Yeah, she confirmed it on her Twitter, which is how I found out about it. It's been 6 years and it's finally over!

I've never been against the ideas of these families doing specials to keep the public out of their lives, but Kate wants the public in EVERY aspect of theirs, whether she'll admit it or not. For some reason, I have trouble believing this is over...

Everyone please join me in doing the Happy Dance!!!

Does this mean Steve is relieved from his duties now? How soon does everyone think the McMansion will go up for sale?

She's already tweeted that she will be glad to have more time for writing books and motivational speaking. I can't stop laughing.

Go away, Kate. Just go away.

Brummygirl said...

Well, I guess this means the kids will not have cameras in their faces 24/7, but the "checking in periodically with the family", still means T.L.C. has not let go completely. I am sure Kate is still hoping for some air time herself, one way or another.
You know the old saying..."it aint over until the fat lady sings"....hmmm..wonder how good a voice B.M. has!! :)

Another thought, not trusting T.L.C., has the announcement come to gain more viewership for what is left of the season. If numbers rose, would they reinstate it.
Call me a nay sayer, but I do not trust T.L.C. or Kate on anything.

I tuned out of this fiasco when they annouced their divorce. There are no words to how vile I think this woman is. I just happened to seet his on internet and loudly yelled "YES!!!". It's about damm time this pathetic excuse for a show was canceled. SHe is an awful hateful person who deserves the worst to happen to her. I predict in one years time she will be foreclosing on her mansion.

Marge said...

Let's just hope that another network doesn't pick her up as a talk show host or put her on "The Bachelorette" or some other such reality show drivel.

Thank GOD her girls are too old for "Toddlers and Tiaras", or we'd see her pop up there.

Linda Hoyt said...

Odd thing is I found the book, "Multiple Blessings" written by Beth Carson; the other day for 1 dollar.

It is written very well, and I enjoy it so much. Jon is a hero in that book. How could she have treated him so horribly?

Kate should read the book and try to emulate the person there. That is the person who gained the fans. That is the person who generated the crowds at the "motivational talks". Yet, in reality, she certainly is NOT that person.

Kate's reality is actually "vertigo". She actually thought she was soaring towards the heavens, when in reality she was flying as fast as she could into the ground. Fame clouded her eyes like fog, and instead of looking at her "instrument panel"--her faith in Jesus Christ-- to guide her through fame and fortune, she looked around her at the falsehoods and drove her faith, her friendships, her marriage, and her family into the ground.

There is no words of wisdom that she could share.

GOOD RIDDANCE! I see the specials in the future, where the grown children talk about how she ruined their lives...

It's A Little Too Soon To Celebrate said...

I wouldn't celebrate just yet. The goal should be to get the kids off tv so they can have a regular life.

Do you think at this point the kids can have a regular life considering being in front of the camera 24/7 is all they have ever known and now the people who were "family" as Kate called them are all out of the picture?

Something tells me Katie's tempter is probably a million times worse since she has to be wonddering where the next paycheck will come from. Jon's not around. Everyone from their past was pushed away by Kate. If TLC isn't paying for the nanny, I doubt she'll be there. Will Boyfriend Steve still be needed since Kate will be a nobody again? With nobody there, who will get the blunt of Kate's frustrations? Those poor kids. More to the point, probably those "icky" unwanted boys.

TLC will still be doing specials and you know Kate will not just roll over and go back to nursing.

Sadly, I wouldn't celebrate yet. It's a H-U-G-E step forward, but the damage has been done, and my hunch says we haven't seen the last of Kate or her 8.

so sick of her said...

This is the best news this year!
To: Linda Hoyt: what kind of motivational speaking can this woman do? What? how to grift, get stuff for free, how to sell out you children, how to get rid of an husband who becomes a rebel, how to get rid of relatives and friends who don't see eye to eye with you, or how to get fans to workship you then dump them, how to be rude to working people or how to be a diva? I guess that is a lot of areas Kate could talk about. But, I'm som glad(doing the HAPPY DANCE, and I'm so over her. Everyone here: Good have a good life, be happy and healthy. This is my last message.

FINALLY! They got it right and cancelled this horrible circus act!!!

Jenny O said...

I am very pleased to hear the news. This may explain Kate's recent attempts to garner interest in a dating show for herself - she's no doubt desperately hoping there will be some network, somewhere, that wants to put her in any type of show. Given her age and negative popularity rating, I think this is fairly unlikely.

However, if she is offered a show of her own (as host, as single mom looking for love, or anything at all) - I really have no problem with that. As long as the children are left out of it, I'll be satisfied.

Deeg said...

Even though her show has been cancelled, Kate will have some spin on it such as "I knew it wasn't forever"...."the kids are older now and it's best for them to end it"....even though she just said on the Today show last week that it wasn't going to be cancelled. I sure hope there is some money somewhere because I don't think Jon can afford to keep her living in the style to which she has become accustomed. He's a real working man now, with a real (meaning normal) salary. Remember a couple of years ago when Kate looked like a regular, normal person that didn't wear stillettos everyplace she went?!!!

I doubt the end of this show is the last we'll hear of this deluded woman. I hate to say it, but I am sure some network out there is still interested in developing a new show with her involved. Talk shows, et al will still invite her to be a guest. I for one am GLAD this show is over. But I don't underestimate this woman's determination to claw her way into any semblance of celebrity, by hook or by crook. Narcissist is right. In the preview for tonight's episode, it looks like she has cut ties with another person. Definitely a pattern with this woman. Then she complains she is alone, "woe is me." Classic victim mentality. What a worthless POS.

This timing could not be more funny! I guess Perez Hilton was right and her statements on The Today Show (etc) were all a big lie. I think she said something along the lines of "if we are being cancelled, then I don't know about that" - Hahahaha. well, now she knows. Unfortunately those kids have to grow up with their spiteful bitch of a mom, but at least they won't have a camera constantly shoved in their faces.

SmileyGrl752 said...

Kate claimed the kids were crying at breakfast when she told them (yeah right!) the show was cancelled.

If the kids were crying at breakfast, I hope they were crying tears of joy at finally being released from the TLC crew.

I am so thankful the kids are finally free, but am disappointed to hear that the crew wants to keep in touch and do specials periodically. Hopefully by then Jon'll have full custody and won't allow it.

I read about the cancellation on gawker.com and suddenly felt a strong bond with the wonderful moderators of this site and with a great many of you who have so eloquently expressed your concern for the well being of the Gosselin children over the years.

I was one of those people who came across Jon and Kate Plus 8 early into the first season and thought it was a "cute" documentary. And like many of you, I was soon horrified by the blatant disrespect and belittling of the children by their mother. The absence of unconditional love in that household was palpable and disturbing.

It was hugely reassuring to come across this website and realize that other people felt the exploitation and belittling of children on reality television was wrong.

Thanks to the moderators and all of you for speaking up, for writing sponsors and public officials in PA. I firmly believe that Gosselins Without Pity had a loud voice and made a significant impact.

I was so happy to hear the news; a friend called me just to tell me about the cancellation. The more I think about it though, I worry about the kids. And I don't think Kate is done. I think she will try to stay on television in any capacity she can as she is convinced she has talent.
I think Mady may also have aspirations and I don't think she has that kind of talent either.
I've always liked that kid and I hope she moves on to a more normal life and is happy.

I hope to see Kate fade from view, but time will tell. Still, it's a start!

k8edid & Deeg...thanks for saying everything on my mind. At long last the Gosselin saga is over, unfortunately I think we all know we're nowhere near the end of Kate. I'm sure TLC has plenty of ideas in the works, and in denial about the fact that absolutely no one gives a care. If TLC wants to scrape the bottom of the barrel for "Kate ratings", I suggest having her go on "What Not To Wear"...that might be the only thing left worth watching.

ToTheMoonAlice said...

I think the posters who believe that Kate won't be going away (even if this show is) are correct. Kate will do what she thinks she has to to stay a "star". She WILL be back in the news, and on TV...she's controversial, and that can be news. She is like the "Teflon Don"...stuff just doesn't seem to stick to her, and she emerges again...to my utter dismay, let me say.

As long as the children can have more privacy, that's all I've hoped, and all I will now expect. That I will see more of Kate, whether I want to or not, is what I expect from her.

Great News! I haven't watched the show since they moved to the new house. I just hope she is not blaming the kids or telling them they will have to go to a new "free" school or telling them they will never have another vacation.

All of us posters have very strong feelings. Years ago, I fell in love with the "Two six year olds and six two year olds". As early as "Multiple Blessings", I started to have mixed feelings about Kate - particularly when she made remarks about being so glad when the volunteers who helped finally got out of her house. I found that comment ungrateful. Over time, I continued watching the show because of the kids. The Disneyworld episode where Kate was so very rude to the employees there really bothered me, but I loved the kids and wanted to watch them. Over time, it's gotten worse and worse. It's now because of the love of the kids that I'm glad this day has come. They clearly haven't been having fun for some time. They seem to be cringing in front of the camera. I don't know if yearly specials are going to be easier on the kids. I don't know if anyone would watch. I want them to have as much anonymity as possible now. Live your lives, Eight! We'll miss you, but this is what's best for you.

Anonymous said...

Thank God! Unfortunately, I think the damage may already have been done. The kids, especially the twins, have spent most of their formative years in front of the cameras 24/7. There will definitely be a fallout from this, but we may not see it until they're in their late teens or early twenties and out of Kate's immediate control.

THANK GOD she is DONE! It has been a LONG time coming and actually it is OVERDUE. She needed to be off tv a long time ago. She said last week on the Today show that the show is very stable and isnt going anywhere. Seems to me TLC screwed her over in the end and it could NOT happen to a nicer person. Time to let your little pay checks go back to school and be kids again and HER to go to work. I hope we NEVER see her on TV again. And actually her likability is SO low that NO ONE wants her.

Aunt Chris said...

Her popularity is what caused the cancellation. Other people(networks)
see that and I would highly doubt anyone will put her on tv. At the height of their popularity is when she stood a chance to get something else but she wore out her welcome. I would be shocked if we see her on anything of substance anytime soon. Remember her telling EVERYONE she had that talk show on lock? Well we all see how that ended up. She isnt on it. She is DONE. She will have to get a job unless she invested properly which with her background I highly doubt. How will she pay for tanning ,extensions, fake nails, botox, ( u have to get your boobs fixed every 10 yrs ) plastic surgeries. She is screwed.

Thank you ALL at GWOP for your contributions to my sanity.

Not at all surprisingly, all her recent publicity visits including Joy Behar, failed to acknowledge the likelihood of cancellation. As of just last week, K8G was blathering on as if the children are (as always) "doing wonderfully" and gave no indication that she was expecting the axe. The woman is delusional AND a liar, so not sure on what to blame her recent optimism, but whenever considering anything Gosselin, deceit always rises right to the top of my list.

Hmmm.... no further mention of "Twisted Kate". I guess it's still 'being tweaked'....... (uh huh, sure, K8)

Is it coincidence that TLC dumped Kate + 8 now, just before PA's new laws take effect(in October, is it?) regarding filming of minors?

I truly wonder if that had something to do with this decision.

Won't be surprised if they already have something else in the works for Kate on their exploitation network. Or perhaps her manager has something else already lined up for her elsewhere. Why do I think this? Because otherwise I don't think she'd have the mental strength to even be tweeting today. Or tomorrow, or the next day...

The same for me. Kate was still married to Jon, and she was going on book and speaking tours. I noticed she was becoming more full of herself, and I ended up here.

Kate is the type to never give up so I'm sure she'll try to stay in show biz. On twitter, it sounded like she would go back to nursing, if she had to.

It's good for the kids, but they still have Kate. At least school will be starting soon, and they will have an outlet.

She is so desperate. She's willing to pimp her kids out however she can.

Exhausted said...

Great news because Kate deserves it; unfortunately, the children can't ride into the sunset. I don't know what Kate will be without TLC. They have been her sponsor all this time--from her bodyguard to probably some of her nannies and household help to the big lawyers who helped her get custody and a wonderful deal in the divorce. I don't know what she will be or do without TLC's backing. The house of cards will certainly fall--I'm sure the publicist/manager is attached to TLC as well, so where do interviews and speaking engagements come from if no one is handling that?

Kate's an idiot, but it sickens me that TLC helped to make this huge mess, and now they just leave those poor kids so well known but high and dry. They are really at risk for a long time, and if Kate won't pay for security for them, yikes. TLC should provide lifelong bodyguards and financial support for those poor kids for all they gave up to make that company and their horrible mother millions of dollars.

Does anyone also think it's strange that TLC didn't let her say she decided not to continue? Often, companies will do that if they are on good terms. They will tell the actor or anchor or whomever that they can just say they decided to pursue other projects when, in essence, they were fired. I wonder if things ended badly with Kate--that this was why they felt the need to announce that she was canceled. If they still liked her, wouldn't they let her pretend to act like a good mother and say it was her wish to end this to give the children, finally, a normal childhood? Maybe they figured no one would buy it!

The paps are only an issue bcuz SHE makes it an issue. some how i dont believe that they're camped out at her property any more.. She's a non-issue.
its really sad that the kids refer to memories as EPISODES... Hope that house is paid for or we'll eventually hear that she's had to down-size, back to the original home. Poor poor Khate - I will not miss her- too bad the damage has already been done to the kids

They must be ready to push her out the door. When Table for 12 was canceled, the Hayes family said it was canceled. No press release just blew away. I am happy to see the Hayes off TV. It's ashame that the kids will not be able to put this behind them, but the videos will prove great reference material when they start writing their tell all books. As for the orange hue she is sporting, Jersey Shore is on fire with ratings. Don't be surprised if she goes back to brunette and starts sporting a poof. At this point, nothing would suprise me more than her fading into reality oblivion where she can be remembered as the woman who taught America how NOT to parent.

I still predict she's changing networks for a dating show.

Which will take her away from the kids again. And maybe still involve her having a bodyguard!

Before the official announcement that Katie Couric was leaving CBS, she was on The View, and she and Barbara were acting all coy about her new plans, and how she couldn't say. A few weeks later--there she was announcing that her new home would be ABC.

So I still wonder if Kate will have a show on NBC, where they keep promo-ing/interviewing her. Just sayin'

Television is a ratings driven business. Ratings set the amount of money networks can charge for time. Networks would encourage Kate to mudwrestle a crocodile while whistling Disney tunes if it would get the eyeballs on the set.
I'm glad the show is cancelled but that is only the first step in getting her permanently off television (which I think is important because she will always use the children as props... I cringe for the day the girls start their periods if their mother has any voice on television).
The next important aspect to is help make sure any show that features Kate in any capacity loses audience shares when she is a featured guest, actor, performer, etc. This only true way to make sure she gets off television and her children have peace. If networks lose money by using her, then they will move on to something else and allow the children to live in obscurity.
I haven't watched a show she has been on in 3 years, and I vow to turn off the set or change the channel anytime she pops on my screen.

I have terrible visions of this vindictive, self-absorbed witch taking out her frustrations on her 8. K8 better start dusting off that nurse's uniform. Given her dwindling numbers, negative buzz, etc., I can't imagine too many networks touching her with the proverbial ten-foot pole.

@SobbyMcFibberPants: I will miss your comments, which always brought me a laugh!

re: K8G's "Bills in my Bag" farewell tour, I'm thinking this theme will be homogenized into her 'motivational speaking' tours, which will bring her full circle, back to visiting churches, poor mouthing and asking for 'love offerings'. For Kate Gosselin, THIS full 360 is the only 'circle of life' she knows.

It's great that the show finally bit the dust, but I don't know if the kids are going to be gaining a normal existence soon.

Kate so far seems to have the survival ability of a cockroach. Add to that the narcissism, and it wouldn't be a surprise if she persisted in doing whatever she could to get media attention. It's been quite a while since the divorce, and she's still willing to play the "Jon wronged me" card long after most people stopped caring to hear about it.

She still has primary custody of the kids, so if TLC is serious about future specials (assuming that wasn't press-release boilerplate text), the kids will get drafted for that. I hope the future specials don't come about, but if they do, I hope the kids learn about self-expression via the middle finger by the time the cameras start rolling.

Now that Kate's no longer bound by a TV contract, I wonder if that's going to turn her loose to pull all sorts of stunts on the kids. Given that she's such a narcissist, what's going to happen if she decides the kids are of no use to her anymore? If the kids are lucky, they get dumped onto Jon.

As long as Kate has control of the kids' lives, I'm not sure how much of a normal existence the kids are going to enjoy in the wake of the show going bye-bye.

Kate is saying on her twitter that she plans to stay in television even though the show has been cancelled. I wonder how in the world she plans to do that??

And then she goes on to say that Mady wants to continue being on tv and then says "Disney anyone?"
===========================

I'm not surprised at her delusion. Of course Kate plans to stay in television. But that's not relevant. Do TV execs have the same plan? Apparently TLC does not -- since nary a single episode of Twist of Kate made the air. If TLC had another show for Kate in the works, they would be trotting it out in their fall line up right now. Nope, she's persona non grata (finally) at TLC. Wonder if she got to have purseboy fetch and carry for her one last time *sniffle*

And sorry Kate, but none of your kids will become Disney stars. None of them have exhibited any trace of the powerhouse of talent it takes to become a Disney star (dancing, singing and acting all necessary). We saw Kate's feeble attempts to get the twins into modeling, commercials, acting years ago - and that talent agent had Kate's number but good. When Kate learned that she'd have to sit down and shut up, that was the end of that. LOL.

Yessir, looks like Katie Irene will have to *gasp!* get a real job with the peons. Somehow, I don't think she can hold a real job for long -- too plain miserable and worthless.

Kate is acting the way she is on Twitter to "save face." She doesn't want any of her "haters" to feel this is a victory.

But it is, of course. The show is cancelled and her kids now have a chance to regain a normal life, although I have serious doubts that it will ever be truly normal for them with self-centered Kate as their mother. She is so determined to stay in the spotlight. She WILL do anything.

Deep down, Kate is probably very upset the show is ending.

Does anyone also think it's strange that TLC didn't let her say she decided not to continue? ....I wonder if things ended badly with Kate--that this was why they felt the need to announce that she was canceled. If they still liked her, wouldn't they let her pretend to act like a good mother and say it was her wish to end this to give the children, finally, a normal childhood? Maybe they figured no one would buy it!

Shows with babies and toddlers have a self-limiting lifetime because the kids grow up quickly and lose their "cute appeal". The divorce and tabloid publicity was a windfall for TLC that got them another 3 years mileage out of the show, but in that time Kate lawyered-up and pressed her advantage with the network. Believe me, her physical transformation was not TLC's idea. A bottle-blond short-skirted high-heeled low-cut mom of 8 was NOT TLC's idea! At the point where the divorce was settled and Jon withdrew from the limelight and the tabloid fodder ceased, TLC dutifully held to their contractual obligation until the ratings dipped to the trigger point and they could cancel. Clearly there was/is no love lost between TLC and Kate. The vague allusion to future specials is merely to placate Kate-fans who watch other TLC shows.

Our local TV station announced on this morning's news that the show had been cancelled. The gal then said that Kate looks forward to having more time for motivational speaking. Is Kate that stupid? What would the subject matter be for her talks?

Also, for the first time in years I briefly stopped while surfing the channels last night to catch some of Kate plus 8. My granddaughter is two months younger than these children and she can hold an intelligent conversation with adults showing any extraordinary vocabulary. I was shocked at the manner in which those kids replied to the questions about their favorite "episodes". Some of the answers were gibberish and sounded like they were coming from three years old.

I am the same person who reported seeing Mady and Cara at the book store with their tutor and reported how happy and normal they appeared. That was definitely not what I saw last night while watching them - I thought last night's show portrayed them as snobs and even showed a bit of an attitude. Oh well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree so they say.

I saw the announcement on my Yahoo homepage this morning and it made my day! I think it was 2008 when some J&K+8 viewers began talking about the exploitation of the kids, and Kate's behavior toward Jon. It was not a popular opinion back then, with lots of naysayers defending them. Then came the rumors of Jon's infidelity, the divorce and the nonstop publicity, and more people realized what was happening to these kids. Now we can see how the kids have been affected, and can only hope they'll finally be able to live a normal life without cameras. Despite Kate's claim that the kids cried and missed the production folks when they weren't filming, I don't believe the kids will miss the filming at all. The only one crying about the departure of the film crews will be Kate!

I think with TLC's promos the last week plus you could kind of see the writing on the wall. The next new episode being previewed in commercials makes Kate look like a shrew, screeching at other people, demanding, complaining about how little help she's gotten...so I also (as another poster said) wonder how bad the parting between TLC and Kate is going?

SuziQ said...

Yikes - Kate is showing her true colors over at Twitter! She is retweeting posts implying that TLC didn't do enough to promote her show and she is also arguing openly with other users on Twitter regarding her divorce. She is treading on dangerous ground in my opinion and making herself look even worse (if that is at all possible!)

cossysmom said...

I just pray that Kate will figure out some way to make a living that will not involve being on TV. I don't know what that is, but she's had plenty of time to develop connections and ideas. I hope she hasn't squandered that opportunity! I just fear that now the kids will be even more isolated.

Flora said...

WOOHOO! Great news! First smart move by TLC ever, as far as I'm concerned. I bet Kate will be on another reality TV show at some point, however. Maybe she could start with another TLC "hit", "My Strange Addiction." The episode could be titled "Obsessed with Fame" or something of the kind. Oh, wait. That would mean admitting she has a problem, wouldn't it?

I wonder if the fact that she made the 10 most hate people list had anything to do with it. Sponsors don't want their products associated with someone people hate. That may have been the top of the iceberg for TLC.

Thanks O-Hi-O, I have had many laughs here as well and always appreciated having a place to rant.
I love the circle of life comment. I can picture her walking out onto a stage while that song plays in the background, unpaid bills neatly stacked in a Louis Vuitton on her arm.
Motivational speaking? Well, the oompa loompas taught life lessons, and she has got the look so maybe she can pull it off. I feel motivated to to roll my eyes when I see her so that is a start.
As always, she is keeping it classy with her latest revelation. The children are begging her for a new dad, so now she is ready to date. How original. Isn't throwing Jon under the bus a bit 2009? That angle is tired, along with shows about how she does it all herself, cupcakes, back to school lunches, and vacations. I hope this blog continues because I think we all know she really isn't going away, and I may need you all to talk me down in the future. Sorry for going on and on, but commenting here is like riding a bike. Once you get started again, you remember how easy it is.

I did go to Kate's twitter page, and then on to two other twitter pages (one who advised Kate to get counseling so she could move beyond her divorce bitterness, and the other "truth-teller, a rabid fan). What I found interesting is that the fan, truth-teller, is worried that Kate will have to move and take the kids out of private school.

Seems to me that if Kate had been more wise in her spending decisions along the way, she would still have a great deal of money in the bank. That McMansion was a foolish purchase and now probably valued at less than the purchase price. Private school tuition for 8 children is a luxury, not a right.

If only she had been satisfied with a larger yet more modest home. If only she could have placed the children in a public school. If only she hadn't blown money on a body guard she didn't need, excessive tanning, designer clothes, expensive vehicles, jewelry, cosmetic surgery, hair weaves and costly hair cuts, etc., etc.

A fool and her childrens' money are soon parted. If she has to sell the house and take the kids out of their school, it will be her own fault for spending like a drunken sailor.

Kinda funny, when Jon hasn't done anything publicly stupid for a year or so, and Kate does something almost every week.

Like go on national TV and publicly bash the children's father, or scream at people like the bungee jumping guy.

Some one on here mentioned "Multiple Blessings" and Beth Carson, well Beth wrote the book not Kate which is why it seems so out of character, if Kate added anything it was not based on reality it was all fake. Beth is another person that has disappeared. Kate wanted Beth's life, it's clear from the shows Kate wanted a house and property just like Beth. I believe she used Beth and her family then banished them cause they would get paid since they were regulars on the show like Jodi and Kevin were. I secretly hope Beth and her family realized the truth behind Kate and banished themselves. Well now Kate got everything Beth had and more because she is "famous." Kate wants this fame but she hates the paparazzi but if they weren't there her fame woulda faded, she should be grateful they are following her and they continue to as well. There are consequences to all actions and Kate sold herself and the kids to the devil so you have to deal with the paparazzi. If she didn't act like such a b*tchy diva and would just ignore the paps as much as possible they'd probably leave them alone or give them a little distance. Her reactions feed the frezy. In Australia there was 1 guy maybe 2 when they were horse back riding and Kate caused the situation to elevate the way it did. Well I'm just glad the show has ended and I hope her fame fades into the sunset.

I have always thought that something happened in Utah while on the ski trip that made Beth walk out on Kate and her TV show. I don't think it had anything to do with being paid for appearing on TV. If you remember we were told that Beth had to leave because of her daughter's birthday. This was a load of bull because I am sure before Beth agreed to go that she knew it was her daughter's birthday and made alternate plans for the celebration when she returned. I guess we will have to wait for Beth's tell-all for the answer and I don't think that will ever happen.

It's quite anticlimactic, isn't it. Interest just faded away but that's kind of what happens when you overstay your welcome. I happened to be channel-surfing on my husband's ancient little man-cave TV and he's got TLC on his line-up, whereas we've taken it off the main room's TV. Here was Kate, answering viewer questions; ho-hum, I haven't missed a thing, same old same old. Got a glimpse of the kids; poor Cara seems as glum as always, little dear. I'm glad cameras are over for them, finally. I'm sure as they're older, any TLC "special" will reveal them rebelling against the intrusion of filming (can't blame them). I've since seen some web articles about what Jon thinks of it and, well, we can see from that Q&A session that Kate can barely be civil when speaking of him; just seems obvious the extent of their animosity. Must be rotten for the kids; stressful. Can't make them feel secure with two parents skewering each other. Just hope their childhood will settle down now and, I have to say, I'm not going to miss any of them and it's best if we all feel like that so they can disappear into mainstream life. Obviously if one of the kids has a tell-all some day, or if anybody else spills, I'd like to hear other sides to the story of this sad saga. In the meantime, adios, au revoir and, who knows, maybe the kids can survive being their parents' little moneymakers. Hoping the best for all eight! They deserve some anonymity for the remainder of their growing-up years.

All I can say is that I hope the next time I see Khate that it is on Celebrity Fit Club.

She might try a Michaele Salehi and fake an addiction for Celebrity Rehab (I won't wish real addiction on anyone, even Khate) but I truly hope the show's cancellation impacts the kids in positive way so they can try and heal. Even if Khate gets her own show maybe she'll decide she no longer wants so much custody and will let Jon take over.

Thanks to mods here, this is home for me when it comes to supporting the Gosselin kids AND dissing Khate.

If TLC is smart, they will have a special which exposes the REAL REALITY of Katie Krieder Gosselin. Have the PA's and crew tell their stories and the truth about the Ex-Mrs. Gosselin! Bring in the folks from their other shows, who were forced to interact with her, and have them tell their stories. Bring in the nannies, the cooks and the makeup artists.

The company should tell how she cost them gobs of money and called them endlessly and became a headeache.

I am telling you, they would make a TON of money.

As far as Kate is concerned, I pray earnestly, and in a very heartfelt manner, in the name of Jesus Christ....that Kate would be treated in the same manner she has treated the rest of her family. I pray that she would be given the same measure of grace, compassion and understanding that she has given others. The Bible says that with the same measure you have given, you shall recieve. Let it be so Lord; let it be so.

Regarding the Beth situation. A couple of years ago I read an article that stated that right up until publication of Multiple Blessings, Beth and Kate were the authors and it was advertised as such. Then Kate realized (or was advised) that if she added Jon's name as a co-author Beth would only get one-third of the profits and she and Jon would get two-thirds. I don't know if this is true or not, but the book is dedicated to Jon so why would he co-author a book that was dedicated to him? Doesn't make sense. If it is true, it would explain the break up of the friendship which happened at or near the time of the publication of the book. And can you think of anything lower to do to someone who had been such a good and loyal friend?

Sure, Jon screwed up royally when they were first separated. But over the last year he has turned that around. Gotten out of the limelight, is in a good relationship, and has a normal job.

Everyone makes mistakes, not everyone can turn it around like he has so far. Let's see Kate do the same.

After news broke that TLC would be bringing down the axe on Kate Gosselin's show, "Kate Plus 8" upon its 150th episode, no one was more shocked than Gosselin, herself. But anyone that thinks America’s most famous mom is going away needs to think again.

“Kate is already planning her next career move,” a friend of Jon Gosselin's ex tells me. “For sure she’s not looking to find a 9-5 job but instead, [she's] looking to start up her own production company.”

Just a few weeks ago, Gosselin told me that she had her eye on producing, saying, “I know when things translate into TV. I’m good at it 'cause I live this life. I have had people come to me and say ‘I have this great idea for a reality TV show.’ I actually, in my mind, can play it out and see it happening ... for me it's like writing a living book and I really love to write.”

In addition to reality shows, Gosselin is also looking to write another book, get into acting and is even interested in having her own fragrance.

“As far as Kate is concerned, she is TV gold,” a friend of Gosselin's tells me. “What is TLC's loss will be another networks gain.”

Kate has always had big delusions er dreams. Just because she bumbled into infamy once doesn't mean she can continue it. Her time is past and she's going to be the last person to realize it.

I would imagine she cannot sustain that Mcmansion for another year. If one does a websearch the property is now valued at $652,100, a far cry from the $1,120,000 they paid. The taxes alone for 2011 were $16,290. She is probably caring a monthly mortgage payment of $4-6 thousands. Is it possible for her to keep this house? I doubt it on a nurses salary. She would need to land another full time job on tv.

What hilarity. Kate thinks she is "TV gold." Sure, if you mean the like the "gold" ring that turns your finger green after awhile. Or fool's gold.

And she wants to start up a production company huh? What what funds Kate?

Has anyone ever read or listened to producers actually talk about getting a show on the air? How many hoops they have to jump through, contacts they reach out to, the ups and downs, etc.? Even people well known and respected in the industry can have major struggles getting a new show up and running. Now here comes this stuck up, delusional harpy thinking she's gonna be able to sell her production ideas to some network brass? Well, she'll have plenty of time to sit around waiting for the return calls that never materialize.

To be frank, I doubt Kate could hold down any kind of real job. She's just too unpleasant, and besides which, she's lazy as all get out. She might get hired, but she wouldn't last long.

I don't know why they couldn't go to public school. Even if Cara and Mady kept going to the private school there is a great elementary school very close to their home for the younger ones. I think it was just built last year and is suppose to be very nice. It is an excellent school system. It would take them about 10 minutes to get to school.

As far as the paps go, there aren't any contrary to what Kate wants you to believe. There has only been one around for a long, long time and because he knows when to show up at the places she shops it is obvious he is being tipped off by someone in the know (Kate?). The numerous times we went round and round on this beloved blog (GWoP)regarding "WHAT happened to Beth and WHEN did it happen?", only me and possibly one other poster believed Utah was the coup de grace to that relationship. Maybe it was you who agreed with me!
NO ONE else saw it my way, even when I pinpointed the exact moment it happened. I felt so alone... just kidding, sort of!

THANKS for your comment, especially in light of the circumstances; this is most likely my final post about all things Greedslin!

Sorry some posters felt alone in their idea that Beth's "last straw" moment happened on the trip to Utah. When she left suddenly with a weak explanation, and then was never seen again -- it was pretty clear something occurred on the trip.

Maybe an outburst of some kind from Kate that revealed her dark side.

Something serious had to have been said or occurred for Beth to be completely shocked or upset to say "I'm out of here, NOW."

As to the cancellation -- I wonder if it's a combination of the lower ratings plus Kate becoming ever more volatile and unpredictable. I think perhaps it has finally sunk through some heads at TLC that working with a person who lives in an alternate reality is really not a good idea, especially when most people find her completely unlikable.

The previews of babysitters and/or nannies saying "I love the kids but I can't take her anymore" are probably just the tip of the iceberg of what really goes on behind the scenes. I'm sure Kate freaks out and yells at the help all the time.

I really feel bad for the children, and I hope most sincerely that they can go live with their father someday soon, and get away from their toxic mother.

Kait's Bait, for those desperately angling for a date.

LOL - that's clever. I do watch Billy the Exterminator once in a while cuz I work with wildlife rescue, and he's great with the critters. He uses animal urine sometimes as a lure. I bet Kate's scent would work well in case he runs out of the critter tinkle.

I have always had the idea that the straw that broke the camel's back (sorry Beth) had something to do with Steve. This was when we first started to question his presence - remember the airplane when Kate had her crying jag? I thought it must have been something to do with him or perhaps Kate confided her feelings for him to Beth.

I once saw Beth and one of her daughters at an ice cream place and wanted to ask her why she so suddenly disappeared but thought better of it. She is obviously a lady and would not have expressed her feelings to me.

Some people have fantasized about a show that would revel the true feelings of those who have been forced to deal with Kate all these years for the sake of the show. We all believe (know) that Kate is a miserable example of a human being and mother and would take great pleasure in having her exposed on TV. As fulfilling as it might be for us hear the truth expressed on a national broadcast, it is the last thing that the children need to hear.

These children already have a lot of baggage to deal with and to hear over and over again whet an awful person their mother is can’t help but cause them more pain. We must all remember that Kate is still their mother, the only mother they will ever have (okay, John might marry and provide them a step-mother but that’s not the same as a mother). The Gosselin 8 have enough issues to deal with that can be laid to rest at the feet of Kate, TLC, and Jon, we don’t need to pile on their misery.

Linda Hoyt said...

Sassypaws, I disagree with you. Those kids are insulated from reality--they are fed lie after lie from their mother.

And expose on Kate would only validate what the kids have lived and recognise is the truth. It will actually HELP them deal with the truth.

Abused children always thing it is their fault. When others express that they recognise the truth, it helps the abused step out of denial and start advocating for themselves.

Elvira said...

Several incidents occurred on the Utah trip. First Kate was so "sick" that she couldn't even help the children get ready. As soon as the children were gone, she had no trouble getting up, dressed, and being all cheery for the spa. The look on Beth's face walking in was like she couldn't believe what Kate was saying. Then we saw Kate couldn't be bothered to go see the kids on the ski slope. Finally, Jon and Kate went out to dinner while poor Beth was frazzled wrangling children who were all but swinging from the chandelier and all Kate brought back to Beth was a piece of chocolate. I think Beth had a very up close look at the real Kate and the picture was baaadddd.

After browsing Kate's tweets over the past few days, it appears she's confident about something. I think there's a show of some kind in the works.

It's sad that Kate doesn't come clean with her twitter followers about her financial stability, be it savings or some gig. They are so very concerned about her and the G8's welfare. Kate seems to be milking it. She retweets sappy, ego boosting, and self serving tweets on a regular basis.

Likely none of them will think Kate selfish once its realized she's not heading to the poor house any time soon.

Jenny O said...

Well, only time will tell if Kate has another tv gig lined up or not. Her ego is so massive that I am sure she cannot conceive of any reason why she should not be on tv forever, as she is "tv gold."

The real question is -- is there a market for a show with Kate Gosselin on it? What sort of viewers would she attract, and are those viewers part of a targeted demographic that interests advertisers?

Kate's age is against her; her over-exposure and general negative popularity rating is also against her. However, she could possibly be offered a slot on some show that would place her in awkward, scary, difficult, or embarrassing situations. I'm thinking something along the line of a low budget Fear Factor-type show. The audience could laugh at her while she has to climb into a large capsule filled with bugs, for instance. In other words, she might be the villain type that audiences could root against. I could see a producer finding her right for that slot.

But Kate is going to find that the road to remaining on tv is much rougher going now. I really doubt she'll get a lasting gig.

Jenny O said...

I really shouldn't - it's mean, but I have to laugh. Just checked out BM's site and there are a total of FIVE comments in response to the news that the show is cancelled (and I do believe two of them are from BM herself). That's it. So much for all those diehard fans who were going to keep the show on the air. It's cancelled and there's a great big "meh" from her biggest fan's fansite. LOL.

I also found it interesting that one of the pictures of Kate featured on the right side of the fanpage is Kate wearing too-short denim shorts, a little white tank top, and bright red stiletto heels, at the gas station. Nothing says "I have no taste and never will" like that outfit! Yet apparently her biggest fan finds it quite charming.

There were so many examples of K8G's inability to cope like an adult (melted ice cream at Disney, Gum Gate, ToysRUs, Crayola, any time she didn't get her way immediately and could blame Jon for her own inabilities) that it became absolutely nonsensical that TLC held her up as a supposed model for other moms, muchless an inspiration to others.

She was more of a textbook case of women who have more children than able to capably parent.

Good riddance to her.

When did that happen? It was still apparent in the photos at the Kentucky Derby. You just don't "fix" a 'wonky' eye. It's not that simple. If correct alignment is possible, it would require surgery, with recup time, and the bruising would be noticeable for several weeks. If only a blepharoplasty is done, there is still post-treatment time, and it would have been noticeable in photos.

Berks Has Shoes! said...

But wouldn't realtors want business despite Kate's personality?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It has nothing to do with Kate's personality. If that asking price is true, she wants much more than market value, which is in the mid $600,000 range. No realtor wants to be saddled with a house that they know would bring nowhere near the asking price. It's not worth their time. They'd be embarrassed to show it for anything over a million.

Kate is "upside down" on the house now. She paid more for it than it is worth and probably has a mortgage that is more than the current value or about the same. If she has a mortgage (which I think she still does), the bank would have to agree to a short sale and in our area the banks aren't doing that very much. Basically she's stuck as so many people are these days.

Hannah said...

I heard they had canceled kate while my computer was out. I immediately thought about GWOP and was already thinking what I could post and writing posts in my head. lol

I just want to say, Thank You, God for cancelling the show! Finally, maybe the kids can get some peace and get settled into school this year and make up for time lost while working/filming.

Jenny O, remember the picture of kate at the gas station in the blue jean shorts and red stiletos? Don't forget the little red bow on the front, next to the Flintstone Toe! Love that!

I went to youtube and watched parts of the Utah trip. kate was so hateful when they went to the skating rink. If she couldn't rollerskate or ice skate, what is she doing out there? They were trying to get the kids skates on and tied and kate acted like the kids could tie them themselves and she was beefing about how long it was taking. Jon said quietly, kate they can't even tie their shoes.

Wow. Then she had the nerve to throw Jon under the bus, bad! She said, quote, I hate Jon for being able to do something so good. She was jealous of Jon that he could skate and help the kids and they were enjoying it. Then she had to get out there and of course a meltdown came and she had to stop and get off the ice. Then later on there she is out there helping one of the tups pushing the walker thing and she was doing it from the side. She was doing pretty well. She is such a pathological liar. She portrays herself as the helpless victim and I am so sick of it.

2.5 million for her house? lol In this economy, real estate market, housing bubble, no Realtor wants to work with her?

kate, some advice. Study for the PA real estate license exam. Save yourself the commission. Remember, you have always said, If it is cost effective, I can do it. The most amount of money, for the shortest time of work. Crack those books!

I twitted Jon and told him how great I thought it was that the kids no longer have to work or film and told him to have a great weekend.

God bless Mady, Joel, Hannah, Alexis, Aaden, Cara, Colin, Leah and Shoka's Understudy (the dog that is there) Jon and Ellen.

Thank you, Mods. I know over the years I have submitted many posts and had alot of them zonked! lol

I wonder if the reality TV genre is finally going to fizzle a bit. I guess these programs are inexpensive to produce, and they can lock their "talent" into iron-clad contracts in case the show takes off--contracts that actors with agents would never agree to. The problem is that they are so, so fake. Instead of just observing a documentary, they are asking people with no acting abilities to be actors. All the situations come across as so manufactured. I watched that show TANKED last night about the guys with the aquariums, and all the dialogue was so fake and put on.

I think people liked Jon and Kate when, in the midst of the orchestrated situations, there was that real element of frustration and conflict. Which brings me to this: how much of the show, early on, do you think was acting? Even though I'm sure Kate is rude and hateful in real life, do you think the outbursts in TOYS R US and in Disney were a performance of any sort? I don't think this is out of character for her, but there were also production people and a camera crew along. You can't forget they are there, even if, as she said, "I don't notice other people." So do you think she found out early on that they wanted these huge performances, and she gave in? Is it one half normal Kate and one half performance, or would she have been the exact way without cameras?

Exhausted, I think that there was a lot of tape filmed and that the editors put together what they thought would sell. Period.

Mr. and Ms. Gosselin were stupid to enter an industry that difficult to navigate, even for them most experienced actor. But they weren't actors, had no union controls or support, and were babes in the woods with the wolves on the prowl.

You can make anyone look terrible on television with some swiftboat editing and a touch of evil music in the background.

I'm not defending Ms. Gosselin--her choice to film her kids was WRONG. I'm just saying that people are more complicated in real life than an edited version of what is shown on television.

HA!

However, I think tv repair has become obsolete. Most things today are considered disposable. Once things stop working, it typically costs more to repair than to replace with a newer, more efficient model.

Just like Kate Gosselin: obsolete and disposable. Just ask TLC.

K8G is now about as useful and beloved as a 1955 vintage tv - nonfunctional, sorely outdated, and useless.

Yes, I think she will and any unpaid child support, if the courts never fixed that huge mess yet.

I think she will play the poor card so some fool will pity her and give her some air-time.

Jenny O said...

I have no idea how PA courts work in regards to alimony. I know in CA, spousal support is no longer a guarantee, especially if the spouse seeking it has job skills necessary to earn a decent income. Kate has her nursing degree and she can take a few courses and renew that license with only a bit of effort.

I think it would be further disgrace if the PA courts rule that Jon would have to pay spousal support. Bitch, get a damn job and stop leeching off others for once in your life.

Debbie H said...

NO WAY would any court award her alimony at this point...That would have been decided at the divorce...that ship has sailed and it's too late for her to get that...Besides, only in the most lenient states can a wife get that anyway now, and that's only in cases where the wife has been dependent on the husband's income for their marriage and is unable to support herself...That's not Kate's case at all...Her only option to get more money out of Jon at this point is to increase his child support...Let's see...he's not making much as it is...Do you really think an extra couple hundred dollars a month is going to help KATE??? No way...Kate's solution will be to send the kids out looking for work to keep on supporting her ass....
