Life Without Reality TV

In the new People Kate claims she's changed and is keeping things together with income from various projects (including a pity People cover?).

Jon speaks also.

Go Away Kate! Oh wow...People mag. better get the picture already after the 1000+ comments that are 99.999% NEGATIVE!!
Kate is still using the excuse that she won't go back to nursing since all her income would go to a babysitter. My gosh, she has 2 almost-13 yr. olds, and the sextuplets are 9 years old, all are in school all day long. Not much "sitting" needed, maybe just a family friend to supervise homework and dinner, that is even IF the job would take her into the evening hrs.,...plenty of day shifts out there for nurses!
Kate is "laid-back" now...oh, as long as that wouldn't interfere with a possible TV gig (i.e. Wife Swap), then see ya later Ms. Laid-Back and back to monitoring household chores, checking for microscopic dust bunnies and smudges on her thousands of dollars worth of stainless appliances...not to mention making sure the kids are downstairs for school at 6:03 a.m. and in line single-file to floss their teeth by the kitchen sink.
"Hinting" for a seat at one of the talk show tables? Please! The couple of "guest co-host" spots she's done have been absolutely terrible, no flow whatsoever and completely forced, only to show off her borrowed wardrobe and spray tan.
I'm sorry, (actually, no, I'm not) this is ridiculous. I feel sorry for the kids, as they are being brought into this and looking like fools. The media are the ones that keep trying to bring Kate back and forcing her upon us. So Sad.

Nothing has changed with Kate. She should just go away once and for all.

I' m ready, Mr. DeMille said...

I wonder who her "image consultant" is now. Whoever he/she is, is beating a dead horse and it's failing miserably.
She stated, "to not have a reliable income is scary". REALLY KATE? What's your definition of "reliable income"? Grifting? She goes on to say, "I'm not the person I was...I don't even recognize her". which one of your personas are you referring to? The sweet pre-baby(s) nurse and wife or the ultra-organized one, who had to keep tabs on the nannies, personal cooks, cleaning personnel or the tradesmen who were DOING YOU A FAVOR for FREE? Could it be the Bikini Babe who had to have constant maintenance with the "perks" of manis, pedis, hair stylists of the "Stahs", Plastic Surgeons, body guards or the extensive inappropriate wardrobe and closets full of shoes? How about your "camping" vacations and your outrageous behavior towards others during your glamorous (free) vacations?

All in all, Kate seems to be sorry that Kate's World as she WANTS it to continue , is now over. Now is the time to face REALITY! What is she really sorry for?

BTW, please, for the love of pete, NO ONE go out and buy this issue! I know there are plenty out there who want to take a look at the article and check out the pics, even if just to be critical-if that's the case, then go ahead and read it in the store...don't give People the satisfaction of luring you in. They WILL be keeping tabs (as well as Kate) on how many people spout off negative comments, but buy the mag. anyway, = more fuel to keep Kate afloat. Notice how People is trying their hardest, by plastering "the kids tell all!" on the front cover. Yes, attempting to appeal to those that have always thought the kids are so cute, or feel sorry for them, etc. Nice try People. I'm sure the only one who "tells all" will be Mady, saying the same things she always has...aspiring to be an actress, our mom keeps us in line, blah, blah, blah...Ugh! Don't be fooled-no new info. folks.

I kind of doubt that they had to twist her arm to get her on the cover of the magazine. I don't see them groveling for a story; most likely it was the other way around.

sglily said...

Absolutely Kate was the one groveling. Just really annoying that People continues to give Kate a platform, and esp. front cover. Other media outlets as well, giving her every opportunity to promote the cookbook...yup, I'm sure as the book is released, we'll see her get her prime 8 am segment on Today as well. They can all turn their backs squarely to Kate, but they won't. She generates controversy, and people love to hate her...therefore we'll just keep getting bombarded with her sorry mug, whether surfing channels or standing in the check-out line.

Shi said...

This is weird. Y'know, it was easy for me before to totally judge and dismiss someone when they did terrible things, especially in families--Kate, of course, being a prime example of doing terrible things to her family.

I used to hate, hate, HATE on Kate... but mostly, I just feel sad. Sad that her marriage broke down. Sad that her family divided in a public and heinous way. Sad they don't have people like Jodi, Kevin, Beth, Nana Janet, etc. in their lives anymore. Sad that money and fame consumed her. Sad that the kids didn't have a normal childhood.

Shows like Intervention made me realize that people usually have issues because of past traumas, unhappy childhoods or unhealthy family dynamics. Kate clearly has her own issues, perhaps stemming from these kinds of things--from what exactly, I guess we'll never know. I don't think she was born "evil"... but clearly *something* made her the way she is. What she needs to do is get out of the spotlight, get professional help and do what's best for her children and herself.

I suppose fame works for some people (Albeit a very small percentage), but for Kate? Nope. Nope, nope, nope. No way.

If Kate continues down her path of seeking celebrity, I hope the kids will set boundaries or just cut her off entirely (When they're older). If Kate shapes up, learns from her mistakes, and does right by her kids, GREAT. Honestly, I PRAY that happens. If Kate ends up alone in the end... well, it'll be a good lesson for everyone.

Its kind of how I feel about Michael Jackson... yes, I LOVE his music, his dancing and he was a wonderful entertainer... but at what price?

I LOVE the Gosselin kids and I enjoyed watching their everyday lives... but again, at what price?

Certainly in these cases, I wish neither found fame at all. Children just don't belong in Hollyweird.

Kate can work [3] 12 hour shifts on weekends and Jon can babysit. Most single mothers who are nurses do that. DUH !!!

She's scheduled to be on the Today show on the date of the book release.

There is a real disconnect to this. Jon said in a recent interview that Kate is sitting on a "pile of money" Kate on the other hand acts like she is getting just getting by with the tuition for a private school for 8 kids, hair extensions, pedis and manis etc. If she had invested her money she could now be living off the interest, and work part time as a nurse. Oh Well !

irish wonder said...

I can't imagine she is sitting on a pile of money, not saying she is broke, but look at her overhead.

Just an example a $9,000 a month mortgage, on a house that has lost the last time I checked about 100K in value.

What always got me about both her and Jon was their bad money management.

If you remember it was Jon's late father who bailed them out from their first home.

Jon lost his $5,000 a month NYC apt, which he never needed.

She could be sitting on a pile of cash had she maintained a middle class lifestyle, but her monthly overhead on that house, private schools, hired help, must be outrageous.

Her money has to be dwindling down.

Dream Weaver said...

-----------

I'm sure that she had financial advisers who did invest the money. It's doubtful that she put several millions in a non-interesting bearing checking account. She could live off the interest for awhile, but if she doesn't find a job, she's going to be dipping into the principal at some point, unless the markets go into a full bull mode. She has that money stashed somewhere in investments accounts.

sglily said...

Standing in the check out line yesterday, waiting forever with the People mag. staring right at me. That front cover pic looks really terrible in person. Whoever edited that should lose their job. Is it just me, or do they all look kind of photoshopped in? Kate and Cara look like their upper bodies were just squeezed into the group. Kate's fake tan looks worse then ever and so obvious, and her face looks beyond her years and weathered. I'm sorry to say this, but the pic is also unbecoming of the kids. Let's just say I think now that they are 9 yrs. old, their ability to smile on cue and pose should have produced several better shots to choose from for a front cover. I flipped through just briefly enough to catch one of the article pics showing Kate to be looking like she's laughing hysterically, while the kids are just kind of "there"...very creepy. It looked so scary, I had to put it back immediately. Although I did not actually read the article, the few things I noticed looked very poorly written, with bad photos.

She can't possibly have much money left...Isn't tuition alone well over $100,000 a year for all 8 kids? Not to mention maintenance on "mine all mine" with all the acres and pool, etc...Not to mention how much it must cost for someone to do everything "work" related as clothes washing and house cleaning and cooking so she can sit back and continue to do NOTHING but twitter and relax...Plus the "babysitters" must still be coming so she can have free time without having to do mother type things...It would be a drain on a working "star", not to mention an unemployed former reality show person who does nothing to generate income and I'm sure get's few if any "freebies" anymore...She may have had enough money for a short while to support that lifestyle, but how long can a limited amount of money last? It wasn't THAT much to begin with...(not for how she was spending it)...oh, and let's not forget all the vehicles she finds it necessary to own and operate...Any guesses as to how much money is left??? And also, just wondering if anyone knows if People magazine with her cover sold very well???

sglily said...

Just read about the Coupons By Kate, and yes, will she EVER go away? So, she talks about saving and pinching pennies (as she supposedly has been doing for years), but when it comes to buying herself things, namely shoes, jewelry, punch cards for tans and mani-pedis, I guess that whole philosophy is a different story.
She may very well be running out of money, or just trying to stockpile because she's getting too close for comfort-I'm sure she has some stash somewhere, that she is living off the interest. She may not have a mortgage, as she could have made enough at one point to actually pay off & own the house. Still, I cannot imagine the upkeep with that place-the land, the pool (as we've seen plenty of pics of the kids enjoying a fully maintained pool area), heating/cooling, property taxes, etc. It appears that some of the "help" she's had in the past has dwindled (extra gardener or two?), but can't imagine the cost of private school for 8, uniforms and monogrammed backpacks with matching lunch boxes...hmmm...must be why she said "no" to the extra curricular stuff, and instead "advertising" her kids talents & hobbies in People hoping for a few free gigs?

Any guesses as to how much money is left???

********************

That's kind of hard to say, since nobody but Kate, Jon and her financial consultants, knows how much she began with, where it was invested (how much interest it generated), the current mortgage after the refinancing, and how much she has dipped into the children's accounts to withdraw funds needed for their welfare, health, education and safety.

Blue Moon,I'm just interested in "guesses"...I know nobody here "knows" for sure...I just thought it would be fun to speculate how much Kate has gone through...And we know from Roberts book about what income was made up until the Kate plus 8 days and those are the 2 seasons we can't know how much she was paid...I figure she made around 4 million...paid half in taxes so that left THEM 2 million...Sounds like a lot but over the course of all these years it wouldn't go far...I estimate her current expenses now to be around $250,000 to $300,000 a year...Assuming they have been close to that for the past 7 years, then her money is pretty much gone at this point unless she had a hell of an investment team...And let's NOT forget also her big legal expenses incurred for various things...Not cheap...So do you think I'm in the ballpark or way off base???

Assessment for taxes, not market value of the home.

Yes, under the DOL regulations, it can be withdrawn for the welfare of the kids.

Sunny Days said...

Treatment plans vary with each child, depending on jaw growth, teeth alignment, etc. She did say that the boys would be getting braces. I would think that she would rely on the advice of the orthodontist.

Sunny Days said...

I have no idea. It's almost impossible to even venture a guess, since there are so many variables there. How much were they paid in the beginning? What were they being paid for her solo show? How much did she make from her speaking engagements, church donations, all of the book sales, interviews...who paid attorney's fees (she or TLC). How much was invested? What was the return on those investments? What about the overseas corps that were set up? It's impossible to even ballpark it.

UNLESS you do a market analysis of the home, this is all you have to go by for the value...Depending on circumstances in HER area, house could be worth LESS than tax value or could be worth MORE than tax value...We have NO way to know the value of the home...this is the best estimate/guess we have...I think most areas try to assess the tax value as close to the market value as possible at the time it is assessed...It's not like they want you to pay LESS taxes than you have to, you know:)

If the home would be listed for sale, there would be comps pulled for that area, plus the building cost per square foot, and the value of the land. It's not difficult to determine what her house should bring in the current market, but clearly, it's not going to be anywhere close to what she paid for it.

Yes...that's what a market analysis is called in NC...It's the only way to determine the value of a home...

I couldn't resist taking a peek at the magazine just to see the kids, but I wouldn't dare pay for it.

Granted, I didn't read every word, but noticed that it seemed like the article was just quotes from Kate and the girls. Did I miss anything or has she programed only the girls to say the right answers to the press?

Since Kate's coupon site was mentioned, I feel the need to explain how ads work for anyone who doesn't have a blog.....

I'm assuming those are affiliate coupons on Kate's site. Meaning if you click on the ad, Kate gets paid.

She may also get paid just for the number of visits on the blog.

Or she may just be selling advertising for a flat fee and that is also based on the number of views her site gets.

What I'm saying is the less views and clicks Kate's site gets, the less money coming her way.

If you don't want to financially support her, then you might want to stay away from her coupon site.

I am a couponer and did take a peek at her site. If you are trying to save money, there are much better sites to help you get a deal.

For Kate to resort to a coupon site after her stint at being a self claimed celebrity tells me she must really be hurting for cash. I'm sure she's got enough for a normal family, but will not be able to keep the fancy lifestyle up without some regular income coming in soon.

She has also managed to get onto another reality TV show just about every year. DWTS probably covered all the expenses for that year with some left over. She was paid quite well on that show. Then there was wife swap, probably covered about half for that yr. Add in her paid blogs, yes, she probably dipped into savings but she definitely has had other money coming in to cover a good part of the expenses.

Of course she did. It wasn't like she was without income for seven years. Even if she had to dip into savings, there was money coming in from other sources. She's put herself out there on DWTS, had Kate Plus Eight, CWS, and blogs. She's gotten it from somewhere, and I really doubt that most of it is gone. Nobody knows how much she had socked away when Jon and Kate ended, and she's generated income since then. That twenty grand in child support right after the divorce was a nice sum right there.

An amazing job...teaching her children how to survive in a world she subjected them to? Reality TV, kids having to grow up on screen, and watching the demise of their family televised to millions. Mom belittling Dad at any opportunity, kids not having "too much fun" for fear of messing up an outfit, allowing her son to sit and wait while calling out "who pooped?!" for 5 min. (because the house is just too big to find him) and then requesting his older sister to wipe him, and let us not forget flying off the handle over a piece of pizza with kids in emotional distress and sobbing buckets...all caught on camera, mind you.
But, guess they sound like they turned out pretty good (thanks to their mom) as evidenced by a written and edited article in People mag.? Hmmm...I don't know about anybody else, but I'm gonna have to give that one another thought...

@@@@@@@@
Here you can count a finished basement if the home is build into a hillside with at least one entire wall fully exposed to the outside, and it has an entrance way at that level. I believe there is also a requirment for a couple of windows on that level. That does make a difference since this area is all hills. They also count finished attics in this part of PA but there are rules for that also like at least two windows, at least 1/2 of the attic space must be finished, must have heat. I believe those rules vary county to county.

I truly believe that once Kate's kids turn 18, they are not going to have anything to do with Kate. Those kids will be writing tell all books about Kate, based on first hand experience, and not from stuff found in the trash or, from Kate's diary.

As far as Kate doing an amazing job with her kids, I don't think so. I would rather have seen Jon get full custody of them and the house. Jon is the more loving, and patient parent. Just wait till all of the 6 kids are teenagers. Kate is going to go crazy, because she won't be able to "abuse" them anymore, without them speaking out about it to other people.

Some were ready for K, some weren't. In the best interests for all of them, the six were put into Junior Kindergarten, rather than Kindergarten. Nothing wrong with that. Redshirting is often done; it certainly was more advisable that having some in Junior K and some in K, with the ones in Junior K wondering why they weren't ready (or good enough) to be in Kindergarten with their siblings.

In reply to the many requests to comment on the recent lawsuit filed on my behalf

August 29, 2013

I would like to offer the following statement:

What started out as a mission to find the source(s) of excessive internet bullying and hate directed towards me — proportions of hate that have led to an extremely inaccurate and untrue public perception of me and occurrences in my life — has ended with the filling of this lawsuit. It is a lawsuit that I feel is necessary in order to protect myself and my children both now and in the future.

My hope is that this process may also give others the courage to seek out and stand up against brazen and damaging “faceless” internet bullies and hold them accountable for their actions. The saddest part of this situation is the fact that the investigation to identify the source and those responsible for orchestrating this barrage of hate for their own financial gain, has ended where it has and with the individuals named in the court documents. At the beginning of this investigation I made the decision to take legal action against those found to be responsible and see no reason to change this decision now that the investigation has revealed those responsible are unfortunately so close to home.

Here is my question. Kate says she is doing this for her, and her kids.
Just what does she think her children will say, when they are old enough to understand that she has sued their dad. Does she honestly believe their going to say "gosh mom, that was such a great thing you did...for us...thank you for stripping my dad of everything he EVER had..incud ing his dignity, you are a GREAT mom"!!!!
I have an ex-husband, I was hurt and angry with him for a few years. But in the end, he is still my kids dad, and he was always a good dad. That is what I hung onto, and today, he is one of my dearest friends.

I have an ex-husband, I was hurt and angry with him for a few years. But in the end, he is still my kids dad, and he was always a good dad. That is what I hung onto, and today, he is one of my dearest friends.
If you're reading this Kate, you have absolutely NOTHING to gain from suing Jon, except the contempt of your children.

I just want to say, nicely ssid.

SHE IS STILL GETTING FREE STUFF

NoNetz.com

September 3, 2013

We received these amazing swim suits from NoNetz.com.

I was asked by this growing company to “try them out” — or my boys were, rather.Over Labor Day weekend — the last weekend of summer, my boys happily put on their new super stylish and super “big boy” looking swim suits and headed out to dive into the pool for one of their final swims of the season. They were thrilled by the bright colors, the soft and comfortable feel, AND by the “no net” lining of their new swim suits! In fact, I heard them telling their sisters how “soft the suits were on the inside.”

As a mom, I also love the bright colors (and the seemingly endless color choices available on the website — makes keeping track of “whose is whose” a breeze!), the quality material, sturdy construction AND of course the genius “no net” design. I also appreciate the generous sizing so the suits will fit them next year as well. And, if my kids are comfortable, happy and look cute, this mom is happy too!

Over all this product receives 9 GOSSELIN THUMBS UP (all five of their sisters made “awww” sounds at their handsome brothers in their new awesome swim suits so I translated that reaction into thumbs up from them too!)!

Go to NoNetz.com to read more about this company and order suits for your “boys!”

Just sent an email to her newest 'grifting' company stating that I would no longer buy these suits because I do not support any company that Kate supports. Wrong choice of words, I should have said GIVES to Kate. The email that I received from them is below. In my reply to them, I asked why they had to pay her, the free suits should have been sufficient and also, why send her free suits when they ask for reviews on their own website. I'm sure Kate wrote to them stating how her boys have the bad chafing problem.

Thanks for your feedback!

We listen to all of our customers quite closely.

Just to clarify, Kate Gosselin reviewed our product.
She didn't sponsor it and we don't have an ongoing relationship with her.

Much like the page of reviews we have on our site , we wanted her to test out our suits since her sons suffer from the chafing rash and give us feedback. We are really active listeners.

She liked the suits , they solved the chafing problem for her boys and she offered to write a review.

We did have to pay her for the review but we view it as an advertising expense, nothing more.

If there's any feedback you can give us about the bathing suits, something you'd like to see, something we've missed, please let us know.

Our goal is to provide the most comfortable bathing suits for guys.

Thanks for taking the time to write us.

Pay to Review? I wonder if they do it for everyone.

Just one more way to sell out the boys privacy.

My response from NoNetz to my follow up email.

You know , we really had no idea of the History of Kate.

She saw our suits, said her boys suffered from the rash and said she would do a paid review.

Now we've had paid reviews before (Parent Tested Parent Approved, Real Dad Reviews, etc) but its always a risk.

You pay them, you send them your product , and then the reviewer can say anything.

We really thought we were taking a big chance but had great confidence in our product. Then were thrilled that the suits solved her boys problems.

But, we hear you. We have taken down her review and have asked her to do the same.

I wonder if she'll cash our check.

We'll let you know.

But thank you for keeping us on the straight and narrow.

------------

They have made the statement that she was paid for the review, but they don't give out freebies. Of course the statement has changed so many times it's hard to know what to believe.

They still have a link to Kate's website and to her review. Just in case anyone was wondering.
