Here's my patriotic thought for the day. When I was in China last month, wasn't able to access ANY blogs, including this one.

My guess is that it is impossible for censors to keep up with the changing content of blogs, so they just block them all out. I know that clever folks in the PRC have ways to get around or under those political firewalls, but still it takes an effort and some serious personal risk.

While I am dismayed about many things in the US, past and present, I am newly aware of how precious the rights to free speech and free (cyber) assembly are.

Happy Fourth to you and yourn.

Keep healing thoughts for the crowd of people, including children, who were hurt in Iowa by stampeding horses at a 4th of July parade. Sounds like a freak accident on a celebratory occasion which no one could have anticipated and just so very sad on a day which should be all Americana, bright and beautiful. Apparently the community came together quickly to rush to the aid of the injured and therein lies the beauty, amid the horror, and I just hope this would be true of anywhere and not just America on its special holiday or any day.

Happy 4th of July to all the mods and posters here on GWOP! My son and I did not go to visit my folks, because it worries my mom too much to have family driving on any holiday week-end. For her peace of mind, we instead stayed close to home. It ended up being a fun day, as we instead spent the afternoon at a friend's house, swimming in her pool and playing with her wonderful dogs. By 4:00, the dogs and my son were all tired out.

I made a cake and homemade frosting earlier in the day. I also made a simple dinner of grilled chicken, pasta and carrots. We can watch the fireworks at our local fairground from our house, so that's what we'll do at sunset.

I'm sure Kate Krieder would turn her nose up at such simple activities, but foolish girl - these are the sorts of days that memories are made of.

My kids got to celebrate the real 4th, on the 4th, and not the pretend one back in June. Poor Gosselins : (

Happy Fourth of July, all!
I'm getting it in just under the wire!
I hope you all had a sunny, fun-filled day.
NOW it feels like summer!

The kids were with Jon apparently this weekend. He took them to a local minor league baseball game, fed them funnel cakes and they watched fireworks after the game.

So much for Kate's "I'll never be away from my kids during a holiday".

I so hope that sillimom's report is true. Kart says a lot of things, but God willing, whomever ironed out the custody agreement made it all about the kids and not the parents. If there is a custody agreement those things are usually written in stone, you need to go to family court to change it.

I loved how they had Khate go out to a party store and talk to her hired pap and pretend she was having a party. Because there would just be so many people dying to come to her party....? What a lonely holiday it looked like she had.

Now we know why TLC filmed the 4 of July in June. The Kids were with Jon having a ball and The show is called Kate plus eight not Jon plus eight. I love to see a episode of Jon and 8. But we know Jon would not allow camera's. Kate would have a fit the kids smiled all day and did not hide faces from camera's

Good to hear the Gosselin 8 had an enjoyable one.

With all the recent pictures of Kate "Running" I am kind of thinking that since everything she does is to benefit her in some way($$) . Could she possibly be trying to come out with an exercise video? She has been carrying on with the running crap forever, but as hot as the weather has been, it would make more sense for kate to "Run" on the treadmill in the basement. Where the aircondition is. Yes, I know how much Kate loves to have her picture taken. But I just don't think she would cause herself to break a sweat for nothing. There has got to be another idea for more money somewhere in these rediculous pictures. I'm betting on the Video and OR.....

P.S. Did anyone else hear that Joy is leaving the View for a full time slot on HLN? Gosh, I like the view and hope that they don't ask Kate to come on there. It seems they don't know what to do with her. Maybe that's why there is a limited # of episodes of K+8. Maybe there is something in the works.
Hope everyone had a happy 4th!

These pictures of Kate make me wonder if all the criticism about her weight is making her get some kind of negative body image. Often, women will respond to that by overly exercising, limited eating and trying to lose weight quickly. Her arms are starting to look less muscular and more sinewy to me, and her face is looking gaunt. I hope she's not going anexoric, and that she's not teaching her children that the thinner you are the better.

Criticisms can get to anyone, even
Kate Gosselin.

I had a college friend with anorexia. She ate salads, limited meat, no dairy, drank water by the jug, and exercised hours a day.
She ended up looking like a ghost, and it all tracked back to depression over someone telling her she looked like she had gained weight.

Jon had the kids Friday night (pictures at the ball game). But on the actual holiday, it sounds like Kate had the kids.

I am glad they got to spend the holiday without filming regardless of the parent they were with. However, it is a shame that more family wasn't there.

To Loving The Good 'Ol USA said...: I live about 20 miles from Bellevue IA where the parade accident took place. I would like to thank you for your kind words regarding what happened. I heard that someone (I believe a child) threw a firecracker at the horses and that spooked them. One hit the others head and loosened the bridle, releasing the horses. They took off and the accidents occurred. This truly was an accident and the town and surrounding areas have really pulled together to help those injured. We live in small town USA but we all have big hearts here. Hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!

Something tells me that if the Gosselin kids had any fun on the 4th of July, it was all for the purpose of a photo shoot or a very special "Kate Plus 8" episode...highlighting Kate as the martyr-material single mom, of course. As we all know, the only reason Kate is willing to go all out for her children is if someone from TLC will videotape her doing it. And as a previous poster noted, it was probably filmed at least a month ago, with fireworks and matching patriotic clothes all around for the kiddies. Very sad indeed...
