TV segment to talk about how much the kids miss the show (which was how many years ago now?)

Had Enough said...

The meatloaf recipe is too basic and boring, and I have never seen a recipe that calls for covering the meatloaf with foil. It seems like covering it with foil, would make it mushy. Kate should have come up with better recipes. Maybe then her cookbook would have sold more copies.

It seems like Kate's recipes I've seen are VERY basic, not very creative and not that interesting. I have seen four-year-olds with more creative recipes. In fact, here is the website for a four-year-old cook where she not only shows you a recipe, she shows you step-by-step in pictures how to make each recipe. She even shows how to make things like lemon chicken and chuck roast in addition to casseroles and desserts. This little girl would be more interesting and fun to watch on the Hallmark Channel than Kate. Here's the four-year-old cook's website:

Just caught a short video and accompanying story about the McCaughey septuplets, who just turned 16! Though the family certainly did a few T.V. specials over the years, I haven't heard or seen them in years. What a good-looking family, and the kids seem so refreshingly NORMAL! They all have different interests and motivations, and they admit to the ups and downs of being in a big family and the annoyance of having cameras follow them.

Kudos to Bobbi and Ken Sr. for keeping their kids out of the spotlight and NOT treating them like they were a circus act. Both parents also hold "regular" jobs - hear that, Kate? The McCaugheys have seemingly done a wonderful job parenting multiples in as normal a way as they possibly could, and their children seem to be thriving because of it. Compare and contrast that to the whacko world of the Gosselin kids (though, admittedly, being out of the spotlight has likely done those kids some good).

sglily said...

I too just saw the clip of the septuplets for their 16th bday. Wow, regular jobs-you bet. I bet Kate will cont. to play the single mom card, but listen up Kate as Kenny & Bobbie are bringing home blue collar paychecks. They told the kids they will need to get jobs to help purchase a car of their own. Kids not sporting L.L. Bean monogrammed backpacks or iphones, but they said there are 3 cell phones on a pay-as-you-go plan with 2 ipads to share. They don't have a mortgage as the community built them their home all as a donation...they've lived in it ever since and prob. will always live in it...see the home? Very modest in decor but very liveable and cozy, nothing fancy. If J & K had bought a home outright there would be no mortgage either, but Kate had to have the million $$ manse "for the kids." She also had to buy herself an Audi and fake nails and tans. I wish there would have been a special on the septuplets for their 16th bday, but the small clip should be more than enough of a message to Kate that yes, it can be done... hopefully at least the general public will get it and go tell Kate to cry a river elsewhere.

When Kate was on the Hallmark show and the host brought up a question about her still trying to be famous and making money off her kids, she looked really mad as the question was being asked, but then as she was trying to answer it she looked & sounded like she was going to start balling any minute, like 'poor me'.

Kate Gosselin Abandons Multi-Million Dollar Hacking & Wiretapping Lawsuit Against Ex-Husband

Posted on Nov 19, 2013 @ 17:57PM | By Dylan Howard

Kate Gosselin has dropped her lawsuit against ex-husband Jon Gosselin, RadarOnline.com has confirmed.

In a sensational move on Tuesday, the former reality television mother dismissed the suit with prejudice against her husband of 10 years, barring her from bringing an action on the same claim.

Dismissal with prejudice is considered a final judgment.

But Kate, 38, did not release another defendant, Robert Hoffman, the author of Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled The World, from the lawsuit.

PHOTOS: Hollywood’s Dirtiest Divorces

He is alleged to have illegally tapped and accessed Kate’s computer without her authorization.

“Plaintiff Kate Gosselin agrees to dismiss with prejudice all claims and potential claims that she has or may have against Defendant Jonathan K. Gosselin that were or could have been asserted in this case,” a motion filed in the United States District Court of Pennsylvania on Tuesday afternoon said.

“By this motion, Plaintiff Kate Gosselin is not dismissing her claims against any Defendant other than Defendant Jonathan K. Gosselin.

“Defendant Jonathan K. Gosselin agrees to dismiss with prejudice all counterclaims or potential counterclaims that he has or may have against Plaintiff Kate Gosselin that were or could have been asserted in this case.”

RadarOnline.com broke the story: In August, Kate filed a sensational lawsuit against her ex-husband accusing him of wiretapping, computer hacking, identity theft and invasion of privacy.

“After the couple was separated, Jon illegally hacked into Kate’s email account and her phone and bank accounts,” the suit initially alleged.

“Jon also stole a hard drive from Kate’s house, which contained private and confidential material. Jon the gave them the contents of Kate’s email account and the hard drive, all of which were acquired illegality, to his friend and business partner, tabloid reporter Robert Hoffman.

“Hoffman used the illegally acquired data to publish a defamatory book about Kate … the book was removed from large distributors like Amazon.com because the information was obtained illegally.

“Nevertheless, the damage was done with the release of the personal and private information and the defendants continue to possess this illegally obtained private information.”

Kate said Hoffman, at one point, even ”bragged” that he was in possession of 5000 family photos, personal documents, tax and business records, plus contracts.

In the filing, Kate said Hoffman falsely claimed that he recovered the data from her computer by digging through her trash that he found on the street.

“This demonstrates his knowledge that the materials were obtained illegally, as it is a sign of an attempt to cover up his unlawful activities,” the suit alleges.

“The materials in his possession could not possibly be physically found in paper format to that extend. If Hoffman was picking through trash on the street, he did not find this trove of personal information while engaging in his trash-picking endeavors.”

As to the poor sales ranking of Kate's book on Amazon and how much money she is making off the book, she was probably was paid an advance by HCI publishing to start with. Given her instability (unpopularity) in the marketplace it probably would not have been a huge amount of money unless she received the advance before her little reality show empire collapsed. As for making money off sales, book authors, unless they are Stephen King or popular formulaic writers, do not make a lot of money from writing books. Many best selling authors teach or have other jobs as their main source of income.

Gosselin's latest book is by all definitions a flop in the book industry. HCI already has it marked down to close to $18..

It is usually the publisher who arranges the book tours. I didn't keep up with whether or not Kate toured with this book. The onus for touring and "selling" the book is really on the author now and it can be grueling. Can't see kate working this hard given that there can't possibly be large numbers of people showing up to feed her ego at a book signing.

However, what Kate did accomplish by getting this cookbook out there is having her name back in headlines. It also got her on a few talk shows. Based on the reiviews, it doesn't seem as if Gosselin was a bit concerned with the quality of her recipes or the integrity of her writing.

How would having three kids in Junior Kindergarten and three in Kindergarten establish individuality among the six? You'd still have them together. The only way they could be treated as individuals would be to have them in six separate classes, and I don't think that would have been an option. I would believe that they are being recognized as individuals. They are not Super Glued together at the hip. Each has his/her own interest, talents, and academic ability, even if they are in the same class.

Colleen said...

I believe the concept of treating them as individuals was that if a child is ready for a certain grade or activity that they should not be held back because another child is not ready simply because Kate chose to have a litter. Making an entire group stay together is not recognizing them as individuals.

Thanks, Colleen! That's exactly what I meant.
Holding three children back in school because the other three are behind is exactly the same as making them all wear matching clothes. Kate always treated them as if they were one 12-legged child!

Zorro Jay

November 25, 2013

We found him “by accident” sometime back in October. Cara, Mady, Collin and I were at the pet store picking up some water conditioner for our beta fish, Fizzy and Finn. A store employee, with a green and black bird attached to her shirt collar, approached us and asked if we needed any help finding anything. I smiled and jokingly said “No thanks, but do you know you have a bird attached to you?” She laughed and said “yes, this is Zorro.”

We followed her over to Zorros enclosure and spoke about him and our other pets for the next hour. As it turns out, this store manager has Shokas brother! We traded information so that we could get our dogs together to play and continued discussing Zorro.

He’s a five (almost six) month old Black Capped Conure, a small parrot, who is very intelligent, affectionate and can learn to talk. He loves and bonds with people and will live for 30+ years! The more research I did on him, the more I decided that he’d be a great fit for our family! But, I carefully thought through this big decision and decided he’d be a great family gift for Christmas.. Since the store wouldn’t officially hold him til Christmas, we made nearly weekly visits to see him until I had the research done and his cage and supplies ordered. Yesterday was the day for pick up so we all loaded up and very excitedly headed off to the pet store to pick Zorro up! It was a wonderful experience as we learned final instructions from the store staff. They all kissed him goodbye as we placed him into his little travel case we bought for him.

He was quite frightened at first, but once we had his cage set up (his “big” permanent cage hasn’t arrived yet) up and had him inside of it, he settled down and began to explore. After a celebratory pizza dinner, we took turns letting him ride on our shoulders all night… The most heart warming part of our first evening with Zorro was when he began his nightly chirping.. From way across the room, Alexis imitated his sound and they continued to “communicate” back and forth all evening while we were doing after dinner chores!

The kids and I are in love already.. I even got up earlier than normal this morning to cut up banana bites for Zorro and I served them with dry organic Cheerios!

Oh what fun! With 1 dog, almost 50 chickens, 2 fish and now a parrot, named Zorro…. Go ahead and call me “Mommy Doolittle!!!!”

******

The case against JON was dismissed WITH prejudice. The suit against ROBERT was dismissed WITHOUT prejudice, meaning that she can file again.

The lawsuit against Robert was dismissed without prejudice:

"Pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 41(a)(1)(A)(i), the plaintiff, Kate Gosselin, hereby voluntarily
dismisses the above matter, without prejudice, as the opposing parties have not served an answer
or a motion for summary judgment.}"

The lawsuit against Jon is the one that was dismissed with prejudice.

Pure speculation, but Kate probably got a part of the book royalties in exchange for dismissing the suit. She practically wrote the book herself. With Kate, it's all about the dollars.

Kate looking for a relationship?. I wonder what she thinks she can bring into a relationship. Her personality and baggage should prevent her from dating anyone.

Poor Kate..
