Monday, August 8, DC Cupcake Visit, 9:30 PM

Kate takes Mady and Cara and their two best friends, who are also sisters, to visit and bake with the stars of TLC's DC Cupcakes, Sophie and Katherine. Back home with the sextuplets, it's a boys vs. girls summer games competition. Who will win?
TLC finally put it up 8/5.
30 minutes

TLC does yet another "repeat" type episode.

All I can say is, Poor Chris-The-Pap! His job sucks! He gets the call from Kate--she tells him she'll be at Giant at such'n such a time, he waits, How pathetic, and he's the only one paying attention to her!....HAHAHAHAHAHA!

What I can't understand is kate is not handicapped. The employees at Target are by federal law have to help people who are disabled that need help to load their purchases into their vehicle. She was and is fully capable to load the items that the Target guy was helping her load.

She must claim/complain to the manager at Target that she has a disability that she is being stalked, pursued, harassed by paparazzi and this puts so much stress on her that she can not load her items into her vehicle in a timely manner.

Did you see how she dismissed the guy like he was the hired help.

kate, there is always someone much worser than you. Remember the old saying, you complain you have no shoes, but what about the guy that has no feet?

I can only imagine what she has called the rangers and employees at My Yellowstone and My Rushmore.

The video of Chris in the parking lot was funny! loved the music.

WHY is TLC continuing to film this trash? Have they no other options or deserving families they can air instead of Kate? Give it a rest already TLC!

pinkdiamond611 said...

My prediction -- they are trying to wash the original cupcakegate away. This time Kart will allow the boys to make a mess and eat their cupcakes without eating dinner first! See how much I changed! NOT. Too late. Go Away.

jonandkatewho? said...

I agree Kate will try to make up for how horrible she was to those boys in the past.

As for any episode of this show, ho-friggin'-hum!

The show IS trash, it's just boring, pointless, useless garbage. They are using those kids and coaching them and the kids wind up coming across as annoying. That is hardly fair. It's despicable. And she's all for it. I cannot stomach her.

-----
ITA! It makes me sad when people casually call the kids "brats" or "obnoxious." They are clearly being egged on to wild statements and behavior for the cameras. And it is despicable--how are they supposed to know the line between performance and authenticity when they have been raised as moneymakers for a cable network?

NanaJen said...

Oh, so TLC is grabbing at ever limited straws to somehow get Kate relevent by crossing their current line up of shows with the kid's. It is a good marketing strategy...but Kate isn't right for this. She just makes a mockery of herself and the kids have to wittness and pay the price. Kate should have taken the trip and taped "Kate's" show by herself with the DC Cupcake ladies...she can pretend that she is going to learn how to open her own busines, see how these ladies did it and got to have their own show. She'll self destruct, we all know that...but leave the kids at home to do their own thing. It always, always turns into Kate doing a lot of bossing everyone around; Kate disrespecting the hosts'...In this episode she'll be looking down her nose at two girls that have made a success out of a DC cupcake bakery. Maybe Kate could learn a few things about starting her own business sans the props/kids tagging along. (Note: I've never seen DC Cupcakes, I'm speculating here) She can always say that she'll take 8 cupcakes home for each one of her 8...count 'em 8 kids at the very end of the first episode. Hey, maybe she'll start her own career and have her own show showcasing her new business venture minus the kids. I know, I know...it's been said a million times before....not possible. TLC....really?

sglily said...

DC Cupcakes? Ugh...Once again TLC is so desperate to create a show for Kate that it has to use another show from its own network to do just that.

I doubt there will be anything worth watching except for the amusement of the ridiculous factor, just like when she was paired up with Sarah Palin's Alaska - or the episode with Orange County Choppers & Jon (which, of course, was completely over-shadowed with Kate's "pink Vespa moment")

Oh well, I'm sure it will all end up happily-ever-after: Kate getting to put in her usual comments about too much sugar or too much mess, and then get rewarded with a special, organic cupcake made just for her...awww...

puppy B said...

Will Aeden get to eat his cupcake this time?

O-Hi-O said...

Oh, boy, the fun continues, as we get to watch Kate, The Fun Slayer, criticize and complain about the messiness of cupcakes, and for the grand finale, she'll once again find an excuse to disallow at least one kid's getting to actually eat their cupcake creation for dessert.

Does TLC think we are all memory impaired, thus the repeats ad nauseum of past pretend-fun activities led by America's most embarrassingly obnoxious No Fun Mommy?

Brummygirl said...

Doesn't all their repeats remind you of the movie Groundhog Day? :)

Remember how Kate constantly talks about how "real" this all is. She says they are just living their lives and cameras just happen to be there. Well, the other night on the Real Housewives of New York City reunion Kelly made a comment that Alex wasn't a very good "actor" on the show. She was talking about when the cameras are around. That was a true admission that this is all "acting" and staged. I hate that they think we are all fools. BTW Those particular "ladies" make Kate look good. Reality TV should be taken with a grain of salt.

Jenny O said...

"I hate that they think we are all fools."

______

Don't worry. There is that old saying: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Anyone who still thinks reality shows are "real" are sadly allowing themselves to be duped. It's clearly been shown that these shows are not reality, but manufactured entertainment for the masses. The Kardashians live off money made by acting in a show each week, pretending to be themselves. So do the Duggars, the Roloffs, Kate, every so-called Housewife, etc.

It's all phony baloney. It's cheap to produce, there are more people lined up begging for a reality show of their own than networks can shake a stick at, and yet there are still people who actually believe they are watching something real. It's a sad commentary on where we stand as a society.

Blogs like this do a great service in revealing "the man behind the curtain."

The DC cupcake show is just the twins with Kate. It's a crossover show. They made cupcakes for Kate to take to the Tennessee Food Bank charity event she attended "on her own dime" where only about 100 people showed up to watch the "giving back" episode at a small fairgrounds. You guys remember THAT episode, where she ended up grifting for a ride in a racecar (as set up by TLC) - and got it. Where she purportedly "demanded" a police escort to the food bank warehouse - didn't get that.

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2011/08/kate-gosselin-tries-pick-guy-new-episode-kate-plus-8

Kate Gosselin paid a visit to Georgetown Cupcakes for a new episode of Kate Plus 8, and tried her best to get a hunky bystander interested in her. Not only did the divorced mom of eight fail to light the guy's fire, he had no idea who she was!

Kat - Ruthie-dos.blogspot.com said...

I absolutely love that he showed NO interest in her and better still that he didn't know who she was... I'm sure both were big blows to Katie Kreider's over-inflated ego.

Lainey said...

Ewww...just saw the promo. Could not believe the facade of Kate looking for a man to date and all the idiots twittering in the background. She is the most unsexy human being on the planet. Zero sex appeal. Almost puked when she started snapping her fingers as she was calling for Steve to go out and get the guy. Treats everyone as her servant, even Steve.

Regarding the hair restraints. Yes, it is violation of DC's food handling laws which states that hair restraints must be worn.

Hilarious! She gives the guy a cupcake and he says, "I have a question for you." (Khate, most likely, was thinking, "He's going to ask me out! He's going to ask me out!")

So, how does she respond? "What's up?" Looo-ser!

PASTED THIS FROM TV BY NUMBERS

Kate Plus 8 scored a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating and 1.092 million for the 9pm episode.

Apparently the begging/promoting on each and every single show works somewhat...

Flora said...

In the two minute segment I acctidently saw, Kate says that Mady and Cara have been watching "DC Cupcakes" forever. But isn't that show pretty new? I call BS on it being their favorite. I'd even be willing to bet they've never even seen it.

Cammie said...

Dc cupcakes came out a year ago, but only taped 6 episodes the first season and 12 the second season. I havent seen it rerun alot. I have seen a few reports of customers of georgetown cupcakes saying how scripted the show is. The sisters actually read cue cards, customers have taken pics on their cell phones. Nothing like putting Kate with some scripted sisters.

Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9:30 PM)- 0.907 million viewers

Woo Hoo. Many couldn't stomach the Cupcake visit after watching the 9:00 show. If my math is correct, this drop from 1.092 million for the 9pm episode is a 16.7% drop. If I were an advertiser, I'd be placing my money elsewhere. TLC put a lot of money on traipsing Kate around the chat shows, and couldn't keep the second 1/2 hour above a million!!

DC cupcakes did not come out a year ago. It was not re-run. It was the premiere episode for this season. Kate and the twins went to the bakery to make cupcakes to take to the premiere of her giving back show in Tennessee on June 20.

Globe Trotter said...

Sorry! I just re-read your post and realized that you meant that the DC cupcakes show came out last year, NOT Kate's DC cupcakes episode.
Apologies. I need to get new reading glasses!

You should read the comments more closely, we said that the concept of the episode was a rerun but never said that the episode was a rerun.

Protect8 said...

It was interesting to watch the people in the background during the scenes at the bakery. Kate was incredibly oblivious to the irritation on the faces of many of them. Her mocking the guy with blue hair, saying she was having fun with him, was even more interesting than the reaction of the guy she pulled in off the street. His confusion over why Kate kept saying "blue icing?" quickly became annoyance as he took his box of cupcakes and tried to hurry out. He didn't give a whit about her - she was just holding him up along with everyone else in line. And who are those women who owned the bakery and were fawning all over Kate? My god - the mixture of hair and food in that place was repulsive.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Perhaps I should, and I did, which is why I immediately apologized for mis-reading it.

However, you (or whomever) said nothing about a CONCEPT being a rerun. This is what was posted:

"Dc cupcakes came out a year ago, but only taped 6 episodes the first season and 12 the second season. I havent seen it rerun alot."

How can a concept of an episode be a rerun? A concept is an abstract or generic idea - a cognitive thought. One cannot "rerun" a concept.

Who is "we?" Cammie made the original comment to which I was responding, not Annie2.

From a distance, he did. However, up close, not so much. Steve is more "rugged" looking than that fellow.

BLUE HAIR: You’d think Kate’s been “around” enough to not be phased by blue hair. She rehearsing for a crossover with the Duggars/Bates??

DATING SHOW: It’s obvious she’s desperately buttering up the public to the idea of a dating show for her (NYC meat market club; going through hockey game roster for a potential suitor; DC cupcake pick-up, Today show interview all about kids wanting “new daddy” and how she wishes she could send her friend around the globe to bring back only the good ones for her to choose from). Dating show, coming up, with the “I joked about it and suddenly they offered me a dating show!” Imagine that!

Protect8 said...

Yes - Kate is fishing for a dating show to the extreme. Didn't she even suggest the script when she said in an interview that her friend said she would travel the country to try to find a match for Kate? And now there is the "I want to renew family relationships" and the mention of her mother and father. All for ratings. The commercial promoting her fight with the "best friend" and the babysitter while in an RV looks like TLC decided to go back to the Jon/Kate formula - Kate is super rude to someone who has gone out of their way to help her, then tearfully throws up her hands and says "I'm done" followed by her whining, "What did I do?"

It's all about being a victim.

And of course, this is all done in front of the children.

Mary said...

Hi

Just saw another commerical Ashley gets upset with kate because kate is having a hissy fit and ordering her around. The scene Kate takes a chair and throws it yelling I asked for a chair this is not a chair. then she sits down and yells I asked for help. They are in a camper. Ashley them says I can be on a airplain in a few hours packs her bags and kisses the kids good bye. they is more

Mary said...

update

there are in a camper IS Jamie that is screaming at Kate and saying she can be on a plane out side the camper is Steve, Ashley and kids another scene Kate starts throwing stuff. I asked for a chair and this is not a chair Ashley is in tears and saaing by to kids. She says she can't take her any more. I think all thisa is for people to watch. They are so desperate . As Far as we know both Jamie and Ashley are still there.

I live just outside DC and have actually been to this place. Think it is two sisters who own the place and may have a reality show of their own (maybe thinking fawning over old horse-teeth will get them in better w/ TLC). We see a lot of famous people here who are in politics, outside politics, show business, world-famous folks, and we are not impressed by the likes of this shrew of a terrible mother. Nobody would be impressed to see her in that shop and in fact most would probably not come in if they knew she was there.

Annie2 said...

I hope the camper scene is shown in the next custody court hearing. The judge needs to see how kate acts when she is stressed.

It would mean nothing to a judge. It was filmed by TLC, and the claim would be that it was all acting - all for show, and all for ratings. Drama at its worst.

But then, the judge could reference the court case where the department of labor was investigating the kids role on the show. She said that it was "real life" while under oath. If she says something different now then she was lying back then and could be charged with perjury. Her house of cards is going to fall down eventually and I do feel sorry for the kids who are caught in the middle of this.

______________________

Nobody is going to charge Kate Gosselin with perjury. If Cindy Anthony got away with lying on the stand in a Florida courtroom in a murder trial, do you really think that Kate's going to be brought up on perjury charges for saying her show is "real life." She'd fudge her way around it. This is Kate we're talking about.
