Monday, June 13, Episode 10, 10:30 PM, Chicks & Eggs

The Gosselins are finally sharing their Easter celebration with viewers for the first time! Watch as the kids decorate their own special Easter treat and dye their own Easter eggs. Of course, Easter wouldn't be complete without a good old fashion(ed) egg hunt.

Oh Joy, Easter in June. What a novel idea.

An Easter epi in JUNE? I smell desperation.

Won't they have to explain why they are no longer keeping chickens once all those white store-bought eggs appear? Though of course the usual laws of narrative and cause and effect are awfully weak in Gosselinland.

Coloring eggs and having an egg hunt! So exciting!

I just may have to give up my boycott and watch this one.

Not.

I still say TLC isn't even trying to make her look good. Not that she doesn't do a great job of that herself but how they edit the show and what they put on the show. Go figure. It made me sick to see the ratings went up from this week. Can't imagine this one about Easter will show a gain in viewership.

TLC is now inundating us with promos for the Easter epi. Though I didn't think it possible, the Gosselin mess has become even more unwatchable since it is increasingly obvious that the tups are being encouraged to ACT excited. Like Aaden's scripted line when K8G prevailed in getting the kids back to work, a very phony "Now everything is back to normal!!".

There is nothing 'normal' about the Gosselins.

Blech.

Really??? Their OWN? As opposed to what?

WHUT??? K8G is going to let the kids decorate Easter eggs without screaming at them about making the dreaded mess? Like she did when they carved pumpkins, went to the Crayola factory, ate ice cream cones at Disney, attempted to roll down a grassy slope, make pottery, paint pictures?

Wow. She MUST be really DESPERATE to keep herself on TLC.

I'd watch if Kate licked the chick's foot! Now that's TV!!!

Well, I too would watch that!

I had no interest at all in her date night or birthday celebration with Jamey or whatever she did.

In the promos for the Easter show Monday, does Kate say she has 200 more eggs to hide yet? Surely not that many plus even more for 6 kids to find?

fidosmommy said...

Of course we all know that this episode will be all about Kate's reaction to egg dye in her kitchen. Rather than focusing on the fun the kids might have, I fear we'll be seeing Kate in full screech mode.

Easter egg hunts are something that interests the people who are doing the hunt and their parents/grandparents who squeal with delight at each child's find. It's not fodder for national TV.

I have better things to do on Monday. I'm boxing up things for the Goodwill store. Hardly exciting, but far better use of that 1/2 hour.

Watching someone else's children dye Easter eggs? Isn't that akin to watching paint dry? Gee TLC -- aren't you afraid the old folks might have a heart attack from all this eggcitement? Gong!

However, I am amused to see that TLC has apparently cut the spending allowance for this show. Katie Irene is now stuck pretending she's having fun at her own poolside, instead of strutting around at an expensive beach resort. And because she's dumb as a post, she doesn't realize (yet) that Jamie has been brought on board to act as a buffer between Kate and the audience, much as Jon did. Jon was the likeable foil to Kate's unpleasantness. No more Jon? Bring on the "best friend" Jamie.

Kate will catch on sooner or later and Jamie will disappear without a trace just like Beth and Jodie did. Or perhaps remembered in a casually snide "she didn't know how to help me" way. Enjoy the reflected limelight while you can Jamie, before you slither back under whatever rock you came out from.

Will purse boy be on guard for this Easter egg hunt? Ready at a moment's notice to fetch and carry for Kate? You go little purse handler. (Why do I keep hearing Donna Summer singing "He works hard for the money, so you better treat him right!"?)

I am thinking that TLC just wants to get rid of the show now. Really, who would be interested in watching kids have an egg hunt, even it was Eastertime? Little kids and Grandmas. . .and they are all sleeping by 10:30 p.m. I'm predicting the ratings are going to be the lowest yet.

I think I've said it before but it bears repeating here: I cannot imagine anything more boring and more idiotic than this episode. Those poor, poor kids. Having to pretend once again to be having the greatest time in the world with this horrible mother of theirs. They must be sick of the acting by now. They aren't trained actors and it shows.

Ho-hum.

In about 10 years or so, I imagine Cara and Mady will publish an excellent tell-all book about their experiences on this show and their issues with their mother. I'm sure it will be an interesting read. Every time I see them in photos or on film, they look soooo less than thrilled to be there. It'd be interesting to know what really goes on behind the scenes.

I also predict as soon as the show is canceled and Kate no longer needs the kids for income, that they will be shipped over to Jon's to live full-time. Good for them!

Oh, I can't wait to read Maddy and Cara's book.

Kate's quest for a nice Easter includes leaving things til the last minute so she can sigh and complain, then cramming way to many "activities" into Easter day so that nobody wants to participate. I especially enjoyed it when Aaden said he wasn't good at doing puzzles and Kate's response was a snotty "Well, I guess you're not good at getting a prize either." Or something to that effect. I can never figure out why she had all these kids if she's constantly annoyed by them. The Easter egg hunt was ridiculous. Each one of those kids had a basket nearly overflowing with eggs.

I'm wondering if those eggs they put in the incubator really came from their hens. I was chuckling at the thought of her putting eggs from the grocery store into an incubator. lol

I guess what I liked about these 2 new shows was that she was not away from home on some lavish vacation again.

More back to the good ole days at home and all about the kids. Even if it is at the McMansion....they do not try to hide the size and the nice things from us anymore.

It seems alot more real, yet the voiceovers Kate does still sound like a robot to me!

Happy to see she stressed she DID NOT have them for Easter this year. Poor thing.

I agree that living with Jon would be good for the children, but I do not think Katie Irene would ever voluntarily give them up. Not because she wants them, but because she is so jealous of Jon and the childrens' affection for him. She'll never give Jon or the children a chance to "show her up" by being happier without her.

I was watching, in and out of a doze. Seems to me me Kate was MAKING one of the twins stay up and help her fill the eggs at the last minute? If you have that many eggs, start early and fill a few eggs every night. Not a mad dash at the last minute.

Mel said...

Did you get the impression that someone else (TLC lackey?) had already hidden most of the eggs?

When she was going around with the stupid orange bucket hiding eggs, at one point where she was hiding an egg in a tree, there already was a purple egg a little further back (she wouldn't have seen it from her angle.)

After they'd announced their separation, I remember K8G defiantly and adamantly stating that she would be spending EVERY HOLIDAY WITH THE CHILDREN.

Yeah, right.

O-Hi-O said...

Seriously. Why so many eggs?

Another dumb concept for this pathetic loser of a show.

---------
Unless that means she would have to suck it up and also spend time with their dad. There are divorced parents who manage to stay civil long enough to allow the kids to spend a holiday with both parents I don't know any and I would say Kate isn't unusual in that regard. But she doesn't have to make it all about how she's suffering.

0.5 rating and 1.297 million viewers for this half hour.

I think it is sad she doesn't let Mady and Cara enjoy the surprise of what is hidden in the eggs. My kids are teenagers now. I always sneak in the eggs and other Easter and hide them when they are sleeping. I tell them the Easter Bunny left everything. = Probably Mady and Cara have fun helping her stuff the eggs but where is the surprise for them.

Saw a brief flash of some red chickens..one or two, and also a brief shot of the dog just sitting there as though commanded to "sit."..wasn't interacting with the running kids at all. They certainly do answer what we question in the various blogs, so someone reads them.

I was horrified at what kate told Aaden about the puzzles.

He said he wasn't very good at puzzles.

kate didn't miss a beat and said, Well, then you won't be very good at getting a prize.

kate, have you lost your mind? You had to expend some energy to say that to Aaden, and it would of taken less energy to say: Aaden, there are so many people here that will help you if you need help, your brothers and sisters and your 2 older sisters, me, ashley, allie, so no worries.

kate couldn't you just Encourage your children, just once, before they turn 21 and/or in the 9th grade?

I tweeted my thoughts about it to her last night.

I may be blocked now. haha

I thought WG confirmed that the chicken coop was no longer there.

@ Shoka's Understudy:

What - Kate say something positive or encouraging to her children, especially one of the "yucky" boys? Only if TLC is dangling something she really wants right in front of her nose, AND she's wearing an ear bud so a TLC intern can tell her exactly what to say.

Kate is simply too busy, too frazzled, too put upon by raising eight children ALL BY HERSELF, with no help whatsoever, working her manicured fingers to the bone (by allowing her children to be filmed constantly), to be encouraging or positive towards her money makers. Sheesh!

I drive by the house frequently going to Wernersville....The chicken coup was gone from where it was placed, unless she moves it somewhere no one from the street can see it.

I heard that part and my jaw dropped. I couldn't believe that she would really say that. That kid is going to be so low on self-esteem. Kids need encouragement, but they certainly aren't going to get it from her. What a sorry excuse for a parent.

Kate can not even get time right.. While filling the eggs she said they they worked into the wee hours of the morning and very late at night. Kate it is very late at night and into the wee hours in the morning. Night comes before morning dear.

Shoka's Understudy said...

I felt so bad for Aaden about the puzzles.

TLC must of really dug in deep to give kate something on her bucket list for her to film the party with kids and parents coming over.

When they were doing the treasure hunt, kate was giving them the clues, they were on the driveway and you could see in the background, parents were lined up and gathered in front of the garage.

Would of been hilarious if kate would of put that 4th of July tan/skin colored bikini and run around the house like Sasquatch.

TLC is making money off these shows even with low numbers. It is cost effective to them. When it is no longer cost effective, they will stop filming.

Hopefully, sooner than later!

Why didn't K8G mind being outside in the cold (jackets required) to dye Easter eggs (god forbid she allow the kids to have this fun inside the house, which, obviously, has plenty of room for kid activities), yet she whined and complained incessantly about her own discomfort while in Alaska during that joke-of-an outdoor-fun-episode with Sarah Palin??

Ineresting, too, that made mention of the early episode showing pumpking carving - clearly TLC is trying to rewrite history as they, once again, attempt another re-invention, this time as K8G, the fun mommy who loves to do activities with her children.

Much too little, much too late. Viewers have already seen too much of K8G to buy this newest "I love my fans and book tours!" and "It's so much fun sharing messy activities with my beloved children!"

Give it up, K8G and TLC. We are wise to you and your reinventions of this woman who is as unlikeable as she is untalented.
