Fans on Twitter are so excited about this, but I wonder how many of them can afford this trip. Kate, of course, gets to go free. I would bet that access to her will be severely limited to "meet and greet" times. Can't wait to see how many suckers buy into this.

I wonder who set this one up? Probably purseboy/manager/?
Is she going alone or with the children? As long as the children are not a factor, then that is o.k.
Once a grifter, always a grifter.
I am not jealous, before the sheep say it, I went on a 14 day Carribean cruise last year. Now I wonder what comes with the meet and greet, yet another copy of her $1 best seller book?

I can't believe she's grifted another freebie. I'm sure she will be taking along a nanny or two so she can bask in the sun and not have to actually engage with her children. This is just another opportunity for her to have all the attention focused on her. It also doesn't seem safe for her to invite unknown twitter fans to mingle with her children.

I'd think the seasickness would be ENOUGH of a deterrent from going oceanbound, but OMG: Stuck on a boat. Out in the middle of the ocean. With Kate Gosselin aboard. And whatever lunatics have wasted their vaca $ in the hopes of seeing a 4th rate 'celebrity'.

Maybe she'll DANCE onstage ala DWTS.

Whoever the Royal Carribean 'entertainment' organizer who ok'd this one ought to be fired immediately.

I used to think Royal Caribbean was a class act. This proves otherwise.

I think Heffner Road is correct in her assessment of this situation. It looks like Royal Carribean did NOT book her - there is nothing about her on ther website for this cruise / week. To book the cruise with K8 you need to work thru one special travel agent located in Fairfield, NJ. SHE must have coordiated the deal with Kate's person: if they get, for example 20 cabins sold, then the cruise like would give them a cabin free - just a group rate promotion. This agent is hoping the allure of Kate will be enough enticement to get a free cruise for their troubles, and the agent gets profit on the cruises she sells. Either a win-win, or a lose-lose. And notice it just says "kate" - nothing about meeting the kids. So poor mom goes on a cruise and the kids stay home with babysitters. What a difference a year makes.

barnaby said...

This isn't any different than when your local TV personalities "host" a trip or cruise. We've all seen ads for this over the years.

Khart's specific tour group, if it ever comes to a number large enough for the sponsoring travel agency to make a profit ( and that's a big if), will be among thousands of others people booked on a huge cruise liner. That is why there is a caveat regarding Khart's actual participation in this cruise. Not enough people sign up, the travel agency can't afford to comp her to be the host. So KG's "fans" will be booked on a cruise without her. Imagine the fallout from that!

This may make Khart feel good regarding her potentially comped cruise, but there is no way she earns any real income by hosting such an event. Her income would come from selling her signature on books, other merchandise etc. Just like all the other Grade Z folks trying to eek out a living after their star has diminished

Frankly, I don't understand all the hysteria right now. This is something her agent has set up with a travel agency, but it is by no means a given that the numbers will add up and there will be any positive income for the Gosselin household.

Next she will be selling samples at the grocery store..."Come eat with Kate Gosselin and get a signed carton of Juicy Juice!!"

hmmm, interesting. I continue to learn SO much through the world of Gosselin.

Obviously her pr people have arranged this. No mention of the kids - so I'm all for it.

August is prime hurricane season, you couldn't pay me to go on a cruise at that time. Also the rates are high - not sure the people who follow her are in that category.

Her aversion to meeting with real people, remember shooing the kids out of the museum, will be interesting to watch.

My guess is she is totally freaked out about this one, or will be as soon as she thinks about it real hard. Meeting with the common folk? Doubt it. But having a website called "kategosselincruise.com" total narcissistic feed.

That's a TERRIBLE time for a cruise. It's the heart of the hurricane season and the HOTTEST time of the year to be in the Caribbean. We live on the East Coast of FL and NEVER cruise in August.

Also, she told one tweeter whom I think was a teenager, to take a job after school and save up and get a passport.

Will there be a coupon for this on her other money making scheme? Will she be hawking that belly fat burning machine on the cruise along with her signature on her dollar store books?
I think she has no intention of going and it's just a money making scheme for her for them to use her famous name. She'll have emergency plastic surgery booked for the same week.

This is such a joke. Who has this kind of money in the economy. For me to go on this cruise I would have to book two rooms or leave two people at home. For just four us it would cost over $7300 and that does not include air fare, hotel, and tips that you have to pay everbody and the end of the trip. If I had that much money I would go Disney World where I could be with all my family. Kate needs a reality check.

cpmomm said...

There won't be any families attending this cruise. It will be individual people, only paying for one, like her fans from Twitter or moms that adore her going. They will find the money to pay for one ticket. I also emailed the cruise line with my displeasure.

==============
The prices for the Kate package deal range from $1900 to $3175.00. The lowest price cabin can be booked through other agencies for $899. These sheeple are paying an addition thousand dollars just to see Kate. The agency would get a small cut for this, but the bottom line is that Kate would walk away making about $800 from each sheeple.

**********************

Of course there will be income for the Gosselin household. She's not doing this out of the goodness of her heart for the fans that she loves! She's making money off each passenger!

The "hysteria" right now is because Kate has been on a mission to make sure that the sheeple know that they are members of her extended family...true friends. She has been grooming them to think that she really cares about them because she knew that this cruise was coming up and she needs them to pad her pockets. She is making money off this. She is using them.

She knows full well that these teens cannot afford this trip and yet she is encouraging them to save their money (some are saving for college) just to go on this cruise. Shameful. With airfare, hotel room and all of the extra costs for this cruise, the cost in the cheapest cabin is going to be at least $4,000 per person. Teens don't have that kind of money and neither do her "mediocre" fans. For a family of four in a cabin that accommodates that many people, the grand total for this family fun vacation is between nine and ten thousand dollars. Kate never had to pay for a vacation in her life, so she has no idea of the expense this would be for an average family, and yet it is being billed as a family fun-filled vacation.

heffner road said...

I feel this will be a flop. I hope it is. She has to learn a lesson.

Ok, didn't see the heading! Sorry. I don't see people in this economy shelling out that kind of money for a cruise to meet a reality tv star.

From what I gather from Cruise Critic dot com on FB, this is a cruise that Kart herself set up as a "group cruise" to make a buck. According to CC posters the price is about $700 MORE than if you book it yourself. It is not part of any show. Every once in a while, there are "group" theme cruises, but with worthwhile themes, such as "oldies groups", where there are special shows and meet and greets etc., and then perhaps you might want to spend more. But to meet the Kart? hahahahahaha Then she will probably have her little table set up and charge the suckers $10 each to get their picture taken with her. I hope it is a bust and nobody signs on. Plus it is hurricane season.

Liz said...

I've heard of other celebs and D listers doing cruises. If they don't get enough interest, it's canceled. Of course, those are the ones where the whole ship is for that celeb.

If they only need 20 people to make it a go, then I imagine there's enough sheeple that will hock their kid's Xbox to come up with the $ to have 12 minutes alone with their shepherd.

kinman said...

That seems pretty expensive for only 3 ports, one of which is a one-day Royal Caribbean private island excursion in Haiti (if I am not mistaken). But the ship sounds pretty amazing so I guess their rates are expensive anyway, huh? But I guess having all that time at sea will maximize the thrill of having more one-on-one time with her majesty! How in the world will she divide her time among all of her many fans? This really seems a bit out of character for Kate as she does seem to freak out when people are too close to invading her space, or taking her picture, etc.. (i.e on the Grand Canyon trip) I wonder if she will mingle, or have Steve guarding her at all times and taking cameras away from people? Either she has really changed her tune or the whole thing will just seem a little weird for her fans. I will never know as I cannot afford it, not that I would want to go anyway (except out of curiosity..I admit it!) It's just annoying how much free stuff she manages to finagle out of having such very little lingering "celebrity" status. It would be interesting to know if enough people sign up so that she, Steve, and the kids get to go for free after all. I guess there is no way to know that.

I have read some of the comments posted on that FB page. I would say they are running about 99% against Kate being there. The people commenting are also against the cruise line letting her do this and some saying they would never sail with them again if they give Kate a free cruise. Plus two of the kids are suppose to be on this ship. Hopefully Kate realizes this same ship has just had a 15 year old raped on it. http://www.cruise-community.com/News/News-Headlines/Two-held-for-alleged-teen-rape-on-Allure-of-the-Seas.html

I looked at the itinerary and activities and I think even the hard-core Kate fans will be disappointed with the trip.

It sounds like any time with Kate will be very limited and structured. There is mention of one shore excursion with Kate, but everything else seems like it will be on the ship on either the 13th or 18th. Note how on only those two dates does "at sea with Kate" include "Join Kate's exclusive events."

The fact that she is scheduling a completely separate Q&A session tells me that she had no plans to interract with the guests during the other activities.

No mention is made of the kids on the travel website. Even if the twins go, I wonder Jon would have to sign off on the twins making an appearance at guest-paid activities? Getting paid to do something sounds like work.

Sounds like just another way to fleece the sheeple for her personal enjoyment.

I believe the cruise is HER idea and she approached the cruise company. She is organizing it, they are not a part of that I believe, but I would imagine that they would have to approve it. I am sure they don't let just anybody get a group together and advertise their company name because many people will assume that the cruise company is organizing the group and endorsing that group. They would not want to get a negative reputation by having some "questionable" group "representing" their cruise line. She is not liked by many but has not done anything illegal. That is why I think they don't care what negative feed back they get having her as long as she brings in paying customers to the cruise line.

I was going to go on a `scrapbooking`cruise this fall. It had scrapbooking classes and tutorials (extra fee). It listed all the sponsors (stamp, paper, art supply companies that would be there and of course sponsoring the event. Kate`s cruise is the same kind of thing, although I have no idea what services she would be offering the customers other then gracing them with her presence. ugh!

I went to the cruise lines website and was able to price a cruise on that ship for those exact date. I can get that cruise for almost $900 cheaper (I compared the same exact cabin class so it is an "apple" to "apple" comparison) I did not enter any discount codes. Just regular full price. Oh and the price I was able to look up included taxes. Even adding on gratuity did not raise that price to that point.

Even the Titanic offered a better deal!! :)

Regarding the price of cruises, it all depends who you book through, or if you have been on a cruise before, you get special rates on certain lines.
We had 14 days for $1999 each which made it $4000 approx for the two of us. We did, however, have a balcony. Inside is a lot cheaper.
It is the other things on the ship where you spend your money. If you drink, even sodas now, they have to be paid for. Speciality restaurants on most lines, charge a fee, although I must say Princess' regular seating for dinner is superb.
Tips are taken off your credit card the moment you book in at the ship. It was approx $300 plus any tax you paid on drinks. Then if you had extremely good waiters, you would tip them at the end of the trip extra.
The tips stopped by the cruise line is not mandatory and you can cancel it, but there are a lot of hard working people on there who are paid minimum wages.
To sum up, even if you can see these young tweeters managing to come up with the original cabin fare, there are other extras that they probably would not be aware of. Factor the air fare, travel insurance, maybe a hotel stay and you are looking at an awful amount of money for any young person or family in the present economy.
We are retired and worked and saved for our trips, not like Kate who only goes on a trip if it is free.
It will be interesting to see how many actually take her up on this. What can we expect, delusional is her middle name!!

A "friend" of mine was trying to get a group together for a cruise to Alaska, so she could go for free. It only took 10 people. Kates thrown on some extra's such as a the meet and greet, a private dinner, etc. That could bring it up higher, so your 20 people may be about right.

I don't want to go anywhere with her! said...

Amazing to think tour promoters would think she's some kind of a draw. Of all the things to do on a cruise, especially with this ship, what would be her appeal? Hasn't the Gosselin-multiples thing faded by now? The thing that's even more surprising is how "they" keep putting Kate in "people" situations...when she's so bad with people, in my opinion. She's not a people person and doesn't do much to cover it up. In a role for meet & greet, you need somebody who reaches out, mingles, acts interested, is vivacious...or am I wrong? Seriously, from what we've seen of Kate over the years, at least on the TV shows (her reality spots, Dancing With The Stars), does she strike you as someone who is going to go up to people and be welcoming? No. I suppose she'll sit on a throne, waiting for the lowly subjects to come to HER.

I guess there's something for everybody on a cruise but, man, give me the carousel or casino ('way better than getting stuck in a room with her, much less ruining a perfectly-good BBQ!). I wish I could feel good about someone just trying to make a living to feed their family but, to me, her credibility on that has long since ceased and it's more about constantly trying to power-up the "star" angle. But, seriously, who really even thinks about the Gosselins anymore; they're old news. Other than that association, she has nothing else to offer that's interesting or of value. She isn't special.

I will say one thing: at least the advertisement is for her, and not her kids. Vast improvement. Maybe they can go along to enjoy the ship's attractions like other kids, no cameras, having some fun under the radar and unrecognized.

What creeps me out is when her name is somehow associated with all things "family friendly" or, like with the coupon thing, being a regular coupon-clipper mom when you know darn well that has nothing to do with today's Kate. A lot of us are family-oriented and/or coupon clippers and we're not even remotely like Kate. She does not represent us as a group!

Actually if you a book a cruise throught the cruise line the airfare isn't much. The cruise lines work closely with the airlines.

But this is being handled by a travel agent out of NJ, so who knows.

August is a time you cruise to Alaska, not the Carribean.

And as others have said her teenage fans can't afford it.

In regards to the Kate Cruise, we have
to have in her contract "in case of an extreme illness or death in the

would get a refund on the price of Kate's events. We do not expect this to
happen, Kate would not disappoint her fans unless it was a real emergency.

Brummygirl said...

The reality of all this is, if and I state if, she has persuaded some of her tweeties to go on the trip solely to meet her, then they are in for a surprise.
They probably think that they are going to spend mega quality time one on one with their idol when in essence, it will be brief and perhaps not so personal.
I can see them hunting all over the ship for seven days looking for her when she will probably have one of the private suites and purseboy to guard her!! On a short cruise, one of our friends had the Penthouse suite and believe me, it was huge with a large balcony right at the front of the ship. If Kate has one of those, then she can be really private and not bother to go public. Probably the most work Purseboy will have had in months.
I really cannot see her walking about the ship each day exposed to these misguided souls. Sure they will want to experience things on the ship, but basically they are there to meet Kate.
Saying this, I shouldn't really slate Kate for this gig, because the tups are not involved and I reckon the twins are old enough not to care at the moment and would want the cruise. I just hope she is the only one on the interviews and the twins not included.
Hmmmmm....good luck to the tweeties, hope you haven't wasted your money.

#############

I've been on a couple of cruises and booked through a travel agent. The travel agent can arrange the air fare through the cruise line and get the same rate you would if not better. If it is a travel agent that specializes in cruises and does a lot of bookings they get comps they give to their clients too. For example for one cruise we were all bumped up to first class on our air and two levels on our cabin.

As far as the tweenies go, all cruise lines have age limits for kids traveling without parents. RC is:

No Guest younger than the age twenty-one (21) will be assigned to a stateroom unless accompanied in the same stateroom by an adult twenty-one (21) years old or older.

Some cruise lines are as high as 25. The lines don't want the liabilities of kids on board.

Also, besides the $$$ these teens would need to get a passport, etc. I don't see it happening.

There's now an article on the Yahoo! front page titled, "Would You Cruise With Kate? Gosselin's Next Career Move Gets Panned". Here's an excerpt:

"When her long-running show "Kate Plus 8" ended in September, everyone including Kate Gosselin wondered what she'd do next. Here's your long-awaited answer: she's going cruising. Alice Travel is offering a week long Caribbean adventure in August hosted by the much maligned reality star. But will anyone actually join her?

It's not likely, according to a poll posted on the website Cruise Critic. More than 45 percent of readers said they'd cancel their trip if they got wind of her being on board.

"What a great way to empty a cruise ship! I'd cancel if booked," wrote one of over 600 bemused commenters on Cruise Critic's Facebook page."

The article also mentions: "Passengers willing to sit through Kate's crafting tutorial and other family-style games and activities have to pay an additional $700 for the privilege."

http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/cruise-kate-gosselins-next-career-move-gets-panned-194400878.html

This is being promoted as a "parenting" cruise. Really, Kate? The only advice Kate is qualified to offer is how to find ways to avoid spending time with your kids. She's certainly an expert on that!

With the cost of the tickets and extras, I doubt many of Kate's sheeple will be able to afford this trip.

_____________

What they are referring to here is not that passengers have to pay an additional $700 just to go to a crafting lesson. They are figuring that the entire Kate package (all the perks of being able to meet with her, photographs, private party, questions and answers, meet and greet, etc.) cost at least $700 more per person than it would be if this cruise was booked through another agency or an online site like Expedia.

It's $700 above published cruise rates. It would be a lot more than the lowest rate available.

First off, other than e.coli I can't think of anything that could make a cruise more miserable than the presence of Kate Gosselin. My guess is she'll only come out of her cabin when its time to perform, or if part of her contract includes an obligatory invitation to dine at the Captain's table. I don't think the cruise line would take the risk of alienating the other thousands of paying customers, many of whom probably don't know who Kate is and most of whom don't care, by letting her run her diva act in public.

I hope to heaven she doesn't make the twins come along as accessories, and instead lets them enjoy the week with their father.

Of course you can book the cruise yourself. Royal Caribbean has decent prices, but other travel agencies are lower.

However, unless you book the Kate package you will not be allowed access to the events where Kate appears. That's the whole purpose of the trip for her fans - to be with her, to lovingly gaze, to become her best friend. The way these things work is that those who sign up for the package deal get badges or passes to attend the "private" events. They are paying $1,000 for this privilege. No badge, no access to the events.

---I used to think Royal Caribbean was a class act. This proves otherwise.---

I have cruised with them before and they are a classy cruise line (or so I thought). I would not think they would want to be associated in any way with this nonsense. I know it is a travel agency getting this group together, but Kate's name is a joke to most people and she is not a celebrity at all, except to her few twitter followers. That price is crazy expensive for that cruise in my opinion. I would love to know how many people actually book it just to see Kate. I would think the kids would be in school on those dates, unless they start later. If that's the case, she will just be going alone (probably with Steve). Her last several trips have been without the kids, and I think she prefers it that way. She will probably be set up in a suite, and only come out briefly for a few appearances, and otherwise expect to be treated like a celebrity. So I hope her fellow cruisers do not expect her to be hanging out on the Lido Deck drinking margaritas with them in the hot tub, or disco dancing on 70's night in the atrium because it is not gonna happen. The common, mediocre people freak her out too much.

I won't go so far is to cancel. These cruise ships are so big it's hard to find the people you are traveling with if they wonder off. It would be easy enough never to run into Kate. Besides, she will be hiding in her room except for her "group events" which will be off in there own seperate area.

capacity: 5400 passengers at double occupancy; 6296 maximum

That's more people then the size of the Pittsburgh suburb I live in.

I avoid these mega-ships. They can't get into smaller ports. the smaller ships can hit some more interesting places and usually go to more ports on a one week cruise. When I go it's for the ports not the on-board activities. The largest I've been on is 1,200 and that was big enough for me!

I can't believe it either. He signed off on the contract with TLC because they have him over barrel. But for her to have that kind of control it would have to be in the custody agreement. After dealing with TLC (and Kate) I doubt he would let that happen.

Cruising Kate Gosselin is Andy Cohen's Newest Jackhole
Friday, January 13, 2012 at 8:56AM

Thursday night on Bravo's Watch What Happens host Andy Cohen named Kate Gosselin the Jackhole of the Day for inviting people to spend thousands of dollars to go on a cruise with her so she can run around the ship yelling at other peoples kids.

The Royal Carribean cruise with Kate includes a private welcome cocktail party, private dinner and brunch, book signing, Q&A session, and a craft lesson. Time will tell if this cruise sails successfully or not, since as usual Kate's troubled reputation precedes her. It's a mystery why the cruise line chose Kate to entice people to sign up for the cruise when there are endless celebrities who haven't had a small fraction of the consistently negative press she's had. My guess is that she'll show up for the minimum meet-and-greet events required and not spend any time with the ship's guests unless she absolutely has to. One thing's for sure: Kate loves being treated like a celeb and apparently Royal Carribean is going all out in doing so.

Although she hasn't said who yet, Kate has said some of the kids will be on the cruise with her. I personally have no problem with Kate making money via legitimate gigs like representing a couponing site or hosting a cruise, but as with her years of TV shows, I think she should leave the kids out of it. She can call it just playing in front of the cameras as much as she wants but the fact remains, it's work in order to provide their mother and family with income, and they are still way too young, immature and inexperienced to be capable of consent. Personally I think it's sad that while the kids will have lots of happy memories of doing fun things with their dad just because he loves them, all their memories of trips with their mom are going to be tainted by the knowledge that their childhoods were being sold to strangers in order to provide income for the family.

When Kate is a "theme" and is not part of the cruise line entertainment ONLY those who book through the travel agency orgainizing this will get to meet/greet Kate or take part in any of her activities. So if someone just books the regular price on the cruise chances of them seeing Kate are slim and chances of actually meeting her are NIL.

Yes, of course they will always put a positive spin on these things. They are in the business of obtaining D-list celebrities to attract cruise-goers. It would not be good business to publicly admit that they've only sold a total of five tickets specifically for the Kate Gosselin cruise experience.

I remember some years ago, Kathy Griffin "hosted" a gay cruise. From what was filmed for her show, she was very involved with her fan, and participated in some sort of event every day/night. That cruise appeared to have quite a few passengers. She had drawing power.

Kate doesn't. She has a few devoted young fans who are pestering their parents to pay for this cruise, and a few adult women who I'd call "stalkerish." If she gets more than 15 people signing up for this cruise, I'd be very surprised.

Maryanne McG. said...

I used to work for a cruise line. For them to even give the "celeb" free passage they have to fill a minimum number of cabins. To negotiate things like free airfare to/from the port city, cabin upgrades, free excursions, etc. requires even more bookings. A-list celebs and acts don't do this sort of thing, and the cruise lines know they have the upper hand. For Kate Gosselin to get the kind of star treatment and freebies she got while under contract to a major cable network, she will have to fill a substantial number of cabins. Realize also that a huge part of the revenue the cruise lines anticipate from this kind of cruise is alcohol and gambling, and they are smart enough to recognize that's not the kind of demographic Kate Gosselin draws, so more than likely the cruise line upped their booking requirements accordingly. The chances of Kate attracting enough people with the time and disposable income to meet even the minimum mark is dubious. Her chances of booking enough to get her diva treatment is nil. More than likely, this cruise will end up like her TV show, cancelled.

Don't be too sure if the Kart will cancel the cruise. Usually there is some sort of group rate, but Kart is charging the folks MORE. So even if she gets 10 cabins filled, she will at least get her cabin paid for, and the food that goes along with it. Of course, she is expecting VIP treatment, and a suite, she won't get that. I hope she knows that alcoholic beverages are not included in the cruise fare, so that won't get comped either. The woman has never paid for a vacation since she's been on t.v., and it would kill her to have to pay for one now.

The comments about how much Kate spends on groceries is mind boggling! I have a family of 8. One has moved out so I'm only feeding a family of 7 at the moment and I'm a SAHM. We eat organic and I don't spend remotely close to what she spends. I get beef from a local farmer and chicken occasionally, too. I do make everything from scratch which saves money, I know! We spend about $240 a week plus it averages out to be about $125 a month in meat from the farmer. I have two big healthy, strong boys that eat as much as their dad so I KNOW I'm preparing WAY more food than she does for those tups. What the heck is she spending the money on? I know many on here don't agree with the organic food but my hubby and I drive older vehicles but we give up a lot because my belief in it is important to us.

I have no idea how Kate's cruise bookings are going, but here's my own guess:

Seems to me that her fans are primarily two groups. Young women, either still in high school or just out of high school. This group typically does not have lots of discretionary income to spend on such things as expensive cruises. Her other set of fans seem to be dissatisfied housewives who wish they could be Kate Gosselin. They wear the latest trendy clothes, despite the fact that it's not age appropriate, spend money on lots of vanity items, and probably have their husband's credit cards maxed out. They could probably find a way to take this cruise, but it would only put them deeper into debt.

So for the first group, the parents would have to agree to pay for the cruise, and at least one parent or other adult would have to go along. There may be one or two very spoiled girls that can sweet talk Dad into this cruise idea, but most of them will not be able to go.

As for the second group, there will be several diehard fans who will find a way to get booked on this cruise. Personally, some of them are stalkerish and scary. If I were Kate, I wouldn't want to be stuck out in the middle of the ocean with these weirdos.

Finally, I believe the entire cruise industry is quietly panicking over the most recent series of events that have only highlighted that cruising can be quite dangerous. I have long heard about people disappearing on cruises, never to be seen again. Rapes are a frequent problem, as are robberies. The cruise lines do very little to solve these crimes. What's worse, even when they know a passenger has gone overboard, they simply call the Coast Guard and keep on sailing, leaving that person to almost certain death.

Personally, I have much better (and safer) ways to spend my vacation dollars. I think Kate's cruise is going to be a bust.

Seems to me that her fans are primarily two groups.

Good observation, except that there is a third group. This is the retired group of women, some with husbands, but some who are widowed or divorced, who do not dress in trendy styles and appear to be living on their retirement and social security. They would not have money to go on a cruise, let alone buy clothing that would be appropriate for such a trip. For the most part, they stay at home, glued to their computers, trying to be Kate's friends and generally, just being annoying.

Re here mortgage?

Where did you get this information of $4,000 per month.? does this include taxes and insurance? I live in the same school district, Conrad Weiser.. my home is assessed at $320,000 and I pay $8000 per year in school taxes and $1,800 per year in county and township taxes..

We need proof where you got the mortgate info...

It does not include taxes. Go to county records, look up her refi info, the balance, and the interest rate. You can figure out her mortgage payment. It's all public record.

You can also figure out her taxes based on her assessment.

For those living in that area,
what would her utilities run,then
car expenses, household and personal life insurance etc??
The small misc expenses that pop up
are the budget killers.
Know what my individual budget is,
I can't image what hers is a month
with miminal income coming in, plus
Steve. Hope Gina has saved most of
it. A guestimate please???
Please and Thanks

Even if she did refinance her mortgage that is still a lot of money. Figure in her property taxes, the cost to heat and cool the house, repairs, landscaping(26 acres) it adds up.

She doesn't have a job, she has 8 kids, her ex works what a low paying job now.

Anyway you slice it the money is going to run out.

I predict at some point the house will have to go.

*****

Including school tuition, and all other expenses, she needs at least between $325,000 and $345,000 a year to live there. Whatever is invested cannot produce that much interest per year. She eventually will have to take from the principal.

At 72 and living with a good income for one, there is no way in hell I would spend a penny of it to go on a cruise that she was even on, let alone as part of her cadre. She is the epitome of disgusting! For someone 37 (looking 50+) to think all the procedures she has had done have made her a 'hottie' shows that she is delusional, a documented part of her narcicissim (sp?).

The cruise is going to Haiti. Really Kate? That country is still suffering so much without you going there. But wait I forgot the cruise company has a private beach so you do not have to see all the sadness. You can just tan yourself orange ( and cry about being sun burned later ala Key West) while 7 out of 10 Hatians live off less than $2 a day (info from the Red Cross). As long as Kate makes her $, what does she care.

Actually this is where the cruise is going:
(Source is her cruise website)

Kate Gosselin Cruise
Western Caribbean - August 12-19, 2012 (7 Nights)

Aug. 12 - depart Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Arrive early and enjoy sunny Ft. Lauderdale. For sun-worshippers, the city has six miles of beaches. There are also many recreational waterways with extensive boating facilities, access to every conceivable watersport, a variety of fascinating museums and trendy restaurants, and an array of entertainment venues.

Aug. 13 - at sea. Join Kate's exclusive events.

Aug. 14 - Labadee, Haiti. On the north coast of Hispaniola, surrounded by beautiful mountain slopes and exotic foliage, sits Labadee®, Royal Caribbean's private paradise. This exclusive destination offers pristine beaches, breathtaking scenery and spectacular water activities.

Aug. 15 - Falmouth, Jamaica. Step off the ship and step back in time. Falmouth is a historic gem that was recently named Port of the Year by the Seatrade Insider Cruise Awards. Recognized worldwide as one of the Caribbean's most significant and historically-rich destinations, quaint Falmouth boasts uniquely beautiful and varied 19th century Georgian architecture throughout the town, from wooden cottages to brick mansions to plantation complexes. With horse-and-buggy rides, arts and crafts offerings, and flavorful local fare, Falmouth delivers a quintessential Caribbean experience with a nod to its colonial past.

Aug. 16 - at sea with Kate.

Aug. 17 - Cozumel, Mexico. The Conquistadors first saw Mexico from the shores of Cozumel while searching for gold. Today, visitors to the island continue to seek out gold and silver jewelry in the shops of San Miguel while having a great time in its many local bars and restaurants. The waters around Cozumel's sheltered coral reefs make this one of the best snorkeling areas in the world.

Aug. 18 - at sea. Join Kate's exclusive events.

Aug. 19 - disembark Ft. Lauderdale

Iggy....They must have changed the schedule. I obtained the info I transmitted from Royal Carabain? web site yesterday.

Starting the 12 of August. Was it not orignally scheduled to depart 8/15?

I heard on tv this morning, curise lines are hurting, due to recent mishaps..

Anyone know how many have signed up with Kate?

She may have 79,000 following, first time, however last time I checked she had 29 "followers.

With all the recent incidents with cruise ships, including the group who were robbed while on a day trip(I believe it was Carnival in Mexico) and the other ship that was stranded. The passengers were in 110 degree heat in their rooms, no toilets flushing....NO THANKS.

And why anyone would take this cruise in August instead of Dec/Jan is beyond me.

Obviously, In Dec/Jan/Feb these cruise promotions include real celebrities. People like Kate are only offered those taking place in the off months.

Kate made an appearance at the Red Cross Ball in Philly last nite.
Can't help but wonder, was this a
paid appearance and who was her date? She wore a black dress of
feathers. Wow!!!
Maybe she met Prince Charming!!
