Renovations & Vacations, August 3

The thought of doing dishes in the bathtub while the kitchen is being renovated proves too much for Kate, so she decides to trade stress for relaxation by taking the kids to the beach while Jon manages the cabinet installations.

Oh, yes, I know so many of us have done the same thing...remodeling the home get to be a little too much? Just fly off to the beach for a little vacation!
These people are an example of too much money, not enough brains. I WILL NOT be watching the new episodes and whenever I see the reruns I change the channel. Enough of the idiocy already, quit the exploitation of your children and find yourselves some real jobs.

Purchase of a $1.3M acred mansion $$$ followed closely by an unnecessary kitchen renovation $$$ and then the New, Improved "Can Do Kate" simply cannot handle the reno, so she takes the kids on a vaca$$$$

"Can Do Kate" thinks she qualifies for canonization and/or a Congressional Medal of Honor for now having to take over the ex's chores since they are divorcing????

"Relatable"??!! Not so much.

I will NOT be watching any further episodes. This entire 'reality' program is an insult to anyone with a triple digit IQ.

I can barely afford to paint my kitchen, much less remodel the whole thing. And to go to the beach because she cannot stand the mess of it all!!! My family has not been on vacation in 7 years, and that was just a 3 day weekend trip! I am so tired of all the freebies these people get. It makes me furious to know that she is getting all these things and there are people who do not have enough to eat or a home to sleep in. I worked as a volunteer this summer to help feed children. There are thousands of hungry children. Why doesn't Jon and Kate volunteer their time for causes like this? Maybe if they saw for themselves what other people do not have, they won't be so greedy. But, probably not.

Who washes paper plates?

goawayfools said...

Hope the paparazzi happen to catch her in one of her new bikinis on the beach in full hair and makeup. Good thing she's been starving herself, tanning, and working out for months prior to this trip. (Sadly, she's still stuck with that unfortunate ass and belly.) Maybe she should bring the kids along and pretend to hang out with them so they can be photographed together and get a paycheck for filming a new episode. Please....

Why did it need renovating anyway? I don't understand these people's thinking..Was it another freebie job, or was it just because Kate found a crack or dent somewhere?

That is the "dog" kitchen!

What about the one in the apartment over the garage??

Are you saying she has another kitchen? It is the Duggars who has two kitchens. Are you all happy for her being blessed with a new kitchen?

Maybe she went to the beach not cause she had no kitchen but because someone she does not want to be with near was in the kitchen.

Dog Kitchen said...

Isn't that her "dog kitchen?"

Ugh, pulleeeze. Our dog is a part of our family and part of the love that surrounds everyone in this house. He isn't annexed to some other part of the house like some "untouchable." If you need to wash out a dog dish, you wash out a dog dish in the regular kitchen sink! It's just another way we see Kate treat the creatures-- large, small, or fur-covered-- in her little world with nothing but contempt and annoyance.

She's just beyond the beyond.

Here's a novel idea. Kate could have taken the kids camping back in the old/unsold house, which has a sink in the kitchen. It could have been nostalgic for the kids: Alexis could sleep in the basement and Joel on the laundry room floor...

Works_for_a_living said...

Yes, because what most of us can afford in this economy is a non-needed kitchen renovation in a million dollar home. And further more, I'm sure we can all afford to go to the beach for 2 weeks while the work was being done so we wouldn't be bothered by the construction workers, who I am sure are disturbers.

I would love to have new cabinates and countertops and appliances and all the extras she's getting. However, I am doing good to pay off the new oven I had to buy when our old one bit the dust. Not to mention, I have 2 (yes, just 2 I know....how shocking) kids that I have to clothe and feed and care for and therefore have to GO TO WORK, actual WORK Monday through Friday. This is in addition to my husband working a good 60 hours a week.

TLC putting this nonsence on the air is so insulting to the majority of Americans who have HONEST jobs they HAVE to go to in order to provide the necessities of life for their families.

I was in Walmart with my youngest daughter last week and saw some Healthtex clothing in the baby section. I just had to look at the tag and sure enough, Kate Gosselin's face was staring up at me. My 6-year-old asked me why Kate was on the tag (my girls and I used to watch J&K+8 when I *thought* it was a family show)....."Is she everywhere Mommy?". Yep...pretty much....but hopefully not for long.

dishes in the tub?? said...

Dishes in the tub?? She has 7 sinks for goodness sake. We're NOT that stupid, even though TLC THINKS we are.

More money said...

I'm disgusted with Healthtex also. They LIED to us by saying that they weren't doing business with Kate. Right, that's why she's getting paid to use her image on the kids clothing on sale at Walmart. Why do these companies have to lie to the customers..like we're not going to find out.
Yes, Kate gets a percentage of each and every item sold with her picture on it.

Annoyed said...

I don't begrudge anyone a new kitchen (whether needed or not) or a big, beautiul house, as long as they pay for it. The problem here is that Kate (and Jon) are using the money from the show (which they wouldn't have without the kids) to fulfill their every whim. It's not even an occasional perk here or there it's getting out of hand. This is a prime example of what happens when people come into a lot of money they didn't work to earn. They blow it! If Kate wants a new kitchen then she should pay for not the kids.

Fudley said...

So gross. Kate is really fighting aging with every bone in her body. As she gets older, I could totally see her becoming like Joan Rivers, getting face lifts every couple of years, no matter how hideous she looks. Nothing she does will bring Jon back. She's trying to compete with 20 year olds.

And the funny thing is Jon leaving her has nothing to do with her looks. Its her bitchiness that drove him away.

s said...

Kate sits around all day dreaming up new ways to spend money. Even the kitchen was far too nice to be ripped out. By the way the boxes are loaded up daily at UPS, and the trucks coming and going to their home, its obvious that Kate is addicted to spending. She spends money every single day of the week.

I think this big remodel of the kitchen was planned because Khate was going to get her own cooking show at some point. At least that was the rumor. She is never in that kitchen except for filming. The personal chef makes and delivers the meals and they have craft services on filming days, so why does she even need a kitchen - let alone a high-end remodeled one? Actually, I guess we need to think of it as a new "set" being built for future episodes - that's all it is. God knows everything about this show is a big fat LIE!!!

I feel we are all being "duped" here.
We all know that immediately after their Impending Divorce was announced? Kate and her Entourage went to N.Carolina for a 'get away' at the beach.
So does this mean that now they are incorporating THAT trip and telling us it coincides with some ridiculous Kitchen Renovation?
From what I have seen of that kitchen the way it stands now? I think probably 90% of the viewers would be just Thrilled to Bits to have a kitchen that lovely.
She replaced the appliances when they moved in because of a bit of grunge ..... and oh Wait! she found some mouse turds in the pantry cupboard......
EXCELLENT reason to have them ripped out and replace a whole 10 months later. Has she never heard of a good Scrub down with Bleach and Hot Soapy Water.... I'm sure her Team of Non-Nannies could do that for her so she wouldn't ruin her manicure.

Redoing a perfect kitchen said...

It almost sounds laughable. "A new kitchen renovation in a million dollar home." You guys always hit the nail on the head.

Marriage over before NC said...

The reason Kate ran to NC with Steve and the kids was because they already decided that they'd divorce, and Jon wanted no part of the trip, he was already skeptical of Steve as it was, and stayed home. That's when Jon really started to live the single life. The liars TLC,are saying Jon stayed home for the renovation...WRONG. We ALL know the truth.

My parents are now remodeling our kitchen. But guess WHAT!?! They didn't use me or my siblings to do it! They both have JOBS! Yes JOBS! Never once did my parents use us during hard times & there have been many.

Jon and Kate no longer know how to be normal parents who hold down a job.

Now that I'm older (21) I can really appreciate my parents and good childhood they gave me. What will the Gosselin's say about theirs?

Kay said...

When this reality show began, it was fun to see these sweet little babies discovering the world. Now it feels like a sick "Peeping Tom- like" intrusion on innocent lives which are being permanently damaged because of our morbid curiosity.

When this reality show began, the parents seemed a bit odd but still somewhere within the norm of responsible parenthood. Now we see that they are actually boring,immature, narcissistic, self-involved, unloving, greedy, unkind, not genuine, not compassionate, not smart and basically not balanced human beings (no offense, Kate and Jon!). Just what we want to watch to lighten our spirits and lift our souls after a hard day!

It just doesn't feel ethically right to view this kind of television anymore. In our house the TIVO setting for the show has now been erased forever...... ok, I am feeling better/cleaner now!

GWOP and people who care about the Gosselin 8: I so admire your concern and tenacity. I hope we all keep up the pressure-however long it takes- until this madness is stopped for the Gosselin kids and for future "reality star" children who are used and abused so that the many adults around them can all make tons of tainted $$$$$$$.

Amen (end of my sermonette!)

No worries people...Kate is not paying for a new kitchen imo. I think some cabinet company just decided to ride the J&K plus 8 gravy train and "donate" a brand new kitchen for some wide spread advertising...but shhhh, we're not suppose to know that!

Emiku said...

I am so disgusted by all the freebies this family gets. The fact that they continue to exploit and traumatize these small children all for the sake of money & freebies is so outrageous.

First they use the money the kids earned to buy a house that costs over a million dollars. But a million dollar house isn't good enough unless you get freebies to go with it:

-New refrigerator
-New washers & dryers
-Solar panels
-Playhouses for the kids
-Motorcycles
-Free trips all over the country

And these are just the things I can think of off the top of my head that they clearly advertised for in the show. We all know they got other things for free like all the other new furniture in the house, Kate's wardrobe, Jon's Ed Hardy wardrobe, those electronic cars the kids ride around in, and now a brand new kitchen.

Can't pay her said...

I just realized something. Kate is no longer buying things and getting new kitchens and goodies, on my back by my watching the show, because I'm done padding her pockets, and it feels good. I will not be one of the ones contributing to her unearned salary.

fidosmommy said...

Did the kids get to pick the cabinetry and the floor covering for their new kitchen? After all, it's their house. Kate said so.
Repeatedly. "It's always been their house".

(Yes, I know she declared "Mine, all mine!". I remember.)

My husband is in the military and just got a promotion. Yet, with our 4 kids and this economy the last year things have gone downhill. We are always broke by payday and he is looking into getting a second job as club manager of the base club. I feel I should be the one to go out and work but he would have to come home at the end of the day and watch our kids including a baby anyway. Plus it would mean me commuting a good distance and he also travels frequently for work, so it's tough. It is pretty much impossible now to watch these 2 clowns who got rich off their kids run around acting like idiots all day every day. Wake up, TLC! No one wants to see that crap. They are the most undeserving people in the universe. Instead show these fools GIVING things to deserving people for a change! Even their poor kids are so spoiled they shoule not get another thing : (

Ms.Peach said...

So scripted. You would have had to be on Mars to not know that Kate was in NC, filming, when the kitchen renovation was going on and the separation was already in the works.

What a waste of money. The old kitchen was beautiful.

Believe me, if you don't watch, you'll never miss it. To make it go off the air, viewership has got to decline. Let's send a message to TLC.

Joanne said...

I really hope everyone on here does not watch them tonight. That is the only way these two fools will be cancelled, is if the ratings drop. It truly sickening that these two losers are rich from having a litter, and everyone is helping to exploit these kids. Jon and Kate are 2 famewhores who will do anything for money.

bcsurvivor2001 said...

Funny how this SAME kitchen was just fine for Emeril - top chef himself - to come and do their 100th show in - but all of a sudden it now needs renovating. And just in time to coincide with the already planned get-away immediately following their "big announcement"

I guess TLC thinks after 6 weeks all of us dummies can't remember any of the previous facts huh?

SuzanneDeAZ: Are you kidding? Not only does she have another kitchen, she has TWO more kitchens. We've seen the second one on more than one episode. It's in the basement, kind of a mini kitchen. Then, of course, there is a kitchen in the garage apartment. It's all fake. It's all staged. The McMansion is where J&K work. You can bet your sweet a** there is a reason for the new kitchen and that reason includes the emotion GREED.

And in what interview was it Kate was asked if she thought they would buy the kids a car and her reply was "if they get jobs and buy one." They have been working since birth.

poorpitifulKate said...

Obviously Kate's new ' I Can Do' attitude doesnt include 'going with the flow' of life when it comes to the renovation of her kitchen in as much that she requires a two week vacation at a beach resort in NC to 'escape' the stress and to avoid having to 'wash dishes in the bathtub'. Kate finds it within herself to muster up all her inner strength to put together a tent 'all by herself' because the kids want to camp in the backyard but when it comes to her having to deal with a kitchen remodel, she must accomodate herself at a beach resort for two weeks. If I told my mother that I needed a two week vacation to escape a kitchen remodel and having to do dishes in the bathtub, her response would be;' BUCK IT UP GIRLIE, its called LIFE'!!

I think we should be a little more thoughtful and objective about what products we boycott and why.

I agree with all of the comments about them not needing a new kitchen but don't punish Healthtex if they make good, affordable clothes. I don't have kids, so don't know better, but I do know that the fashion industry runs about 6-9 months ahead of what you see in the stores, sometimes longer. Any tags with Kate's face were certainly designed and printed long looong before the divorce announcement. They issued a statement pro-actively saying that they'd no longer be working with Kate, as many of us didn't even know that she was going to be promoting a clothing line. I'd guess that Healthtex is probably not to happy at having their brand integrity compromised by Queen Shrew herself but the deal would have been in the works at the height of the Multiple Ble$$ings hoopla. Reworking an ad campaign /tie-in is not fast, easy, or cheap.
Merillat is a whole other deal though, they should be ashamed. After the tabloids, after the announcement, they still moved forward with subsidizing an unnecessary remodel. Even rats are smart enough to abandon a sinking ship, and Merrilat is holding on tight.

They get to the beach and the boys have on the red lifegaurd shirts they wore in NC when Just Jon, K8, and Jenny went. The girl tups had on the same dresses as when they went to see the wild horses.

Sorry....I am ashamed of myself.

Most of their websites are the same as their names, fyi.

I honestly tried watching the first few minutes and Kate was worse than before...they LIE so bad about when they decided to separate and why she went on vacation.

Why would you arrange a major renovation around when your kids were in school, so you have to pull them out so they miss school?
Summer vacation was just another few weeks away.
AND - all she did was complain in her usual supremely ungrateful fashion.

It just goes to show how DUMB TLC and J&K both think the viewers are.
They just think viewers are so clueless!!!!

We need to let them know we do NOT and will NOT support this continued exploitation of the children.

Thanks!

Merrilat Boycott Letter:
(you can just go to their website and hit the "contact" button and write to them - PLEASE DO!)

I hope your company is pleased with it's sponsorship of the Jon & Kate program where the MOST UNDESERVING people get the MOST freebies from companies such as yours - at the expense of an entire PAYING population that is now boycotting your company and products for life.
WOW! I watched the first 5 minutes of the show and that Kate is just what so many people have said -- the MOST ungrateful, horrifyingly mean person (I won't use the most obvious word) I have ever witnessed on TV.
We're aware they have received tens of thousands of dollars of free living from companies such as yours, and cannot understand why CHILD EXPLOITATION seems to be the route some companies want to go.
Well, we are a family of six (my husband and I and our own four children), with a sizable income (over 100K) that my husband and I work hard for. The gosselin's don't work at all, except making their children work for them - forced child labor.
This is not right - and any company that supports this child exploitation and the ungrateful ways of what can best be described as a truly evil woman and network, will NOT be receiving our business....ever.
Again, that is a PAYING public not people that expect FREE stuff and extremely ungrateful for it and highly critical of it and exploit their innocent children to get it.

that is they we hope you enjoy all the thousands of dollars you wasted on this show, because their are literally thousands upon thousands of families just like ours, who will NEVER again buy a merillat product.
You have to understand, there are a myriad of companies, quality companies, that provide these services and DO NOT exploit children OR support the horrible lies that this family and TLC continue to perpetuate (again - - extremely damaging to children).
We all know it is a huge lie that Kate has a "best friend" who's husband works for you.
This woman has alienated two entire families (hers AND Jons) and an entire church congregation and former community -- we hardly think she conveniently has a "friend" who works for you...at a time she was "hoping" to have her own cooking show with stolen recipes, already readily available on the TLC/Discovery network.

We also know they continue to LIE on national tv and in front of their children about when they separated - saying this whole idea behind the kitchen remodel was BEFORE they decided to separate. We know from ALL their family members this is a horrible lie.
And they just so happened to go on a two-week PAID vacation, too?
They do this every time -- get some big FREE VACATION and act like it just came about.
It is sooooo sickening and disturbing on so many levels.

Poor, put upon Kate could not put up with take-out for two weeks -- so she pulled her kids out from school?
That is a sick, sick LIE!

This is the most vile greedy, unworthy, lazy family I think America has ever witnessed.

Oh, by the way, Kate was NOT a good spokesperson for you -- she seemed to DISS you at every opportunity -- just like she does with every company that sponsors them.

Bye- Bye Merillat -- hope your adventure into Child Exploitation and the ultimate freebie while alienating thousands upon thousands of families who would have PAID to use your services -- PAID GOOD MONEY -- was worth it.
Merillat -- you are off our list of products and services to use.....for LIFE.

(oh yes...we ARE building our dream home, as well)

Just curious, did they donate the old kitchen cabinets, appliances, etc to the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store or a similar organization. Hopefully it wasn't just trashed...

From what I hear, Carla now has a new kitchen.

Ok, sorry guys, but I watched...I think more for the "what is going to happen" type of thing. So get this...Kate is getting new appliances. That's right folks, NEW appliances! Didn't she just get new appliances when they moved in? After the fact that she washed the one that came with the house for 4 hours. Why does she need new appliances? SHE JUST GOT NEW ONES! I can't afford to cement my garage, but she can get new appliances. Unbelievable!

And BTW nothing on the kids lunch plates ever looks cooked.

The companies that keep donating all this stuff to Jon and Kate make me sick. These two don't need any donations. Give the money or products to someone who is really in need. It is sickening to see how quick they are to accept every little handout they can get. I know the companies doing this probably need the advertising in these hard economic times but they really need to find a more appropriate way to go about this. I will not be buying any product associated with these two greedy phonies!
Buying products off the backs of innocent kids is just not my thing!

Saddened by their actions said...

Wow...does anyone really believe that the kitchen renovations is for the kids? Do you really think they care about the cabinets and NEW appliances? I'm sure this kitchen will be top-notch! Why does everything they seem to pull seem "brand new?" This is not real life! Why didn't Jon and Kate try harder at their marriage for the kid's sake? No counseling...marriage is very hard, but with eight reasons to make it work, they shouldn't have disposed it so quickly. If this is all for the kids, then practice what you preach. Their actions definately speak louder than their words. If they do anything for their kids....then why sell them out for your greed?

Sorry to those who are offended that I'm watching but my little girls wanted to. We won't watch the second show because she already wants to switch the channel..LOL
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I agree that viewers will continue to decrease. This family does NOT represent middle class America. TLC is so wrapped up with creating storylines, they forgot what is really the norm in the "real world". Big houses, fancy cars, expensive vacations are not the morm in these economic times. Add to this the obvious sense of entitlement & complaining, this family will no longer be of interest to the few remaining sheeple. (I hope!)

They do have that terrible sense of entitlement. And LOL (not in a good way) that Carla now has a new kitchen. I liked the way K8 says that she's known Ashley since she was 1 year old and asks "does that make me old?". Yes, K8, you are not in your 20's anymore. Remember, you and Just Jon ruined your 20's by having your beautiful children (according to the man-child anyway).

I was irritated beyond belief at how she was saying she had to stand on her head to get to her bottom cabinates. Get this K8....I have to BEND OVER too when I get things out of my LIMITED cabinate space.....you know, actual limited space, not the kind of McMansion limited cabinate space Just Jon referred to you having.

Oh, and do you know where my spongy things go?????? On my sink! GASP at the horror that I don't have a special drawer for them. Don't get me wrong, I would if I could, but I spend the money I earn ON my kids, they don't make money for me.

I am sick and tired of all the freebies that the G's are getting. They can well afford to pay for their stuff. Why do manufacturers continue to shower them with this stuff!! And for all of that, we didn't even get to see the kitchen cabinets that Merrilat gave them. Good! maybe other vendors will learn -- It is an absolute turnoff to the whoe show to continue to see them get stuff for nothing, just for the sake of advertising. 1. deal with Jesus
2. place a millstone around your neck and throw yourself into the deepest part of the sea.

i wonder if carla had to pay for "her new kitchen".

as for washing dishes in the bathtub, that stinks! why not go to a dollar general store and get some big dishpans and your bottled water and you can wash all the dishes you want, kate.

point#1...... they have a functional 'kitchen' counter complete with sink and fridge downstairs in their basement.
So what's the big deal about coping with a kitchen renovation for a couple of weeks. She doesn't cook anyway.... mostly raw veggies and fruits from what we generally see.

I watched bits of it. I wanted to see the kids outdoors camping out and having some 'fun' for a change. Altho I nearly gagged seeing Kate at the beach in her bikini saying how 'shocked' she was that the P People 'found' them there. Give me a break.
They didn't show the completed kitchen- they are saving 'that' unveiling' for NEXT week - big surprise.... but you did see ' Antique White Cabinets and black granite counter tops.....
isn't it ironic that kate just 'happens' to have a 'best friend' whose Husband does kitchen renovations for XXXX cabinet company and they ' wanted to do a kitchen renovation for them' ..
and yes Jon, I'm sure the kids will be saying prayers of thanks every nite for ' their new kitchen'...
wouldn't they probably rather have their Mommy and Daddy together and have a happy family!?

I'm disgusted with Healthtex also. They LIED to us by saying that they weren't doing business with Kate. Right, that's why she's getting paid to use her image on the kids clothing on sale at Walmart. Why do these companies have to lie to the customers..like we're not going to find out.
Yes, Kate gets a percentage of each and every item sold with her picture on it.
`````````````````````````````````
I read somewhere (I can't recall where) that Healthtex accidentally sent out the Kate clothing to Wal-marts in the mid-west, but that the deal with her is off. Hopefully that's true.
then of course when the ' professional remodeling people' explained about the 'convenience' and obvious use for undercounter fridges, SHOCK!! she thought further and then snorted and laughed that hideous cackle laugh she has and said ' oh well maybe he IS from this planet' .. did she turn to him and apologize and say " I'm sorry Jon... She also said
"I'll use the microwave as much as I have to."
Ummm... is anyone else wondering WTF happened to "JON AND KATE GO GREEN?????
Yes, Kate, it's so "green" of you to use enough paper plates to cause the chopping down of a forest. It's so "green" of you to use all that electricity for that microwave.
I'm confused, guys. Have you ever seen those children eat cooked food (that wasn't delivered from Kraft Services?)
Pretty much all I've seen them eat is crackers, cheese, and grapes. So who cares if you don't have your stove?
I hate white cabinets! Shes recreating an upscale replica of the kitchen in the Etown house.
They had bright white cabinets there (instead of antique) and those dark green laminate counters. dark granite will require a lot of cleaning and upkeep from her "not a nannies"
I dont think the white enhances the hardwood floors, I think it clashes. The kitchen they had was very nice already. Wood is always warmer to me. We have dark stained wood (not Merillat quality!)cabinets and I think they look rich.
The white fits Kate, as they are cold and uninviting, just like she is!
Oh my gosh I just realized something. I bet Kate is scheming to get the kitchen done while its paid for by TLC and/or Merillat because she is thinking ahead of resale value of the mansion after the divorce!
Remember how much she bitched and moaned about that dirty fridge the previous owners left in the house? Jon and Kate still bought the home for well over a million in that condition. (it was decent)
A new fancy kitchen will bring in top dollar shes thinking. Well think again trailer trash...you may be stuck taking what you can get in the short sale. This market is not stable...especially in "mansions"
PS just for the record; Cant you add those slide out shelves to the existing cabinets? My neighbor upgraded to those and I wonder if they added them or had to order all new to get that feature. Also the undercounter fridge would be great for having 8 small kids. Proving once again it IS NOT ALL FOR THE KIDS!!!
OK I didnt watch, I went for a run.
It is what normal, everyday people do when they are stressed and can't afford a vacation getaway. I could go on and on about what I am stressed with but I won't because I am like so many other families in this country struggling to get by.
I don't get the whole kitchen remodel when the kitchen and appliances already seemed beautiful enough, but hey, that's just me....a real, normal, everyday kinda girl that doesn't get freebies, exploit her kids, and loves her husband.
Since when do you wash paper plates? I have never seen anything but paper plates so I'm at a loss as to why she would be washing dishes in her tub?!?! You don't use pots and pans to eat yogurt, crackers, and grapes....so again I am at a loss. I'm sure there is another sink in that garage apartment. And really Kate, doesn't your non-nanny or housekeeper clean for you??
FYI KON I painted my kitchen the day before I had my son and came home to plywood counters for 2 weeks until my granite was put in. It cost me 3K to re-model that house that I lost in foreclosure so spare me the drama woman....this is how people in the real world live.
Kate also said Jon knew nothing about kitchen design.
At the table with the designers, she insulted Jon when he asked if she wanted an under counter refrigerator (what planet are you from?.
Then her voiceover said he had worked in a kitchen store. The designers explained why one might be useful then she said OK. What a jumbled mess of editing.
The vacation scenes show she was working. The "help" went also. I read awhile ago that that house cost $10,000/week to rent. Another extravagance during a recession.
The second episode was loaded with Coleman camping items and Coleman commercials. Don't we all remember last year when Kate couldn't stand camping?
The 4-year olds had a camera inside their tent when they went to sleep. The glow sticks that Kate added inside were needed for the camera lighting. Maddy and Cara had no cameras in their tent.
Those poor kids have cameras in their face 24/7.
It is also annoying when the TLC camera guy or director asks them a question. How is that natural?
Monica I can totally relate. I am sorry for your troubles and I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. My husband and I spent well over $30,000 making our smallish home a good tight water proof home for our kids that deserve it, and after all the reno and 9 years ended up losing our house to forclosure also. OK....I'm ashamed to say that I am watching. So far, they have slightly addressed the divorce issue and have shown clips of Just Jon in his white sports car being chased by the p-people. K8 says something about how you don't have to wash paper, but she says that she can't stand having take-out every night and they are out of there.
They get to the beach and the boys have on the red lifegaurd shirts they wore in NC when Just Jon, K8, and Jenny went. The girl tups had on the same dresses as when they went to see the wild horses.
Sorry....I am ashamed of myself.
I didn't watch the show but the preview alone made me puke in my mouth. What kind of DIVA garbage is TLC trying to pull?
TLC don't condescend to this audience.
Even if Kate did have to do dishes in the bathtub - SO FREAKIN' WHAT!!! How is that a hardship.
The reality is that Kate doesn't have to lift a manicured finger because everything is done for her.
Who exactly is TLC trying to market this show to? Most people are out of work or in a bad situation because of this economy. But they air an episode of Kate and her diva routine and call it entertainment. It's just sickening. TLC you have no ethics.
ForeverHopeful said...
Sure do hope that the "old" cabinets and appliances go to a worthwhile cause!
If I could have just left for two weeks and gone to an island while OUR kitchen was being remodeled (after 32 years!)you bet I would have JUMPED at the chance!
I think that both Kate and Jon have been under lots of stress for a number of years. They handle stress differently. They have different "solutions" for managing their stress.
If whatever they are doing can lessen the stress on the children, I think it is worth it to head to a beach and/or for Jon to sow some wild oats.
Without a doubt I think both Jon and Kate have gone WAAAAY crazy about all this, but none of us have been in their shoes either.
I'm watching the show to see how Kate copes and especially watching to see how the kids are responding to their new lives.
So far, I have to say that crazy as things seem to be, the children are responding better than I have ever seen them respond.
For me, that's good enough...for now!
That kitchen has enough cabinet space! Enough for each Gosselin to fit in themselves.
I recall reading that both Cara and Maddy left the beach vacation early (either because they had school or they were upset because Jon wasn’t there). Was that explained on the episode?
I didn’t watch so I don’t know how that was handled. I suppose they could have shot enough footage while the twins still there to cover their absence and not mention it (which is what I suspect the network did) or they could have honest (shock) and explained the girls early return.
I was just wondering…
P.S. I can't believe "germaphobic" didn't select Engineered Stone (i.e DuPont Zodiaq®, LG Viatera®, Cambria Quartz, and Silestone®) instead of Granite for her counter tops.
Granite is expensive, but becoming more affordable. It requires maintenance and can absorb stains if not sealed. Knives can become dull if you cut on it and it can crack if stressed or improperly installed.
Whereas Engineered stone is composed of 93% quartz particles. It is available in a larger range of colors than granite and has a nonporous surface that resists scratches. It's easy to maintain, without the annual sealing required by granite. It is often more expensive that granite but it is resistant to stains, heat, and acid. It also resists growth of mold, mildew and bacteria (hence my reference to K8's 'germaphobia').
The only positive thing that should be happening in the lives of the Gosselin kids is having the show cancelled. While you may feel this is a wonderful show and that as adults we can choose whether to watch the show or not, it really saddens me that the Gosselin children have NO choice as to whether they want their lives displayed on film..isn't that rather disturbing? I am proud of single mothers who live REAL lives and have respect not only for their children, but for themselves.
New Theory on the Drama said...
Okay -- here's my New Theory!
I now believe wholeheartedly that the entire "girlfriend" thing with Jon was just a set-up to get the sympathy pendulum swinging back to Khate's side.
Why?
Because she is the one who was out promoting the books, clothing line, cookbook, cooking show, craft ideas, etc.
SHE is the one who was out scamming the public for more money for the family - aside from the money the poor kids were making for the family.
Jon has said he's not interested in that sort of thing - so with everyone hating Kate so much - they needed to get the public back on her side -- so they can salvage the cook book, children's clothing line and her planned tv show.
Believe me people -- this is how DIABOLICAL and EVIL these people and the TLC and Figure 8 people are.
I'm sure Jon and Khate have it all worked out and all this other stuff is just drummed up drama to get the tabloids going against Jon and in favor of Khate.
I don't think Khate could care less who Jon hangs out with or what he does.
Remember -- she didn't even like him "breathing" so you know she is really glad he's not there at all!
You mark my words -- they are plotting to get Khate back doing all sort of things -- which are all made up and fake anyway.
All they have done for the last year is LIE bigtime to the viewing public -- so you know they just cooked up these colossal lies to curry favor to Khate's side....
you watch.
Of course the children are going to respond positively to any extra motherly attention Kate gives them...they've been craving it for the past 5 "seasons"...I'm sure they are just giddy...too bad it's only for the cameras. It should be like that ALL THE TIME. Nothing has changed....TLC is just trying to show us a "new Kate" to keep the cash cow alive.
Like her "best friend" and "best friends husband that works at XXXX company"...blah....we all know that your best friends name in this case is TLC....I swear TLC thinks we are so dumb.
And all this stuff happened BEFORE they announced they were divorcing, but Kate kept mentioning over and over how hard this time was and blah, blah, blah. Its obvious now that they planned to divorce long before they announced it, and only waited so it could be A MONEY MAKER for the show.
Kate is pathetic. Oh and Hannah is seriously becoming a brat from being the favorite so much.
TLC needs to step up the script writing and get acting coaches for Just Jon and Kate. Everything coming out of their mouths was laughable and unbelievable. It depends on your kids age, I didn't watch last night but will watch the episodes eventually (now being told to wait a week!) But, when I do my 8, almost 9 year old daughter will watch with me. We enjoy snarking and also, it has proved to bring up great discussion topics about "reality" television, the sham of celebrity, and the meaning of true family. I've always told my daughter that you can learn from other people's mistakes. You don't have to go through it and experience it for yourself. So, she is learning a lot about what really matters by watching other people screw up. If it becomes salacious in a sexual manner I won't let her watch it, but I don't think that will happen. It isn't about being in charge, I'm letting her watch it with a purpose.
Also, if Kate were to change... that is a good life lesson to.
<><><><><><>
I've been reading people's comments on the episode at a couple of different sites, and it appears both the "what planet are you from" that I saw on the preview and the "move these flowers" comments are both from the planning stages of the kitchen, which I read they said took place in January 2009 and they had warm clothes on so most likely is correct and not false editing. Those comments were made way before they separated. If what we suspect is true it would be right around the time Jon started partying and maybe Kate came to him with a contract. It still doesn't excuse her comments, but I guess I'm just saying that she didn't say these things after they were separated and divorce filings had happened. When the install was happening was when she went to NC and that was late May and early June - they probably were separated at that time but it had not been announced yet. May 25th was when they had the "we don't know what is going on" couch comments together - the big new season episode. A month later they did the divorce announcement (we skipped over separation announcement) and then they went on hiatus.
Oh my. I'm ashamed I watched this train wreck, but since the beach trip was near where I live, I just had to see it. I ditto everything else that has been said, but I just have to add in my 2 cents regarding Khate's comments about the paparazzi following her here in NC. You have to really do something big (like call them, perhaps?) in order for paparazzi to follow you around in NC! I live in Wilmington (not far from Bald Head- Khate and the kids will visit my town on the show next week), and in the time I've been here, we've had 2 long-running TV shows and numerous movies filmed locally that have drawn some fairly well-known actors. NEVER have I EVER seen a paparazzo taking pics of any of them! They go about their business and blend in just like anyone else. They may get an fan here or there that stops to talk to them, but for the most part, no one cares. One of them recently moved back to LA and ever since there have been tons of pap photos of him, while I used to see him around town all the time, no pomp & circumstance, no bodyguards, no pictures. I was watching one of the E! specials they aired after the separation announcement and they interviewed some locals who were around when K8 was in town. I remember one of them was amused that Khate came in with her posse of bodyguards, yet you'll never see the celebs that live locally with them. Then there's the issue about Bald Head Island. I've never been there. You have to take a ferry and it's pretty exclusive. I can't imagine that it would be so difficult to keep the photogs at bay. Try Figure 8 Island next time, Khate. Al Gore used to vacation there when he was VP, as do other celebs, and that place is guarded like Ft. Knox. Trust, no paps would get on that island. But than again, what fun would that be for our dear Khate?
Once again another episode that is nothing more than a staged infomercial for Coleman and some cabinet company. There is nothing realistic about the lives they are now living! When we remodeled our kitchen not only did we have to do all the work ourselves, but we also had to just suck it up and do the dishes in the sink. Sorry but Jon & Kate have become nothing more than a souped up version of QVC or HSN and don't even get me started on the whole marriage and kid thing.... that's a totally new can or worms.
Did anyone catch her COMPLETE lack of sentimentality when she threw those bibs away? It was like "another milestone" toss 'em in a box. I have four kids and even if totally frazzled, when they pass a milestone I at least take a minute to reflect on it and the memories surrounding it.
Why oh why did I watch? Oh yea, human nature to watch a train wreck.
Did she really say she can "relate to single moms"?
She didn't pay for that kitchen! Another lie "I do it for the kids!"
She didn't pay for that vacation! She demanded TLC get her out of the house because she couldn't handle the rennovation. Another lie "I do it for the kids!"
She didn't pay for the camp out! Coleman and Hershey did! Another lie "I do it for the kids!"
Everything she does is to draw attention to her pathetic narcissistic self!
I have not watched these greedy freeloaders (who think that the entire world owes them a first class lifestyle) for over a year because KON makes me physically ill. For the life of me though I cannot understand why anyone would find their "lifestyle" entertaining? I equate it to watching criminals shovel money into their grubbing pockets. But KON is even worse because some of the money that they're stealing is because they are exploiting their underage children. Just like TLC, KON are beyond repugnant and beyond abominable!
DISCLAIMER: OK, I watched the 2 new episodes. We don't have a Neilsen box in our apartment, and we have basic cable with no box or account in our name, it's provided with the rent. So we aren't being counted. And in the far-fetched chance some ad person from TLC is reading this and counting me, here's a news flash: I will not buy any product from any sponsor of the show.
That said here's my take on the show as it stands now.
1. Are Jon or Kate even capable of opening their mouths without a lie coming out? Everything they say even sounds phony and guilty, like when a little kid lies to cover up something wrong he did. All the "reasons" they give for doing what they do are sickeningly phony. For example we know why they did the camping: to feature Coleman products, not so Kate could bond with her kids (accompanied by a producer, cameraman, sound man, and a staff of "PA"s). And we also know the trip to Outer Banks was so Kate could get photographed in a bikini with her new breasts, and spend some time with Steve on TLC's dime. Does TLC believe there really are very many people who don't read the tabloids, either in print, on TV or online?
2. What the heck was with the stealth night-vision shots of Kate in her underwear in the tent? People let their children watch this show. That was just unncessary, and shows a)what a narcissist she is, and b)what a low-class sensationalist panderer TLC is.
3. These two episodes were about as interesting as watching my leg hair grow. If gawkers were tuning in to see what these tabloid celebs are about, I guarantee they won't be tuning in next week. TLC spent a month creating an elaborate scenario of scandal in the media just to pump ratings for one show. I am convinced that everything was staged or planted, including Kevin and Jodi's last-minute interview (they made their first interviews right before the divorce episode). But just like for the divorce episode, it will be a one-time ratings spike at best. The show is out of gas, that's the bottom line.
3. Jon, Kate and TLC made one fatal mistake. They made the split too soon. The tups are oblivious and the twins aren't mature enough for it to fully sink in. If they'd waited another 5 years they could've filmed the twins rebelling to the divorce in full teenage force, with the tups emulating them. Imagine the juicy chaos in that Ms. O'Neill.
I've had granite countertops for 7 years and other than sealing them once a year, have done nothing and they look brand new. I didn't care for the look of the engineered stone; don't think they look natural.
Too each his own, but granite doesn't harbor germs anymore than other countertop materials.
I liked this episode :ducks:.
I think both Kate and Jon explained the need to get the kids out of the renovation area - they're 5 and curious and it was a dangerous place for them to wander around.
I also understand why they would want pull out shelves on the lower cabinets and I was surprised that house didn't already have them.
Anyway, I saw a lot more positive things in this episode than I did in the episodes leading up to the separation. If you didn't watch the show, how can you argue it was horrible?
Yes, Kate, your kitchen is "yours, all yours" and now you've reno'd it into a monument to yourself, as it mirrors your heart/soul (what there is left of those).
I had zero trouble NOT watching last night and am DONE with this whole freak show. It's far more entertaining to read comments on this blog than to watch Kate demand constant, never-ending attention while demeaning everyone around her.
When a pipe broke in our house in January, I was without an operational kitchen for nearly 2 weeks while the house dried out (industrial dehumidifiers and fans EVERYWHERE). We ate take out on paper plates, I cooked in my office upstairs with the slow cooker, and we went to friend's houses to fill in the gap.
Now that we have settled with insurance, I am facing many weeks of my entire ground floor being torn to shred, while my son starts kindergarten. We will be having wooden floors torn out and replaced, stained, and finished, new vinyl in the kitchen (which may necessitate removing and storing the lower cabinets). Since everything will be torn up anyway, we are going to paint the entire ground floor.
Since our insurance company will not do anything to shelter our pets during this charming time, I doubt we will spend more than a couple nights in a local hotel.
What I wouldn't give for two weeks in a luxurious beachfront home with my family.
Hey, kitchen renovations happen, live it, it's life unscripted! Go to your local Holiday Inn Express (where they have a pool) and make do there.
Brava to Kate that she was able to breathe deeply and keep the stress of renovations from ruining her vacation.
FUNNY PART: Joel walked in the kitchen when the men were working and asked "Why are we getting a new kitchen?" LOLOLOL. Then he gets a lame answer from the worker about there not being enough cabinet space.
-----------------------------------
I didn't really think that paper plates could take up all that much space in the cabinets. I really don't think this is an issue with Kate. When Emeril was shown eating with them, although I will admit no paper was used, they didn't even show any linens on the table. I guess everyone has different priorities but these are the things that I would be buying before Ann Taylor.
I had to laugh though when Just Jon blew K8's cover of why he was staying at home. The man-child said he and K8 weren't getting along and needed some space. Yep, a few states away should do it.
Instead of seeking some counseling for their marital problems and try to get to the source of why they werent getting along and 'NEEDED space from each other', Kate hops on a plane and jets off for a two week beach resort vacation in NC.
who washes dishes in a tub? use a bathroom sink.
or that banquet room you seem to have (what was that?)
my mother washed her laundry in the tub for two years cause she was afraid to tell my father the washer was broken. (yup, he tended to gumgate when things broke down. actually Kate almost makes him look tame).
I love good cabinets. Never had 'em but I love them. Merillat, which I have heard of for at least 20 years, never needs to worry about me buying their products. but if I could ever afford it, their competitors sell the same type of cabinets i'm sure.
I tried watching the TLC type home makeover shows - but they consist of a bunch of gaspy, breathless women, running around like worker bees, talking too much about their makeovers. I miss Lynette Jennings! (bet she is no longer on basic cable)
We did get to see a bit more of the house, yard and pool. and I can't ignore a good train wreck.
unfortunately, I must have been distracted by the internet, as I remember that Spray n Wash ad. I usually FF thru the commercials. And I have a homemade DVR, so I'm hard to count.
Sadly, I'm now going to have to write a mean letter to Target. I really like Target.
And yes, she finally tossed the bibs.
Also, when she dissed Jon, the cabinet people had to disagree and tell her that (something) actually *did* exist. That was fun.
She even admitted the PAs put up her big tent.
Not that I think she's turned nice. Either it slipped out, or someone told her to act nice.
Sad, though... that Spray & Wash looked like it might get those black stains out of my pants. Oh well. I just bought a big bottle of Oxyclean. Maybe it will work.
Just the description of the ep was obscene.
Kate doesn't want to do dishes in the tub so she goes to the beach.
In North Carolina??
Wow, that's a major aversion.
I have to go to my half-a-job, soon. Must dig up something unstained.
Hey, did you all notice P&G no longer plugging Kate? Cool! Now I can buy Pampers for the duck and Pantene for me.
btw, at 9 I watched Chuck. I watched on DVD but you can also watch season 1 on thewb.com We're trying to get new viewers, so if you're bored on Monday nights... :-)
Oh and when Kate mentioned a best friend I wondered, who's left? And why does Carla or Ashley hang around? Worried about the kids maybe?
Placate Kate so you can be near the kids. Guess someone has to.
Plakate.. hmmm...
So I can't say I don't watch TLC - I like the Little Couple (esp when Jen is at work) and I'll watch the Duggars now and then. Depends on the topic. Taking the fatherless friends to father and daughter campout nearly tore my heart out.
When was this renovation/beach thing? January? May? I was confused.
Forever Hope,
I also watched and enjoyed the shows. The kids seemed happy, nothing inappropriate was shown, and Kate seemed fairly normal. It seems to me that they have addressed most things that people complain about (except cancelling entirely)
I am still not sure where I fall on the whole exploitation issue. For the most part I just think Jon and Kate are dreadful people who I would not hang out with. I think that colors people's opinions of the show itself.
I'll probably keep watching. The $ they are getting just doesn't bother me. A lot of relatively undeserving people end up with a lot of money. Life's not fair.
TLC is really screwing with the time line. When J&K were discussing the kitchen remodel, Kate was wearing the infamous green babydoll dress - the date flashed on the screen was January, 2009. Definitely a summer outfit - no way would she wear that outfit in January in PA!
And I believe her hair was shorter in the green dress, and then got longer when they met with the cabinet people (and she was more appropriately dressed for winter).
If TLC wants to pull the wool over the eyes of the viewers, doesn't someone take a look at the continunity of things?
Weird.
Jon and Kate's REALITY is gonna HIT hard!!!!!!!!! They think they are smart because they negotiate contracts and get what they asked for$$$$$$$. They get freebies from all these endorsements co. BUT in the end TLC and others are making MILLIONS per day off of them, while Jon and Kate get thousands per episode and they can only get paid if they put their dirty laundry out for the world to see. TLC has masterminded manipulating these clowns because they are followers and have no depth. TLC knows it far too well and they know that in the end no show last forever and the Gosselins are those kids parents not TLC and they have to pick up the pieces. TLC dangled $$$$ at the Gosselins to see how far they would go....and BINGO they hit the JACKPOT.
The joke is on them because they truly believe TLC is going to take care of them. So naive maybe but they are just plain STUPID.
Hey Jon and Kate....not to long ago you were hypathetically poking fun at the Duggars. But at least they are smart enough, stern, and independent to put their foot down. They are filmed doing FAMILY stuff and travel to 3rd world countries
doing charitable work for others. They do not depend on the government for anything due to decisions they have made. YOU HAVE and in the end when the $$$ is gone and TLC has sued you guys for one reason or another your ass will be in at the welfare office cuz that is what you know.
What about the part when a girl 'tup (Leah? Alexis? I can't tell them apart) came out of the beach house onto the back deck and pointed to her body and announced:
Why would a barely 5-yr-old girl be emphasizing over and over the fact that her swimsuit is a bikini versus any other type of swimsuit ?
Answer: Because she's heard Kate emphasize the fact that she herself can wear bikinis.
What are these parents emphasizing?
During the Crooked Houses episode, I never once heard ANY of those kids tell the men "Thank you"...NOT ONE TIME.
The lack of values & manners is truly appalling.
If you remember correctly Jon wasn't home the whole time the kitchen renovation was going on. When Kate was at the beach the same time when Jon was in NY with Hailey's family and in NJ shopping at a mall with them.
I like how Jon said that they had to leave at 4:00am to avoid the paparazzi but from PA to NC outer banks is a long drive and they would probably leave that early anyway to get a jump of traffic. He also says the paparazzi are outside his home 24/7 so if that is the case leaving at 4:00am wouldn't help the paparazzi would still be outside. They blame the paparazzi for everything.
You know what would have been really nice? The Gosselin's offering to donate that kitchen renovation to a large family who is suffering right now due to the economy, someone really in need. Instead they renovate the mansion they just bought and take a 2 week beach vacation? They just end up coming off oblivious and arrogant. At least then they wouldn't have been given the opportunity to moan about how the renovation was going to disrupt their lives. Was i the only one scratching my head at that?
Over and over again they've claim their new found appreciation for their fans, the people who watch their show, but they clearly have no clue as to what happening outside of their bubble.
I have been wondering something--how do the producers, camera guys, sound guys, food services, etc. feel about J&K getting all the freebies while they are there "working for a living?" It must be hard to see all this in your face when they must have families they are trying to provide for. I honestly do not know how they can stay around Kate for the amount of time they do. I would call that "hazard pay!" At any rate, I am trying not to purchase anything that is advertised on their show. My son thought the Ed Hardy school stuff was cool, but I told him that we needed to help the Gosselin children and not support anything that they advertise. He even agreed!
I find it funny that Khate just up & decided she was going to rent a house for 2 weeks (around Memorial Day, no less) on the spur of the moment & it all fell into place. I'm sure this was no spontaneous trip- it was planned.
The most ridiculous thing about this trainwreck of an episode was how Jon was saying that the kitchen remodel was "for the kids." That is laughable. The kids cook now? lol I doubt those kids are even allowed to come in the kitchen and get a snack or drink. These are the kids who god screamed at for eating leftover strawberries on the 4th of July episode for crying out loud.
?WHY? said...
I hadn't watched the show in ages. Last night I decided to watch, don't kno why but I did, lol. Anyway that scene of Kate and the kids was so different....I mean Kate wasn't screeching ((yelling)) and the kids weren't crying and hitting each other. I can only guess that with Jon not around for her to yell at there is a lot less stress for the kids. If I had just started to watch the show I'd prob of found last nights show enjoyable.
The part about getting a new updated kitchen is just silly. I would love to have her old kitchen, lol. I guess with all the drama going on they are still going to get the freebies? It kills me that so many companies want to throw stuff their way. Couldn't they find a more deserving family to give it too, Seriously?!
I noticed how Jon kept saying how good a new kitchen was going to be "for the kids" and how the house was "for the kids". I guess if he keeps saying it enough he will start to believe it. Or maybe he's trying to convince us, either way its not really working.
Anyway enjoyed reading all your posts. Didn't watch the second episode, so I'm gonna hop on over to the other post to see what you all have to say.
Still believe this show is harming the kids more that helping them.
Very poor editing. Saw some clips online today. I am pretty sure those few seconds were from the same day as "the first cookout at the new house." It was NOT in January and was definitely in May. Never, ever has one of them mentioned wanting a new kitchen.
Please tell me I've misread and she didn't actually claim that her children, ages 5 and 8, really wanted a new kitchen!!!
I've read many of the comments here and I am perplexed...people are wondering how these companies keep giving to Kon and Take...three words...you are watching! This farce will continue as long as there are viewers. They are laughing all the way to the bank.
In the beginning I was really happy for them to get free stuff. But now it's so unbelievable to me! I started watching the show and then when I realized she was getting a free kitchen(I thought the old kitchen looked GREAT) I turned it off. I don't even wan to set a timer for this show anymore because then the network will think I like it. I'm sorry their marriage broke but I'm done with the Gosselins!!!
I didn't watch last night but from the comments about the new kitchen it sounds like the show should be re-titled, "Lifestyles of the 'B*tch' and 'Shameless' "
Bald Head Island is near Wilmington, NC and close to Myrtle Beach, SC. The only way to reach it is by ferry. Most likely they flew in either to Wilmington or Myrtle Beach from Philly. Khate did NOT have to sneak out of the house to avoid the paps. How absurd for Jon to say that. What were the paps going to do? Follow them all the way to the airport and than catch a plane without tickets??? BUT the Paps were conveniently already on Bald Head Island when Khate arrived! They are both such liars! They lie directly into the camera and think they are fooling people. This is what sociopaths do. I am convinced that BOTH of the Kons are sociopaths. Throw in the "best friend" business and the crap about just making arrangements the day before Memorial Day to rent a house big enough for her entire posse, plus make travel arrangements, plus make living arrangements for the TLC crew. Hey, they didn't show her packing for the two week journey. Wasn't that a big exhausting deal in previous episodes??
Several of the kids: "Why are we getting a new kitchen?"
Kate (from the interview chair): "The kids wanted a new kitchen."
-----------------------------------
Please do not tell me Kate actually said "The kids wanted a new kitchen" (I dont't watch)
I am so sick of them constantly saying "everything we do is for the kids". Not only are the kids responsible for supporting the whole family so Jon and Kate don't have to work but they are also being used as an excuse for every irresponsible thing the Gosselins do.
Saying the kids wanted a new kitchen has got to be one of the most ridiculous things Kate has ever said. I swear every time one of them opens their mouth they manage show their stupidity.
Of course, the kids then asking why they are getting a new kitchen is priceless.
Well folks, the ratings are out -- unfortunately they are not what we were hoping for.
4 million @ 9:00 pm & 4.2 million for 9:30
Here's the link.
My roommate and I were watching last night and were appalled to see KON getting rid of their stove-a Viking Range. We work at a company that assembles the ranges for Viking and let me tell you, those stoves are ridiculously nice. They have cast iron grates even! They also cost upwards of $9000.
IT must be nice to get to throw out a barely used stove that a normal person couldn't afford to replace it with a newer even more expensive one.
Don't even get me started on the refrigerator!
She didn't throw those things away. They just moved them to install the cabinets.
Feeling very sad today said...
I didn't watch and haven't for a long time. I did get on here this morning to see what my fellow GWOPers had to say. It absolutely makes me want to weep when I think of all the goodies these two have acquired. We have so little, are thankful for what we do have and try very hard to live a life that will teach good morals to our kids. We are very into volunteer work and make sure we include the kids in these works of mercy.
I just some days want to cry out to the heavens that I need a break too. Then I am consumed with guilt because I feel this way. Why in the name of all that is good do these people continue to receive but are never moved to give?
All this kitchen renovation happened before the divorce announcement. IMO in correlation with the fall release of Kate's cookbook that Kate was going to get a show like Rachel Ray. But when all the backlash appeared after the announcement the book was put on hold and well dang it all poor Kate got was a new kitchen out of the whole deal. I'm sure the cabinet and appliance companies were looking forward to a show highlighting their products but as on now is on hold. Will the cookbook get published?? If it does IMO Kate will have a cooking show in that new kitchen.
It doesn't really surprise me that people are tuning in to the Kon show for amusement, as a bad joke, to laugh at the possum headed woman with the big mouth. I wish those viewers would think about the children and what has happened, is happening and will happen to them and just watch something more real --- spongebob square pants come to mind.
No, seriously, when I was in college there were shows we watched religiously just to mock them. We didn't buy the products advertised; that wasn't our goal. Don't you guys think it is possible that the ratings are extremely inflated by viewers who just think this is funny stuff, being divorced on TV, etc.?
I don't know if its been said yet...But here goes. Please put some long pants on the little girls when they are in the interview chair.
When they are older they will thank you for it.
I see Kate's only friend 'Carla'
got the benefit of Kate's "OLD" kitchen. I was hoping that she'd donate it to Habitat for Humanity, or one of the none profit groups that rebuild homes in poverty stricken areas or flood areas where people were left homeless...but NO Kate just gives it to Carla, whom I'm sure has a just fine kitchen already. That's Kate's way of "BUYING" OR "OWNING"
Carla's daughter for a "helper" whenever she needs her. There's always an ulterior motive in Kate's mind.
Joel Gosselin had the quote of the night when he said, "Why do we need a new kitchen?"
Good question, Joel. That $$ could have probably put you and one of your brothers though college!
Midwest Mom,
The kids didn't say "thank-you" for the Crooked Houses because when they do say it, the response is "you're NOT welcome!" Remember the puppies?
