I thought they went green with Sara Snow? Oh yeah, that wasn't good enough because Sara didn't give them free solar panels. What a joke. The Gosselins going green is never going to really happen. Kate can't give up her paper plates. And is having eight children to start with really green? I think not. What a joke.

WOW, THOSE UTILITY BILLS ARE A BITCH AT THE NEW PAD, HUH?

Time to go GREEN (FOR FREE) and save some green.

Can't wait.....

ruthy said...

Let's see how long this lasts! There is no way these two could or will stick to any type of recycling program!

Liesl said...

Oh please. Next thing you know, they'll be telling us how they're only going to keep the pool heater set at 75 next summer, and that they're hooking up a turbine to Kate's treadmill to recapture the electricity she burns running all those hours.

Oh great, more stuff they'll get for free.

Yawn... I won't be watching. Sounds boring already. :)

I thought this show was suppose to be about a family with eight children and showing how they struggle to provide for them by budgeting, using coupons, etc.

Now we have an episode of them having expensive solar panels installed on their million dollar home.

Of course, according to them God is leading them to make the decisions they do. So, I guess I shouldn't blame them. Apparently, God ordered the solar panels--

and the trip to Hawaii
and the trip to Utah
and the trip to N. Carolina
and the Whirlpool appliances
and the 2 dogs

well, you know what I mean.

Hmm..what's so "green" about the Gosselins?

-huge brood in an already overpopulated world

-gas guzzling van

-wasting jet fuel flying across the country several times

-using 45 paper plates a day

-going through 3 rolls of paper towels a day

-never seen them recycle any products in a separate waste bin

-tons of lights on in the home constantly

Yes, Kate, I'll be taking hints from you. GAG.

Another INFOMERCIAL - this time for solar panels!! The KON Show is SO FAR out there it is totally unrelatable! Just another freebie for her royal bitchness!!!

Kasey said...

when does it air? so is season 5 official now?

Kasey said...

this is the easy way out. Sara Snow gave them suggestions for how to be eco friendly... yes. But they were things that they actually had to DO. they had to recycle, they had to turn off lights...

Now theyre getting lights and magic solar panels, etc that save energy on their own. Kate just gets to stand and watch and act like she's this hip wordly earthy person who gives a hoot...

Its A Good Thing said...

Regardless of how I feel about Jon and Kate and their show I am glad they are at least attempting to go green. I think being more aware of the environment is a good thing. I wont be watching the episode but Im sure many will and who knows maybe they will take away something good.

3ts said...

The rest of us would go greener too if we had the money (or corporate sponsors) to do so. I wonder if they will continue with the tight shots of the mini-mansion to fool the viewers?
Are they "recycling" episodes that were shot during season 4 and calling it season 5? The G's are all about the drama, greed and lies. Every episode seems to revolve about the family being paid to receive goods and services.
TLC should do a show with a poverty level (or low middle class) regular size family struggling to make it. Maybe they could include stretching the grocery bill out of bare funds, whittling down debt, how-to winterize the house, looking for a better job (or finding one) in this economy, etc. -something millions of families and young people could learn and benefit from. Maybe TLC could get back to being "The LEARNING Channel"

Roryz said...

The only green Jon and Kate really care about is in their wallets.
I agree with Misty's point that this was supposed to be a show about a family struggling with the realities of raising young multiples. It's gone so far off course, the show no longer resembles its original premise.
This is reinforced by TLC's airing repeats of past shows. One can see how far off course they've gone. Sad, really.

jen said...

At least they are doing something. I changed all the bulbs in my little 2 bedroom condo and cut my electric bill in half. Of course, I doubt they pay their bills.

A better way for them to go green is to make less waste. How come we never ever see them with real dishes? The only thing not disposable is the kids sippy cups. Very strange. Even the silverware is plastic.

pinkdiamond611 said...

They are not "attempting" to go green. This is just one informercial for the products being presented. btw, wasn't Steve Thomas the host of "This Old House"? at one time. He must be pushing his new show. Is his show on new show on TLC?

I wonder how much TLC paid for the industrial studio lighting they had in their E-town home. A LOT, I would guess. How energy conscious is THAT? Not! And we never see any room in the new house except for the kitchen and dining room. I wonder if they put industrial lighting in there. But then, the new shows are not based in the house - it's always KON going hither, thither, and yon. They are MORONS!

Sally said...

Going green...ha! What about the Hummer Jon bought. How green is that? Solar panels are expensive. I know, we put them on our house 10 years ago. How green are two washer/dryers, a dishwasher, paper plates. Fake all fake....except, of course the green money they get. Oh now I get it, going green as in money.

AnneMarie said...

Solar panels work so well up there too. Winter is such a sunny place in PA.

They would have been better off going geothermal. Just sayin.

Stacey said...

I agree that Jon and Kate's attempts at 'going green' - or at least what we've seen in the promos - are a little odd, redundant even, at least someone involved with that show has got their head in the right place. I've never understood the disposable plates thing (doesn't that get costly after a while?. There are so many little things - common sense things - that this family could do to 'go green'.

Kind of off-topic (I'm a first time poster, long time reader, so please forgive me!), but does Kate look like she's had work done? I was watching an episode this morning from a couple of years ago and then the commercial for the 'green' episode came on and she looked soooooo different. Perhaps its the tanning or the haughty look she's got all the time now, but she does not look her age at all.

RealMom said...

It should say "Greed" instead of "Green"

Ann said...

The old house the G's selling is listed as geothermal on the real estate site. I was surprised to see that since with all the paper plates and paper towels I never thought of the family as been eco-friendly. I agree it would be much wiser in PA to have geothermal over solar panels.

I wonder if they will edit out dinner time for a few shows to make the average viewer forget about the paper watse.

LuvAlwyzK said...

So couldn't they go green without having to pay someone to show them how to?! Stop using a million paper products each day...set up recycling bins...turn off the lights when you leave a room...unplug what you can...wow it's not rocket science really....

homeschoolin' mom said...

Now that y'all have brought it up, what does she need paper plates for? Gosh, how hard is it to clean the crumbs off the plate from "snack/lunch"? I've got two kids, I just hold the dish under the water, swipe swipe with a sponge, rinse and air dry in the rack. Voila- the dishes are dry by dinner and we do it all again.

How horrendously horrendous!

Actually, I've heard from solar companies that you can finance the panels for less than your current electricity bill..... but I don't think that is what KON is doing.

lindahoyt said...

Right, it is all about the Gosselins saving money on utility bills! They get free solar panels and such, and their bills will go down.

lindahoyt said...

Yes 3ts...we would love to go green, if only we could afford the solar panels and a windmill. I would love to turn the animal poo on our farm into electricity...but, could never afford it.

If the lawmakers wanted to make a difference, instead of taking over the car companies, the banks and turning us into a communist nation; they should subsidize that very thing. Make the panels affordable; change the building codes and make solar panels required on every house, then the cost could be absorbed into the mortgage. Have every panel connected to the grid, so that the energy goes back into the grid...and then we are on our way to being clean energy independent.

lindahoyt said...

At least the paper plates are biodegradable....it is all the plastic that they use and throw away that bothers me. The yogurt cups by the dozen, straight into the garbage bin!

I notice that they use plastic plates now. They use tons of straws in the plastic sippy cups..she has plastic bins all over everywhere. Plastic is going to be around for thousands of years!

It would be great if they would advertise the fact that plastic bags can be biodegradable. Why not just use them for garbage bags? We all would, if they were widely avalible, wouldn't we?

Teryn said...

Lest not forget Kate's water bottles. She used to have stacks of cases of bottled water in her old garage in E-Town. Is she going to give those up and drink tap?

Probably not.

Inspired by the Gosselins efforts to be environmentally responsible, I've decided to save energy by leaving my television OFF whenever their show airs.

This is just a gimmick for them to make more money. They will do anything to be in the spotlight and for more money making opportunities (book deal!) If she wants to go green, Hate can stop dying her hair, for one. The bonus would be she would at least be partially rid of that heinous do. Then, instead of continuing to consume products at such an outrageous rate, they can say NO to some of those freebies, especially the ones they are going to just throw away like things they get at ball games, little trinkets, etc. Hate can let the kids wear clothes more than once..

********
They might biodegrade but they waste trees and energy to make them in factories. She definitely needs to start washing dishes. The nanny or Mady and Cara could do, or Jon, because we know it would exhaust her too much. They need to have a large tub of yogurt to serve to the kids in individual servings. I have a smaller family than that and buy one just because it is so much cheaper that way.

Harriet said...

Kate has not been as thrifty as she'd have as believe since day one. Remember all those individual packets of instant oatmeal she used to feed the tups?

Bottled water... no way, get 1 refillable container and fill it up from your tap. Not only will you save lots of money but you won't be sold a bunch of crap marketing from major corporations how it came from this spring or the next. We have a plant like that near us that distributes a certain brand associated with a very popular cola company, funny , most people around here know that they get their water from a municipal source. (Summertime, you could freeze some water in the bottem half of the container, then refill in the morning with fresh from the tap. Ice cold all day long, and free). There seems to be a lot of knowledge here and if anyone else has any earth friendly, money saving ideas, please let us know. won't be relying on TLC for that.

RealMom said...

Propaganda like this just keeps them more in the public eye. It makes the Gosselin family look legit, not at all like the money-grubbing slugs we all know them to be. This is a brilliant PR move to make Kate more commercial and now she will proably become a "Green" (Greed) spokesperson showing up on more and more TV shows, etc. I will not be watching.

Uh, I'm going to be the rogue here and admit we buy bottled water for drinking. (In jugs, not often in the little bottles.)

We have a well, and unless you test your well every year or even twice a year, you can't be sure you're not getting e coli. We shock the well with bleach, as you're supposed to, but you can't do that more than maybe once a year. Plus the bacteria can build up before you're aware of it, and you get sick. With little kids, I don't take the chances.

We use the well water for baths and washing laundry and dishes, and for cooking because we boil it then. But straight out of the tap? Even with a Pur filter, I wouldn't be okay with that.

So on the bottled water, I'm willing to give them a pass. I use it and if i snarked at them for it I'd be a hypocrite. Maybe they are on a well. Maybe they don't like the chlorine in the municipal water. Whatever.

But the paper plates are ridiculous. I have three kids and have used paper plates about four times in 9 years--once for three days when the power was out during a hurricane, and the other times on picnics.

Aren't you insulted by how stupid they and TLC think we are? Grrrr.

I wish I could afford solar panels for my house. We looked into it a few years ago, but they're so expensive, and in a fixer-upper, I have other things that $20K needs to go to. If we're still here in a few years (and if it turns out our roof can support the weight; we didn't get that far into it), we're going to do it.

Chaps my ass that they're likely getting them free of charge, given how environmentally friendly they are in all other areas. :/

Please, please, please don't watch guys! They cannot stand to be out of the spotlight and this is just another way to keep people talking about them. Catch in during a rerun later in the week if you MUST watch them get solar panels, but don't give this show the ratings. Even if you're not a Nielsen viewer, they still can track it from your DVR box or satellite/cable company.

Samcarter,

I have a well with ecoli in it also. I'm with you on the bottled water. We have a 5 gal delivery system and my father fills jugs at his house for us. Every once in awhile (sports season) I'll purchase a case of water that will last the kids the entire season. I have tons of refilable bottles, but my kids seem to think nothing of leaving them places or half full in the car, under the seat, under their bed.....

Oh, oh, I have one.
Last September I bought one of those huge packs of paper towels from Costco (around $14, I think). Then, I bought a $4 pack of 7 white utility towels from Walmart. I use the utility towels to wipe off the counter tops and wash them often. Just by using cloth towels instead of paper towels, I am not even half way through the paper towels I bought at Costco in September! I'm not spreading germs because I use a disinfectant, and I use the towel in one area at a time, and wash it right away with bleach.
I'm saving the trees and saving the green! ($$$, that is)

Speaking of going green and Sara Snow. It was so silly when she showed them how to label recycling containers. They sprayed "black-board spray" on a plastic container so that they could write the word "cans" on it with chalk.

I have an idea!

Not as good as Sara Snows maybe, but why not just use a Magic Marker and write the word "cans" right on the container and skip the "black-board paint" all together!

Hmm ... I'll bet lots of us have gone that route!

wtf are they doing back so soon anyhow? We haven't even had a whole month of no new episodes.

Is this the start of another season, already??? Jeez! Give a girl a break.

Now let me see...should I watch Jon bobsled or watch "Legends of the Fall" again? Not too hard to choose there.

I am so sick of this show. They don't give those kids a break at all do they? Just keep those little moneymakers working, right?

Anonymomma said...

We have a water cooler, with the big jugs of water. My family of seven plus the stepkids when they are here (and company) uses one jug every 8 days or so. We buy them at a local distributor and it's 10.00 but with each return you get 6.00 back so it's technically 4.00. I wouldn't have gone this route except for the fact that my MIL rennovated her kitchen and bought the cooler with the rest of her appliances. Turns out, she only ever used it like 3 times in a year. So she offered it and I accepted. It gets my kids to drink water so I'll take it lol.

Funny thing though, my daughter has a milk allergy so at school, she drinks bottled water with her lunch. She brings home the bottles every day for recycling, even though our township doesn't have a program. But, one county away where my BIL lives does have one. So we collect the bottles and soda cans my hubby drinks and take them there once a month or so.

Maybe I'm being a real bitch about this but, we run our dishwasher 1 time a day (2 if it's a holiday and we have guests). We have a big family. However, I think it saves more water to wash the dishes by hand at least some of the time (and saves some energy). It also sets a good example for the kids. They help me and they love it (except putting them away lol).

Those chewies K8 lets the kids snack on all day? They're cloth diapers. I used the same ones for my kids as burp clothes, and 'recycled' them as kitchen towels. I also do use old mismatched socks as dust rags, things like that.

I don't do it to be 'green'. I do it to save money. And that's the reason why I call BS on these two clowns. 90% of the people I know who make efforts to be more environmentally friendly do so because it saves them money (not only for that reason but you get my drift). There is no way I'm gonna believe a family who drives a diesle fueled 15 passenger van to take 2 kids to an eye doctor twenty minutes from their home has any honest intention of saving or preserving our planet.

Sorry for the rant lol. I haven't been on here in a few days. I missed you guys!
PS - At the grocery store two days ago, my 8 year old picked out the 'green' paper towels. An 8 year old. And she already knows and does more than those two putz's.

I just saw the Going Green previews and it looks like another Kate and Kate Plus Kate show. I didn't see the children at all. I really liked seeing that big wad of something (chewing gum!!!) Kate was smacking on in the preview. What a classy broad! It's almost as though TLC goes out of their way to make her (let her) look totally crass; i.e., coarse and unrefined. Toby Keith had an album out a few years ago that should have been dedicated to her. It was called White Trash With Money. They are no more green than the imaginary mold Kate found on the old refrigerator.

Energy efficient light bulbs and solar panels...that's it? Now that they have solved our global warming problem and have been absolved of all of their non-eco friendly sins, let's look at how green they really are. Ummmmmm...8 kids, Sprinter, McMansion, paper plates, travel (the carbon footprint for all of K8's 'speaking' engagements, trips to LA, plus family trips has to be enormous), hair bleach, brand new Gymboree outfits (at least the Duggars buy recycled), trips to Ann Taylor, electricity/battery power, camera, staff, vans,etc...used by TLC in order to create, film, edit and produce this asinine show, water and cleaning products to do all of her OCD cleaning, plastic for the queen's white chair, bibs and sippy cups (visions of tons of diapers are now going through my head), plastic gloves, etc...
What I'd love to see...K8 canning organic fruits and vegetables, composting, xeroscape, hybrid, recyling clothes (hee-hee), sewing using only organically grown cotton (I am really tickled now), buying previously used furniture, and a full-out family recycling program.

IMO, this is not going to work in real life. They consume too much energy to make this be a really worth while episode. Now if Kon got geothermal, solar panels, a wind turbine, special toilets, and etc..then that would make more of an impact on their horrendously horrendous carbon footprint. I would so LOVE to be able to go off the grid. That would be a show to watch! Have them live like Les Stroud and his family in the woods.

(this is part one if you are interested. There are 7 parts on Youtube)
Imagine if you will. Jon and Kate plus 8 living Off the grid in the back woods. Totally dependent on their own resources for small luxuries like a light bulb in the bathroom. What do you think Kate`s hair would look like then? Do you think the limo will get stuck in the mud while she tries to escape?

Anna said...

Jacelynn,

I don't think the kids are in any PHYSICAL danger either (expect possibly wandering off on their huge new property, but that's a separate issue). The PSYCHOLOGICAL damage that they are suffering is a completely different story. Their most private moments are on stage (and on youtube) for all to see, and those cute little kids will one day be adults. Imagine going into a job interview knowing that someone watched you poop as a two year old.

And it is unethical for J&K to depend entirely on their five year olds for their income. Their book deals and speaking arrangements (during which they still pretend that they are suffering financially) would not be possible without the kids. I would feel slightly better if I knew that the money made by those kids was being preserved for them in accounts that their parents can't touch, but I think the odds of that are pretty low.

The show was cute at first, but it crossed the boundary into inappropriateness time and time again. It has gone on too long and revealed too much about the tups and twins' private lives. Yet their parents are willing to go on exploiting the children even after it is clear that they have enough money to live reasonably for many years to come if they still had the lifestyle of an average family.

interesting someone mentioned geothermal because when I read the listing of their old house it was mentioned that there was a geothermal heating system there. So why not do the same?

This episode was clearly planned before the financial crisis. I read an article about how "saving the environment" is a cause that's only truly affordable. While I certainly admire the cause, I personally think that having a segment on being thrifty would be far more appropriate and timely.

Anonymomma,it actually saves more energy and water (not to mention soap) if you use the dishwasher. There is some info about that at this site: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2005/08/dishwasher_vs_h.php

When I went shopping for a dishwasher a few years ago I researched the difference in cost between the machine and hand washing. I was thrilled when I found out I could use the dishwasher guilt free.

There's a lot of other interesting info on that site too in case anyone is interested.

meant to say that "going green" is only a luxury affordable to the wealthy who have extra money to buy up solar panels/convert to a tankless water heater/buy a hybrid car. Most families these days doin't have the extra cash laying around to "go green" at the drop of a hat. they have to rely on more common sense things like changing lightbulbs (which isn't even all that green considering the mercury content of the new bulbs), recycling, reusing, reducing. . .

samcarter said...

Wait, they're just NOW getting the compact fluorescent lightbulbs? Have they been living under a rock? We've been using those for nearly five years now. We have them in almost every light fixture in the house. Geez, Kon, get with it.

Kate seems like an "all or nothing" person. "I'll go green, when I can afford (read: get free) solar panels, when I can afford (get free) the compact fluorescents for the ENTIRE house, not just one fixture..."

Even one tiny change, made each week or month, can add up. She can start by ditching the paper plates.

Someone mentioned Ed Begley. Now THERE is a man who knows what it truly mean to go green. What was his show called and what channel did it air on? I never see it advertised anymore and I don't get a TV guide. I would like to watch it if it is still on.

.....................

Ed Begley Jr.'s show is called "Living With" Ed. The show originally aired on HGTV in 2007. They now show repeats of it on the Planet Green channel. You can get the schedule for it here:

Anna, Im not sure the kids are in any psychological danger. They may be I don't think anybody can accurately diagnose the Gosselin kids as psychologically damaged from 1 half hour show once a week.

***********************************
Ummmmmm....that would be 100 half hour episodes plus being paraded around Hershey, Lego Land...plus add in the specials for TLC, appearances on other talk shows. It is damaging because it is exploitation (look it up - it is against their will because they were never ASKED. Kate lways said it would stop when they didn't want to do it...even Jon didn't want to do it and guess what? Season 5). Please tell me how it is not damaging - the stress alone of raising kids without cameras can be overwhelming, with the addition of cameras and crew is just short of insanity.

Jon and Kate are not relying on their kids for income.
**********************************

You mean to tell me they were this well off before they paraded the kids in front of the camera less than 5 seasons ago? They have their income BECAUSE of the kids. That's why it is called Jon and Kate plus 8. Not, Jon and Kate.

Once the show is off the air I can promise you we will see more of Kate.
***********************************

How can you promise this? What gives you this kind of power? Please don't keep this promise, please. She has nothing to offer anyone.

Your right, without the kids it wouldn't be possible, so would it be OK for Kate to write the books and do the speaking engagements if they didn't have the show?
***********************************

Write books? I would give anything to read something SHE ALONE has written. An essay on the effects of global warming...her political views...reflections on the psychological effects that childhood exploitation can have and the repercussions that will occur in later years...a grocery list.

Please. Her speaking engagements consist of the same old speech. What benefit is this to anyone?

And how does the show differ from the others?
***********************************

I love deflection. We are talking about this show (that's why it is called GWOP) not any of 'the others'. Nice try.

Have you been to a recent speaking engagement?
***********************************

What does this have to do with anything? Seeing her 'speak' will make all of the difference? Will it bring greater understanding and answer the question 'why'? Will it put an end to exploiting her children?

I don't think they claim to be suffering financially anymore.... Once again, we have NO IDEA if if money is being saved for the children or not, its pure speculation that its not, especially since Jon and Kate have both said that because of the show they will be able to go to college or university.....hmmm that makes me think they are saving money...... I don't think their life style isn't of the average family, they have money, they have a nice house, so what?
************************************

You're kidding, right? 'So what?' That's your rebuttal? Let's see, how did they get that money?????? Not from her nursing job or Jon's IT job. I know, it came from exploiting their kids. Please don't start with the jealousy angle. It is old and over used. Bottom line, they used their kids for their own gains. Period.

Others do to, its not like the Gosselin's are the only people ever to take a hard situation and turn it into something good, something the family can benefit from.
***********************************

This is not about 'other people' - dang, you do like to deflect. What is it that they turned into good? A bank account? I am having a very difficult time seeing the good as well as the benefit. Who is going to benefit? The kids? Because they have a college fund? If you say, the family. I will say, at what cost to the kids?

By the way, most people usually take a 'hard situation and turn it into something good' by using something called a work ETHIC. (ref: Work ethic is a set of values based on hard work and diligence. It is also a belief in the moral benefit of work and its ability to enhance character)
No mention about using your kids in order to make gains for yourself.

Saying this family is green is like saying Al Gore's green. A little less conversation/little more action is what I'd like to see!

Putting solar panels on your McMansion does not make you green. Instead, go back to your old (still big by most standards) home and maybe teach your kids what corn is.

"Once the show is off the air I can promise you we will see more of Kate."

I disagree. IMO, the most influential reason why Kate is so willing to continue with their reality tv show is because it is the one and only reason why her face and name is even of a remote interest. All one has to do is observe the progression of the reality show to realize that Kate is utlizing the reality show as a self serving cross promotion to further her own agenda. If Kate felt so secure in her 'career' in the absence of a reality tv show, she wouldnt be so desperately promoting herself in Nadya Sulemans media sloppy seconds.

itcouldhappen said...

Jacelynn -
If Jon & Kate want to have careers as authors, motivational speakers, talk show hosts, whatever, no one would have a problem with it if it didn't involve the kids. Let's see Kate put out a book that doesn't have the kids faces in it or give a speech that doesn't rely on their worn-out old story we've all heard ad nauseum.
Why do you think she had to drag the kids along to those media interviews she did about Octomom? What purpose did the kids serve being there - they certainly didn't contribute any expertise to the conversation (neither did Kate). The bottom line is that without those kids being trotted out for Kate's dog and pony act, they wouldn't have half the appearances they have now. If they can carve out adult careers without involving their kids, good for them. My bet is they can't and won't.

Have you watched any of the many "you tube" videos of the kids? I'm talking about the ones personally made by anyone out there with the know-how to make and upload a video for anyone to see. Most of them are of the kids, maybe just Hannah, or just Joel, or just the girls, or just the boys, all put together by total strangers (fans) of the show.

If these innocent children were mine, I would be freaked out. The number of videos on "you tube" is staggering, with personal messages, music and graphics, etc.

Remember, they are CHILDREN, and it bothers me that their pictures are used in this way, without any permission, from them or their "parents" Jon and Kate, who probably think it is just fine that these total strangers are spending time making all of these videos of their children.

Maybe you see this as a good thing for the family, I see it as a result of the show and exploiting children to keep a fan base, thus keep the gravy train going.

The Gosselins are latecomers to the going-green thing.

Ed Begley, Jr. went green in the 70's. One of the local news anchors here went green about a dozen years ago, but it wasn't until last year that her efforts were reported on. Architects have been designing green buildings for the past few years.

The Gosselins going green is just a me-too effort. They don't have any real reasons for going green; to them, it just seems like the in-thing to do. News of them going green will probably be greeted by one of two reactions: "So?" and "Who?"

2badsosad said...

I too, find it EXTREMELY disturbing any adult that takes 'ownership' of a child, celebrity child or not' for the purpose of creating an INTERNET fan page expressing their devotion and admiration for said child(ren). The Gosselin CHILDREN are NOT fictional sitcom 'characters' but are REAL human beings, minor children at that, and should not be the subject of an adult's delusional fantasy or admiration.

I wonder when after they got their first electric or gas bill they decided to pimp for the solar panels? No doubt in my mind. The infomercials and cross-over TV shows is very similar to what Martha Stewart did. Maybe Kate wants to be just like Martha (who got greedy and did jail time plus her husband divorced her). Yeah, I can see Kate being just like Martha.

But, I guess when you are NOT actually PAYING for the panels its a different story! I'd loved to find out what the panels are actually generating energy for? Probably just to heat the pool!

Bill, Ed, Emeril and Steve Thomas all have shows on the Planet Green channel. I think TPTB at Discovery were the brains behind JK8 "going green." They're getting double duty out of this episode because it's going to be shown on PG this week as a part of their Earth week programming. (They've been running promos for it.) Ed's show came from HGTV and was cancelled after the 2nd season, PG is just showing the repeats. Otherwise they could have him show Kate how to change the lightbulbs.

I haven't watched JK8 since last summer and don't really watch TLC anymore. Planet Green is my new favorite channel and I'm annoyed that I can't even watch that in peace without having the two of them forced on me.

Approximately 22 minutes in they show the kids at the table, eating on paper plates with plastic cups of some sort on the plate (probably individual applesauce or fruit containers) and what looked like plastic silverware. THIS, while the workers are out side making their house more environmentally friendly. Nice.

TLC: really? I mean, seriously?? Come on.

Pardon my french, but Kate is absolute p***ing me off with her attitude. Ungrateful wench sits there and moans and groans the entire time and can't show a shred of gratitude for all of the free things she is given. Seriously, it makes me nauseous to watch her.

And for the love of all things holy, if she does not stop yanking on her freaking ear I'll make my way to PA to yank her earring clear through the ear for her and help her bypass the slow process of stretching out her holes. Oh, wait, I'd be better off going to CA to find her, seeing as how she is home so infrequently that she has to mention it in her v-day cards to her kids ("wherever you are, wherever I am"). Lordy be...what a pathetic excuse for a human being.

Anonymous said...

And Kate still fed the kids lunch on paper plates...so how are the Gosselins going green? Oh, just by accepting donations of free solar panels and light bulbs. If they cared about going green they would have made an effort to change their lifestyle and learn how to wash a dish.

By the way, how safe is it to have the children running around outside when all the work is getting done?

gasmom said...

This episode supposedly occurred on Valentine's Day. Kate and the kids enjoy heart-shaped food and cards while Jon is working with Steve Thomas and crew outside. But wasn't it already established that Valentine's Day was (one of the occasions) when Jon was partying while "helping his mom" out-of-town? If so, was this an "early" Valentine's day celebration, a la the Gosselin's "Christmas" celebration, which wasn't really on Christmas?

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Also, can Kate complain any more about people who are working for her? She acts like she's doing them a massive favor by letting them work on her roof. And can she say any more times that she essentially doesn't care about the earth, but is worried about the savings in their electrical bills? One word, two syllables: be-yotch.

I remember in a past episode, before Aunt Jodi was banished, when Kate said something like, "I can cook, but Aunt Jodi, she can bake. That's her thing". And now, Kate suddenly loves to bake?? Maybe it has something to do with her cookbook coming out. And did anyone else notice those bright new fangs?? Looks like she got a new set of pearly white porcelin veneers!! Hope she enjoys it while it lasts.

as someone with a very sarcastic/dry sense of humor, that was not what kate was showing tonight. she may have been taken wrongly in the past when using sarcasm and humor, and although that guy was kind of annoying, tonight she was just plain RUDE. there is no excuse for that.

I too was surprised at how many parts of the episode were left in and not edited out. And I enjoyed the slight slap on Kate's face when the guy explained the tax cut stuff, and she told him all of that would probably be edited out. Perhaps there was more that WAS edited out, but her being shown saying that at least shows there was something that she thought wouldn't air.

I love the guy (Steve?) for getting Kate's beetchy attitude and not laying down to her crap. I loved how he poked back, and it'd be great if he did make fun of her, per Kate's permission. He wont, as he's not dumb enough to stoop down to her miserably low level, but yea, good man.

Kate was 423432413x as bad tonight. What an ungrateful wench! And I guess she has to start baking and promoting her fascination for baking since she has teh recipe book coming out, eh? I mean, lets just forget that she had admitted before that Jodi was the baker and not herself.

I also noticed the kids and their vocab, and I dunno much about child development, but it seems like they aren't mature at all, in reference to their speech and language skills. I love the kids though, they're great, I just hope they have a great future :)

Right after it passed the garage and toward the house, the camera immediately panned downward towards the kids. It was obvious that they avoided showing the house.

"By the way, how safe is it to have the children running around outside when all the work is getting done?"

I too, was very disturbed at the blatant disregard for the safety of Gosselin children as they were ALLOWED to be around, near, and under foot of the labor/installation crew. 'Reality tv' or not, the first priority of ANY contractor SHOULD be protecting the physical safety of the homeowner (including children) and that of his/her own employees!! What contractor in his/her right mind would blatantly disregard the risk of liability in exchange for free advertising on a reality tv show! Kate feeding the crew cookies and Jon hamming it up with the installers makes for good reality 'entertainment' but allowing small children to be in, around and under foot of a 'construction' environment with heavy duty equipment is not only unsafe, but a completely irresponsible decision on all parties involved ie, parents, the contractor, the work crew, TLC, TLC camera and production!! If this same installation crew were to be working at any other job site, without a doubt they would be working within strict safety protocol guidelines!! IMO, this episode was a prime example of the necessity for PA child labor laws specifically as it relates to minors and reality tv! My husband is a contruction contractor and to think that his employees cannot even so much as toss a tape measure or tool to another employee as the act runs the risk of personal injury. All the while the Gosselin children are seen 'playing' in, around, among, and underfoot of a potentionally dangerous work site sans wearing a hard hat or safety gear!!

I would replace my bulbs with those if I could afford the $120 per bulb. Let's see, I would need about 30 bulbs X 120= only $3,600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the first new episode of the show I've watched in awhile. To see the difference, even just from the Hawaii episode to now (which was rerun right before the green episode) makes me sad. Kate is such an unhappy, ungrateful person and it's so obvious Jon and Kate's marriage is in some serious trouble. I couldn't help but pick up on the number of times Kate happily said "and they played outside all day." She obviously does not want to spend any time with her kids anymore. Maybe she never did and just isn't hiding it now. But to take joy in thinking that your kids will be outside playing ALL DAY while you staying inside ALL DAY is terrible. And she said she just can't wait until summer when it's warmer and they can play outside all day EVERY day. Ugh. I've known several mothers like her unfortunately. They are the ones who can't wait to send their kids back to school at the end of summer, who dread winter and spring breaks and who pray that their kids go away to college. While they may love their kids, they don't like them.

The Valentine's Day "charade".

Kate was wearing a different shirt during this Valentine's Day scene, than she was wearing when she was outside with the construction. I didn't pay attention to what the kids had on, though.

I wonder if they inserted this edited scene into this episode, to try to kill rumors Jon was gone partying on V-Day. My bet is he was gone and this Valentine's Day thing was stuck in for rumor control. One of the kids said something about "saving" daddy's present for him. Why would they say that if he was right outside?

I've watched the show from the very episode, when it was real (or at least I thought it was real) and everyone, even grouchy Kate, was adorable.
I noticed Jon and Kate starting to change in the second season. They were becoming very "media savvy" and the show was starting to look contrived. I confess that I still watch J&K, but I think the whole thing is a sham.
Kate portrays herself as a pull no punches, honest person. If she's so forthcoming, why doesn't she address the absence of Beth, Nana Janet, Aunt Jodi, Uncle Kevin, etc. Does she have no respect for her audience at all? No answer needed.
Here's a question maybe someone out there can answer for me: when did Jon become the "middle" child in his family? I thought he was an only child who was spoiled and basically did whatever he pleased. In the latest Good Housekeeping article on them, he's described as the middle child in his family. Does anyone know the truth?
I read somewhere that J&K started to market the tups even before they were born; this was their grand plan. At the time I thought this was ridiculous, no one is that devious. Don't I feel stupid now.

The LEDs they used look like EarthLED ZetaLux - http://store.earthled.com/collections/frontpage/products/new-earthled-zetalux-7-watt-led-light-bulb

They are $49 a bulb so figure they got 30 of them = $1500....must be nice :)

My mom and I had to turn off the episode half way through. I would have LOVED to get solar panels for my and my parent's house. But they are about 10K, which I don't have. I just can't believe how wonderful a gift this was (even thought she will get the financial breaks for it) and she was so nasty about it.
I gave up bottled water for the most part (recycle bottle if that is only option when out), I only use paper for parties (and try to compost that), need to relocate compost pile from back of the yard, and want rain barrels this year. C'mon TLC, help ME out! Not her.

EarthLED ZetaLux and EvoLux LED Light Bulbs featured on TLC's Jon and Kate Plus 8 Go Green Special
EarthLED ZetaLux and EvoLux featured as part of TLC’s ‘Jon and Kate Plus 8’ “Go Green” Special

Jon and Kate Gosslin of TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus 8 chose EarthLED ZetaLux and EvoLux LED light bulbs as part of their efforts to make their new house green. TLC documented the project in a one hour “Going Green” special. EarthLED light bulbs were featured along side a solar panel installation and energy efficient driveway lighting.

I can't believe how ungrateful Kate was about the solar panels and other earth friendly renovations that Steve Thomas and his team provided. Someone needs to slap that woman. She should be embarrassed about the way she acted on that episode. I was embarrassed for her!

Shame on you TLC...willing to show this episode?! Kate rolls her eyes when Jon talks about how putting up solar panels could hopefully reduce their carbon footprint and make their childrens' adult lives healthier. Kate scoffs when people get excited about the panels and the "green" projects.
Sure it annoys me she acts like a princess and has an attitude...but a complete disregard for the environment absolutely sickens me. She is in a position of privilege, and this episode, if done well, could have opened TLC viewers eyes to lots of environmentally sound possibilities for your house. BE GRATEFUL for having the option to green your house!

A few comments about this episode:

1. Did anyone else notice that every time the kids were riding bikes in the driveway, they were never wearing helmets? Not to mention the fact that there was large construction equipment nearby, but come on, no helmets? I know it's just the driveway and not a trail or road, but still Practicing safe habits at home is essential!

2. Every time Kate said something about being grateful, it seemed totally robotic. She couldn't have cared less!

3. Kate doesn't like projects?? What do you think owning a large house/property is all about, Kate? These things require time and effort to upkeep. Even though you'll hire someone to do these things, get over it - projects are part of owning a house, not to mention being a parent. When was the last time we saw these kids finger painting or coloring with crayons? Oh wait...HRH can't stand "projects"...

4. Did anyone else find it totally awkward when Steve Thomas said to Jon "is your wife going to beat you up"? This totally weirded me out!

5. I hate to break it to you Katie "the earth is only going to last so long" Irene, but even if we humans decide to destroy the earth in a nuclear war, the earth will still go on without us! Plate tectonics, evolution, etc still happen even if we're not around to witness it. Get a clue.

6. I know it was already mentioned, but paper plates? SERIOUSLY?? These kids are 5 and 8 years old now. Eating off of paper plates is not only environmentally unfriendly, but is degrading to the kids as well.

These people make me crazy!

Cynthia said...

I totally agree with the comments about the safety of the children!
If they were mine kiddos I would have had them either in the house or on another outside area. Dumb and not very responsible.

Notice how Kate just had to go to make a run to the grocery store and Jon stopped his work to give the kids a snack. Another snack of juicy and small crakers. Then the lunch that was served was cute and all but dammit Kate give those kids some hot food that will stick to their belly's and dont be afraid to give them a big enough serving.

Okay I have vented enought so on a lighter note....I loved loved loved when sweet little Leah ( my fav girl tups) was singing her little song. She is such a doll.

I hated it when the uber fans would say "if you hate the show so much, why do you watch it?" I never thought I would say it but, why are people still watching this show? I mean I just can't stomach more than more than a few seconds of Kate and then I have to either mute her or switch stations. Even though I have stopped watching it I do enjoy coming here and reading the posts and recaps during and after the show. I am on the west coast so if there is something of particular interest that many are writing about I will try to catch it later or during one of the million reruns. In fact, I just flipped over to TLC (while typing this during a commercial break from The Apprentice)....to see if I could catch Steve Thomas deal with Kate...I missed it but what I noticed is Jon staring directly at the camera and won't even look at Kate...very interesting......their marraige is soooooo over!!!

Kate doesn't really look that orange but her coloring looks very unnatural and her "11" is very pronounced between her eyes tonight......

I really hate Kate Gosselin!

Do you get the feeling that Steve Thomas was flirting with Kate? He wanted her outside with him so bad even when Jon said no he didn't need her to make a decision.

Of course it was all about how Kate didn't like this and that. Getting her in the cherry picker was ridiculous. She complained but you know she loved the attention.

"baking"!! Baking?!?! I remember in a past episode, before Aunt Jodi was banished, when Kate said something like, "I can cook, but Aunt Jodi, she can bake. That's her thing". And now, Kate suddenly loves to bake?? Maybe it has something to do with her cookbook coming out.
*******
My thought that she was getting in a dig at the bloggers who have pointed out that she is putting out a cookbook and has said she does not bake and does not follow recipes even. You could tell the number of times she said it was so fake. Just like when she did that sarcastic, "Welcome to the whole world" thing at her door. She also got in another dig saying she welcomes anyone to insult her. I guess she figures she is laughing all the way to the bank.

She's not going green though. She's gone orange and she ain't going back. I had a sick feeling watching this episode because she was so much nastier than usual. I get a sick feeling for her children because I can't help but feel she gives off such a restless vibe now, like she is chomping at the bit to go travel again and get away from her kids. They have to feel so insecure now with her gone all the time. The are not a priority to her. At all. Those guys definitely did not like her, you could tell. I was wondering if their wives made remarks to them abut her and the show (or if they knew from their own experience watching it) and that they went in there disliking her from the start. Sure seemed that way.

To be honest, I was wishing that instead of putting that harness around her legs that they put it around her orange neck. Oops. Was that harsh?

Yes, it's sweet, but I had the distinct feeling they had her sing to market her for future projects rather than she just spontaneously sang. Seriously, whenever I see one of those kids perform I think about how Kate took them on auditions, dropped hints about Disney shows and did that stupid video.

But, I guess when you are NOT actually PAYING for the panels its a different story! I'd loved to find out what the panels are actually generating energy for? Probably just to heat the pool!
---------------------------

Hubby says that electric solar panels generate electricity, whereas thermal solar panels are used to heat water. As far as heating the pool, we used to have a pool (last house) and we got an inexpensive solar pool cover that heated the pool beyond our wildest expectations! Our pool stayed at an average of 95 degrees! I loved it!

For the person who said their LED light bulbs were very expensive, then I have to ask, are they really saving any money? I mean, Steve says "they cost 38 cents a year to run", but if they cost so darn much to start with, they really don't seem like they are worth it to me. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, you know?

maria said...

I have one other comment on this episode. At the beginning when Steve comes up, the boys are riding their bikes and they all still have training wheels. But didn't I see an episode, at the previous house, where one of the boys was riding on two wheels and was very good at it? So why would they put his training wheels BACK on?

And was anyone else disgusted when Jon said something about being "at his crib". Geez, you are not a 20 something Jon, you are an adult. Please talk like one. It is a HOUSE.

When is TLC going to get a clue...why don't they have someone talk to her and tell her to work on her attitude or the well is going to dry up? It's almost like they are enjoying the fact that she is so ungrateful and horrible.

I just can't figure it out....

The people who are saying the host was being flirty do not understand he was taping his own show, Renovation Nation. That's what hosts do- be friendly. He was not flirty by any means.

That idiot Kate thought he was being a fan and she treated him like crap.

I seriously have never said this, but I hate that wench. She stands for everything vile on this earth. And yes, before someone says "what about rapists and murderers" let me say she depicts and possesses every negative and ugly personality trait a person could have.

Although they will benefit, you can't blame TLC for shamelessly promoting another show within theirs. It's the nature of TV. I am sure Kate would veto it if possible, due to her hatred of "projects" in the episode. She definitely was peeved. Now people are going to hate her for that too.

What has happened to Jon's vocabulary?

It's gone from BAD to Worse -

OR as my DH said, NON-EXISTANT TO PUNK...

He actually referred to their house as "MY CRIB..."

and then said

"We were ready to ROCK 'N' ROLL"

meaning they "were ready to start working."

I also noticed how often Kate PETS AND STROKES THE BACK OF HER OWN HEAD...

Those two are SO DISGUSTING; that's all I could take of "The Gosselins Go Greed/Green."

p.s. I couldn't understand ONE SINGLE THING the 'tups said in the first ten minutes of that episode. IMO, their language skills are getting WORSE, NOT BETTER. Way to get your children ready for kindergarten, KON. GEE WHIZ!

I did not watch the full episode but I caught bits and pieces while flipping during commercials. I love the fact that Steve has her number. I loved that he showed genuine acknowledgement to the kids..all the kids. It was very sweet. I loved him when he was on PBS. I think he wanted Kate to look at the solar panel placement because he KNEW what kind of person she was. They would put them up, get them secured, and she would come out and say she does not like it. He got her to LOOK at it..sort of..so that she could not turn around later and change her mind. She was more interested in her conversation on the telephone. Glad I did not watch the whole show..from what I gather, she was in her usual form!

In watching this show with their huge house and enormous property, I couldn't help but think about Kate's parents. Can you imagine what it must feel like to see your daughter and grand children on tv, but yet not have any communications with them? Now how painful is that?
It was interesting watching the old reruns and seeing how Kate would have huge melt downs if the kids wanted to just be kids and do the fun things in life. They can't get creative because that means Kate has to spend a day doing stain removal. If the kids can't have fun and do the normal things then why have them!
And watching her behavior last night...wow, she is a real b----!!! She definitely has many, many issues. There are drugs that she can take to help her handle life better. Maybe she should try em....
As far as the cookies go....we saw her leave to go get the ingredients, but I don't remember if they showed her baking. I think they were "bakery" bought, she just took the time to put them on a plate.
TLC...my hard hat off to ya, you did a great job in showing her drama!

Solar panels are fine in PA. We live a bit south of the KONS and they are here also. You cannot have any trees blocking them or they are useless. I agree they are more popular out West. PA is not Washington State, our rainy month is April.

Other than that I need to see the recap by the funny gal. Hurry please!

So, Kate mentioned how she hates dishevelness?? Paaaahlease - her kids always looked ungroomed and disheveled until the 'not-the-nanny' started working for them and most likely fixing their hair. Does she EVER look at her kids? Her family must be MORTIFIED to be related to this doofus!

I'm proud to say that I didn't even remember it was on last night much less watch the thing. (Celebrity Apprentice, anyone? :)

But I'm really enjoying making my way through all of these comments, and I think I already have a pretty clear picture of her (typically typical) ungrateful behavior. I can't help but wonder if Kate was royally po'd to be 'promoting' that 'other' show on 'HER' show? Maybe she felt USED? I bet that feels terrible! Let's ask the tups how that feels, shall we?

PS. LOVED the description of the robotic Kate voice piped in & Jon's surfer dude vocabulary. What a joke ;)

Q: Why do I always read that their "lunches" are so small? I dont get it; a cracker or two and a few grapes? Hummus? No sandwich? What about Spaghettios? Soup? Didnt they make soup once?
I mean they are getting older and needing MORE calories not less, right?
Do they still wear BIBS?
Why do they drink so much juice? Do they drink Milk at all? (I dont watch much and if I ever did, didnt really notice the food)
Is she afraid they will "Get fat?" On a few crackers???
I guess only SHE knows the answers to these Q's.
But she wouldnt pass MY grandmothers' mealtime philosophies I can tell u that!
Does their father ever wonder why they're not fed much? ESP since you all say that HE is "called inside" to FEED them?? (trans: place the grapes on the plate; why cant SHE do that anyhow??)

I didn't watch but I have read that the solar panels were up by the end of February. That said, Star magazine reported that Jon was sighted at a bar in Kutztown, PA on Feb. 14. So, to answer your question, I can't tell you when it was filmed but my guess, with how scripted the show is now, that the Valentine's Day stuff was added to show what a great mom Kate is spending time with her kids doing a project. Was it Valentine's Day? I doubt it.

ScarySkierNewJersey said...

And just Mommy? What about Mommy AND Daddy?

I also noticed the home made cards were just signed "Mommy". I thought that was odd. It just goes to show how how selfish and inmature Kate is. She wants credit for all the good things to look like the caring one. Make sme wonder as well if it was a "charade" on V-Day and Jon was indeed staying at his mom's and maybe just coming back for the filming. That would make sense for Kate to sign the cards from just her of Jon wasn't there. That being said, wouldn't you still want your kids to have the security of "mommy and daddy" celebrating the holiday with them? I think after all the vow renewal talk and how "mommy and daddy will always be together" you think she would have had more sense with the cards.

I have a house at down the Jersey shore and my neighbor got solar panels last year. They cost $7,500 for a small shore bungalow. That also included some rebates from the state of NJ for energy credits and also from the company itself. He told me he saves between $75 and $125 a month depending on the month. I know J&K got them either at a steep discount or free, but for regular folks it is a large lay out of cash that will save you in the long run if you plan to stay in your house.

Lastly, she talked about her father having unfinished projects and how it bothered her. Well her father is a pastor and a lot of small town pastors are on call 24/7 and run at the drop hat to visit the hospital, visit a hospice etc etc. Every year our church has a field day where we spruce up the church inside and out and that includes the pastors house and grounds as well. His wife is always gratful for the fresh paint, mulch and even a screen in porch that was built one year for them. So maybe, Kate's father didn't have the time or money to finish projects. Or, it is just another "poor me: story by Kate.

I was ROFL when Jane, who was climbing the roof, said that he had, of course, rappelled and rock climbed. (These in addition to all of his other manly sports.) You wait because, sooner or later, he'll throw in something about climbing in the Himalayas and comment on his favorite sherpa.

Jodi's sister took a lot of heat for writing about the Royal Couple's didos. The sheeple thought she shouldn't have talked about 'family matters.'

QFI actually started dragging out her family grievances long before that. I remember when Kon discussed there first wedding. Jane said they had paid for it. QFI remarked, 'No surprise there.' Then we heard about how her parents don't know how to help them, and last night, QFI told us her father never finished any project he started.

Others have remarked on the gum chomping—I keep waiting for QFI to crack it—so I'll leave it alone. I am, however, curious exactly how many times she said 'like' in the short exchange she had with Steve when they were sitting on the front steps.

I found the reference to Kate's childhood (unfinished projects) almost surreal. We never hear her talk about her "growing up years" or extended family. It really caught me off guard to hear her refer to an impression from her childhood. Naturally, it was not a happy memory.

I suppose this is why her parents aren't allowed to be a part of their lives...they would never finish any of the jobs Kate would give them. *snort*

And Kate couldn't be TOO afraid of heights...she flies all the time. What an act.

I actually found Jon kind of endearing. A guy getting to do guy things...I bet that was fun for him.

Do you think the clip of Kate on the phone talking about "get me a price...blah blah blah...before the order date" or whatever, that she was ordering Jon's birthday present/car?

I have have stopped watching this a long long time ago. But I flipped to it during a commercial break.

I feel so bad that those kids were clearly and obviously used as props in this episode. Why in the world would have small children in an area adjacent to or even remotely close to an area where there large machinery and heavy equipment. HEEELLLLOOOOOO!! That is so dangerous. Note to KON if you have to erect tables and orange cones as some type of barrier to keep little kids out then you might want to move the children inside or out of the area. Apparently, you have 20 acres you mean to tell me that you can't find another place for the children and dogs to play out of the way "all day long". My goodness. What a kind of
parent(s) let's their children play in area where they can get hurt? SHAME ON YOU TLC and CAMERA CREW for using those kids as props as you to get the money shots. And EVEN MORE SHAME ON YOU KEIGHT AND KON for putting your children in harm's way.

KON you have enough money buy a friggin' playground set for the children to play safely out of the way for your next *cough, cough* "project."

Just a couple of observations: Hey Steve, why are in the world are trying to expalin to 4 yrs. olds what a solar pannel is and how it works? I can pretty much guarantee that they are not going to remember anything about photoelectrons. He really should have Kept It Simple Stupid.
Like others have mentioned "Going Green" and using paper plates is so hypocritcal.
Kon is starting to put on alot of weight. He packing on the pounds. He must be turning to comfort foods since his emasculation.
Keight's body language screams volumes. She just looks so uninterested in participating in the couch interviews. And what is up with her face she went from looking orange to a muted beige color. I couldn't tell where her shirt ended and her head began. If it hadn't been for her Pepe Le Pew skunk stripped hair-do she would have been one big talking beige blob.
