Camping Out, August 3

The kids can't wait to sleep under the stars, but Kate still has to figure out how to set up multiple tents and start a campfire by herself! Will the demands of outdoor camping be too much, or will a campout with eight kids prove to be surprisingly fun?

I for one am going to put my money where my mouth is. I am bowing out of the viewership for this show. I believe it is morally and ethically wrong to continue this show under these circumstances. I had unscheduled the show from my DVR programming. I plan to continue to watch The Little People and perhaps the Duggars but Jon and Kate are no longer part of my viewing experience. Just because I can watch it doesn't mean I should or I will. It feels good to have made the decision to set boundaries for myself and my behavior since the Gosselins refuse to set any for their behavior.

If they try to claim the kids love camping out all the time I'll scream! They did it ONCE in the old house then sold the gear at the yard sale. And last month a load of new gear from Coleman appeared and the boxes were thrown out afterward. So they do not regularly camp and this is all a stupid set up to make us think Kate "can do" when she can't. And we know that behind the scenes someone else is going to do the bulk of the work! Now, if I took MY kids camping alone, I'd have to do all of it myself with no helper people so this is not relatable AT ALL!

TLC--Life, Scripted! This is all scripted for the kids and Kate to do.
I do not think she would go out and buy all of her camping equipment and set it up on her own. I have no respect for TLC or Jon or Kate. I do hope the kids had fun in this episode, maybe it did not seem so much like work.

I now have abolutely no interest whatsoever in watching this show. It now seems so boring. Its not about the kids anymore. I would rather tune into something else. Both parents have their faults. I cannot stand either of them. I will not waste time out of my day to watch them. Even the trailer for the new show just didnt do anything for me. It didnt make me want to watch the show.

frankly, i don't watch anymore and I find the daily online stuff much more "interesting" and think it shows who they really are, unlike the TV show, which is a bunch of made up scripted nonsense.

Who really gives a s@#$ if they can "camp"...too me camping isn't in the back yard. This show IS scripted. And I give it 4 zzzz's.

Oh she will hem and haw and bitch and moan about how hard it is. I think I could turn this episode into a drinking game and probably get toasted in the first five minutes by taking a sip each time she refers to herself as a single parent. If that fails, I could take a sip each time she says her kids are her first priority. By drinking on both accounts, I fear I will be passed out before the credits roll.

I predict she will talk about how life has handed her a terrible blow and that she should be pitied. But gosh, but she won't let it affect her children. She is going to BUCK UP and make the absolute best of it, by golly. (With the cameras rolling the entire time!)

She will be the martyr weather it is camping "alone" with the kids or having to *gasp* skip a spa day so that she can spend time with them...after all, it is ALL about them. I almost feel a tear in my eye. No wait, it is just allergies.

She will try and play her bitchiness about having to set up camping equipment as a true comedy routine, complete with her big sighs and "pity me" expression. Of course you and you and you and you and I know that she will struggle with it for the camera's sake and then *poof* all the non-helpers will set it all up for her, with the Coleman logos fully visible to the viewers.

If something goes wrong, it will be Jon's fault. If something goes right, it is only because of her and her amazing parenting skills. If it rains, Jon did it. If the tent is too small, it is because Jon shrunk it. If the grass is too green, the birds are singing too loudly or if the P people cannot see the tents even though she probably will set them up at the end of the drive way, it will allllll be Jon's fault.

And just think, I will miss the whole darn show. Someone please let me know if I am on target. :-)

I personally believe this is going to be the final season for the show.....our intelligence is being insulted, they are taking advantage of the sheer fact that they had these children, and I sure hope TLC pulls the plug. This was once a relatable couple, now it is becoming silly........get rid of KON....we have all been duped. And seriously, it must be said, Jon, we are sick of your friggin additude, and snoots you make when speaking of your divorce, and we all knew Kate was a witch, but the diamond earrings and bachelor pad???? Come on.....

The more I watch clips on Radaronline of the children being filmed, the angrier I become. Everything in their world is fake. One clip showed Jon being handed some kind of treat for the him to pass out to the kids....we all know that if that airs, it will appear that Jon got the treats himself.

My own kids are close in age to the Gosselin children (mine just turned 6 and 10) and I can't imagine them having to go through their day-to-day life with a camera shoved in their faces and booms above their heads. Some aspects of childhood are hard enough to deal with without millions of people watching. Maddy and Cara are soon to be tweens and they FOR SURE will have major issues with this. As Jon and Kate themselves have told us, the tups don't know any different. So sad.

Kate setting up tents and making a fire. Hmmmm.....what a vast difference in attitude from the ONE TIME they went camping in the old house and she was flipping out because she thought the kids would fall into the fire. Guess even badly acted parenting can be canceled out for the sake of ratings. She and Jon both conduct their lives around what will bring viewership.

Now that I think of it.....how could their children EVER know "reality" when their parents long ago forgot what it was themselves?

pinkdiamond611 said...

Why do they need tents? They already have the $5000 a piece crooked houses?

Oh my gosh! I just saw the commercial for the episode tomorrow. What a complete joke. I literally LOL and my daughter and I mocked it for about 15 minutes afterwards. Do they really think that people will think k8 is something special for putting up a cheap tent? Hell I did that 2 weeks ago and never gave it a second thought until today and busted out laughing at her when she stuck her jaw out like a two year old playing with their blocks. It's a simple tent k8, not a rocket, although I'm sure you have one of those since no man will come within 10 feet of you. *snicker*

I hope on this epi they discuss the divorce. Basically Kate doesn't like the terms of the divorce/separation so she's going to make a stink every step of the way. This is while Jon's lawyers are busy moving all their assets, everything they can find, into a trust. This is a nighmare job, because apparently Kate likes to hide cash in the house and other people's bank accounts.

Makes me wonder when the last time they both paid taxes was, and if the IRS is going to go after a big chunk of what they've got. Once the amount is produced to a court the IRS can then make them both account to where the money has gone. All those supposed charities/churches....Hope they kept receipts.

Now if she found a way to invalidate the separation agreement... her lawyers have to approach it with iron-clad reasons that the judge will absolutely accept. Because they only get one chance to dispute it completely so it's thrown out. If they fail, she's automatically done and her percentage of all the money she's earned gets split between the kids and Jon...

WooHoo! Sorry - I'm an accountant, so Gosselins' financial mess has always fascinated me. I really do think this is going to be one of the most interesting celeb divorce ever. AUDIT time. And the funny part is I bet its Kate turning in Jon or vice versa. Kate has no problem airing their dirty laundry for all to see. Especially if it means Jon's girlfriends don't see a penny of her book money.

If I recall correctly, TLC has already featured an episode of the Gosselin children along with their PARENTS camping and roasting marshmallows in the backyard? What were Kate's contributions to the set up, preparation, and participation during in the previous 'memory making' camping episode? Did Kate ONLY participate while on CAMERA and otherwise designated herself to the sidelines awaiting her 'cue' to step in and ACT like the participating albiet frantic mommy. Is the August 3rd episode REALLY about the CHILDREN wanting to camp outdoors or KATE doing a little damage control to appease criticisms suggesting that she is an absent non participating parent? Going by Kate's endless use of the words 'I' and 'ME' in the episode promo, the season premiere will undoubtedly be ALL ABOUT KATE, per usual!

I guess she forgot how to camp from the time they did it last "season???"

I remember several months ago where Radaronline or justjared posted several pics of Jon-boy or Khate (can't remember which one)picking up packages at the UPS store with the Coleman name on them. We all figured then that there was an "outdoor" episode coming up. TLC can't tell us this is not all planned and scripted. Furthermore, we all KNOW that the production assistants set everything up and do all the work. Khate is in the scene for a minute to make it look like she is all alone and has done it ALL by herself. I call BS on that! LIARS! I have not watched in months and I do not plan to watch Monday. I can't stomach that evil shrew.

Think she'll have her hair done up in Little Orphan Annie curls for this epi?

Ugh just saw commercial for camping episode. It's amazing: Kate can be doing something innocuous (lying down with kids in the tent and playing with them) yet she still makes my skin crawl.

Monday nights show is going to be about Jon and Kate moaning and bitching about this cruel, ugly world where everybody's against them. And how hard their lives are now. Oh my God.

I won't be watching.

Denise said...

These two are so greedy. I can't believe with all the negative press there will be a show tomorrow night!

I think it would be humiliating enough that the whole world now knows their intimate business. But I do think it's got to be extra humiliating for everyone to find out that her husband, who seemed like Prince Charming, is actually a slimy, cheating ass who betrayed her. Jon is ready to move on but why is Kate still insisting that the show go on?!

Ahhh Krap said...

I guess they're still getting what they need from each other. Kate can still provide Jon with the lifestyle and D-list celebrity attention he enjoys. Kate gets to appear with a ex-husband too be, which makes it all worthwhile for her. They probably spend a lot of time apart or busy, with Kate working on her career and Jon working on his, uh, co-eds.

" To those that so much is given, so much is expected." They can NEVER deliver, never. Its just not in those 2 shallow, vacuous people.
I still ask myself "why them", when anyone else would be so grateful and thankful and loving, over being graced with SO much.

Okay, I must admit I use to love to watch the precious little ones as they began to walk and talk. But, really Kate you should have treated your husband with more respect than you did. If I talked to my husband the same way you talked to yours I would not expect him to hang around any longer either. Now if you have filled the bank account enough, shut the camera's off and let your children grow in a normal atmosphere. Be true to them first, nothing is more important than good health and happiness, no amount of money in the world will buy these. When one becomes a parent the child always comes first period. Kate, I know you never liked to be called Jon's wife if I were Jon this statement alone would have made me think of your true feelings and devotion to the relationship.

Wow, camping with one instead of two parents! How original! It's good that they find so many ideas for episodes so different than previous episodes. I mean, they had a trip to the dentist and the orthodontist. They had decorating a cake and decorating cupcakes! A trip to a big zoo and a small zoo! Painting pottery and painting canvases! Taking Joel to a kid museum and taking all of them to that same museum! Taking Cara skiing and taking all of them skiing! Going to Bald Head, NC and another island NC. What will they think up next?

Here are some of my ideas for the upcoming several seasons. Hope TLC is paying attention: Phillies game when the Phillies play a different team; The dogs could swallow an aldegator instead of a pony. One of the kids could get a starburst stuck to a stuffed animal. Colin could pass a kidney stone as Kate peruses living room furniture. Joel could lay on the kitchen floor and vomit. Jon could get a liver transplant and run off with the liver specialists' daughter! Then he could forget to buy dishes without a coupon, instead of a showerhead. Oh, the possibilities are endless! I can't wait for them to get remarried in Alaska!

Not a fan of either said...

Everyone, please don't watch! Let a recapper (that sounds like one of Kate's fake words!) watch. Trust me. I haven't watched in ages and I've found the recaps to be 10 times better than the show ever was. Now, that's entertainment!!!

Seriously, don't watch

for the love of the children

for the love of ourselves to prevent TLC making fools of us, and

for the love of real, honest to God single parents everywhere who are striving day to day to do their very best for their children.

"Jon is ready to move on but why is Kate still insisting that the show go on?!"

Because for Kate, ' her life is the show and the show her life'. Period. Getting PAID TO BE the CHARACTER of a loving wife and a devoted mother to eight children is where Kate shines. Actually BEING the the loving wife and the devoted mother to eight children is simple out of the question for the narcassistic, ego driven, self serving individual that is Kate Gosselin.

To can't fool the gwopers,

Not taking up for Kate but when we saw Kate putting up a tent wasn't it like a big wedding tent and a bouncy house and wasn't that day the day she ate a popsicle in a disgusting manner and she wore one of the ATL dresses and flaged her cooter to the world? That is the only day I remember a tent. Anyway in the TLC promo she is wearing a different outfit shorts and a top. Anyway, just curious if anyone thinks we did see pap pics of this taping. Trying to figure out the timeline of it all. We know kitchen renovations was done about memorial day but not sure if camping was before or after. If it was when the paps have been giving us daily views then it was after.

Everyone who believes that the show appears scripted...you are so right! I don't buy into Kate's new "I can do" attitude for one minute either. The woman will do or say anything to save her show and her money. I am also now equally nauseated by Jon who once had me convinced that he really wanted out of the limelight...ya right!

Girlie said...

If you really want to make an impact, turn the channel tomorrow night. I've written all the sponsors (including Coleman) and it has not seemed to do any good. The only way we are going to have any impact is by not watching, including recording it. Remember how panicked they got when the numbers dropped like a rock for one of their last shows? We can do that again if you just turn them off. Power in numbers.

lindahoyt said...

Jon said in his pap "interview", that the show was "almost like a documentary". Then he went on to says that "sure they have a script, but.." and the pap said, "you mean the kids don't have to learn lines or have rehearsals and that?"....

So, Jon officially let the cat out of the bag that the show isn't real; it is scripted.

The show is like "Curb your enthusiasm"...they have a script, but the actors make up their own lines.

lindahoyt said...

Okay, Jon actually said, "it is almost like documentary..there IS a storyline; but there are no lines..they don't read things..."

Just like "Curb your enthusiasm" and "whose line is it anyway"...

The premise is scripted and Jon and Kate lead the kids along with the script. The kids think what they are doing is real...their reactions are real; but the premise isn't! It is a real life modern "Truman" show. The kids don't realise it is a fake life and everything is a lie. Their lives are played out for the entertainment of America.

Sick and twisted.

Please don't contribute by watching....for any reason.

As much as I am concerned for these children, at this point I am so p*ssed by Kate pretending to know what single parenting is like that all I want is to see her lose it all so she gets to know what it's REALLY like to struggle. My son's birthday is this week and I'm juggling bill due dates to be able to give him a party & a present! And Kate celebrated her kids' birthday with 4 bounce houses!!! I'm just ranting now, so I'll stop...I'm so disgusted by this whole thing.

When child actors say good bye to their on screen parents, they know that it's make believe. The family is pretend, the house is pretend, the story is pretend. These are not actors. This is a family--no mater how dysfunctional. How confusing for a 5 year old to pretend to say goodbye. Especially since this is something that is real in their lives. How do they learn where the line is drawn between real and pretend? Same with Kate putting up a tent "all by herself." The kids hear Kate talk about all that she does by herself, yet they see a whole staff of not-a-helpers! No wonder these kids aren't allowed to have friends--what would happen if they saw what real life is like???

I vomited a little in my mouth and turned off the tv.

I WILL NOT watch that vile woman and her disgusting husband ever again. God help those children.

STOP THE TRAIN!!! said...

Please, please do not watch...TLC is expecting a ratings bonanza as reported below by radaronline...DO NOT GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION!!!!PLease, let's hit the gracy train where it hurts in wallet!!!!

from radaronline:
An anticipated large audience is expected to tune into the new episode of TLC's mega-hit, Jon and Kate Plus 8, when it returns from summer hiatus Monday night.

The break in new episodes hasn't dampened public interest in the Gosselins, the Wernersville, Pennsylvania family, whose show has set record-ratings since problems began simmering between Jon, 32, and Kate, 34.

One noticeable change in Monday's new episode will be confessionals featuring the soon-to-be-divorced parents in separate chairs, as opposed to the couch they had shared in previous episodes.

TLC network president Eileen O’Neill said the network is undecided on whether either of the women Jon has been spotted in public with -- 22-year-old party girl Hailey Glassman, or 26-year-old ex-Star Magazine reporter Kate Major -- will be featured on the family program.

"We are taking things on a case-by-case basis,” she said.

As a former single parent who busted my butt to provide for my kids and made sure they went to college...I'm sickened by the attitude Kate is taking. No pity from me.

I spent years shopping at consignment stores, having my children out on job sites because I couldn't afford a babysitter and still needed to earn grocery money, and budgeting my paycheck so I could afford a new pair of work boots because I'd been walking around with the toe busted out for WEEKS... I've been on food stamps due to a work injury, done the state health insurance thing and praised God for the gift of a beat up old van with no heat or air when my car died.

My kids have turned out well, have gone to college and we have a great relationship. Their memories may not be trips to Hawaii, skiing in Utah or getting priority seating at any event we attended...but they do remember that I did everything I possibly could to give them the things they needed and sometimes wanted. There is genuine love.

The show is boring now. I have no interest in watching. And, to be honest, the kids are really a little too old to be of much interest. Part of the inital appeal was watching how two regular (?) people coped with 8 tiny children who were completely dependent. Now they can feed themselves, use the bathroom, and some, day, hopefully go to SCHOOL. The kids are aging out of the cutie phase. I can watch 4 kids squabbling at my own house anytime!

Not watching the Kon show or TLC at all (even though there are shows I do enjoy on the TLC channel) unless and until the Kon show is off for good. And that goes for any channel that "picks up this show". They should stop showing reruns that obviously humiliate the kids and Jon as well.

Think of those poor kids that are getting ready to go to school and relate to other kids. They are going to have serious transition issues. Good job Jon and Kate! Instead if putting your children's welfare first you have put your own personal wish lists and $$$$$$.

I hope the rating tank, and tank fast for these two losers as well as TLC!

You don't need millions to raise 8 kids. Look at how frugal the Duggar Family lives and how happy and content they are. I bet you wouldn't catch Kate Gosselin in an Aldi Grocery Store. It would be beneath her. Jim-Bob and Michelle can teach the Gosselin parents a thing or two when it comes to spending money.
Kate may think The Duggars are Freaks but I think they are very wise in their frugalness. Is that a word? I think I am losing it.. maybe I should send Kate and her 8 some Tater Tot Casserole and Tuna Taco's. I just have to make sure the Taters and Tuna are Organic!
By the way- KATE, all that organic food your buying has no health benefits so says a recent report put out by numerous scientists who have analyze organic food samples for years and who have come to the conclusion that The Organic Label is just a sham for Organic Growers to charge more money for food they grow and still use chemicals on.

Ya know....like everyone else here, she'll piss and moan about having to set up the tents all by herself - outside of her million+ house, on her beaucoup acreage, with donated camping supplies while there are probably THOUSANDS of families who have lost their homes in this economy who may have to soon resort to living in tents.

The entitlement and the total self-absorption is what gets me. My family doesn't have a lot but we certainly have enough to get by. But by gosh, I teach my kids that they are not more deserving than anyone else and that they should be thankful for what they have. All of her 'my kids deserve this' makes me want to shout out a big ole "WHY?" Why is her family more deserving than anyone else? The fact is, they are not.

Gosh, I'm just so disgusted. She makes me physically ill.

KiSSy, the BEST part of your whole
post was the part when you said you and your children have a great relationship. In the end, people are what it's all about. Loving the people around you and respecting the rest. You can do it on a dime if you have to. No need for luxurious surroundings to show love and respect.

KiSSy said...

No Interest....I TOTALLY AGREE!!

Yes, why exactly do they DESERVE anything more than anybody else?

I'd be more apt to feel for them if she said, "the kids went through a lot to EARN this house". At least she'd be acknowledging their sacrifice.

I have also asked my husband to cancel my DVR setting of J&K+8. We are hard working parents, that raise our children to the best of our ability. In the beginning I thought this couple was the same, my view has changed. I don't see how this could legally be allowed to go on. They should be ashamed for outing their families from those childrens lives and letting those camera men torment them! Parents are supposed to protect to their kids! Not sell them! Good god, they should sign the kids over to Jodi and Kevin, At least they will be entertained and loved in a appropriate manner.

Anonymous said...

I agree with all of you! My husband travels 3 out of 4 weeks a month and I have 4 kids. I do things so my kids will know that women can do things and know how to do things.
I feel that if J&K were as dedicated to their children as they say they are, they would stop this ASAP. Kids need parents not stage managers.
We used to watch the show as a family, but we would point out that parents who love and respect each other DO NOT treat each other the way Kate treated Jon and vise versa. It has been a long sad process, but it is finally over and the sooner that J&K realize it the happier the kids will be.

I see a reuniting or remarriage of J&K in the future, with perhaps a new marriage ceremony in Korea. . . . that would say it all......to be remarried and visit Jon's ancestory. GAG!!

I saw pix also of her packing up boxes (camping gear). One article implied her parents had a campground.......are they suggesting she may actually be taking them "real camping"?? hmmmm

I also read on ET online - that they're gonna show jon making pizza? Please. Why? He already showed he could cook that specialty korean dish -

If they want pizza - order it like everyone else (hehe).

So is this before or after the kitchen renovation?

Oh oh oh - maybe he burned down the kitchen making his pizza - so they HAD to get a new one?

hehehehe

From the little snippet I just watched on ET online - this is NOT the same pictures we were privy to by the p-people with the infamous pantygate.

This is
#1 - in the backyard (vs. front driveway)
#2 - she's in shorts and a much higher necked top (vs. that babydoll dress).
#3 - it's a regular pop-up type tent (vs. those big bouncy thing-a-ma-jigs

So - maybe we're all being duped 2X - once by the supposed paps and yet again at the actual airings......

This kind of stuff makes it so easy for me not to watch - haven't watched at all this season and will continue to keep it off (it's SO easy!!).

Yes, this "Kate alone" business, just really gets to me. It is such an insulting lie, that it makes me furious!

She is never alone! She has housekeepers, grounds keepers, pool cleaners, cooks, people who do her laundry, and a nanny for every minute of the day! She does nothing alone, and never parents her own children. She never did. Jon did all the parenting. She did the yelling and telling people what to do.

It really bothers me, because I know there are so many hard working moms out there, doing it all alone, through no fault of their own--because they have no choice.

When I was a mom of 4 young kids, my husband was in the military. He was never home. Today, military Moms live alone for YEARS at a time. They truly have to do it all alone! Listen their furnaces go out; they sometimes deal with storms, we had a tornado, the plumbing goes out, vehicles blow up, the basement floods, pets are killed, kids have to go to the hospital, there are school problems, teacher conferences, sports; they do all the baths...make all the meals, do all the cleaning, deal with everything, all alone, most of the time! Military families do not live close to relatives who can help. And they have no choice, they must move every few years. It is hard to make close friendships. They are alone, usually in a strange town and working hard at keeping it all together. At the same time they are worrying about their spouse. DEALING with real life crisis and emotional problems dealing with life and death problems...working on a marriage that seems impossible and trying not to resent living the single life, having no fun, and being lonely. They have so much more to deal with than Kate!

Also, military families do not get paid very well. So, that means that they have to earn money as well. And Jon, yes, they manage to do it without selling their kids.

In my case, I ran a daycare, sold Avon, did house parties, cleaned toilets, in people's office buildings, churches, gyms, after hours, and I had to take my kids with me. I waitressed, I worked in a dog kennel and took care of other people's dogs...as well as my own.

Anybody can do things the way Kate does. But there are unrecognized heroes living reality every single day.

Honor those people, by NOT watching the boring, contrived selfish Gosselins.

Great points everyone! I gave up this show before Season 5 and can't switch the channel fast enough when repeats are on. The tups desperately need to start school and learn to socialize on their own and choose their own friends. The thing that concerns me though is how long do you think that it is going to be before a classmate brings in the magazine that shows Leah getting spanked or tells her they saw her p--h in the potty that Kate, in her classful way showed the world. How about Jon taking Colin to the van to help him go to the bathroom when Kate was ignoring his pain and agony because she needed to make a "furniture decision". I'm sure Mady is already being teased because her Mom won't let her have water! You know kids, they can be brutal and the tups have not been exposed to this before and have no idea what is ahead of them when they start school. When kids get teased it is usually until the next better thing comes up. With the repeats on T.V. constantly, and the magazine articles and T.V. appearances etc. these kids are never going to catch a break unless the show stops and they become normal, boring citizens like the rest of us. The "P" will then soon lose interest and the Gosselins can fade into the background like everyone else. Eventually (after time and counseling) they can begin to heal and lead a normal life. J&K if you have a lick of sense left in your brains and really think of your kids first, abandon the show and move on.

If this doesn't just take the cake. TLC really does think that the viewing audience is absolultey moronic.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/tv/bal-ae.zontv02aug02,0,7693243.story

I had to pluck out these 2 jewels.

Laurie Goldberg, senior vice president of TLC, said in an interview last week. "Instead of 'Jon and Kate and the kids take a trip, and look how hard it is to get all of them in that minivan,' now it's going to be, 'Oh, my God, how is Kate going to get them all in the minivan by herself?' "

The kids are 8 and 5!! How hard can really be to get them in and out of a mini-van? When Khate has to get them in and out of a mini-cooper or a Honda Civic then we'll talk until then STFU.

and this one...

"Well, you know what? Divorce is a reality," Goldberg says. "Half the kids out there are living with single parents. There are over 10 million single-parent homes. And seeing a family that's going through that, you know, could be relatable. That's what a lot of families look like - Mom getting frustrated because, 'Oh, my God, I never thought I'd have to pitch a tent by myself. These are the kinds that are harder to do than I thought.' But that's what a lot of families are going through, and we're going to try and be true to that experience for this family."

OMG. I cannot believe that this woman just said this. Ms. Goldberg just b!&*h slapped every single hard working truly single parent (male and female) with that statement. Sorry, but getting frustrated that you have to pitch a tent by yourself in your own 20+ acre backyard is not what a lot of families are going through. How about this for a reality check Ms. Goldberg - Mom getting frustrated because there isn't enough money to pay the electric bill. Mom praying that her child(ren) doesn't get sick/injured because the famil doesn't have any health insurance. Mom worrying about how they are going to keep a roof over their family's head after Dad gets laid off from his job.

Please excuse my language but the motley crew of them just make me mad. Now we know for sure which side the TLC powers that be stand on. Saint "Can do" Khate (dun-dun-daaahhh) is to be the martyr for every single mother since the beginning of time. Yes, every single mother can relate to Saint "Can do" Khate's struggle to put up a tent at her sprawling estate with a pool where she secretly squirrels away $100k in her mcmansion after she returned from her weekly nail salon/tanning bed trip sipping her Starbucks mocha cafe frappecino driving her $85,000 Toyota Land Cruiser. And of course every single mother can relate to having get away to a 2 week "vacation" to the beaches of NC while your new kitchen cabinets are installed next your brand new kitchen appliances so you don't have wash dishes in the bathtub after the meal you never cooked. Oh yeah, every single mother can relate to the great Saint "Can do" Khate.

I need to go vomit now.

They seem to use a different car or SUV everytime they go out.

Hey, don't tune in...it doesn't matter if the tups are still wearing bibs, we know they are emotionally stunted, because of their parents already.

From the day your child is born, you embark on the journey to teach that child to be independent and self sufficient. It's not always easy to watch your child learn to do things on their own, but it is necessary if you are a good parent.
These poor children have slow social skills and their verbal skills seem to be lagging far behind. Point blank, they have been treated as trained monkeys. I can't imagine the confusion these kids will feel when they finally enter school. How embarrassed they will feel with each situation when they realize they are not like the other kids. That alone will get them made fun of. All of that junk that their parents have provided to the tabloids is really going to take a toll. Mady and Cara have a whole other aspect of this to deal with. Poor, poor Gosslin kids. Shame, shame on the Gosslin 'parents'.

They are not really freebies they are just set props and they get shipped either to TLC for another show use or back to Coleman/sponsor.

Just thinking out loud. Why pay taxes on something you WILL NEVER EVER USE again since they are going to tape it again, and that is all they do with those kids!!!!

When they've been photographed by the paps while filming an episode, they were using the van. No doubt it's to keep the charade intact for viewers who don't keep up with the tabloids and don't know (or want to know) how wealthy those two grifters really are.

I do not believe any one of these companies that say that they don't give free items to Kate. Exactly! That's why it drives me nuts to hear Jon say the kids are being filmed just doing what they'd normally do. Sure, they don't have to memorize lines. But they also don't know that the activities have been dictated by the kind of episode TLC wants to create, complete with product placement where possible. They don't know they're playing a role because they're too young to understand what's going on. But someday they will understand that their early years were stolen from them, and they were forced to live a fake life in front of cameras.

I was navy brat. However rather than make multiple moves what my parents did was buy a home in NY where my mom and us 3 sisters lived full time. Dad would come home on leave. This kept us from moving around and gave us one school system and stability.
IMO this was a wonderful decision my parents made. If I were in the same situation, I'd do the same thing.

Growing up we'd see Dad usually for one month a year (Dad was on the Pacific rim tour). When he retired at age 55 we were ecstatic.

Dad passed 2 years ago at 79. I am grateful to him for his sacrifice for us kids and the 24 years we had him home. Damn...now I am choking up.

Is this camping trip with the boys why we didn't see the boys last week. Jon was only with the girls last week. Why would their be no pictures of the camping trip last week with the boys. Kate and Camping: I want to see her go real camping. You know, to a state park filled with real people living life unscripted.

I want to see her plan for the trip and pack the van with all she needs- including the coolers full of food and ice.

I want to see her pitch those tents in sandy soil, in a the growing gloom because she got stuck in traffic on the way to the campground.

I want to see her deal with poison ivy, snakes, sand fleas, chiggers, and other creepy crawlies. I want to see a real campfire, where all you have is wet wood and four matches to make it happen. I want to see her herd her little money-makers in and out of a public bath house (shoes please) and deal with midnight potty breaks on the porta pot.

A nice touch would be a rain event in the night which renders two of three tents unusable, forcing everyone to bunk up together.

I want to see that dead-rooster-tail hair first thing in the morning, doling out the mini-cereal boxes (non-organic gasp) to kids that have had a great time being normal and spending time with their parent. Then I want to see her packing everything back in her van to come home while the kids run around like banshees (since they have never really had to pitch in).

Once home, I want to see her unpack, do laundry, and look for ticks in everyone's hair while applying calamine to poison ivy and ice to mosquito bites.

There's real life. No help, no special treatment, no red carpet, no kissing a-- lackeys to do your bidding. Just a nice time with your kids in the real world.

You know what..... never gonna happen, won't even be considered. Trips are for airplane rides, spa days, special events, and luxurious locations full of beautiful people and their help.

I've limped through the last season with it DVR'd (hubby hates that show and prefers me to record it and watch when he's not home) and watch it in secret when the kids aren't awake and hubby's left for work. It's made me feel like I hide a dirty little secret.

NO MORE!

There will be recaps and show discussions all over the internet tomorrow if I decide to be interested in what's shown.

I can't change how they treat their children, it's going to continue long after the cameras leave. What I can do is pray God's protection over them (or what ever diety you believe in) and cut the ties from that show.

Is this camping trip with the boys why we didn't see the boys last week. Jon was only with the girls last week. Why would their be no pictures of the camping trip last week with the boys. We see 18 billion pictures of Jon anytime he does anything. But no pictures of Kate and her fake camping trip with the boys.

maybe Kate was camping in Rockville, Md. at her new condo. I hear the security there is top-notch.

I see Kate is back on the job pimping herself out for her sponsors and TLC. There are pics of her on the usual websites packing up Coleman boxes in her SUV (not very subtle). Are the sheeple dumb enough to think that the show is live and that they are actually going to be camping out tonight?
******
LOL. That would be hilarious if they thought that! I think she is packing it up to get rid of it yet again like the last time they pretend camped??

Just wanted to let TLC know that I am watching the Closer tonight, just as I have every Monday night. It's a great show, with a superb cast and witty dialogue.

Kate claims she doesn't know how to put up a tent or use a camp grill but is determined as a martyr to learn!! HELLO, KATE'S PARENTS OWN A CAMPGROUND!! Fake, Phony, Fraud? You decide....

Funny how the timing of TLC's J & K + 8 return from haitus, the Gosselin children wanting to camp out in the back yard, and Kate's 'Can Do' attitude about putting a tent up all my HERSELF just happen to coincide with the Colemen advertising campaign ! Coinkidink ???

So Kate is renovating the kitchen in her house? That is interesting. I know of a few people that redecorate their homes when a new partner/spouse will be moving in. The idea is too remove all aspects of their old life from the home and look to the future with a new partner/spouse.
I would not be surprised if after the divorce is settled that she moves back into the house full time and someone else also moves in with her. The whole buying a condo nearby sounds fishy to me.
Jon and Kate never do anything unless it can somehow benefit themselves not the children

Tami said...

Also, military families do not get paid very well. So, that means that they have to earn money as well. And Jon, yes, they manage to do it without selling their kids.

You got that right. We are military and my husband is looking for a second job. He's also gone right now on a long trip. So I have no sympathy for this vile shrew.

Oh, poor poor little Kate. How sad that she has to manage the camp out all alone, with new equipment any family would appreciate so very much.

I will never watch TLC again. It is quite easy to do... Tami, all you have to do is think about the child exploitation, the lies, the scamming of church-going people for money, and you will be so sick to your stomach, you will never watch again. Just keep coming to this blog and writing to the sponsors. I am also thinking about my middle-class neighbor who lost his job last week and his six year old Diabetic child that needs insulin. I am also thinking about the single parents out there struggling to make it without big renovations or weekly free trips. These thoughts keep me from watching this disgrace that TLC calls entertaining.

I am not watching tonight. I am preparing items to go in memory boxes I am making for my 2 twentysomething kids. It's something I saw on Oprah last November (her favorite things episode). This time it was things on a budget. I am sorting through Brownie and Cub badges, report cards, school pictures, art work. Great memories...

Speaking of...Camping in your backyard is not camping. We've camped with our kids for 20 years, in tents, pop-up and now a 27 foot trailer we just purchased since my hubby retired (my kids said "now you get the 27 footer, lol). We've had great memories camping. It's a lot of work to prepare, but a lot of fun. I could not see Kate REALLY camping. We've had rained out tents, throwing up in a sleeping bag (first night at Fort Wilderness in Disney World), poison ivy, racoon getting in our cooler. Some of it was a pain in the Xx@@xx at the time, but those are the times we laugh so much about now.

Hey!
That's pretty amazing they claim to film only 2-3 hours a day.

BUTTTT.....the camping episode shows them setting UP the tent, going swimming AND having dinner, taking showers, toasting marshmallows and camping!!!!

All in a matter of two hours????
Hmmmmm.....How does that happen?!

I seriously hope the PA Dept of Labor is watching.......
(she even said it was 7:45PM on the show!!)

People -- these are probably the biggest LIARS in the history of television!!
All to exploit little children.

It's also "kinda funny" that the show has kate setting up the tents in a pair of shorts and top while the paparazzi had shots of her doing it in her little short dress.

Didn't watch. Tuned in only for the commercials to see which corporate villains dared do business with the Gosselins/TLC:

The list of advertisers during the 60 minutes (in my viewing area of the country):

-Gerber Graduates
-State Farm (x2)
-Olay Regenerist (x2)
-Sonic Burger
-Chevy
-Target
-Twizzlers (a Hershey product) (x2)
-Coleman (x2)
-Spray and Wash
-Dove Chocolate
-Walmart
-Tilex
-Verizon
-International Culinary Schools
-Hotel Planner dot com
-Julie and Julia film
-Wii Motion Plus

These companies are complicit in the exploitation of children (with J+K and TLC). I'm sending emails to each company to complain. The only way to kill this show is to pursuade the advertisers that there are negative consequences associated with advertising on
J-K8 and to urge them to spend their marketing dollars elsewhere.

A&E's Intervention was excellent tonight.

I refuse to contribute to the lavish lifestyle that they are enjoying while robbing their children of any semblance of a normal childhood. Come on, folks: Just say NO to J&K!

I have just been so turned off by all the lying and this whole J&K debacle and the child exploitation that only seems to get worse.
And the lying only seems to get worse.
I will not even watch the new shows "Cake Boss" or anything else, just have absolutely no interest whatsoever.
The entire Network turns me off.

And, it's just not entertaining.
Isn't that what we tuned in for at the beginning?
The only people watching now are those who stand and loiter at train wrecks and that's extremely sad, because there will always be those people, and The Lying Channel just does not care.

My husband and I just finished watching the latest catastrophic excuse for an episode of J and K, and I just have a couple questions.

1. Why are you setting up the tents two feet from your back door when you have acres and acres of land that "the children" "need" and "deserve?" Why not set it up further out and actually use that land?

I know! I know! It's because Kate couldn't possibly be too far away from her bathroom, or her hair straightener!

2. Why didn't they just utilize those nifty crooked houses that were built "for the kids?"

I know, I know! It's because Coleman GAVE them all of that camping equipment with the stipulation that we must see at least 20 shots of the logo throughout a half an hour span!

I'm sorry. While camping is something most families can relate to, it is completely unrelatable to most of us to have "CEILING FANS" in our TENTS! Most don't have deluxe air mattresses!

I also LOVE that she put the logs around the fire to "protect" the kids. If anything sparked and fell to the log, it could have set the log on fire, thereby injuring her kid. What a great idea Kate!

I had no problem quitting TLC quite some time ago as I love Intervention & Obsessed on A&E. Real people you can learn from; and they don't call themselves the LEARNING channel!

Me & my "CAN DO" attitude(!!) tore my computer room apart, cleaned and moved my desk and got everything hooked back up while J&K was on and I'm about to go watch the above mentioned shows that I recorded.

I refuse to give TLC/J&K any of my time..it's too important to me.
Good night all..

....I did not watch J&K tonight. I had no intentions of watching, but my mom planned to watch.

Then when she turned on the tv, what came out of her mouth? "Oh, why are they redoing their kitchen, didn't they just get new appliances? Another freebie show, I'm not watching."

This is from the woman who has been watching religiously out of curiosity. I'll be interested in seeing how the ratings go from here on out because surely even the general viewers have to be catching on to this nonsense.

I thought I heard Hannah talking to Kate and saying something along the lines of waking up in the tent the next morning and Kate will be working out. I highly doubt she slept there the entire night.

These kids are adorable, but they're not even a part of the show anymore. It's all about Kate & Jon. The 5 minutes that they were on, it was entertaining. And nice to see them getting better with their speech.

Also -- anyone notice that those poor dogs SHARE a cage? And that I didn't see a single paparazzi on the beach. There are constantly production assistants, cameraman and helpers off-camera now. Even some lady playing with the kids in the pool on vacation while Kate napped on the deckchair.

I watched tonight because I was curious to see how they would show the new episodes but it was so boring that I don't care to watch again. I can't imagine that people will want to watch the Gosselins get freebies every episode, that's just not entertaining. No one wants to see millionaires get free stuff. Both my husband and I bust out laughing when Jon said they had no storage space in their kitchen. Really Jon?

Did anyone notice the timing was off in the beach episode? They said that it was January but they were going to the Outerbanks. They definitely wouldn't be in the Outerbanks in January. It would be freezing.

I'm a single mom who has raised 4 kids on my own after my volunteer firefighter husband died while working a house fire. Kate has no idea what it is like to be a "single" mom with no help from anyone else and only yourself to rely on. I'm actually speechless over this whole debacle...and her "husband"? I used to feel sorry for him but he has proven to be as big a jack a** if not bigger than Kate.

I read an article in a magazine where Jon claimed to have known (whatever her first name is ) Glassman for 7 years.

I'd like to ask..how did he know her for 7 years when Kate only had the tummy tuck maybe 3 years ago...and that's when they met the Glassmans because the wife was a fan of the show and volunteered free plastic surgery to Kate (which as much as I dislike her, she did need)? The lies keep on piling up...in every venue this gruesome twosome show up in.

Two years ago my oldest son came up with a great name for the show....he sensed that something was wrong in this family and he said if Jon and Kate divorced they should name the show Jon minus Kate +8...or Jon - nine. How could you not expect an eventual divorce
especially with the way Kate used to talk to Jon? Now I think she may have been slightly justified seeing his mid life crisis behavior.

Oh yeah, I read in s few other articles that Jon said that, if given the chance to do it over , he never would have had all of those kids....I wonder what's going to happen when the kids come across the articles as they scrounge through old magazines looking for stuff to use for a school project? Or when their classmates shove these articles in their faces.....

Anyone who is boycotting should also boycott Ed Hardy...

Sorry for the long Rant all...

Just read all the posts so far, and I know that I will be going FAR out on a limb here by saying that I really ENJOYED the first episode since the hiatus!

Here's what I liked:
1) I enjoyed Kate trying to make a fire

2) I enjoyed seeing the interaction between the children

3) I was happy to see that the bibs apparently are a thing of the past!

4) I enjoyed FINALLY seeing the kids in their own pool

5) I liked that Kate is easing up on the mess-phobia and is also allowing the children to do more for themselves

6)I enjoyed seeing how many words Kate added "ish" to throughout the episodes

7) I laughed when Kate said the kitchen was "for the kids" and that Jon said that the kids WANTED a new kitchen

8) I LOVED when Kate actually admitted that the under-the-counter refrigerators were a good idea and said Jon must really be from THIS planet

9) I enjoyed watching Kate have to WORK for a change

10) I LOVED hearing the children's voices instead of all KATE'S voice

11) I LOVED it when Kate said, "Would you please get rid of those flowers?" to Jon in a calm voice instead of screaming at him.

12)I was glad to see that Kate admitted that she really wasn't doing this all alone at the camping and at the beach

13)I was very happy to see that the children DID seem happier. There were more smiles, fewer tears, and they just seemed less stressed

14) I was proud of Kate, who has often said she's NOT an outdoor girl!)for sleeping outside in a tent. For Kate that was a big deal.

15) I really enjoyed seeing a more humble Kate--even if she was acting the part, I enjoyed seeing her REALIZE and ACT and RECOGNIZE what humble might look like

If I think of other things, I will add them.

I AM glad that I watched the new episodes!

Speaking of camping, I returned a few days ago from camping in beautiful Carmel, CA with my 61 y/o mother and 18 month old daughter. My husband had to work so he was unable to join us. I was raised by my mom and am an only child. I never felt like there wasn't anything we couldn't do. If she had financial troubles I never knew. Life went on as normal. Now that I have a daughter if my own, I want her to experience life as I did and have her own memories to maybe share with her kids someday. I wonder if the Gosselin kids will ever think of their experiences and want to recreate them for their own kids.
On another note, of course the show has been scripted! Do you think they could have showed up at all the venues they've been to with the crew and not have had it all pre-arranged? That means someone, be it J&k or tlc planned out these kids lives for the whole season. So much for "our life is not thought of as episodes."

There, is genuine love."

--------------------

KISSy, I really admire you. Your kids are lucky.

When my dad died last year, in his ninth decade of life, I had to write his obituary. It was so easy, because there were so many wonderful things to say about him...mostly that he died with few regrets because he really never did much of anything wrong. He was generous and kind, selfless and honorable...no saint (he had a temper tamed with age) but a decent person from the inside out. He was far from a rich man in dollars, but he had a wealth of good memories, a legacy of good deeds and a family who adored him.

I feel like alot of the other people writing on this blog...everything seems to be staged or set up by the producers....does everything Kate do with the children have to be a big production? I am also one that hates that everything they get is given to them....the new kitchen, the crooked houses, the vacations....it gets really annoying!
But, I will be tuning in next week....I don't know why.

Some MORE things I liked about the episode:

1) Mady and Cara saying that Kate did a bad job on the fire

2) Mady and Cara saying that Kate wouldn't be a good one to take out in nature

3) I was impressed with the amount of time Kate actually spent WITH the children. This is more than we have ever seen on camera before.

4) The children seem to be speaking clearer and expressing themselves better. (Maybe it's just that they are talking more or Kate is talking less.)

5) Kate seems less stressed out

6) I absolutely was THRILLED not to hear Kate putting Jon down over and over like she did for WAY too long

7) It was good to hear that the kids missed Daddy and wished he was there with them

8) Good to hear Kate thank (was it Collin?) for carrying the lanterns to the campsite

I just FINALLY got the feeling that MAYBE, just MAYBE the kids WERE going to be OK.

Haven't felt this hopeful for the kids in a long time!

If anyone watched tonight and was "Happy" they did, I have a few things to say. I don't CARE how nicely Kate seemed to relate to her children, what she CANNOT do is get them the heck off tv. Next, she can PRETEND to be nicer and less uptight, what?...ITS ALL AN ACT. You are getting caught up in the hype, DO NOT LET THAT HAPPEN. Its TLC's way of dragging the audience in, sucking them in.
They can show Kate's 'new attitude' as much as they want, It doesn't work, its too little, too late. She drove out her husband, her kids have NO father raising them day to day, and all of a sudden she's nice now. Comeon folks, she it for what it is. Child exploitation.

Kate said after the messy s'mores eating, she took the kids inside to shower before they went back out to sleep. Also, a helper was supposed to sleep with the twins, but they said no, so the helper got to sleep in the house.

On the other blog - I pointed out that the younger kids had a camera in their tent even when they went to sleep.

The younger girls also were exploited/interviewed on the couch.

Kate had more doozy words in both episodes. Where does she get off telling Jon that he can't speak properly?

Hopefully the ratings will be tanked.
Can't see anything interesting anymore. In the beginning - kids were
darling but have since for some reason grown. They will have tough
days on the playgrounds.
Thanks for the recaps.

I was just reading on radar online and they say that Kate took the boys camping last week and she promised the girls that she would take them camping next. If she's taking the girls camping why ship the camping equipement. Most people go camping by packing up there vehicle and driving to a camp ground. Most people don't ship the gear.

On one rag site we see the Coleman boxes and the cooler going in, on another I saw some non descipt boxes with what looked like UPS/Fedex type labels on them. She either shipped everything and didn't take girls camping, or she only shipped the other boxes and then took the rest of the stuff camping. The taking the boys and then girls things sounds right though because the boys were MIA.
