Monday, November 16- Gymnastics & Baseball

For the Gosselin kids, it's time for some sporty fun! Kate enrolls all the kids in gymnastics classes and the tumbling begins. When it's Jon's turn, he takes the kids to a local minor league baseball game.

I hope she's planning on bringing the nanny along to that gym, because Heaven forbid, if any of the kids get hurt, you won't see Kate dealing with it. She'll be too busy off in the corner with TLC's cameras, spewing off some great lip service on how there's NOOOOOOOTHING she wouldn't do for her kids...just so long as it doesn't include having to watch them herself.

Fufuss said...

Won't be watching...but I just had a thought, what 5yr old boys want to do gymnastics? And besides, Khate always wants her kids to be as normal as possible, why doesn't she just let them have a few friends over to play on the 22 acres?--Of course not! The paparazzi isn't in the backyard...but probably at the gym place.--As for going to the minor leagueball game, same reasoning applies('cause there's not a lot of interest in that for 5yr olds nor 9yr old girls).

TLC...come on! I know you are desperate for footage....but really!

I've known lots of kids, both boys and girls that have taken gymnastics as a kid.

Besides, at that age it's more about just running and jumping around than anything else.

Gymnastics for kids is big in this area, and boys really like it -- particularly the foam pits, trampolines, swinging ropes, etc. It's a great energy-releaser!

I know you Gwopers only by name on these postings. I found you all less than a month ago. The last four years l thought it was only me that saw the abuse of Jon and the children ( l don't own a computer) I phoned TLC and all the other shows to numerous to mention to voice my opinion on that abuse. I came to stay with my son until my senior's apartment was ready to move into. Well, now it is ready and l will be moving in on Tuesday 18th Nov. I will miss you all terribly.
As l stated above,l don't know any of you, but l do feel your energy, compassion and the care you have all taken (and the very hard work) to help these beautiful children and get this monstrous show off the air. I will not forget any one of you.
I won't be able to afford a computer once l leave my son's place, but ALL of you will have a place in my heart forever and a day. You have restored my faith in people helping people just because you saw the need. From a very grateful mother l say THANK YOU ALL.

God bless you all.

Hey, Teresa! Will you have access to the public library after your move? You could come and "visit" with us from there. Or are you lucky enough to live in an apt. complex that has a computer?
I hope we'll hear from you again.
Good luck with the move and your new home!

Reading that this was an episode made me laugh. I used to check ROL quite frequently at the height of this mess. I remember seeing the pics of this fiasco and I knew it was for a show because there is no way in hell that K8 would do something like this on her own. The folks over there used it as yet another platform to praise and worship the queen of darkness and slay the evil jester Jon. I wonder if those morons will ever get it/her. Perhaps it as some have suggested that it is TLC interns or BM posting over there. It's hard to imagine that there are that many complete idiots roaming the earth.

There are lots of groups that offer low cost or free computers to people. Check around once you get moved into your new home. Lots of choices on internet services too, with some options at pretty cheap prices.

Ugh! Why did I just waste 4 1/2 minutes of my life watching that video. This one is also pretty terrible.

It showed the whole family at their very worst.

Kids against kids ...

Kate against the disgusting, vile refrigerator...

Mady kicking her little sister...

Sister being mean, not letting Aaden help push the box...

Jon losing his mind because the kids were throwing their socks down the stairs...

I can never tell Leah and Alexis apart, but somehow most of the whole family turned plain ugly in this one...

I have always thought that the kids should be involved in some sort of after-school activity or on a youth sports team (esp Mady and Cara). Cara is so athletic and would probably enjoy it. There is probably an activity that even Mady would enjoy. I'm sure Kate is too busy to devote her afternoons to driving kids to practices and games. I think the kids are going to miss out because of how self-centered Kate is.

My daughters have been on an all-star cheerleading team for 6 years now. My life is busy, but my daughters enjoy it. I think that is the most important thing. I sacrifice so they have the chance to be on a team and be involved. I think it is sad when parents are not involved in their kids lives. I'm sure that Kate thinks special trips are enough. It is the day-to-day stuff that counts.

emptynest said...

Taking your kids to gymnastics is fine (I did for a year till she lost interest) but it can get expensive and you have to make a commitment besides dressing your kids up for a reality show shoot. How awful for these kids to get to have fun ONCE and they don't get to return to that sport/activity because Mommy is too busy with the reality show or it is the FAMILY BUSINESS.
The sextuplet family in Kansas that is the same age as the Gosselins have their kids in T-Ball, running ballgames and activities is hard work but know this, you are going to miss it when they are gone.
Kate (and Jon) is selfish because she is too busy thinking what builds HER self-esteem (and bank account), not what builds the KIDS' self-esteem.

It doesn't have much functionality other than surfing the net... but you can get one for $200-$300. I know I had to use a CC for it, but it was a godsend for me, since I couldn't afford the $1,000 price tag!

two observations:
1. at one point Kate did a voice over during the gymnastics segment. It was awful. She was clearly reading a script and doing a poor job of it. Not natural at all. And she wants to do a voice in an animated film? fat chance of that!
2. when she took the kids to the car after gymnastics she had to stand there and fish for her keys and complain about the p-people. Even I get my keys out of my purse before I leave the building! What an idiot!

That is one of the VERY FIRST points I wanted to make! It was when she was talking about how she was remembering Cara and Mady being in gymnastics at 3 years old, and how the little kids get to be in it now. Never before was it so painfully obvious that someone was reading a line off a piece of paper. I was shocked, even considering Kate.

And don't you just love how she made a point to pat herself profusely on the back for passing the bread and butter around to all 8 kids in the restaurant BY HERSELF because (gasp!) Jon wasn't there to help her out? Lady, if you consider it that big of an accomplishment to hand bread plates to your kids without being overly "daunted" by it, then I'd love to see how you handle a REAL problem. I don't have 8 kids, but I did teach a summer camp this year and had up to 25 kids to give snack to at the same time. Sometimes there was only one other person there to help, so if two people can do it for 25 kids, then surely you can do it for 8 without whining and applauding yourself for handling such a big, scary task. Grow up, Kate. The real problems are still ahead, and it doesn't seem like you have a clue.

And before that, she talked about how she insisted on staying at the gymnastics class with the kids because "things have to be different for us sometimes". Never before have I listened to a woman who is so starved for control and will knock down anyone who gets in the way of having that complete hold on not just her kids, but on the whole surrounding environment.

All I can say is this: I hope Kate is aware that the show IS ending and that the day WILL come when nobody pays a speck of attention to her pathetic and condescending "demands". Soon, Kate. Very soon. It won't be long before you stop earning a million dollar paycheck just to ship your kiddies off to gymnastics class - something that MILLIONS of mothers across the country did today without a camera bothering to follow them around and pay them for it. When that time comes, I hope you're ready for it and will consider the possibility of raising your family with whatever dignity you might have left.

Whoever will be doing a recap of this episode, as well as the other new episode tonight, will have a field day because Kate spends the entire time making herself an easy target for those of us who can see right through her.

Also not a surprise is that Kate comes up with new words starting with "Grouchish". There were some more, again I'm sure they will be covered in the recaps.

Of course with Jon not there to defend himself, Kate makes many remarks that were definitely anti-Jon. Yep, I can't wait to read the recaps here, as well as Z's comments on the Baltimore Sun!

BUT I HAVE A QUESTION FOR ANY LOCAL -
As I watched the gymnastic segment, and I'm under the impression that all the kids did enjoy themselves, I found myself wondering whether or not the kids are still enrolled in classes or was this just for the show? Any local on this blog know whether or not the kids are still taking classes?

And why are they communicating to each other by being on t.v.?

I am surprised though, that we weren't gifted the image of a sea of parents and children with thier faces all blurred out.

I hope a certain special tlc intern out there can answer some of my inquiries.

I love how even at a restaurant she has to have complete control. She orders for the tups and they have the same plate of portion controlled food. I let my kids read the menu (or read it to them when before they could read) and THEY decide what they would like to order. Then THEY tell the waitress what they would like-helps with basic life skills even at the young age of 5.

Then contrast Jon-I was proud that he ordered everything and just let them eat it. But you could tell that Collin was pre-programmed with his "if you eat all day you're going to get a bellyache"-wonder if he hears that all day long?

ermmmmmm WHY!!! would that be?!?!??

Oh, that was soooo irritating when Kate had to stay for the class. As someone who teaches acting to little kids, I can tell you, that is THE most distracting thing. Not just for that one person's child, but for every other child in the room.

Oh, so glad it wasn't just me that found that annoying when she had to order for them. I was ordering my own food at three. I watched the gymnastics episode but not broken dreams/promises. Even the title of that was morbid. The kids really enjoyed gymnastics and I hope they still get to go, although there haven't been any paps pics of them going, so doubt they are. I noticed that Mady seemed to have good form for gymnasics.

I really think TLC and Kate should look around and notice that not many moms are walking around with half their boobs hanging out while they are on mommie duty. That must be very embarrassing for particularly tweens Mady and Cara. It really wasn't necessary for her to be so hateful to the gym teacher and hover so closely. She certainly doesn't hover over them at home and then to say, I just let her know (like a schoolyard bully), she didn't say much back to me ....it is called being nice Kate.

I was a bit concerned about Aaden. He had an owie on his head and was very, very subdued.
He just didn't look like he was faring very well. He was very good on the balance beam.

I loved the baseball show. The kids are so relaxed with Jon. Why did they not show these epis before. They were both good although they could have spared us the pushed up bare breasts that I was afraid were going to escape at any moment (and Kate bullying the thin little coach).

Kate...Playboy will eventually make that call you keep hoping for, but remember, they are not going to buy the cow when they can get the milk for free.

Laura said...

I was glad to see that Jon showed the kids at the baseball game that it's OK to talk to people, they've seen them grow up and that they don't have to be scared 24/7. Granted, I understand a level of security, but Khate has drilled it in these kids that people in general are a nuisance. Most activities with her involve an establishment being shut down or people so far away that the kids can't possibly interact with anyone but their own siblings. I can't imagine the fear/confusion they have right now and will continue to as adults.

Vanessa said...

I really believe they have some crazy fans out there, maybe even stalkers. Was it all worth it Khate?

I think we know the answer to the question "Are they still taking classes?" Have we seen ANY pics of them going or dressed in their gymnastics gear? NO! ONLY the recent picture that just miraculously showed up on Radar a couple of days before the airing of the show.

Yeah, they won't be able to do anything because mean daddy stopped the show. Not only does she feel they are entitled to do these things, but ALSO get PAID to do these things! How's come the paps have never filmed the Gosselins going back to gymnastics? If you let your kids join a sport and clearly they all enjoyed it...you keep letting them return for more fun, right? Shame on Kate Gosselin, TLC and their co-hort, ROL for trashing those kids' dad. HE may not be a perfect Dad, but he is THEIR DAD.

Minka's tail said...

This episode proves it:
Kate--awesome mom
Jon--terrrible dad.

Kate--divided up all that food, ALL BY HERSELF! WITH NO HUSBAND! True, she could have avoided the whole thing by just, I don't know, letting the waitress serve the kids normally--one plate per customer, with the food portioned out already. Only about 99% of all restaurants serve you like that. But Kate cares! She won't let her kids get a plate with a main and side dish on it! She has to hand them out herself. I won't even get into the SACRIFICE she must make by hiring security to walk her to gymnastics. WHAT A HEROINE!

Jon, on the other hand, let a child SKIN HIS KNEE and wiped it with ALCOHOL!
What kind of a monster parent does that! Skinned knee and alcohol, all in the same day!. Tsk, tsk.

Seriously, though, I am glad this disaster is almost over. Jon did the right thing to block this show. It reminds me of a biased political documentary, with Kate as the good party and Jon as the bad. Ridiculous.

Minka's tail said...

I make Asian eyes when I don't have my glasses on. I did it all through 5th grade, because I didn't want anyone to know I needed glasses. It flattens the cornea or something, and changes how light bends. It's nothing racial.

Well Kate's FANS are the most dangerous people out there. She even said she needs security to keep her fans from mauling her.

Those people who adore her, raise her children the way she does, talk to their hubs the way she does, are truly scary, and Kate knows that.

There are a lot of Kate Worshippers out there and she does need protection from them, whether we believe it or not.

I have never posted anything reguarding the childrens behavior--just the poor parenting skills of their parents---but I have to say, (and I am a mother of 5 kids, payed for by my husband and my hard work) The kids behavior is awful, they can't sit still for anything!!! Just so you know Kate, you have to do more to parent then feed them and take them to places to be cultured. It is so obvious they receive little daily care, teaching and nurturing.

From reading your comments, there was nothing worth showing here.

So I think the question has been answered: why are they showing these episodes? Because they had to fill time, and time fillers are usually things of no consequence.

My own time fillers involve such non-monumental things as straightening my spice cabinet. Doesn't have to be done, but it takes up a few minutes when I don't have anything else to do instead.

TLC's time fillers clearly involve putting useless film on cable TV.
They didn't have to show us all that, but they had nothing else going on.

I don't care if Cake Boss is good or bad. All I care about is it has nothing to do with Kate Gosselin, and therefore might catch my attention.

Haven't seen any ratings yet, but last night should be higher then the last few weeks. I checked the active guide on our Direct TV during the time slot of the first 30 minutes, and for the first time in months J&K+8 was in the top 5 shows for the central rating. This should mean 4 or more million viewers. Ugh.

On a positive note, ShowBiz Tonight did not have even one Gosselin update story last night. Go away Gosselins, you bother me!

Since Jon is the one who has made faces making fun of his heritage I would be more likely to blame him. It really doesn't matter cause I'm sure Hannah had no idea what she was doing would be taken out of context and considered offensive when she was innocently rubbing her eyes anyway.

On not finding her keys.

I only have 2 kids, and 0 paps. When I go to the store I put my keys in my pocket. That way when I have a basket full of groceries, a whiny baby, and a disgruntled 'can we hurry and get home so I can play' 9 year old I can load the car quickly and efficiently. If I can make that mental note you would think if you had paps following you and it really bothered you you would have your keys at the ready before you walked out the door. Just a little FYI there Kate. But, the paps will only be around another week or so so it shouldn't be a problem.

ManicNarcissism said...

I'm not a local but we see pictures of them every day and I have never seen them in those outfits again.

Also, Kate alluded to the fact at the end of the segment that it was hard to do those things with the paps and how easy it was when it was just cara and mady to take.

I noticed that, also. Part of me had to smile because it was almost like a deliberate jab at Kate, the way he just let the kids pick what they wanted and eat as much as they liked. The kids did seem to have fun at that game, which was good and important to show that Kate isn't the only one capable of providing the kids with a fun time. And let's not forget that Jon doesn't have TLC to organize his outings and put a plan together. Jon certainly isn't perfect, but at least he speaks for himself and doesn't have to follow a script. He wanted to take his kids to a baseball game, and maybe part of it was because it was something HE was interested in, but hey, they seemed to have a good time, and Jon didn't need to be fake about it. Kate's scenes and moments with the kids just drip with fakeness.

I loved how Kate said it was the first time she had taken all 8 kids to a restaurant by herself.

Then even she had to realize how stupid that sounded because there was obviously another adult sitting at the table. So she changed it to "well, not by myself, without Jon". (That may not be an exact quote)

-----------------------------

I haven't watched in two years and from what I remember the kids were always unruly...lots of hitting and screaming and no one there to supervise. It constantly irked me that these kids weren't being taught manners or how to get along without physical violence. These poor kids are not only lacking hugs and kisses from mom, but proper guidance and discipline.

Let's make it a little more obvious that TLC-out of all the footage that was shot at the baseball game-hones in on Jon wiping his son's cut knee with an alcohol wipe resulting in the poor little guy screaming bloody murder. Yes Jon is an idiot, he even "read" the package before opening it and any moron should have seen it was an alcohol wipe and then it goes from bad goes to worse when he laughs about it and Kate is no better but TLC is beginning to look more and more the instigator of a lot of this, both on and off camera. I love how even at a restaurant she has to have complete control.(snipped) Then contrast Jon-I was proud that he ordered everything and just let them eat it.
------------------

I thought this contrast was interesting too. With Kate, they eat the same, they dress the same, everything is the same, no wonder she wasn't happy about Aaeden getting glasses, it made him a little different than the others, she really doesn't deal well with them being different in any way other than what she has decided.

Someone get these kids away from this freak! They need their own identity's! They can't wander around thinking of themselves in the terms kate has decided for them, that's cruel. It'll severely limit them & mesh them up badly.

Jon's no prize pig himself thanks to some of his behaviour, but at least with him the kids lives are not predetermined & he doesn't freak out when they behave in a way contrary to what's been decided because he hasn't decided anything for them as it should be.

Certainly you have hopes for your children, but kate, well, that's just nuts. Jon let them eat what they wanted when they wanted, not caring if it was organic or not. Good old junk food like every other child has a baseball game. It's not hard to see who they're going to remember fondly & who's going to force them to have a therapist on speed dial.

If they get a belly ache, they get a belly ache. It's never pleasant, but very normal when you're a kid & allowed to pig out. I wouldn't be surprised if they had more belly aches once they decide to rebel against Kate's portion control, you know it's coming, along with them rebelling about who she's decided they should be.

It'd do those children well to do more things children do so that they're not 20 & getting belly aches figuring out how much they should be eating, or experiencing other eating disorders as I imagine them not gaining too much weight is very much on kate's mind.

They need to get grass stains, they need to play in puddles. They need to run in & show mom the frogs & bugs & whatever else they're interested in. They need to get down right good and grubby.

I don't want to provoke another argument on whether or not she feeds them enough, but I seriously doubt healthy weight is as foremost on kate's mind as much as vanity for the cameras that extends to all her children.

It'd be nice if she'd come to realize the more control she tries to have, the less she'll end up with, until she ends up with no control at all. Control freaks have a habit of usually loosing everyone they've tried to control. These people would do well to embrace that the only constant is change & learn to be less frightened of it. If you're looking at change with the right mind set, it's pretty far from frightening & these children do not need to grow up & develop the same difficulties their mother all to happily embraces & forces everyone to put up with.

I really pity those boys when they start dating, because it's going to be hell with this woman around. I hope they're with their father. I hope he grows up, I hope he's told by the judge to stay home & take care of them & that kate's told to go be the bread winner, because that is the only way they're going to have a shot at a normal life. If kate is with them, day in & day out then all that's going to be is hell for them until they move out.

Like it or not, Jon is the only nurturer they have. No one, not even her own children should be forced to live with kate day in & say out. If I was a child in that house, I damn sure wouldn't let on I was ill & have to stay home with her, I'd crawl to that bus.

Sorry the post is so long.

"Kate--divided up all that food, ALL BY HERSELF! WHAT A HEROINE!"

Yes, that was "SO Kate". Dumbest thing I ever saw. My parents let the waitress serve us when we were that age. They're not two year olds.

jibberjabbers, I cannot stand Kate and think she is a terrible human being and mother. But I have never felt that she is a racist or at least has no problems with Asian people. I think the fact that her kids are "asiany" is a plus for her. She does appear to be ignorant and insensitive, however, saying things like china doll and ah-so but I still think she isn't racist nor is she raising her kids that way.

jibberjabbers said...

I didn't say it was racist or offensive. I just find it interesting that Kate is obsessed with the China Dolls and Asian looking babies.

And "maybe", Kate is training her kids eyes to look more Asian by pushing it back every night b4 they sleep. I don't know.

But she wasn't rubbing her eyes. The vid clearly depict Hanna pulling them back several times.

I agree with an earlier poster that Cara and Mady were lovely in this episode. They are too cute when they're happy, wish we could see more of that. I loved when Cara spontaneously told Mady "You look really pretty," and Mady accepted the compliment graciously. TLC really misread its audience when it focused on those bickering loser parents and the kids' worst moments instead of the special sweetness that all kids, including these eight, possess

there is a parable in the Bible about the rich man and a man named Lazarus. Lazarus was a starving man who had leperous sores and the dogs would lick them. the rich man would sit at the table eating very fine food and wine and he wouldn't even give him the crumbs off the the table to him. then Lazarus dies and later on the rich man dies. when the rich man realizes where he is at, and sees Lazarus at Abraham's bosom, he cries out to God and asks Him to send his brothers to dip their finger in cool water just to ease his scorching tounge, and he was told no. then the rich man begged them to go and tell his brothers to do right and not come here.

kate is the rich woman who eats fine organic food and fine wine and won't give the kids the crumbs and drinks of water.

kate dies. then she sees her children with jon. she begs them to go dip their finger in the swimming pool to cool off her scorching tongue. sorry, kate, can't do it. you have sinned unmercifully and were judged and now you have to pay the penalty.

What a PSHYCO! Thank god its almost over! "left over nite" yes Kate, you are officially a "left over"- She wants the Jon back that rolled on the floor and wrestled w/his kids?! Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't she bitch at him whenever he did do that- God help him if he wasn't catering to her or he wasn't cleaning up or helping her organize..Remembr when he was playing with the girls in the driveway (jump rope) and she started screaming at him....I believe Mady said "all she did was order Daddy around"! Yea Khate, you wanted to do a "reality show"- hope some of it gets used in court!
I loved the AAA part when he finally got a slam in. It's like you want to almost chear for him! (I said almost)I can see why he cheated on her, they tend to do that when they don't get attention at home. (I'm not saying what he did was right- it wasn't- but she needs to accept her role in the demise of her marriage.
Khate wanted to go to Korea, it was one "their goals"- not just as a free trip, "but to PROVE they could do it- make memories!" HURL!

I feel bad for those boys- she's not only de-nutted Jon, but she's managed to emasculate the boys as well. It's pretty obvious by the way they whine & cry- Was it Alexis that started with the "uuuhhhh" when she didn't get her way at the table? Khate, teach your children some table manners & how to act in public- u would think that as much as they are dragged in front of people that they would act better. Hannah, wow what a little KHATE she's turned into! I can only imagine how they are teased in school. WHO WEARS THAT???? Queen Khate ur not 25 and u are starting to look a little haggard! The makeup person & stylist must have had the day off! Good luck finding a new man to emasculate-

Food portion control? Wth? Maybe that's why they whine and cry so much- maybe they're hungry! Those are energetic little BOYS! No way would my boys be satisfied with a 1/4 of a chicken sandwich & a spoonful of mac & cheese! Don't forget the veggies- u know she did that because of the cameras- do u think they had to clear out the place so Queen Khate wouldn't have to deal with her 'fans'?
Did they pay that woman at her book signing to say that about her?

And I noticed the second time around Jon said the kids wanted everything on the menu at the ballpark so he said let's order it all and let everybody eat what they want. What a difference in him and Kate! Of course, you don't let kids eat like that every day, but for outings and other special occasions, all rules should be off. Kate ruins all their fun. Gag, and I thought my mother had weird food ideas.

May the good Lord help these children when they get to college and discover there are actual options out there and their meal plans permit visits to pizza shops, footlong submarine shops, Mexican and Chinese restaurants and fast food hamburger joints both on and off campus. Those people who adore her, raise her children the way she does, talk to their hubs the way she does, are truly scary, and Kate knows that.

There are a lot of Kate Worshippers out there and she does need protection from them, whether we believe it or not.

TLC tried to make Jon look bad on the Never Before Seen episode, and failed. And sorry, TLC, but he totally blew Kate out of the water in this episode. The whole family was adorable at the ballpark. Do you notice how the kids touch Jon so much more than they do Kate? They lean against him, drape an arm on his shoulder, hold his hand and he reciprocates in kind. Without the over the top displays of fake affection Kate stupidly thinks shows the world and her kids that she loves them. Jon doesnt have to prove that he loves the kids because he just does. Kate doesn't even want the kids to stand near her in a store, embarrasses them with by behaving in such a fashion that their gymnastics teacher dislikes her, and says horrible things about the dad they love.

Eat your vegtables said...

I think Kate needed to be present at the gym with the kids because of the cameras filming them. Child labor laws require a parent to be present for filming. That's why she said "things need to be different for them". Although the hair-don't hag claimed the kids are not working, I bet once the state started snooping around, TLC had to tighten the reins and play by the rules. This could be why there is no newer footage of them with just the nanny,or anyone else for that matter. We all know those kids are left without Jon or Kate at home, but I'm guessing they cannot film without one of them present.

You know what else irks me about Kate divvying up the kids' food all the time? She gets her grubby hands all over their food! I know this is a small thing, but personally, I'd rather be the only one to touch my food if possible. I won't reject food that's been touched or tasted by someone else, but you know what I mean. Kate's manhandling of the bread to spread gobs of butter on them? Yuck, and she's supposedly a germaphobe. Would it kill her to let the kids butter their own bread? I assume her hands are clean, but again, as much as possible I prefer that no one touches my food but me, even if it's my mom, dad, hubby, kids.

Normally the servers do that stuff, Hate! Quit being a martyr! My 4 year old would not eat 1/4 of a sandwich and she's not a huge eater. That is just starving the kids! Again, I say she is being cheap, not to mention conrolling. What else is new? At least the shrew admitted she had helpers there. I disagree with this. He even stated he KNEW it was an alcohol wipe and that's why he wiped fast. But that is all he had and he wanted to get the dirt out. Huge scrape or not, it is not good to leave it dirty with rocks, etc, in it. He read it, said of all things they give him an alcohol wipe and quickly swabbed the cut. It is not a big deal. If if the kid got a spray of Bactine he would have screamed. Those kids scream at everything. It showed he cared enough to clean it out. If they were trying to show that by contrst he is a bad parent, they failed. She is anally controlling food so she is "good", they want us to believe and he is letting them eat whatever so he is "bad". He lets the kid fall and then wipes him with alcohol so he is "bad", etc. He sanitized the cut with what he had available.

------------------------------------This was just an observation based on both TLC's official statement condoning the filming of the kids... "Because of the show, the kids and the family have economic security and the luxury of a mom who can stay at home and raise them." And the provisions in pa laws that require supervision.
How could TLC use the above justification if mom is not staying at home raising them? Also, Pa requires permits for age 7 and up. I would assume then children under 7 would have supervision of a guardian. If not, there is no protection for little kids? Doesn't make sense. I guess it's all going to depend on whether or not Pa considers the filming of "reality shows" to be work. I don't know how they couldn't seeing that both TLC and Kate call it their job.

Pennsylvania
Minors 7 to under 18 need special permits from Dept. of Labor and Industry, and can’t work where there is alcohol.
To obtain special permits need: application signed by parent and employer, and with the seal of notary. Includes provisions for educational instruction, supervision, health, welfare, and the safeguarding and conservation for the minor of the monies derived from such performances

"What is wrong with using rubbing alcohol to clean a wound? It works and it was there."

Absolutely nothing. ANY antiseptic would sting. And if soap and water isn't immediately available, alcohol is the most effective and handy antiseptic to use. Jon isn't an idiot, as one poster stated. He did what any responsible parent would do. He attended to his son's injury in the best way possible that was available to him. He didn't "allow" his son to hurt himself. Kids fall, they get bumps and bruises and scrapes. It's called being a normal, active kid.

Did I read the comments on here correctly? Khate only allowed 6 active, growing 5 year olds and 2 9 year olds 1/4 of a hamburger each for lunch? Most 5 year olds I know can eat most of a hamburger with no problems, and many can manage a whole one. 9 year olds can eat an entire burger (sometimes more LOL). And if she wanted them to have vegetables with their meal, why not put lettuce and tomato on the burgers, or order a couple of salads and divide them, or get some cole slaw? I love steamed broccoli, but even I wouldn't eat it with a burger, let alone expect a kid to. That just doesn't go.

Vanessa said...

Gosh, now he's being a bad parent for wiping a cut with an alcohol wipe?
My daughter got a very bad infection (could have turned into "flesh eating disease)from a cut and had to have antibiotics fed to her through an IV.
Wish they had cleaned it with alcohol at school where she fell!

Vanessa said...

Tell me, what exactly is the point of going out for dinner if it's not to have "a rare, VERY rare treat"? Why the hell can't they order what they want? You have to beg and negotiate to have some stinkin' fries?? Give up on the control Kate and maybe you wouldn't feel like you have to dooo soooo much! If all you do is make a meal, clean up a meal, make a meal again, then going out for dinner should be a no-brainer...YOU ALL GET SERVED, YOU DON'T HAVE TO CLEAR THE TABLE OR DO DISHES...AND THE BEST PART FOR YOU IS YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!

For the Moment? said...

The broccoli was clearly an afterthought for the cameras. The tups were hungry by the time they left the gym and she pointedly told them they could get a snack in the car. Yeah right. Organic is BS for the wannabe show. Those kids are hungry and that is why they act out. I thought Collin was saying if you get really, really hungry your tummy hurts and then when you eat you get a bellyache (to that effect). Not many kids today know what it is like to be really, really hungry. Does anyone believe that the kids are the ones who wanted to eat an Austin's...not exactly a kid friendly place since they serve alcohol. She is such a liar.

__________

Good idea, but not right. The cooking epi is on now (the one where the twins go to cooking class), and Kate says they are going alone, since it isn't necessary that one of them be there.

Someone on another blog had some good points, perhaps someone can verify them.
1. Someone said only 8 people can be in the Rmcdonald kitchen at once. (kate and her crew violated that one).
2. someone said the kids left with goodie bags from the charity house.
3. someone also said that the girls are dressed in the same outfits as the 'mother's day' luncheon (ya know, the one where they packed that big old van in the handicapped spot?). They seem to think the passport and luncheon were filmed on the same day. If so, good catch!!

I also thought that when Kate was divying up the food for the kids the other night that she underfeeds them. There is no way a 1/4 sandwich is enough. She also says in there, 'five meals'...i thought, "what?"

Can you imagine what would have happened if someone had given KI an alcohol wipe? haha! First, she wouldn't have read what it was...then when the kid started crying, it would have been a total smack-down of the poor guy who gave it to her...

my9cats said...

As far as the alcohol wipes debacle, IMO it’s much ado about nothing.
We used it all the time and guess what. My daughter is 30.
I think the screaming was more from the boy tup’s being conditioned by Kate to be fearful of dirt, boo-boos etc. Remember how upset one of the boys became when Jon the boys were kicking around a soccer ball around. Terror because he had a speck of dirt got on him. Wish I remembered the name. Joel perhaps?

Better yet, who is the missing adult? Look at the bottom right corner of the table... See the extra grown-up drink and plate of food? Steve, maybe? I doubt Kate bought the cameraman something.

"Hmm..is Kate being cheap with the kid meals because she's scared she is now going to have to start paying for things?"

Cheap? Austin's isn't "cheap," and remember -- they were filming. TLC picked up the tab. If they pay (paid) for landscaping, nannies, dry cleaning, etc., then they certainly wrote off the meal at Austin's as a business expense!!

Of course, all that has ended, or will end very soon...unless she gets her own show!

TLC claims "Because of the show, the kids and the family have economic security and the luxury of a mom who can stay at home and raise them."

Yeah, except for the fact that we have Kate on camera more than a few times bragging about leaving the kids at home for so long with Jon while she went on a book tour for the book that Beth wrote.

She even bragged about never calling home.

You have to let these kids grow up normally, and walking and eating ice cream cones right-side-up is part of growing up.

Yeah, I saw that empty spot at the table too...had to have been Steve.

For the Moment? said...

Ironically had the child been taken to the emergency room they would most likely have cleaned the wound with alcohol as well (and saline water) and they would have scrubbed it mercilessly. There is not much way to show mercy w/ a cut that has dirt in it. Grasping at straws is what that was, that was all there was to bitch about and Jon made it clear he wasn't happy w/ the alchol, but had to use it. I think Joel was more upset about the dirt (thanks to Monster Mom). I would be more interested in what happened to Aaden's head.

Kate being in the gym should not have been allowed. My daughter did gymnastics for years, and there is a parent viewing area,(that inculdes all the gyms we compeated at too)for saftey and insurance reasons. As a RN i feel Jon did the right thing if that is what was avilable to clean the scrapped knee. Who puts bibs in 5 year olds???!!! I do feel the kids act very babyish, is that due to Kate trying to keep them cute for the cameras, or are they a little slow? Is that why they are in pre-K when they should be in K? The tups seem behind other kiddos in speech, gross motor skills, etc..

jibberjabbers said...

As mentioned earlier, Kate wanted to be on camera, which is why she insisted she be there to watch the kids every move.

Or maybe she knew the kids would have fun and she wanted her face to be there on camera when the kids are laughing and smiling. "see, the kids do have fun when they're with me"..

And yeah, I missed it but I do see 2 plates and 2 cups in the lower right hand corner of the table. Steve and his wife?

As far as the blurred out girl, it's probably the same girl that helped the kids shucked the corn in the Farm to Table episode.

-----------------------------------
Kate IS a hired stage mom. God forbid she would allow someone else to be paid in order to be filmed! She didn't even spring for 8 separate meals for the kids on TLC's dime. My guess is that she doesn't want them to get used to having their own meals because once TLC stops picking up the check, she's only buying 5 meals:). Someone also mentioned that on the epi with the twins cooking, Mother of the Year mentioned them going alone to the cooking place because parents didn't need to be there. That epi was from the 3rd "season" of their lives. Back then, PA was not yet investigating them. Her now need to be there "because things need to be different for them" wouldn't have been an issue yet. I think we all know she'd rather be somewhere else with the cameras ONLY focusing on her. Thank God this show is OVER. It exhausts me. Thanks so much to everyone here, without you to let me vent, I may have knocked over a 7-11 by now with all my displaced rage! When she said that, my first thought was that her children are the special-ist children in the world, so kate has to make sure no one, and I mean NO ONE should speak or touch them...ya know, peasant children shouldn't touch or speak to the queen's children...

There would be enough cameras and crew around to keep tabs on all the kids.

What irritates me so much about Kate is, she comes up with all of these 'ideas'.....WE ALL KNOW SHE DOESN'T HAVE A THOUGHT IN HER HEAD. She gets the tlc script, and here we go!

I truly believe single mothers work harder than any other individual. They are often mother and father. They work at their employment, then when they pick up their kids, the kids are hungry and cranky, want to be home, and mom is also hungry and tired.

Then a tired and hungry mom has to prepare dinner and then do everything that needed to be done when she was at work trying to make enough money to make some sort of a living for her and her kids.

They are on duty every day all day. People have no idea how hard this is if they haven't done it.

Thankfully, I was not one of them, but two of my sisters are, and their lot is a very difficult one.

Please know we feel for all of you.

If a cut is deep enough, even plain old water hurts. Jon did a fine job taking care of the booboo. It's perfectly normal for a child that age to cry when wounds are tended to, no matter what you do. Here's what I'm wondering...did Kate's intuition kick in when Joel hurt himself? Or does that only apply when the girls get hurt?

What IS with the children & food? At the baseball game Collin asked the players twice about eating their food, PB & Jelly joked a player, he obviously was very hungry. Tho Jon fed them alot of food later. But Kate in the restaurant. Cutting the sandwich into 1/4's. And she was not so "alone" eating with just the kids. If you got on ROL & pause the food table, looks like swordfish or something in the center for Kate I presume & then a place with adult drink, looks like 2 filets, green beans...untouched, Just waiting for filming to end so Steve could join the big happy family. I'm sure crew would be packing up or sitting at another table for a quick bite. Well, they think we are stupid so I'll act it. Kate if you could manage dinner in a public restaurant, serving them all by yourself,so hard without Jon...Why can't you take them to church by yourself where they just sit? Not stupid, we know why. You used the churches & now have no interest in them now. Doesn't it scare you sometimes how well WE know you Kate? Can see right thru your lies. You are an open book. You are so obvious when you are not telling the truth, which is most of the time. Can't wait til you are gone. You were nothing but I big joke. Just wait Kate. Paybacks are a bitch. You got them coming to you.

If it was a TLC rule, then TLC would have made sure the gymnastics teacher and the owner of the place had been spoken to ahead of time about Kate being there. That would be part of the production preparation.

No, I'm thinking more like that was Kate's idea that the TLC team was blindsided with. She simply did not want to be off camera while her children were.

No, apparently not. Just enough to make her tear up, talk softly about how much that hurt, and give herself enough time to go pack for the next trip away from home.

Back to the paucity of food for the kids. I took my two goddaughters to McDonalds for a treat last night, so Mom and Dad could have some alone time. They are 4 and 7. The 4 year old ate an entire cheeseburger Happy Meal. The 7 year old polished off a quarterpounder with cheese and fries, then finished off my fries. We shared 2 orders of apple dippers for desert. These girls aren't chubby or overweight. In fact, the 7 year old is a string bean. Khate is deliberately starving those kids in order to keep them "smallish" so they'll look younger. She also has to control everything. God forbid the KIDS should decide how much they want to eat, if they are hungry or full, or, for that matter, WHAT they want to eat. Good for Jon for allowing them to pig out at the baseball game. A once-in-a-while treat isn't going to hurt them. A tummy ache is a small price to pay for having a good time.

My very first thought when I saw the girls was "mother's day outfits again". I wasn't sure if it was the same day, though I suspected it was, or they actually wore an outfit twice.

As for a parent needing to be present when they film, that is funny because often it has not been the case. The boys were left at the ranch when Hate went out hiking. They have been filmed a lot without parents. Funny they are now following rules.

I agree with Jenny who said that there are always parent viewing areas. My children have been going to gymnastics classes for many years and we have been to quite a few gyms. There are always parents viewing areas. I always stay for the class, but I respectly wait in the parent area. There is no problem with staying as long as parents stay out of the way. It is distracting to your kids and the other kids if parents are in the way.

I also agree with Jenny that they should be in kindergarten instead of PreK. I think it is crazy that her children who turned 5 in May and according to Kate are so well adjusted have to be held back.

Do you all remember the epidode when Mady had her special day? Kate and Jon took her to get her ears pierced and then they took her out to lunch at a hamburger place. I just wonder why they treat the children so differently. Mady wasn't much older then than then tups are now. Mady and Cara often have been able to order what they wanted, but the little ones haven't.

Why won't Kate let the tups eat? I have three children and they all ordered their own meal. They would have been horrified if they had to share their meal. They wanted to be able to order what they want.

Kate is trying to save money by cutting down on food. Sure, TLC was paying for this meal but Kate can't let the tups think it is a regular thing to be able to order what they want, so she does her usual paltry portion routine. Can't have the kids think they can order what they want to every time they eat out. IMO
