In recent episodes we've seen that Kate is ANGRY, in a different way from previous seasons. She's traveling all over the country making TV and speaking engagements, and attending book signings. She's possibly exhausted and may have depended on Jon to do his share at home. Is he though? Jon was sighted snowboarding Tuesday, 2/3/09 at Bear Creek Mt in PA. Maybe all the kids were in school, and he needed a break. Just wondering...

I might be wrong about this, but I could swear in one of the early episodes, Kate said she would never get stainless steel applicances because of all the fingerprints...did I imagine this? If I didn't, why would she get all stainless now and now wait until the kids are older? I guess when you have a someone else cleaning your house, you don't care about fingerprints.

SIGHTING:

My sister spotted Kate at the local Giant this week. She couldn't stop talking about her tan and how dark it was. I wonder if she has gotten herself a tanning bed.

As has been posted on other threads, I think Kate has come to resent all of the work she must do to hold onto all of the material things they have acquired. Seems as though she does the lions share of the media engagements and is away from home most of the time. That lifestyle wears on people. I, by no means, am defending her. Just a thought as to why she seems "differently" angry than in previous episodes.

Last night I was listening to some news radio and they were ripping into Nadya Suleman. They kept using the word "exploitation" over and over and over. I was so annoyed that Kate Gosselin seems to be immune from criticism. Why is that?
Is it because everyone thinks Jon and Kate didn't purposely have hom's? Is it because they don't believe they are exploiting their children?
The news radio program was speaking very harshly about Nadya accepting a quarter of a million dollars from a UK newspaper. What is the difference between that and accepting a reality show worth MILLION$????????

Kate has nannies to help when Jon is home. So I don't think it is a matter of not enough getting done at home. Her anger toward Jon is palpable when they are being interviewed. Reality marriages rarely survive. Aside from the Osbournes, who else has stayed together? I am betting that when season 5 is over, and TLC's contract has ended, this couple will divorce. They don't seem to like eachother very much.

Does anyone remember the newspaper article a long time ago when Kate stated that society has a responsibility to take care of her children (multiples) because society condones fertility treatments? It' obvious BS, but made me think that Kate is part of society and thus, according to her logic, she should be helping Natalie Suleman. Oh wait, Kate is too selfish to think about anyone (including her children) except herself. Every time she says something is "for her children", I think that is her way of saying "I deserve this because of my children". As if carrying babies to term qualifies you to be a mom. Wrong.

I genuinely feel great sorrow for the Gosselin children for all they have endured, and will endure now that Kate is clearly losing it. However this story ends, the children are the ones who will have to deal with the fall out for the rest of their lives (thanks to TLC and the internet endlessly playing the continuous exploitation.)

I also feel sorrow for the children of Natalie Suleman. With all the hatred aimed at Natalie and the apparent loss of family support those kids are the ones who will suffer.

If people like Kate (who can provide for her kids, but doesn't want her kids) and people like Natalie (who wants her kids, but cannot provide for her kids) really thought about the best interest of their children, they would acknowledge that there at SO many childless couples (or family members( who would have adopted those precious children in a heartbeat.

As an adoptive mom, I am forever grateful to the women who selflessly sought a better life for her child and allowed me the gift of being a mom to an amazing little angel. I feel all the birthmothers in the world are the true heroes and the ones who truly put the needs of their babies first before the desires of their heart. If only Kate and Natalie saw the bigger picture and recognized what is best for the children is always the right thing to do.

Kate and Jon have paid a very hefty price for their money and fame. In wanting to do "everything for the kids", what have they given them?

-Aside from material things and vacations, they have given them two parents who obviously don't get along, in part due to the stress from filming and everything that goes along with it.

-They have given their
children no privacy.

-They have given their children new appliances and fancy clothes.

-They have given them a new house that the kids "deserve."

-They have given them "the luxury of a stay at home mom, who we know is never home. When the cat's away...we know what Jon does.

While doing "everything for the kids," they have set them up for dysfunction and exploitation, all for the almighty buck. It's as if they saw it as easy money, and it sure as heck turned into more than they bargained for. It is very sad. I would never want to trade places with them.

They sold their souls a long time ago, and Jon and Kate are paying a very heavy price for the life they live.

Hello, hello! I've been lurking awhile, but this is my first post. I have a couple small questions.

I'm pretty good with the nicknames... I get Keight and Kon and Jane, etc... but there are two that have me stumped:

-Katie Irene... I know this is her birth name, but is there a reason we use it? Did she mention she hated it or something? I'm very curious about that. I will gladly use it if I know she hates it.

-QFI... I'm guessing the Q stands for Queen, since Kate thinks she is one... but the FI has me confused. Freebies? Irene? I've got nothin'.

Thanks everyone! Love the site!

I'm going to take this opportunity to bring up a small issue that I have with some posters. No offense, guys, because I love everyone who contributes to the cause, but I just wanted to clear something up. Do not be offended; I just want to ensure that this amazing blog stays welcoming to everybody.

I often see posts like this: "Kate is a fake Christian"..."Kate does not act Christian..." "As good Christians, we must not support Kate..."

As an non-Christian poster, I take issue with this. Since when are Christians perfect? Doesn't that go against the teachings of the Bible anyway (nobody is perfect, hence Jesus had to die for you)?

I strongly advise you to look at the crime rates of major Christian countries. Colombia has the highest murder rate, and supplies most of the worlds cocaine, and it is 95% Christian.

My country of Sweden is one of the least religious countries of the world. I have never heard of a murder or even violent assault in my city. Our HDI is much higher than America's (and higher than almost all other countries, too), and our crime rates are relatively low.

Please, let's keep from talking about Christianity. There are plenty of things that we can discuss about KON, but their religion certainly should not be one of them.

No religion is perfect. There are murderers, criminals, and hateful people who adhere to every religion. There are Jon and Kates in every religion, too. I know many of you are American, where Christianity is considered the 'norm' and a very positive thing. And I know that your society is not very atheist-friendly. But please, be considerate of others when posting!

Remember that NO group of people is superior. And just because KON are Christians does not mean other Christians act the same way.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but Oprah has a hot topic/question thread re: Jon and Kate plus 8 and what sounds like a future show with them as guests.

Can't believe Oprah would be willing to have them on again unless Discovery is 'forcing' her to since I think they are now affiliated or she has a sheeple producer.

Just a little something:

Yesterday I decided to go through my 11yo's overflowing desk drawers to de-clutter.

Guess how many rocks I found? There were about 8 really pretty, unique, bigger ones from various excursions and a Ziploc of tiny rocks he gathered when we went to a small, rocky "beach" with some friends.

As soon as I saw the rocks I thought of the episode where everyone posted here that Jon wouldn't allow the kids to pick up rocks or sticks, etc during their walk in the woods.

I wouldn't even think of throwing them away, I just put them in a little box and put the box in his bottom drawer.

Great comment, iheartmyhubby, and I agree with you about reality marriages. My husband and I have been commenting for a long time on the tension between Matt and Amy
Roloff. She talks just as nasty to him as Kate does but no one seems to call her out. Why? Amy is away from home a TON and yes, her kids are older, but I found that my kids almost needed me more from middle school on than when they were little. The Roloff kids can be real BRATS!

Melyssa-

Welcome to the world of GWOP!!

You are correct on QFI : a poster started using this a while ago, and , among others, has stuck.

Regarding the use of Katie Irene, I've always seen it used in the context of addressing Kate in a -rightfully so- snide manner.

Just wondering in the "Good Bye Old House" upcoming episode if Kate returns to clean her kitchen? I recall someone saying that a professional crew cleaned the whole house except for the kitchen.

My sister and I were talking one night (we live together) and the possibility of ever having more children. She was saying how her stomach was hurting and was feeling faint because it was hot in the kitchen where she was preparing dinner, when her husband turned around and asked "Are you pregnant?" We were both laughing and she said "Please I don't have time to get pregnant" and what did I say?

"Shut up- you sound like Kate Gossslein!" We both were hysterical laughing after that.

BoyMomInTX said...

I think just the opposite about Kate being angry because she's tired of working so much. I believe she loves being gone and resents having to come home. She is probably chaufered (sp?) everywhere when she is on these "trips," she doesn't cook, clean or take care of anyone other than herself, she gets her makeup and hair done and new clothes every single day, she walks out to screaming fans and lots of gushings as to how much they love her, etc.
I think she doesn't want to come back home and do anything at all with the kids or Jon. I think she feels she's too big for the show now and resents having to sit for the interviews.
I have read some comments that she's nasty to her fans sometimes too, though so she could just be miserable all the time, no matter where, when or with who.

Helen said...

There's another thread on this site that was detailing an experience of running into a woman (mom?) in a store or restaurant parking lot, begging for money, kid(s) in tow, like using the kid as a ruse to get money, but not for the kid but for drugs. The thought I was picking up from this posting was, OMG, think that one through...are Jon/Kate any different? Using their kids...the show, books, appearances...to get money to support a lifestyle and get free stuff? So, what't the diff between J&K and the druggie mom in the parking lot? Is this going too far? It's like I don't want my mind to go there, but the comparison is chilling.

But, man, there's just something so grating about that last show with the Whirlpools. It was so over the top, with the new frig, the new microwave, the new laundry equipment. It isn't even jealousy on my part...it's the way they obtain these things. Not by earning it, like on a real job; not by winning it in a contest or some such thing...what is it? Why does it bug me so much??? Is it Kate's smugness about it? It's so frustrating, I just can't watch this show.

Families are in desperation, with job loss, higher prices on everything; feeling so scared. Then you see this manipulation called "advertising" and this Gosselin family where the parents don't even seem genuinely grateful anymore for what they have..like it's their due...and it seems wrong. We're not idiots, we TV viewers...it's so transparent, and I agree with another poster who said it's like watching one big informercial/paid programming show.

If that's Jon and Kate's reality, as much as I, too, would love to get rid of my tired old appliances and maybe fix my furnace, they can have it. I choose to live with some shred of dignity.

That's What She Said said...

Jenna L- I'm not a religious person, but I think people who call her Christianity into question are not out of line at all. Kate is the one who makes a big deal out of being so "Christian" (even more so in the past, but I do know that her next book is filled with Bible verses??) and so naturally people are going to point out her hypocrisy. I'm American, and the part of the country that I am from, at least, people don't talk about their religion or try to make a show out of how Christian they are (or whatever religion they might be), as Kate always seems to do. I mean, post-it notes around the house with quotes from the Bible? Whatever, Kate. Anyway, my point is that I think posters who point this out are not out of line at all.

They have updated the pictures of the old house on the realtors website. They must have read here how to stage a house in pictures and made sure it was done right and not as sloppy as they were before. The price was reduced, i guess not a great market to sell in.

Wow, they left the piano. I'd be really mad if I was the one who donated it. They certainly have room in the new house for it - why not keep it for the tups?

I had to laugh about something I saw in another discussion here. I didn't see the promo, but it was something about Kate having a meltdown (later edited out) that the Whirlpool washer/dryer arrived with dents. Hey! She's getting free stuff! She has no right to complain! Seems to me that would have been an issue between TLC and Whirlpool and nothing to do with her! This shows me how far she's fallen...how she's developed this attitude of entitlement.

I don't like the feeling as if I'm joining a witch hunt but Jon & Kate Plus 8 is not a show of quality or entertainment or enjoyment for me any longer. Time is too valuable to waste on this kind of programming.

Thanks for the link. But, that's not really "staging" a house, that's cleaning it. lol If they staged it, there would be some furniture in there. Other than the appliances, the only thing it looks like they left were the shelves in the basement and the piano. Please tell me they didn't leave the donated piano. What a slap in the face! And, I guess she took her little island from the kitchen?!

Looking at those rooms listed - FIVE bedrooms, TWO and a half baths - yikes. Why in the world would Kate think they didn't have "enough room"? My aunt & uncle had one less child and had a three bedroom house - no family room, and only added a second bathroom when the kids were teenagers. I just don't get all that "I need, I need, I need"...

Lisak said...

Jan...,
That kind of looks like an air purifier in the pink room, we have one, but that one is a little smaller. It looks like to me they have painted and probably shampooed the carpets, but that is just cleaning. IMO they needed to leave a little furniture in each room to make it look more like a home. I guess Take found out no one wanted her post it notes, or did they want any memorabilia of her.

I went to the Oprah link mentioned and this is what I wrote:

Actually, I don't have a question for the Gosselins....I have a question for Oprah's staff. Why in the world are you featuring this family on your show? Have you not watched the show or researched their past? In a time when the world is up in arms about Nadya Suleman who had octuplets without being able to afford them, the Gosselins and their nearly identical story is glossed over. It's becoming very difficult to take shows like Oprah and Dr. Phil seriously and trust their judgment and reporting when it seems as though they are more concerned with the celebrity aspect of the Gosselin's story rather than the truth. In an interview with the 700 Club, Kate herself says that they could not afford their twins, yet alone sextuplets yet went forth with fertility treatments anyway. They have not been gracious to those who have helped them, they have alienated family. They have lied about money and employment issues. They are woefully irresponsible, Kate is shockingly rude and condescending to her husband. Please, someone tell me WHY IS THIS WORTH SHOWING? What happened to the Oprah that used to search for the truth, show uplifting stories and do some actual reporting on the background of guests. Was the author who lied not enough of a lesson? I'm just terribly disappointed.

Regarding the old house on the realtor's site...OMG, I covet that kitchen in their old house. The huge eat in area without carpeting (my current eat in area has carpet under the table, ugh).

And the laundry room? I would be in HEAVEN with a whole room for the laundry. We had to put the dryer in the garage because the previous owners of our house built shelves over the place where the dryer is supposed to go. Big, giant, painted-in shelves.

Katie Irene didn't know when she had it good. Now she has a bigger house to clean and obsess over (like she will actually clean it herself) and whine about.

When will the madness stop said...

Sorry I meant cleaned up. Yeah staging would mean furniture in the pics. Did you notice the realtor has changed also. I guess QFI fired the first or maybe the realtor wised up and said someone else take this because they were too difficult.

The thing above the window int he pink room is an air conditioner/heater. The "attic" which I don't know how that is counted in the rooms is not hooked up to the rest of the central air so it has its own system.

Wendy Bird said...

Jan said:

It looks like a built-in individual room air conditioner. The home has "central air," but when they turned the attic into the twins' room, it probably wasn't cost-effective to run new vents up there.

I'm shocked that she left the piano...but then again considering who it is, not really. Someone donated that to her, therefore she should have paid it forward and donated it to someone else. I'm sure there are some needy schools or music departments that could have benefited from that. Plus, Kon could have probably gotten a tax write off for it, because honestly that is the only reason they would ever donate anything. The only way they will give something is if they get something in return.

lifeoriley said...

As to the pics of the old house:
I agree with the other comment that stated why not keep the piano for the tups? Who knows if one of them may be musically inclined? It just seems so wasteful to leave it at the old house. Surely it is not going to greatly increase the value of the home (if at all). Also, the set of TWO almost new, high-end washers and dryers left in the old house bugs me. Why leave them both---why not at least take one set or donate a set to a needy family? For that matter, why not donate a practically new piano to a church or school if you have absolutely no use for it?
Many homes for sale in my area (PA) do not come with even one set of W&D--much less two. And a piano? Not really. Not unless the sellers are downsizing and cannot sell it otherwise or are moving so far away that they cannot justify the cost of moving so heavy an item.
And yet, this is the same person (Kate) who ripped into her husband for not using a coupon. Take about "penny-wise and pound-foolish."

I wonder if Mady and Cara will be in the next episode. I know its nice for them to have a break from filming and I'm really happy for them, but that would just stink if the whole family minus the two of them set out to get the new puppies. I'm sure they are just as excited about this as the 'tups (especially Mady since she likes animals so much.) They wouldn't get the puppies while the twins are in school or something would they???

Crystal said...

Also, I still don't believe that Kon still owns this house and are trying to sell it. I am pretty sure TLC bought it from them so Kon could use the cash and apply it to their new home (or even that condo in Utah or spray-tan treatments for Keight). Also, I think if Kon still actually owned it, they would have put it on the market as soon as they moved into their other home. Why wait until January? KON looks like the need-fast-cash-right-away people. I think that new house probably put a huge dent into their savings accounts and I can't see them willingly hold on listing their former house. I think that was another reason TLC bought it from them because then they could wait on listing it until the new Spring episode line-up was announced and the fact that KON actually did buy a new McMansion could no longer be ignored. I'm sure Kon made TLC pay $300-400k for their old house and now TLC has to list it really high to get their ROI back. I'm sure Kon both think that given their "celebrity" status, the house is fairly priced.

I've watched J&K+8 since the beginning. And like other have stated here these two (J&K) have changed a lot over the seasons (they record their lives in seasons you know). What I see today is Kate traveling a lot and when she's home Jon is gone. Each parent has their own style of parenting (I use the word parenting loosely with regard to these two). So here are the kids at home with one parent following that person's rules then the next day its the other parent's rules. No consistency between the two. The kids are clearly frustrated evidenced by the hitting, screaming, yelling, etc. What is acceptable to one parent isn't acceptable to the other. Now the tups are 4 1/2 years old, they're in their formative years, how are they going to behave further down the road? The twins had the advantage of being raised by Kate's mother while Kate was on bedrest in the hospital. Cara and Mady seem, my opinion, behave in a more age appropriate way. But not so much with the tups. I'm concerned for all the children and truly would like the show to end soon.

Two things.....

I am guessing that Kate left the piano at the old house and is somewhere "working her magic". You'll soon see a baby grand piano at the new house.

Moons in Leo said...

To those who have commented on leaving the piano: I am hopeful, perhaps delusional, that the piano awaits professional piano movers. Moving a piano is a delicate process. Even if it's not going to the Konpound, it may be going to someone's home where it will be played and appreciated.

I think thats exploitation of my children."

I mean, even this woman, who the whole world seems to hate recognizes that having a reality show based around your children is exploitation. AND to have Kate Gosselin on the "Expert Panel" of Dr. Phil when talking about Ms. Suleman?? I mean, COME ON Dr. Phil. Today I read on another blog that the previous owner's wife wrote a letter to TLC upset because of the insulting episode.

I am so happy that the last few episodes have been Cara and Mady-less. It's been so nice to know that they at least are getting a well deserved break from the cameras. Every time Mady would have an emotional breakdown, it would just wrench my heart. If her parents even took five minutes to hold her hands and look into her eyes and listen, truly listen to her, I would have been grateful. But I've never seen Jon or Kate take even one minute to listen to any of their children.

I have two kids, which isn't eight, but having any children is a challenge and I know that just acknowledging that they might have a legitimate reason for acting the way they do is enough. I just want Jon or Kate or somebody to look at any of their kids, (Cara or Mady the most though) and listen with every bit of their attention completely focused and maybe I would feel alright about this family.

It's been good to see at least Cara and Mady absent for a few episodes. It must be a nice break for them.

Inez said...

This is probably the most naive thing I've said and, I'm telling you, NO WAY am I defending them, because this reality show and Jon & Kate really irritate me, but could it be possible they're going to move the piano with a professional piano mover once the old house closes? Those are beautiful wood floors I think I saw in the new house, but could they be waiting to furnish the place til all the painting is done and area carpets in place before moving in the bigger items? Pianos, like good art which should be gallery-crated, need to be moved with great care. Surely they would not give up a beautiful, new, donated piano when it's not even known yet if one of the tups might have a propensity toward playing an instrument? I didn't take piano lessons til I was age 8, so there's still time for the tups to express interest in it.

This pains me in so many ways because, personally, I've never been able to afford a piano...yet I play, and love to play. These people are so lucky to be able to have these things for free; don't they see it? Geez, I'd be on my knees with gratitude if somebody gave me a free piano. If nothing else, they make a lovely piece of furniture and Jon & Kate have one really huge mansion to fill up.

Have they become so removed from everyday folks and everyday life? Is this what wealth does to people? If that's their new (elite) reality, it's going to be a lot to maintain, so be assured they're going to try to stay very, very visible...no matter how much we might want them to go off the air and off the shelves.

Heavens, it just hit me...do you think she's holding out for a baby grand piano for that very grand house?

Jeepers.

We've heard theories that the new puppies are to bring in a new cute fluffy creature onto the show (the tups are getting older), or that they're deliberately trying to make Kate flip over peeing on the rug, etc. But what if the puppies are also incentive for the twins to appear on the show? You know - "it's fine if you don't want to be on camera, but we're going to get the puppies without you."

That's a really good point Luey. As much as the twins dislike being on camera, there's no way they'd want to miss out on a special day like this one. How sad...

I'm watching Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell (waiting for Nancy Grace to come on). They are discussing Octomom and how TLC has issued a statement saying they have no plans to pursue a show with her. One of the pannelists was talking about how if someday she does score a reality show, we could be seeing a real-life version of the Trueman Show and get to watch these kids grow up. um HEELLLOOOOO........why oh WHY do people refuse to see that this is EXACTLY what the Gosselin's show is? Seriously? Octomom gets slammed for entertaining the idea of a reality show, yet Kate Gosselin is considered an "expert" on the talkshow circut because of her parenting skills? This makes me want to scream.

Isn't the room off the kitchen where they twins had their desks considered a bedroom? That would make the fifth.

I can't imagine why anyone would leave a nice piano like that. How can they be so sure one of the tups might not take up an interest in piano?

I'm hoping that they were waiting for the piano to be moved by a piano-moving company so that it can be tuned on delivery. I hope. If not, what a waste.

I cannot believe Oprah is doing another show with KON! Actually, I do because she now owns Discovery Channel and it is all a part of the big financial picture. Seriously, though - why are these people so untouchable and immune to criticism by the media? They basically wrote the "Guide to millions by having HOM" - and Nadya Suleman is being vilified while KON remain perfect, or "impressive" (according to Dr. Phil) examples of parenting? Why aren't people making that connection?

Can anyone tell me if anyone in the family had their "special day" yet this year? It seems like it's been a year. Was this truly a family tradition or merely another facade that went by the wayside when they moved to their new digs?
I don't know about you but I'd much rather see each individual child enjoying themselves with their parents and really showing their unique personalities. I have to agree that the current state of this show is both sad and not surprising.Fame is an unnatural atmosphere that does not make for a stable homelife. I think it's tragic that Jon and Kate have made trade-offs that benefit themselves and not their growing children.

Inez--where do you live? In the NJ area by any chance? I actually have a piano that I need to get rid of and was about to put it on Craigslist.

Has anyone noticed if the children had their "special day" this year? Hasn't it been a year since the first "special day"? I truly enjoyed the one-on-one attention the kids got with Mom or Mom and Dad. Their unique personalities really shone. I miss the direction of the show and basic premise. Each child is so different amidst the chaos and confusion.
Should I ask if Jon and Kate have reviewed their family mission statement? I'm sure Mady and Cara can read it for them even if they don't understand it.How far have they veered from the mission and their commitments of even a year ago? It's truly sad to see the trade-offs the parents have made to pursue more fame at the expense of their growing children.Maybe Jon and Kate should be watching the memorable re-runs to remind them of where their values should truly lay.

That mission statement probably ended up as a wadded up piece of paper lying on the garage or kitchen floor at the old house. Unfortunately, Mady and Cara are old enough to remember when mom and dad "adopted" the mission statement. Good life lesson J&K!

You know, I wonder why the Gosselins are the only ones that we think are exploiting their children, on these reality shows? Isn't it funny, that I don't feel like the Roloff kids are being exploited, when clearly some horrible behavior is forever on video tape, and they have no "secrets" either! Likewise, I don't feel resentment about the Duggars filming their family...why do you suppose that is? Why does it seem worse for the Gosselins to have a million dollar house, with a pool, than the Roloffs? Why do I think it is worse for Kate to talk ugly to her husband, than it is for Amy Roloff to speak ugly to her husband and her children?! What is it about Kate?

I think it is the hypocrital nature of Kate. The fact that she has such high standards for everyone, when she doesnt' meet the same standards herself. I think that is it. Amy Roloff doesn't pretend to be perfect, or doesn't demand perfection in her family.

The Duggars are just sweet. They teach us how we should behave. They don't demand we do behave. They are just loving and kind and make me ashamed that I am not!

Regarding Oprah and Discovery Communications (owners of TLC)...

Oprah Winfrey does (i)not(/i) own D.C., rather they're rebranding Discovery Health (Channel) -- (b)oddly enough, where KON started!!!(/b) -- as OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). Winfrey doesn't own OWN, but has great control over the new channel wearing her "brand".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_Health_Channel

So there's a slight Winfrey connection there and an invested interest in all things TLC, which I now refer to as The Freak Show Channel.

In regards to the piano being left in the old house, if I remember correctly, on one of the episodes where J & K "answered" viewers questions, Kate said that Cara no longer takes piano lessons and hasn't for a while. I believe Kate said that Cara actually only took a "few" lessons total. Also, Kate said she was sorry that she had chosen a black piano because it showed fingerprints. These may be two reasons why the piano was no longer wanted.

Judging from the preview, Cara and Mady will definately be in at least some part of the "puppy" episode. When Kate makes her dramatic statement about "getting, not one, but TWO! puppies", the tups don't seem to register any reaction but at least one of the twins can be heard giving whoops and shouts and leaps out of her dining room chair.

It's most likely because Queenie realized black showed too much dust and fingerprints. So she left it for someone else to deal with and will plead to another piano dealer to give her another one that doesn't show dustilies.

Or perhaps only a GRAND piano will suffice since they have moved on up like the Jeffersons. In any case, it's just another blantant show of how ungrateful she is.

To DIANE about the piano: Thank you for reading my post. I hope it didn't sound like I was hinting for a free piano. Good grief, I'd then be just like the ones I'm bashing! I was only trying to illustrate a point, but I think you know that. Thank you for thinking of me, but I've just moved into the tiniest bungalow ever, and I live thousands of miles from New Jersey; it wouldn't be feasible/cost-sensible (due to shipping costs alone--it costs a small fortune to ship a piano). I appreciate that you'd reach out, though, and I wish you good luck in your craigslist sale. I'm struck, once more, by the realization that a lot of really good-hearted, intelligent, concerned people post on GWOP and you're obviously one of them.

Not to drive it into the ground, but in thinking about the freebies again, I just don't think Jon and Kate value what they've been given; it's like they've become desensitized. I don't know them, of course, but something in their attitudes causes me to form that opinion. It's so troubling.

In my heart of hearts, I hope I read five years from now that the Gosselins, although having voluntarily withdrawn from the public eye for the health of their children and themselves, are living normally as one big happy, active, cohesive family. Wouldn't it be great if we could see a turnaround. I just love those Gosselin kids, but I'll say goodbye forever, for their sakes. Those precious little ones need some privacy, once and for all.

Kate did not have embryo's implanted. She went through fertility treatments that hyperstimulated her ovaries and then had IUI. That's how she ended up with 6. A good Fertility specialist would NEVER implant 6 embryos. Their goal is one healthy baby. If a mother ends up with twins, that is ok but HOM is Not the goal.

It took a month , but with work she socialized. They don't do this for their kids. I guess you couldn't expect them to do it for an animal. great comments everyone, sorry if i'm being random. The Gosselins are certainly not the only ones who are exploiting their children. The Gosselins are the only ones doing it in a misleading and fraudulent way.

Michelle and Jim Bob and Matt and Amy will also have to deal with the ramifications of inviting the cameras into their home at the expense of their children's privacy. Particularly the very young children who not of an age where they can voice an informed opinion on the issue.

The Gosselin children have been put in the position of being the sole providers for their family and they have been since they were tiny babies. The Roloff and the Duggar children have never been solely responsible for supporting their families. Their parents maintain businesses that will be in place to continue to support their families after their shows have ended.

The Gosselin children have been put in a position where they are under constant pressure to continue to support their family. Their family's entire financial situation is wrapped up in that show.

But, make no mistake. The children in all of these families are being used and therefore exploited.

I read the post about the Oprah show and their survey looking for mothers of multiples. I filled it out with my thoughts on bringing Kate back to the show.

here's what they are getting:

seriously, you can't possibly be doing another show with her. it's clear that she is out of control and you will do nothing but encourage her behavior. Please don't do this to her children. It was cute in the beginning, it's not anymore. Let these children have some sense of as normal as possible child hood by keeping them off of your show. I fear for their later years, especially teenage, when people know EVERYTHING about these kids, from potty training to puberty. It's got to stop somewhere, can't it be with you? Please, refrain from offering Kate a spot on your show. There are so many others who I would rather watch than her.

Kate kept the pass through loaded down with bibs and sippy cups and also used the island as a barricade to keep "hundreds" of people out of HER kitchen.

Hi Jenna - I know you are from Sweden, so I just wanted to point out that this is not the case, at least from my perspective as a non-Xtian. The populations of the majority of the largest metropolitan areas in the US are mixed religiously, and I assure you, christianity is not considered the norm in those areas. Perhaps in the "heartland" (i.e., middle of the country) where I assume many posters on this board live, there are a lot of christians and this is the norm? I don't know, because I live in New York City and am from Los Angeles, and in those areas, christianity would certainly not be considered the norm.

In any event, sorry if I sound like a weirdo, but this statement bothered me because it is not accurate, and I wanted to make sure that people in other countries understand that.

As for the Roloff's and their house, compared to J&K, having the TLC show has certainly helped them add that big addition but I'm sure we've all seen the very little ugly house that it was 20 years ago when they bought it.

It's also apparent, it has has had least two instances where they have done other major remodels to continually make the house bigger and these were way before TLC even became involved.

That's the difference in my opinion. They bought this little house and improved it as they could over a 20 some odd year span, like most other Americans would have done.

They didn't have this huge $1.4 million dollar house handed to them, nor do they have the attitude of Kate.

Great question!

I think all three familes exploit their kids. The problem with the Gosselins, however, is that they did/do it to the nth degree, above and beyond what the Duggars and Roloffs have done. You can sense with the D's and R's that there is a line they won't cross, but with the G's...anything is game( poop, nudity, emotional meltdowns, belittling, arguing, yelling, hitting, mocking, need I go on ).

The R's and D's actually have jobs and WORK, too, which softens the "in your face" feeling. The G's just flat out come off as mooches who shelter their kids from society ( unless dollars are being thrown their way, then they let the show ponies out ).

They all exploit their kids, true. It's just the G's go far overboard with it and are just plain not-likeable, very immature people, so they get the brunt of criticism.

I also think TLC / Figure 8 knows that with the R's and D's, if they start showing them in a bad light, game is over. TLC knows the G's love $$$ too much to ever pull out, so feel safer showing who they really are, warts and all.

This is what "me" thinks anyway :)

Kate's behavior seems to be so over the top, and Jon's reaction (cowering in the corner of the couch) equally overdone it's like bad acting in a B movie because they know people will be talking about it, and that's what keeps the gravy train going. They can't show Mady's meltdowns anymore because it's bad PR and (hopefully) Mady's refusing to be on camera. So ya gotta have drama, and Kon's gonna manufacture it for us: "Give 'em the ole razzle dazzle," at least until the giant hook appears to drag you off-stage. Whatever it takes, right Kon?

Amen!!!

I asked my 17 year old daughter last night, "How would you feel if I showed you pooping on a potty when you were three to the entire world, rerun after rerun, and I made money off that?"

She said she would be mortified, and probably would have run away by now and never spoken to me again.

The new puppies will be quite easy to train. How? By giving them ONE kibble when they pee outdoors; TWO, when they poop outside.

We all know how the Gosselin's run their house when the camera's are rolling... do you guys ever try and picture what the household does and how they act with one another when "the world" isn't watching. For some reason I can't get anything to come to mind. When they aren't getting a paycheck for doing plain everyday living, wouldn't it be hard to just live your normal life and not rack up the dollars? I picture them doing "nothing" and cannot get beyond that.

Roloffs vs Gosselins

I guess its because we see
the kids working on the farm- helping in the family business.

Matt and Amy both have jobs outside the show. If the show ended today, their lives will continue. They won't be a fish out of water.

The kids are bigger and can say no when they want.

The kids activites are not just for the show. They WOULD BE building a fort, playing soccer anyhow.

They do go on vacations, but they are nicer and appreciative about it. Its easier to enjoy them on vacations as their are no meltdowns.

Amy does yell at Matt, but its never about him breathing too hard.

Even if they didnt show their family on the show, at least they speak nicely about them.

Yeah they got a pool, but we saw Jeremy helping move dirt on a tractor.

I agree with whoever it was that said we should all write to Oprah about having these people on her show.

I think it could be done one of two ways; either to express our dislike of the exploitation and lies this family perpetuates, or to fill out the questionaire with things we would REALLY like to hear Oprah ask Kate. Maybe if she gets the idea that there are things some people do not know about this family and their history of freebies, she will ask some tough questions. I don't know.

At the same time, I have little faith in Oprah doing so. I think she is so wealthy now that she passed the point of identifying with the "average" American a long time ago. About the time I quit watching her show.

On another subject...there seems to be something really "dull" (for lack of a better word) about Kate these days in the interviews. It reminds me of the way antidepressants used to make me feel. I wonder if she is medicated and that is the reason for the change in her that people are noticing? It's almost like an inability to feel anything at all, and that's how those meds made me feel when I was on them for a short period of time

Just a thought...

____
That's exactly the strategy I used with Oprah. On the questionnaire, I typed in about 10 questions I want answers to. Example: You say there are no college funds for the kids. What about the funds the Governor of PA established back in 2005? -OR- How do you handle the children's earnings from the show? Is the money in a trust that they can access once they turn 18 or 21?
I'd like to think Oprah's stupid producers would get the message.

The reason that the D's and R's don't upset me as much as the G's is because they love their children equally and value them.

There is nothing that my little 4 year olds could do that would be bad enough to deny them a birthday cupcake. I would never make my bedroom off-limits to them. I would not brand some of my children as icky. Neither would the D's or the R's, in my opinion.

My letter to Oprah
Question for Gosselins How can you morally exploit and market your children, treat each other terribly, and then claim to be of Christian faith? Do you ever get tired of receiving freebies and special treatment? Have you ever stopped to consider the long term effects for the children?
Question for Oprah. Why would you have this family on your show-for ratings? This family is raising a family like millions of other people do, why are they so special? Oprah, I have a great deal of respect for you and the things your show does. Your show’s format is to give the public the truth. Do your research before continuing with the show idea. If you have the Gosselins on your show and make them out to be God's gift to parenthood, it will be the last time I will watch your show. Why don't you do a show how this show is exploiting their children and the effects on them? I am an early childhood educator and I can clearly see what damage this show is doing to these children. Oprah, do the right thing for these kids!!! Why don’t you get Dr. Phil to analyze this family
and give them constructive advice and not a 1000 gift card like he did last time.
Is this one of your favorite shows that you and your kids watch together?" ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!! I would not want my children to see how a wife verbally abuses and belittles her husband or parents treat their children with no respect or dignity by making fun of them or taking away their privacy, or parents who showing favoritism, greed and selfishness. The proof of this is on the tapes of their show....just watch and you will see.
Why are with people who have multiples treated with so much fame, because their womb produced more than the average? This fascination is what is causing girls to think if they visit a fertility specialist and get pregnant with multiples that they will be famous and get free things. That is the impression that Jon and Kate Gosselin, Nayda Suleman are giving to the public. The media needs to stop!

If you want to really get Oprah's attention, mention the dogs. Oprah is a huge dog lover and these days she seems to be more interested in the well being of her beloved dogs than human beings.
I lost interest in Oprah when she did a special that followed Monday Night Football, I think it was in Sept 2005.
And you know what the "special' was about?
The ground breaking news was broadcast from her "front lawn" which happened to be as ostentatious as it gets that she got a a couple new puppies over the summer! Wow Oprah, that was worth a primetime spot! This was about the same time that she and her 'best friend' Gayle went on a road trip and Oprah announced she didn't know how to pump her own gas (sound familiar?)

She did a show the other day about a whole family addicted to heroin. She says she doesn't understand have money for drugs but not for rehab. She is so out of touch with reality. While I don't condone what this family was doing, she didn't seem to understand the difference between spending thousands of dollars on drugs $10 at a time and forking over thousands of dollars to enter a rehab facility.
Of course this is all coming from a woman who can't even keep her own weight under control. Gee Oprah, I don't understand....why can't you just say no to food and keep your mouth shut and stop eating. What's the problem?

I love how Kathy Griffin says Oprah thinks she is "God" these days. I wish Kathy Griffin would do some material on Jon and Kate. She would tell it how it is.

Of all the years that Oprah Winfrey has been on the air, how many shows have focused on the topic of parents of multiples? There are many families of multiples that existed long before the birth of the Gosselin sextuplets and I dont recall Oprah ever dedicating a Q & A show focusing on these families. Are parents of multiples only worthy of Oprah's recognition when they are accompanied on stage with J & K Gosselin? Why a Q & A with J & K Gosselin? Why not the Harris family? The Dilley family? Or any of the other parents of multiples that have been featured as a documentary on the Discovery channel? It is my understanding that a good majority of parents of multiples find J & K Gosselin to be totally unrelatable and not a true or 'real' representation of what life with multiples is all about. I hardly think that these families NEED or require the presence of J & K Gosselin as their 'back up' to speak on behalf of THEIR OWN true life 'reality'. If the producers of the Oprah Winfrey show feel that there is an overwhelming interest to inform its viewing audience of the challanges faced by parents of multiples, Im sure there exists many parents of multiples that are of the credentials and experience to provide the viewing audience with all they need to know and save the J & K Gosselin self promotion for another show (like how to exploit your HOM for profit).

It's funny how the show has evolved over the season (oh wait...years). Not just the show, but Kate's attitude toward and how she sees the 'need' for the show as the cash cow for her family.

I think I finally understand why my feelings re:the Roloff's vs. Gosselin's have flipped in the last few years.

When the shows first came on. I preferred Jon & Kate. Matt Roloff seemed like an asshat to me. Kate was someone who's patience I aspired to gain.

I'm rewatching the 2nd half of the return to Iraq episode. Matt states that they have had many blessings and want to share them. He understands that giving a child who just had major leg surgery was a ridiculous idea at the time, but, in time they would enjoy it.

Kate on the other hand wants us to believe that she and Jon work for everything they have and none of it is a blessing.

As stated above the R's continue to work, really work. Amy still works at the daycare and Matt does some form of work out of his office. We don't know exactly what that is, but, it seems to be enough to employ 2 people. They don't hide the fact that they employ those persons. Nor do they hide the fact that they have farm help. Their farm is a working farm and they show it to be. They also show that their families help out on the farm.

J & K are just trying to make us think they are the same as you and me. They are not. We work for our money and live within our means. We don't have alot of children and expect for the Commonwealth of PA to pay for them. I have 2 kids, they are my responsibility. I did not have more because (1) I do not have the patience for more, in fact, I waited almost 7 years for the second so I could handle it sanely and (2) I cannot afford to properly support more than 2 children.

If the TV interviews, etc. are work, then state it clearly as
"we are blessed to be able to work part-time doing interviews, church talks, etc. to support our family. We know that this opportunity is only due to the success of the television show about our family."

I have not been to one of their church talks and really have no interest in attending one as I prefer my time in the Lord's House to be a peaceful time of reflection. I feel as if I attended a "talk" I would be highly stressed and that is not in keeping with my faith.

I like seeing the kids, but, I hope that once the 'tups start Kindergarten in August, they stop shooting a weekly show.

Also, I had a similar cut as early as 2004 and kept it through early 2007. I, personally, had many compliments on the do. In fact, a woman stopped on the road at the end of my driveway to compliment me. I'm not sure how she actually saw it as I was all the way at the other end of my garage doing laundry...the only thing I can think is she saw me previously and noticed I was out. Kate's do is looking more and more ridiculous every day though.

So this past week on TLC's "reality" shows, here is what happened:

Matt Roloff went back to Iraq, where he was instrumental in arranging leg surgery for two children. It sounded as though the surgery would, in the long run, save the life of one of the children.

The Duggars went to South America to give to the needy.

Jon and Keight got free furniture.

Interesting...

I understand that you all think you are doing something important by "revealing" Jon and Kate's "true side" to the public. However, at the end of the day, people who donate things to them, give them free things, etc are doing it for the same publicity that you lam bast Jon and Kate for receiving. These kids aren't being abused or uncared for. In fact, they have more than those kids. Since you all watch and hang on every Jon and Kate show, you may have noticed that 18 Kids and Counting show that is on TLC now...another blog perhaps? It is really clear to me that the only reason they choose German Shepards is their intimidating appearance, and I'm sure it would have been a warning to any strangers showing up at their doorstep. I get it, but what about the kids wants and needs for a loving pet and not a guard dog.

When you are comparing the Roloff's and the Gosselin's, don't forget to compare the surgeries. Jon gets hair plugs, Kate gets tummy tuck and liposuction but Zach gets a shunt repaired and a leg straightened.

I'm wondering how all the sheeple are going to defend Kate's book 8 Little Faces? Yes the kids are cute but what mother sells photos of her children? Thats just weird, its like selling your scrapbook.

They will defend it the way they defend EVERYTHING Kon does. With denial and spin. If they can't outright deny it, then they will twist the situation to their liking. Jon and Kate have this Teflon invisibility cloak which seems to excuse them from inexcusable behavior. Kate signs her $20 outdated photo and shoves it in a fan's face without looking at her- "Oh, she's just sooo tired" the sheeple insist. Jon, while picking up his free Gap doesn't make eye contact with the clerk or answer her compliment- "It must be so hard for them to run errands without getting mobbed by fans." the sheeple cry. Kate, who has broken every one of Dr. Phil's rules of parenting AND being a loving spouse ON NATIONAL TV, is treated by Phil like a prestigious expert while he simultaneously kisses her butt.

The sad fact is, money talks. As long as KON has a rabidly faithful following who clamor to own and use the same things KON does, the show will continue. Dr. Phil's ratings are down so in order to pick up sheeple viewers, he'll go along with the farce that Kate is an expert at raising a large family. I can't help but wonder if 3 or 4 years ago in a better economy, would TLC put up with them? I also can't help but feel sick that KON may be prospering as a result of the bad economy while many, many others work so hard but are struggling.

"Love is in the MIX"? Sounds like she's not cooking from scratch! What makes Kate an authority on food? We've seen her shop for food, once... Will we be treated to edible playdough, pancakes cut with a pizza cutter (I laughed so hard when she tried to cut that gross cheesy chicken on crusty bread that Mady and Cara had to make with it), sugary cereal snacks, cinnamon rolls, Jon's Asian-Hawaiian dishes, and pitas with hummus, onions, tomatoes, and parsley? Oh right, and various soups made from carcasses as well as benign sandwich creations. She's also proven she can't follow a recipe - i.e. disgusting chocolate mess that Mady and Cara's cooking class mastered without a problem. Hope they employed a test kitchen!

I buy cookbooks put together by dietitians and nutritionists, or by renowned chefs! I also have collections of recipes put together for church and school fundraisers or for specific appliances like my crockpot or the bbq. What niche of the market is Kate capturing - the "we have eight kids and can't multiply a regular recipe to get 10 servings"? Given that Kate finds cooking to be a chore and goes out of her way to keep anyone from helping - I fail to see how "memorable" her meals are. If the kitchen is the heart of the home, her's has a cold stainless-steel heart to match those free appliances.

OK, I just caught up with my Sunday afternoon net surfing. Uncovered some info which was alluded to on a post on last weeks recap. I mentioned in a post a few minutes ago about the lengths the sheeple will go to to defend KON. I never thought they would go that far or be that blind. The higher these fans put KON on the pedestal, the more devastating it will be for them to move on when it all comes crashing down.

Kudos to the mods for leaving certain things alone. We ARE here for those dear kids and you gals have just proved it. {{hugs}}

SIGHTING:

My sister spotted Kate at the local Giant this week. She couldn't stop talking about her tan and how dark it was. I wonder if she has gotten herself a tanning bed.

Was Kate accompanied by the presence of her 'body gaurd'? Or was that demonic glare that beams from her eyes enough to keep the fans at a distance?

So this past week on TLC's "reality" shows, here is what happened:

Matt Roloff went back to Iraq, where he was instrumental in arranging leg surgery for two children. It sounded as though the surgery would, in the long run, save the life of one of the children.

The Duggars went to South America to give to the needy.

Jon and Keight got free furniture.

Interesting...

Personally, the last time I bought a cook book was when I finished college. I bought an Amish cook book that taught me how to do just about everything from scratch. Everyday, I use something that I learned from that book.

Since then, whenever I want to make something, I just look it up on the internet.

What I find amusing is that Kate, the Grand High Priestess Of Coupon Clipping And Money-Saving Nonsense, wants the sheeple to BUY her book when, if she really knew how to save money, she'd recommend they get it from the library.

Is there a list somewhere showing all the free things they have received? I mean an official list and not a list someone created assuming free items.

As a dog trainer I am very worried about these two "adults" trying to care for two puppies/dogs. German Shepards are guard dogs and also herding dogs, they were bred to guard the flock. They need lots socialization outside of the family, now how are the dogs going to get socialization when the kids barely get that? I don't worry about the dogs with the kids, but if any stranger dare come into the Konpound there could be a problem. I don't think Kate would be too happy if the dogs run off the cameras! The dogs also need ALOT of discipline or they will walk all over everyone in the house. That is if they are even allowed in the house, dogs can be very "icky" you know. Herding dogs are not recommended for families with young kids, they will try to herd the kids, even going as far as nipping at their heels. That may make life easier for Jon; he can just sit on his tractor with a beer while the dogs herd the kids around the property. How fun for them! I have a feeling the dogs are for show purposes and when the show is over the dogs will be gone, tossed aside like the rest of the loved ones in the kids lives. Then the dogs will be in a shelter unable to be adopted because of lack of socialization, training, and obedience. Maybe they will bring Cesar Milan in to screw up the dogs even more! Frauds meet fraud! Oh my!

"Many homes for sale in my area (PA) do not come with even one set of W&D--much less two. And a piano? Not really. Not unless the sellers are downsizing and cannot sell it otherwise or are moving so far away that they cannot justify the cost of moving so heavy an item."

but don't forget that many homes for sale in Pennsylvania in this economy are not so overpriced as the Gosselin's. I think even with two sets of washers and dryers and a piano it is still way too much. I also have a feeling the piano is probably advertised "for sale" somewhere and the listing handout for anyone coming to see the house will specifically state that the piano is not included. I just cannot imagine that Kate would give anything away that she could get a couple of bucks for. After all she does need to set money aside for her monthly spa visits.

I just wanted to say "You are Welcome" to everyone who thanked me for the clip. I know it wasn't great quality, but it sure was funny!

I finally figured out who Jon reminded me of today. I've been watching "Little House on the Prairie" with my daughter. Jon is a spitting image of Mr. Olson, and Katie Irene is definately Mrs. Olson. Poor Jon, he's such a wuss.

The clear difference to me between the Roloff's, Duggars and Gosselins are the children. The R & D kids are smiling, happy and appear to be thriving. The G kids look miserable. There is constant crying and fighting. I have never seen such epic meltdowns in the Duggar family probably b/c the children are taught appropriate behavior. The G kids are rarely spoken to in a kind and loving way, yet the other two speak very sweet to their kids. Also, the R & D children are lucky to have lots of extended family and friends in their lives...sadly it looks like the G children are lacking in that as well.

Holy cow, you just reminded me of something she said one time on the show!! When Jon was making his Korean dinner, there was this whole argument when, apparently, Kate mixed up the onions or whatever, and he had to spend a long time separating them since the recipe called for the onions to be separated, etc and whatnot. Kate then has to have the last word, as w/everything, and throws out a, "if you have to follow a recipe you're not a true cook".

So why then would she come out with a cookbook?! Haha, I have no major connection here, but I guess you could spin it as she's insulting housewives calling them, "fake cooks" or something, lol. Of course, the same could be argued against Rachel Ray having cookbooks, since she never really measures ingredients on her show either.

Here's a youtube video to serve as reference to her comment:

I don't think he looks like Mr. Olson at all. And Mr. Olson would stand up to his wife and put her in her place when need be. Jon never stands up to Kate.

Cesar Milan seems to be wanting you to buy his book or tapes on dog training. I don't care for his style. I like Victoria Stillwell from Animal Planet's "It's Me Or The Dog". The show really teaches you and like she says, set your dog up for success. Puppies take a huge amount of time and care, something I don't see coming easily from the Gosselins. Can't Kate ever say anything using the term "our" (as in "I got our puppies") instead of my, mine or me?

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone had visited TLC's web site a few months ago. Around 2 or 3 months back on TLC's website a beautiful blue playroom popped up on their main page. The playroom had round tables for children and other toys. They have since removed the picture from their website, but I couldn't help thinking it may be the new playroom for J&K's new house. Please let me know if you saw it. Thanks!

I saw the movie Coraline today and the 'other mom' had a version of that ridiculous do.

---------------------------

Haha, you're right! Speaking of Coraline, both versions of her parents actually remindeded me quite a bit of Kon. Especially the "Other Parents" though. "Other Mother" seems pretty nice and super-momish at first (and gives Coraline a lot of material items) but she is revealed to be a control freak who only wanted Coraline and the other children she captured there to make HER happy and so she could suck the life out of them. And the "Other Father" just did everything she told him too and was completely spineless.

Anyway, it's a great movie. Their house reminds me a bit of the new Konpound too.

This clip was disturbing to me, it's right after the puppy clip, the kids act out the videos that they've already been in, and pretend to be "Jon & Kate", not mom and dad. Is it just me?

I absolutely agree with you. I cant remember the last time I bought a cook book. The time tested cook books ie, Betty Crocker and Good Housekeeping that have been ever present in our family for generations is all I have ever needed for the basic go to for cooking/baking. A quick google search and you can gain access to practically every recipe imaginable. IMO, there is absolutely no use in spending $29.99 on a 'coffee table' type cook book that will more than likely spend more time collecting dust than serving an actual purpose in the kitchen or results on the dinner plate.

A few observations watching the webisode over on TLC about the puppies and the show when they moved from the very first house to the second house. (they house they just moved out of)
1)The kids Christmas present this year were puppies. I thought Jon said that this kids Christmas this year was that they were getting a family gift and that was a computer. Seems like that was not quite true.
2)It is sad to hear Kate say that it is a HUGE sacrifice for the family to get a dog since she could go her whole life without a dog. Another sacrifice that mother of the year is making.
3) It is sad to hear Jon say that he gets frustrated with them ( speaking about the dogs)like everything else, but at the end of the day loves them very much. I hope we don't see that frustration on the show as we see the frustration he has with the kids.
4) Jon was describing the square footage in the new house they were moving into, and I guess did not quite get the measurements right. Kate said something about Yea and you caught a four feet fish too. Her next comment was about Jon's lies starting again or coming back. Interesting... she made it sound like the lying started way before Jon and Kate Plus Eight.

Hi every one,
1. Mom of 2: I've also wondered why I don't think the things about the R's & D's? I think it's because both families seem more down to earth than J&K. Neither families beg like J&K. Both families seem to try to help to support their families (I know they get paid for the show) the D's give out family photos for free & graciously.
2. C.P.mom: God gave me less children & no one wants to give me a show:)
3. Maria: Thank U! It was the D's. Now I remember seeing the oldest son's wife.

I haven't bought a cookbook recently either - not since Janet and Greta's Eat, Shrink, and Be Merry! Love Looneyspoons, I think it's a new classic. Canadian Living has some neat little cookbook publications. I look for new ideas and specialty cooking instructions, not rehashed meatloaf. I could probably look things up online, but I'm a bit of a bibliophile. Once I try a recipe (diligently followed), I tweak it or sub out ingredients for others I have on hand, but I don't pass those recipes off as my own, cough cough Kate.

I agree with Kay, I think there is something different going on this season - fame and fortune wearing on Kate?? It does seem during their couch sessions (and other clips) that she is extremely unhappy. I remember she and Jon used to sit close to each other on the couch, now it's like they can't get far enough away from each other.
