I have a feeling this will be a very busy board tomorrow... sadly. Oh how I pray that Kate will show us a nice side tomorrow.

Joking, right? Not from the commercials for tomorrow. Anyone see where she says "heads will roll...and it won't be mine!" So very, very Kate-like!

Seriously, carpets, furniture, STONE flooring!!! FOr that much money on a house, I just want to move in.

Tearing up a room to paint is enough to send me, Miss OCD, up the wall. Forget a major renovation.

I guess if she's never there though, it won't bother her. She just picks the stuff out, leaves town, and lets her minons do her work. POOF. It's all magically done and paid for.

But still SOOO exhausting I'm sure.

We should try to guess how many ways Keight can make her face twitch in this episode. I am not even going to watch but I am guessing 11.
Will she clip her toenails on the couch?
Will Jon shave that flock of seagulls thing off the side of her head?
Will the kids eat green or red grapes?
Or will we just get to have to look at Kate and Jon`s sour pusses for another show?
Stay tuned....

While ya'll watch Miss Thang sitting on her throne pulling at her earring with her socked feet on the table, I'll be watching me some Bachelor!!! Deanna is supposed to show up and beg Jason to take her back. I'll catch the recap here and spare myself the misery of actually watching the trainwreck.

This shold be an interesting show.

I can't wait to see what generous donations they get for the house. They really deserve this, and it will be so much calmer now that they have the space they deserve so they aren't on top of each other.

I'll probably watch "Intervention" because there is a tiny bit of hope that the person will overcome their illness/addiction but I am positive that Jane and Kate can't be fixed. Hopeless! Hooked on free stuff forever!

Im sitting here watching the news discuss the fact that it will take 4 days to excavate the bodies from the Buffalo plane crash and then I read the above. Banks are shutting their doors and people are still losing thier homes.....but as they say in hollywood the show must go on and Jon and Kate must, must pimp their children on television every week. Jon and Kate are disgusting excuses for human beings.

I won't be watching. I'll be watching the Closer.

no wonder they didn't unpack much yet. They weren't going to need to. I hope they don't keep the highchairs.
At least we know that Lane is not a high end furniture co.

I can't believe people didn't see this coming. I remember an older show when she said she wants hope chests for Mady and Cara and said out loud 'just wait, now she'll try to get Lane to sponsor her or something'. Bingo!

I looked on the Lane site, but I couldn't find anything that remotely refers to KON. Could you post a link to what you saw?

Yep, Lane just laid off much of the town of Tooele, Utah. That was a big manufacturing plant there. They are now without jobs but the Gosselins get the furniture anyway.

boyscoutmomx5 said...

Thank you for the link.

I saw the site and am thankfulful that I will not be adding them to our family's list of where to buy furniture this summer. We are in desperate need of new living room furniture (thanks to pug puppies teething) but not that desparate. I'd rather take the free sofa off the curb than the ugly stuff the site said would fit my family.

For those of you that have bought from Lane in the past, I'm sure the stuff was much nicer then than it is now. Come over to Broyhill, they have great stuff that even holds up great with 5 boys and teething puppies and scratching kittens.
I just hope that Kon doesn't find out how well it can hold up even with 40 brownies hyped up to go camping and wind up jumping on your sofa! If only Kate knew how little she has to deal with children compared to the rest of the world. And BTW I don't have daughters... I just lead boy and girl scouts to help the children to grow into happy healthy adults. And I do it from my heart.... Something to chew over Kate.

To contact Lane, http://www.lanefurniture.com/customer_care/CustomerServiceRequest.asp?LHF= will take you to a form. I'm a little more than irritated at the fact that they laid off so many people, yet can still "afford" to give the Gosselins more crap they don't need.

Here is one good thing about KON getting new furniture from Lane, no more highchairs! Looks like they are getting a dining room set from them, I bet this company doesn't sell highchairs.

MOMX4 said...

I have bought many different brands of furniture over the years, everything from Lane to Henredon (I think I spelled that right). Anyway, our sofa from Lane reclined on both ends and was leather every place it touched your body, but the back and sides were pleather. It sat against the wall so no one really saw the pleather. It was in our family room and we have four kids.

The cushions did not hold up well. And several holes developed where the leather met the pleather. After three years, we pitched it.

I really cannot see the Lane furniture holding up for 8 children. Although, I guess, when it is free, you would not have to worry as much.

I think Kate is going to grow to hate the furniture because it will look good at first, but will rapidly decline with use.

pinkdiamond611 said...

Dontcha all feel the love? Kate will say she prayed that somehow they find the means to fill the new mansion with furniture. And from her lips to God's ears. Now she has more to write about in her next book.

I have two Lane cedar chests (bought at yard sales thank you very much) but they are very old and they have held up well over the years. I am not surprised to hear that their level of excellence is not what is used to be. Those kids will tear that stuff apart in the span of a year. When you have kids and dogs, you have to get stuff that will hold up well...or get your stuff second hand until they all grow up. But that is what normal everyday people do.
I am guessing the kids and dogs and Jon will not be allowed to breath in the furniture`s direction as long as Keight has her way.

I wouldn't understand if a family donated furniture... but this is a tv show.. companies use advertising money for things like this all the time. I'm sure they are well aware that they are not "hard up" and honestly Lane will probably end up with more money out of this than they spent...

And about lay offs.. If they are laying people off then aparently business isn't doing so well.. While it is terrible that they have to lay people off, in order to prevent laying more people off i think it's understandable that they have to do some advertising to boost business...

I can understand not liking the gosselins for a lot of reasons, but when it comes to accepting free things from companies who want to advertise themselves on their show, i just don't get it.

I can more than afford to buy a new tv, but if a company wanted to give me a free one because they had something to gain for it, I'd take one!

I just sent this email to the Lane Customer Servic.

I would like to say you have made a very bad public relations mistake. In December you lay off several of your employees, 1,400 at just around the same time you are assisting with freebees to people that can afford a 1.2 million dollar home. I bet you could have kept at least one fatheror mother employeed instead of giving to the greedy Gosselins - who cannot bother to work to support their own family. I have a NASSAU'S FURNITURE right in my home town. I will explore other brands than Lane in my shopping for a new livingroom and bedroom furniture.

"Citing a soft retail market, Furniture Brands International said Thursday that it is eliminating about 1,400 management, professional and hourly positions, or about 15% of its domestic workforce."

AnneMarie said...

Sadly, I kept thinking about this. She was looking at slate/stone flooring. Ya, that works really well with puppy pee. It soaks into the natural stone and continues to smell.

OH and since it's natural stone it continually makes "dust" and leaves socks and carpet edges blackened or grey.

The seal they seal it with, doesn't last forever, and reseals usually don't last.

Another item, in my own home, that drives me nuts.

I just have one comment today- WHERE ARE THESE KIDS SOCKS? Come on, in every episode no one is wearing socks.Never. They are in cold basements etc and not one of those ugly parents bother to put socks on these kids. I guess if they dont get things donated they do not exist in that house.

FYI, from Lane's website:

"Lane Furniture Industries is owned by Furniture Brands International which also owns other well known brand name companies . . . Broyhill, Thomasville, Drexel Heritage and Maitland Smith."

C said...

According to my husband (Lane Furniture - and some of the other companies I listed below - buy from his company for their materials to make their furniture) Lane Furniture is a division of Furniture Brands.

They are suffering badly because of the economy and had to close alot of their plants, including the ones in Mississippi and are moving everything to their main plant/headquarters in St. Louis.

If you want to send in or phone any questions/concerns/complaints I would dfirect them all in to the St. Louis address/office:

Lane Home Furnishings
14246 Manchester Rd
Ballwin, MO 63011
(636) 256-1900

Other furniture companies also owned by Furniture Brands:

Broyhill
Creative Interiors
Drexel Heritage
Founders Furniture
Henredon
Hickory Chair
LeBarge
Lane
Laneventure
Maitland-Smith
Pearson
Renovations
Thomasville Furniture
Thomasville Cabinetry
Thomasville Contract
Thomasville Flooring
Thomasville Lighting

This is obviously a desperate effort by Lane Furniture and Furniture Brands to help their failing companies.

I fear for any dogs that may end up in that household. The kids haven't been taught not to hit each other, and we're all sure KON hits their kids, so I'm afraid the dogs will also be subject to such abuse. Then, as soon as one of the dogs retaliates or turns into a fear biter...

What I don't get is why they can't pay for their own furniture. Has it been confirmed that the Lane co. is giving the furniture to them? Would be really bad if this Lane Co. has laid off all these people but then goes and gives away furniture and to top it off, gives it to the greedlins. Seems that is going to Po a lot of ppl off!

How much do you wanna bet the G's sell their old furniture instead of donating it?

Just flat out amazes me that the fans have no problem with all this.

Maybe the folks in New Orleans should have their children poop and talk about their weiners on national television and see if it gets them free furniture.

PhillyHockeyMom said...

I can't even watch the commercial anymore! I hope Jon sticks to his guns and doesn't let Kate railroad him into something she alone just wants.

It's a shame that Lane, is offering them free furnature and laid off so many people. I guess this is some sort of write off for them in one form or another.

Must be nice to get a big house and have it repainted and furnished for free or next to free.

Oh yeah, and the tups painting? Yeah that would happend if the cameras weren't rolling. The little cash cows have to be shown doing something. Yeah, this is reality TV.

Im just wondering why so many people are watching tonight's show? I mean, really who wants to watch Kate pick out flooring, receive free furniture, complain about a dented appliance and watch a paint crew paint her new house?

"All those poor souls who lost everything in Katrina, where was Lane Furniture then?"

It's all about marketability. Who wants to see a bunch of destitute flood victims receive handouts, they've had their 15 minutes of fame on TV and no one's tuning in to watch them struggle to rebuild their lives because they didn't get a TV show--too depressing! But America just loves watching that cute couple with all those screaming kids every Monday night. Did you know they're TLC's top ranked show, especially among women aged 18-49? Lane does, and Lane wants Kon's audience to buy their furniture. Those destitute Katrina victims? Maybe they'll get lucky and find some discarded Lane furniture in the flood reckage. That's as close as they'll get to a donation from Lane.

I wonder how the former Lane Furniture employees who watch the J & K + 8 reality show feel about losing their jobs due to layoffs and plant closings and Lane Furniture providing Welcome to our new home. Look at ALL the Lane furniture that your employer provided for us just before they handed YOU your pink slip!

lifeoriley said...

I will not be watching tonight--I do not like the process of moving anyway--I sure as heck don't want to watch others doing it--especcially J&K. It will probably more of the same-- Kate bossing people around, complaining, sighing, shaking her head and rolling her eyes--you know the drill.
As for the puppies to come, I'm curious to hear if they will indeed be let into the house, or will be required to live in one of the outbuildings or in part of the basement. I just can't imagine Kate allowing dog hair, poop, and pee in her house-- or taking the risk that they will chew on her new furniture. Also, TLC and Animal Planet are owned by the same company--perhaps a dog-training tie-in is in the works?

pinkdiamond611 said...

Lane is convinced that all the Sheeple will run out and buy the same furniture that the Kons receive. Same for the flooring distributor. As far as the dogs are concerned, I am CONVINCED that the treatment of those dogs will be the downfall of the gravy train. It seems as if animals have better rights and more vocal supporters than children in this country. jmo

Meg,
You are right, companies that donate see it as 'free' advertising. I just meant I can't believe after watching the show they would want to be represented by HER. In my eyes it gives them negative advertising- not positive.

___________________

Even if they outfit the Gosselin's house in $200000 worth of furniture (doubtful), that money would not have helped them to keep any more than maybe five people employed, for a year, if that.

Lane will help to prevent more people from being laid off by donating furniture that will be seen by millions of TLC viewers. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than a commercial, and viewers will be seeing that furniture for as long as Jon & Kate Plus 8 is on TV.

It's just advertising.

wramblinwreck said...

"Also, TLC and Animal Planet are owned by the same company--perhaps a dog-training tie-in is in the works?"

Well, Cesar Milan, "The Dog Whisperer" is on NatGeo, but I'd still like to see him visit the Gosselins. He'd have the whole lot of them trained in no time. And the dogs too. :)

ThreeFarmers said...

I agree that the Lane promotion is just advertising.

What is shameful is that the Gosselins like to flaunt their success. Isn't there something very unchristian-like about being boastful?

I am always amazed that J&K can't see how far off track they are. You just know that by the time the reality of their poor choices hits them where it hurts, they will be blaming every one else but themselves. It will be the fault of their "jealous" critics, TLC, Figure 8...everyone but themselves.

Monica said...

Wow...more hand outs. what a suprise....not!

I will just catch the re-cap here since I am also disgusted by this family. I agree with other posters who feel that Lane should have chosen more deserving families. Hurricane Ike hit Galveston over 4 months ago and they are barely getting FEMA trailers. Why not help some of these families who have LOST EVERYTHING? Why not donate to women's shelters or homes where people stay when they have loved ones in a hospital?

The KONS are losers and nothing but takers. Where is all their Christian generosity?

Laura said...

Since there has been some rumors about The Gosselin's and Ashley Furniture, I emailed the marketing dept to ask if they were a sponsor or if they will be donating any furniture. I got a reply with a firm no on both questions.

I also emailed a couple sponsors (as well as Figure 8 and TLC) and explained my concern about the show and it's exposure. I've gotten some really great responses. If anyone is interested in email addresses, just let me know!

So does anyone think that the PR team said we can't have the kids in front of the camera's 24/7 in case of any meltdowns [Mady] so lets get some dogs in the picture [hey they are cute too?!].

Why would a family of 10 with 6 kids under 4 get dogs?! Young children and dogs usually don't mix. Maybe next season when the kids go off to school it'll be Jon and Kate + 2 poor dogs. Anything to keep this show on, ugh!

I haven't watched this show in many months, probably seasons. I enjoy reading the recaps here on GWOP, but I think the show is beyond boring. The show was cute in the beginning, but it's initial appeal is long gone, and Kate is just downright hateful. I'm really suprised that this show still has such a strong viewership, I just don't get the draw.

I'll be watching "24." Jack Bauer (Keiffer Sutherland)is far more interesting, and easier on the eyes than Hair Plugs and Tummy Tuck!

I don't think its TLC's doing. Jon and Kate are producers of their show now and I think they are showing these kinds of episodes is because it says (in Kates mind at least) "Look at the money we have, we bought a new house and now are completely redoing it because or show is so popular."

I (to the pleasant surprise of my DH) cancelled Jon & Kate from my DVR. I decided that instead of complaining about the show, I'd so something. I know it's one household, but if more people actually DID it, their ratings would drop. As much as my husband and I loved learning about things NOT to do with our future children, we realized that if we stopped watching it, that would be best!

I have no problem with a company doing a product placement on a popular TV show. That's just good business. Now, personally, I hate to see more rewards handed to Kate Gosselin whom I believe hoped for and planned, all along, for a HOM pregnancy for the attention and perks it would bring.

What I find disturbing is wondering how many more Nadya Sulemans there will be. Truly, it seems to be easier to get a TV show and, thus, fame and fortune, by having multiples than become a celebrity based on actual talent. J&K plus 8, thier book and all their other publicity reads like a handbook for popping out a ton of kids and earning a living off their backs. Did we really think there wouldn't be copy cats?

I too, fear for the well being of a Gosselin family pet. But I doubt it would bring the end of the show. TPTB will edit out anything that could truly bring trouble to the Gosselin family. Their jobs depend upon it. It's not illegal for Kate to insult and degrade A MAN week after week so they will show that. It keeps the viewers tuning in. Personally, I think other people like to see it so they can justify their own controlling and abusive tendancies. But abuse of a pet is a society tabu. They'll never show it. Much like they would never show Jon yelling at Kate for breathing incorrectly or allow him to scream at her and belittle her to the extent that she gives it to him. Their viewers wouldn't stand for a woman to be treated that way, nor would they allow an animal to be mistreated. But I think far too many people feel that belittling a man is fair game.

I understand that the furniture is not "donated". I understand that the companines give the product in exchange for air time.

But what i dont understand is why any company would want to be associated with THIS show.

With with 8 kids and 2 dogs, the furniture will be exposed to more wear and tear than normal use.

Later someone watching the show will think " wow look how quickly that Lane furniture broke/tore. Gee its not very durable stuff is it"

Basically the Gosselin children are paying for their own furniture. They are paying with their privacy and their childhood.

I think its disgusting that a company is willing to affiliate its self with the Gosselin's period. Any involvement and support of their show is backing child exploitation. I don't care if they are doing it for the free advertising, its wrong.

ThreeFarmers said...

I understand the benefits of product placement for a company. I understand that the placement usually involves some trade out of products. Let them work a deal with programs that don't exploit children.

What I don't understand is that these companies seem to justify exploiting the children for their own profit just because they gave them some furniture or other products. It doesn't matter if it makes the company more profitable so they can employ more workers...it's never OK to exploit children.

Providing the Gosselins with a house full of furniture doesn't make the exploitation ok. Period.

angie said...

What I want to know is why Kate always has to point out that what the kids just consumed or will be consumming is ALL ORGANIC. My household is 97% organic, as there are non-organic foods we won't live without, and if someone asks me what we're having for dinner I don't say "chicken, rice, and carrots.....all organic" Who cares! I guess thats another way for her to feel she's better than others. I remember in the beginning when she expressed that SOME day she would like to eat all organic but at the moment its just fruits, veggies, and some meat! Also it would make sense to be a stay at home mom when you have that many children but how are they going to continue a show when the kids start school full time! So we can watch the routine of Jon and Kate out shopping everyday while kids are in school and then what happens when they get home, just to hear how exauhsted her day was....gag me!

babeeberry said...

I saw some interesting commericials on TLC today. Matt Roloff heading to Iraq to help children. The Duggar clan heading hither, yither and yon to help children, and KON sitting on their perfectly sculpted butts accepting more FREE crap. Saying these 2 are deplorable isn't even a big enough word. How do they show their faces in public anymore?

Oh, and is it just me but when we had litte kids we purposely waited on getting new furniture because we didn't want to watch it get ruined by sticky little fingers and such. We didn't want to always be worried about stains and stress about dirt. There will probably be future episodes of Kon blowing gaskets because the kids were on the furniture, standing near the furniture or walking to close to it. I'm sure the tups playroom will be as barron as the old one and the Kon's cave will be decorated to the hilt!

I expected this, but to see it has actually happened, makes me sick. This greedy couple can't be stopped....I really am believing this now. Free house, free renovations, free furniture, and it's all from greed and child exploitation. How can the sheeple still like KON after all their actions in this economy? They don't represent "regular Americans" trying to survive day by day. I really despise them

Please give me a list of sponsors! I have been reading this blog for a while, and have decided to post. I am so disgusted with the show, and have decided to boycott sponsors, but cannot find a list of them. I already wrote to Lane. Thanks to anyone who has the info!

I forgot to mention the dogs. I'm afraid of how Kate will treat these poor pooches, both physically and verbally. The sad thing is if PETA gets ruffled over her treatment they would probably be able to make more noise than we ever have in here. I'm certainly not hoping for the dogs to be mistreated, I'm just saying PETA is not someone I'd wanna piss off. Its really sad that the dogs are probably better protected by laws than the Gosselin children are in the state of PA.

I wonder how this episode will be, will Kate have a panic attack over the kids painting the wall? I wonder how the finished product will look like? I think they will allow the kids to paint but then go over it again. They are just pretending to allow the kids to paint so viewers will tune in to watch! I can't wait till 6 to see this "great" episode!!

I think its disgusting that a company is willing to affiliate its self with the Gosselin's period. Any involvement and support of their show is backing child exploitation. I don't care if they are doing it for the free advertising, its wrong."

And keep in mind that all the fees different churches charge to have Kon as speakers are also making money exploiting the Gosselin children. The church in Parksburg is entering "the final phase" of a new church. In my opinion, a church making a profit is no different than any other sponsor.

Yes your right, churches are making money off 8 innocent children and that is so wrong. Any body making money off of child exploitation is wrong, church, major corporation, or family members it doesn't matter to me.

There will probably be future episodes of Kon blowing gaskets because the kids were on the furniture, standing near the furniture or walking to close to it.

It's funny how at the end of last weeks epi, both J&K were talking about how all their furniture wouldn't be enough and then POOF, they are given all new furniture. I remember exactly saying that in an episode or two, they would be getting new furniture. This is BEFORE I read the upcoming epi. So predictable.

Amy said...

I fear for any dogs that may end up in that household. The kids haven't been taught not to hit each other, and we're all sure KON hits their kids, so I'm afraid the dogs will also be subject to such abuse. Then, as soon as one of the dogs retaliates or turns into a fear biter...
*******************************

Yes, if we see that happening on the show, we can call PETA. There are laws protecting animals. Unfortunately, no laws currently in place to protect kids on reality shows.

Jen K said...

Because of the wonderful recaps on this site and others, I'm happy to say that J&K has been wiped clean of my DVR schedule as well.

Won't be watching...again, like a previous poster, it's just me but one less viewer is one less viewer all the same.

I'm not saying everyone should do this of course. I agree that it's important to be up on what is going on with the show, but there are so many here who watch that I feel comfortable bowing out for awhile.

If I understand it correctly, the cable and DVR companies can track if you have watched if you record it, rewatch a recorded DVR episode, or if you are watching live on digital cable. Is that correct?

So regular cable, skipping the digital box would not be recorded as a "viewer"? Just in case someone I run into asks that. I'm just plain not watching tonight but it would be nice to know which views are actually tracked for future reference.

And what I sent:

I see Lane is a supporter of child exploitation! I cannot believe you have become involved with the greedy Gosselins.

We are in the market for an entirely new living room/dining room and will definitely avoid Lane furniture.

If your corporate decisions are this ill-advised, no wonder you're struggling.
Helping rich scammers during this bad economy is ludicrous.

Thanks for the link. Seems like they got their whole house furnished. Good thing she picked out all those beds the kids were going to have until they left the house....@@

But what i dont understand is why any company would want to be associated with THIS show.

With with 8 kids and 2 dogs, the furniture will be exposed to more wear and tear than normal use.

Later someone watching the show will think " wow look how quickly that Lane furniture broke/tore. Gee its not very durable stuff is it"
________________

In their old house, Jon and Kate had a white couch in their living room. That white couch was frequently shown with kids jumping on it, standing on it, drinking juice on it, etc., yet I don't recall seeing stains or tears. If a white couch that is several years old can stand up to 8 kids, I imagine whatever furniture Lane gave them will stand up just fine when 2 dogs are added to the mix. The kids are older now and less likely to be as rough on furniture as when they were two and six.

As to the comments about Lane supporting child exploitation... it's not that black and white. I doubt the people at Lane are as familiar with the minutiae of the show as we here at GWOP are. We view episodes critically, sometimes on a frame-by-frame basis, to detect some of the more subtle signs of exploitation and abuse. I would be very much surprised if anyone at Lane has done more than casually watch a handful of episodes; when they decide to send their stuff to the Gosselins, all they're looking at is ratings and demographics.

I think they should be informed of who they are affiliating themselves with, but I don't think we'll get anywhere by accusing them of being pro-exploitation. With as much as Lane knows about the Gosselins, that will just sound OTT. Calm, factual statements would make a better impact, IMHO.

I am sitting her watching Little People Big World and Matt is in Irag again helping a disabled little family. I must say it's really touching that he goes out of his way to help these poor people. I know he can be a media hog, but I truly think they are a good family.

Then I see a commercial about the Duggers visiting a poor village in third world country.

Listen these two families don't have to do anything but they go out of their way and help people in need.

I don't see KON doing anything but giving out books with their so call autographs. Who wants a freaking book??? ... they are a disgrace!!!!

I'm a single woman who works hard everyday and I manage to own a home, pay my bills and give money to charity in addition to giving clothes and furniture to Goodwill. I live in Chester County, PA and they are burning down houses in my town (dont' know if any of you have seen that on the national news). Yes, I'm concerned, but what do I do, I go the local high school and give them some extra clothing that my family and I got together and pray that the arsons don't come into my township.

I don't see KON doing anything for anyone but themselves.

And to clarify, I said Alexis "seems" to be a lefty and the others righties because they're young enough to still switch. I was pretty ambidexterous until I learned how to write, then I was encouraged to be a righty. My piano teacher swore I was a natural lefty and when my right wrist had issues, I learned how to scoop ice cream left-handed (w/a right-handed scoop) in about 10 minutes. When a natural lefty took longer than that! Anyway - long paragraph to say these parents need to pay more attention to these kids as individuals!

PS- I left the tv on, and they're showing the episode of when they flew out to Utah, and omg, hahhahaa, could Kate be any less of a grown up and not cry on the plane??? "We don't fit anywhere! there's no room for us because there's too many of us!!" Okay --Three Farmers - I now bestow upon you the title of "High Priestess"! Your explanation of how people find this site - get angry and blog alot - then start to really dig deep and get disgusted - to the point where they just can't watch anymore - -hit the nail on the head. That was exactly my learning curve. (Are you a teacher familiar with Maslow's hierarchy, by any chance?)I just started to watch tonight's show - I used to think it was so I was informed and could continue to be an advocate. Within the first 10 minutes I started to be so irate and aggitated that I just shut it off. Her look (dark grey eyeshadow, frowny, supercilious expression) totally matches how she speaks. She has actually become this dark presence exuding out into the universe her negativity and selfishness. The universe will answer at some point (yes - I do believe in that stuff). Even what could be called her "aura" is just so "off" that I literally grabbed the remote- hit off - and dropped it!

There is really something wrong here and I knew I could not stomach how she would be letting her kids (by the way - all our children are just on loan to us to teach US - not the other way around) deal with painting. Even her comments about the new appliances "when this arrived", or "when this was delivered" illustrated her desire to conceal all that she is spending and how much money they have.. Notice she doesn't ever say "when we bought this"! Oh yeah - I am sure that diswasher was just soooo ancient. Whatever you need to tell yourself! She has no clue the droves of people that are turning against her. I have been put off from her since the beginning - but she recently, even more so, is putting another nail in her coffin every time she opens her mouth. She has probably been around so many "yes, men" for so long she has bought into it.

How the (false)mighty are going to fall. Just in this instant of turning off the TV, I feel a sense of liberation - I don't mean to sound dramatic - but I realize that other than writing letters there is so little I can do to help those kids - and in the mean time it was so disturbing to me that it was affecting my mood. No one can watch such horrendous parenting, (and, yes, abuse) and not be bothered unless you are extremely hardened against emotion.

I will continue to check in here and see if there are any choices or actions that I can take for the children's sake - but other than that - I cannot stand to see this farce that has become something far darker than the word "farce" implies. Thank you to all of my fellow bloggers, and especailly to 3F who is always the voice of reason and has such wisdom to offer. I bow down to you, my friend - you called this arc of behavior perfectly!

A professional painter does not use nor need tape to mark off trim.
When we had our house painted my brother never used a piece of tape and did a perfect job. He had two guys come help him finish the kitchen. They were finish guys, not painters. They used tape and their work was crappy. I actually asked my brother to come back and fix their mistakes.
I've never seen a professional use tape. Takes too much time. Hence the reason the painter didn't have any. But paint does come off the trim easily if you catch it fast.

Oh, yeah - and what dip#$%@ decides to cover up what looks like beautiful wood flooring (not the prefab stuff either, but real laid down wood)with tile.Too bad she doesn't have Beth around to steer her away from her own horrible taste! You can't fix stupid!

OMG. I absolutely cannot believe how boring this show has become. Did anybody else watch and feel like this was truly the most boring episode yet? I mean, who really cares about them picking out tile, or painting the frigging walls?

I did notice how upset one of the girls seemed to be about having a little bit of paint on her hands. Damage control that the episode probably was, I think it's way too late. Those kids can't even handle a little paint on their hands? Wow.... I just .... just wow.

Jon seems to really resent these kids, by the voice he usually speaks to them with. He always sounds angry/impatient when he addresses these kids. It's really sad, it's like he's just over being a dad.

And wtf was up with that face he made at the end, when Kate as usual went on and on at him and wouldn't shut up? He had the strangest look on that face, and his head was sorta crooked off to the side? wtf??

This was truly like watching paint dry, no pun intended. Pure bs, pure boredom.

And the exploitation continues. I know I should stop watching. I don't even really know why I do it anymore.

They got German Shepards? (SP) They must have got them for the guarding factor, I don't think we will see them much after the initial introduction.

So I noticed something, and you all may have noticed it, but I am in a hurry and didnt read through all the comments.

I thought the coloring sheets that the kids were using looked a little strange. So when they showed what the title was on the sheets, "kids crooked house" I put it into google and found this site

I am anticipating one of these extravagant play houses popping up on the konpounds yard very very soon

We haven't seen the twins in what - 3-4 weeks? I know they are at school, but it seems odd that they haven't really even been mentioned or seen in any shots. Maybe they have decided they don't want to be filmed anymore? I' m hoping this is the reason and they are finally free (and soon to be followed by the other six! One can only hope!).

Perhaps the twins are too busy with other 'family business' responsibilities. Like placing the 50% off mark down stickers on the Multiple Ble$$ings book.

Thank you to all of my fellow bloggers, and especailly to 3F who is always the voice of reason and has such wisdom to offer. I bow down to you, my friend - you called this arc of behavior perfectly!

That's so nice, but I hardly think I deserve such lofty praise. But, seriously, I almost threw up a little in my mouth before I figured out you were talking about me.

If I ever had a need to hire a PR person, I'll give you a call.

Thanks!

I paint interiors, I'm not a professional but I've painted a TON. I never use tape, ever, I have a steady enough hand and good brushes.

However, while I'd normally tape the trim off for a 5 year old, I would NOT tape of trim that was just painted yesterday. You risk damaging the paint if it hasn't fully cured.

Like the guy said, it's just paint!

Okay, Kate, this is your PR (that's Public Relations, by the way) rep: Here's the new strategy. Since you're so "busy" these days and on the road a lot, we're going to arrange the episodes in this pattern: away-home-home; away-home-home.

When you're home, you are going to be such a darn doll that no one will notice the eps where you're gone. You are going to, get this, even let them paint and I'll be there in the back drop to remind you to hug one randomly and praise them ridiculously. It'll be fine, Kate.

No, I don't think all that Whirlpool stuff was over the top. They said they'd donate, and you checked off all the stuff you wanted. Yes, you look very fashionable. I agree that you were so boring before when all you were doing was hanging around the house in sweats. Yes, yuck. No, I don't think that was unreasonable to tell them never ever to be in your room. That's your space, Kate. You have earned it and what right do children have to try to bother their parents? No, you missed nothing during the move. Lots of parents do that. What long-term effects? Silly talk, Kate. Silly talk. What? No, we're not going down that whole family road again, Kate. They didn't know how to help you, we're tying it there. Who, Mady? She was angry to begin with. And wait until we open the surprise box, Kate. Puppies. Who will notice Jon moving out when there are adorable puppies licking everyone? We have it all under control, Kate.

Mady did mention something about wanting playhouses in an earlier episode. More placement...for crying out loud, are you telling me that the kids had to color sheets for product placement even?

Didn't watch and so glad...ughh...the kids can't even just color what they want? Even that is dictated by sponsors.

Well, let's see...our new house will not have Cesspool appliances and my little guy won't have a play structure by that company. We're just one family, but our word of mouth with friends, family and neighbors counts for something.

Just starting to read through these posts tonight. Has anyone mentioned we are finally getting to watch the paint dry on the walls? This has been discussed previously when speaking about how boring (YAWN) this show has become. Hey producers have you been getting show ideas from this board again?

timetogokon said...

I'm not watching.

I have a suggestion for the person who does the recap :

Because the list of sponsors just keeps getting longer and longer *sigh* and there are lots of new posters here !yay!, could the recap also include a list of the new sponsors featured in the epi?

And then, maybe on the home page, much like your central area for posting all the links to articles about KON, which is fantastic, there could be a running list of all the sponsors to date, and also maybe a FAQ area as well (Where is Beth or Aunt Jodi? Why don't we see the grandparents? etc)

This blog is receiving more traffic than ever, which is a great thing, and I understand all you mods are already working your tails off. I just think that the more information that is centralized, the better.

JMO, of course.

we got a new DVD cabinet yesterday! from freecycle. the previous owners dogs chewed the bottom a bit, but at least we don't have to assemble it! :-)

hey, did Kate have a coupon for those appliances? (or were they just product placement? darn, maybe if she had a coupon, they would have had to pay *her* for giving them to her!)

I didn't even notice that, good call. I just looked them up, they'll probably end up with the $4400 model because "there are so many of them".

and come to think of it, I hear Donny Osmond had a leather soft patched with tape for years and years. Too bad Mother Osmond isn't around to teach Kate the value of money in raising (in her case *9*) kids. (there was a time before they were famous, and they had 8 by then)

Gotta hand it to the Gosselins. Where the hell do you find a handyman/nanny today to wash up the kids who just ruined the clean baseboards with spayed spots all over the newly painted baseboard.

I couldn't believe the shots of him cleaning up her kids.

Love the way Kon said they had to "Buy" stuff for the house.

Her going on about the Duet Washers was a lot nauseating.

I have a Whirpool Duet, and I wouldn't buy another front loading washer because the washers get mold in them unless you religiously clean out the front area where the rubber rim is located every few washes (that collects suds and water).

It's not only an issue with Whirpool, LG has a class action lawsuit going on.

PS- I left the tv on, and they're showing the episode of when they flew out to Utah, and omg, hahhahaa, could Kate be any less of a grown up and not cry on the plane??? "We don't fit anywhere! there's no room for us because there's too many of us!!" Geeze, I mean, I understand the pressure of having all of those loud and rowdy kids on a plane, but suck it up and try to calm them down instead of adding to the commotion. Oy!!!!

-------------------------

What pressure did Jane and Keight have with the kids ?

Jane, Keight, Beth = 3 adults (and I use that term very loosely with Jane and Keight)

8 kids, 2 of whom are older

3 adults for 8 kids is a very manageable number for most normal, mature adults.

I maybe wrong and too lazy at this time to go back ti DVR and check, but did I see Jon flipping through some kind of catalog when the kids were coloring their pictures? Maybe it was a Crooked House catalog? Actually I thought it was a script- not sure- will go back and check.

It reminded me of a couple that we speak of here....their names rhyme with Shmon and Skate..........

Here is one good thing about KON getting new furniture from Lane, no more highchairs! Looks like they are getting a dining room set from them, I bet this company doesn't sell highchairs.

Those kids will still be in highchairs, new furniture or not... I'll bet $10 (hey, the economy sucks, it's what I can afford right now) the kids will be in bibs and highchairs and sippy cups until they're in their 30's.

Heh heh... :)

I have a front loading washer, and I have NEVER had a problem with mold. You just have to leave the door open, so it dries out.

I suspect those dogs will be fitted with outdoor doggy booties so as not to track in mud, leaves, feces, grass, etc.
All the icky stuff that comes with owning dogs
