I wish we could take a sneak peek at the contents. Since Katie Irene can't speak coherently I don't suppose she can actually write coherently.

Maybe it's got a "Dick and Jane" format?

I know you can preorder a CD & it will sometimes have a lower price than if you bought it at the store.

I'm not sure what kind of "moms journey" Kate has to share with all of us 'cuz haven't we seen it all unfold?

Now I don't know if that is Kate's actual signature but I found this on a handwriting analysis site...

The writer's energy is primarily funneled into the area of his demanding conscience, represented by the dominating upper zone, as well as middle zone angularity and contraction of middle zone letters, particularly of ovals. His ambitions and beliefs control his life. However, upper zone covering strokes and middle zone vowel covering strokes point to the existence of the writer's hypocrisy in these areas of life.

I can't believe there can be any worthy content to this 'book'. How can Kate share words of encouragement, trust, and joy (from the back cover per Amazon) with the public that would be genuine since she doesn't appear to share them with her husband or kids? Actions speak louder than words.

Whoever buys this 'scrapbook' has more money than sense.

What could she possibly have to say that we haven't already heard? I think it's going to be a waste of time all around. Another book so close to Multiple Ble$$ings, just doesn't make sense. But then again, Kate doesn't make sense. Why isn't Jon an author too? Didn't he have something to do with making the children?

What's next?
A J&K+8 coloring book? Paper dolls maybe?
I guess the one saving grace here is that since the book contains *comments* we know it's within the realm of possibility that she actually wrote this one without any help.
I hope she remembered to use spell check though!

Sorry, but I think it's weird to purchase pictures of other people's kids. (cough, cough $20 family pictures). It's the same thing as all the fans who make videos of the kids for YouTube.

I'd rather buy picture frames from Target and look at the pictures with which they came.

Yes, it is common. I have bought books on-line 6 months in advance of release...but my credit card was not charged until the book was actually sent out. I can't imagine why anyone would buy this book in advance, but...

As a retired nurse, it appalls me to think of Kate taking care of anyone I care about. Nurses have to be compassionate, caring, patient, and be able to dole out huge amounts of TLC to total strangers. Kate is unable to do this with her husband and children. She would not be allowed to put a vomiting patient on a cold floor. Lordy be, I hope when her license came up for renewal, she tore it up. Of course now that she is making the big bucks off her kids, there should be no need for menial work.

Chris said...

She's milking this for all it's worth isn't she? I guess there's a reason why the kids pics on the cover are when they were a few years younger (and more cuter?) She knows they're not going to be marketable much longer. By the time the book comes out, they'll be 5 and not resembling those chubby cheek toddlers much anymore...

GrammyPie,

I agree with you 100%. I would not want Kate taking care of anyone I care about. How in the world would Kate react in a "code blue" situation? I'm sure she would have a huge meltdown in front of everyone.

The only place that Kate should work is in the morgue.

I find it extremely disturbing that Kate Gosselin thrives on outward validation, in the form of monetary compensation at the expense of exploiting her own children. IMO, when Kate Gosselin looks in to the eyes of her children she sees nothing more than dollar signs.

I don't when it was the last time you worked in a hospital but there are many nurses that have none of the qualities you listed. My mom recently went through a serious illness and was in two hospitals and two rehabs and then a nursing home. While there were some excellent nurses many were just in it for a paycheck. It was the shock of my life, because I assumed everyone who went into nursing cared about sick people. Many do it today because it is pretty much a recession proof job. Sorry but after what my family went through and some of the experiences I had with nurses I felt your comment needed to be addressed. We had some that made Kate look like Mother Tereasa.

What is the fascination with these people? I mean it is unusual to have such a large family obviously, and the whole multiple birth thing is rare of course. But what's the big deal? Yeah the kids are cute, whatever. My kid is cute, too, and I'm not out there taking her to auditions, getting her an agent, etc. I would never do that to my child.

Just the fact that Kon is taking away privacy and a normal life from these children is horrendous. It's so unfair.

So sorry to hear about the poor nursing care your mom received. I will agree that most nursing homes leave a lot to be desired, and there are some nurses (like I imagine Kate was), who are not as caring as they should be, but by and large, most of us "old timers" were in it for the love of the job, and the love of people. Hopefully those nurses you had the bad experiences with, have moved onto something they are better suited to.
Again I apologize for the nurses who have been less than stellar.

Hip Hip Hooray!

Now, I'm not a graphic designer, but if I were trying to do some cutesy type face for that book I would have used the "8" for the B. Just sayin'.

What a publisher wants you to charge per book copy is often not what the book is sold for especially through large retailers like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. It's like a MSRP in a car dealership.

qtrfan said...

This is not in defense of Kate, however, I have to believe in the early days, she was surrounded by people that continually told her how AWESOME and amazing she was (before her true personality became apparent). She took that hype to heart, and the Kate we see today was born. That is why she thinks the entire world is waiting to read her every word.

The staff around her now have to continue to stroke her ego or they are gone. Which explains all the people that are gone from her life.

"why would I wanna purchase pictures of someone else's kids ?? and why would any mother think it's appropriate to sell them to strangers??"

If anyone had any doubts about the Gosselins exploiting their kids, this book proves it. The only reason to sell your children's photos is to make money. Period.

"By the time the book comes out, they'll be 5 and not resembling those chubby cheek toddlers much anymore..."

Yep, they're aggressively marketing their "brand" (ugh) now, while it's most appealing. Kids have an unfortunate tendency to grow up, and since the Kon game is "look at all these babies we have to care for," they need to market that baby cuteness factor as long as they can. Reminds me of the play/movie, "Gypsy," where the stage mother Mama Rose makes her daughter, Dainty Jane, play the same part as a little girl in their stage show long after she's outgrown it.

Who in this universe would want this book? Oh, yeah, someone here gave it to themselves for Christmas. Sorry about that. Free will and all that, of course.

The kids just aren't any cuter than the kids I have or the kids down the street at this point. Their appeal was that there were so many of the same age. Now they are just, you know, a bunch of screaming brats with terrible parents. Who wants to watch or pay for that?

I can understand why someone would want to write a book that contains inspirational devotions, as many often refer to books as a source for inspiration and enlightenment. However, I do take issue with Kate utilizing photographs of her own children as the means to 'market' the book. If Kate has something inspirational to offer to the extent that she feels the public would be interested and or inspired by in what she has to say , the context should be limited to that of HER OWN inspiring and credible words and not those taken from other sources ie, the 'word of God' and translating them as a means for self serving profit. IMO, Kate does two things very well; she exploits her children as well as interprets and translates the 'written word' of the Bible for the purpose of self serving profit!!!!

brandleymom: Can you imagine how much Gosselin photos are a desired commodity. The utterly sad part is that in a lot of cases pictures of the tups' don't even have any need to photoshop it - its all right there.

Your post is so heartbreaking and 100% accurate. Most people don't even know the kind of thing that you descibed even goes on. I know I didn't until a few months ago. This is not speculation or an exaggeration. Someone who tracks this kind of thing and is an expert on this subject matter has said:

"best case scenario--they end the show and move out of the country."

This is how dire the situation is for the children.

Selling off your kids takes on a whole new meaning when viewed in this light. With tears in my eyes, both for the things I have seen, and their foolishness as parents, I cannot fathom what they are thinking.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Teryn your post was absolutely hilarious!! Thanks for making my afternoon.

I really think that Kate signed a multiple book deal. It's very usual for someone to sign a 2 or 3 book deal and I doubt a cook book is far behind.

Anyways, this new book is pretty much all I expect from Kate. A picture book with devotionals that she is allowed to plagiarise from the bible. It's like writing by numbers!

GrammyPie, bless your heart! You are undoubtedly one of those nurses who are saintlike! All of us who have ever needed a nurse, or whose family and/or friends have received the care of a nurse, or who will ever in our lives be cared for by a nurse (nearly every soul on earth), say a heartfelt and emphatic "THANK YOU"! You shouldn't have to appologize for others in your profession who are "less than stellar" and yet you do because you take great pride in the nursing profession and obviously strive to be the best nurse possible. I thank you.

This upcoming book is an easy and quick one for Zondervan and Kate to churn out. Choose 24 pictures, pick 24 popular Bible verses, and have someone 'edit' what Kate wrote as commentary for the 2 page spread.
It sounds like it's not much more than a glorified nighttime Bible verse, storybook for kids.

We'll all know for sure when it its the stores in April, but I hope noone is holding their breath that this is going to be a literary blockbuster. I'm giving it a pre-release ranking as a picture, Bible verse book which will only bring in sales from the churches who continue to book them for speeches and their tv followers - and that's not many. I wonder what kind of advance Kate got for this one?

bradleymom said...

Thank you to "The Truth Will Set You Free" for the support of my comment. Most people do view this sort of information as an "exaggeration or specualtion". If only it were so. Most people don't even want to know about these things, and I can't blame them. The only benefit of knowing is to understand what is out there and constructively use that information to protect children.

I have hope (sadly, not much)that this avenue of information and reality might might be the thing that finally gets the Gosselins' attention. The "It's a Wonderful World" song is nice in theory, but that unrealistic view does not exempt parents from educationg themselves about the ugly things in our world. When you put your children in the limelight - through TV, books, and the internet - you are exposing them to all walks of life.

These people of varying "walks of life" have a huge range. Dealing with the low, twisted end of the spectrum, and their victims, results in a high burnout rate for the people that have to see it. Most people that are in any helping profession, that deals with such atrocities, can only hear and see so much before starting to feel it is eating them alive. It is such a catch 22. You want to help and make at least a dent in the problem, but you can't allow yourself to be lost and consumed by it, and become a fearful person. You then run the risk of becoming depressed and useless to your own children!

Nurses, just like doctors, take an "Oath." It's known as "The Nightingale Pledge."

When my dad was in ICU (intensive care unit) he had some of the best nurses I have ever seen. He called them "his angels". That was last year. To this day, those nurses still stay in contact with my dad. He either goes to the hospital to visit them, or they come to his home to see him. Those nurse have become part of our family.

IMHO, appears Kate has "forgotten" the Pledge she took as a Nurse.

You may think it's cute and funny but you're contributing to the exploitation. These are real live innocent children not characters on a television show.

You know the one thing I have been thinking about a lot lately is Kate's temper. You know how when your mother would yell at you in front of someone and you got so embarrassed which made it so much worse? The tups are too young to understand that everything they do including being disciplined is going to be on tv but they do know that Scott and the others are there as they are being yelled at by their mother.
Remember when Hannah was folding laundry and she kept glancing at the camera? Imagine her or any of the others glancing at the camera while they're being yelled at by their mom or dad. They're so embarrassed! Those poor kids! What horrible parents! What horrible network TLC is for allowing this to continue and I guess now we can include Oprah in our thanks!

As with any profession, nursing has its share of good and bad and I've known nurses in both categories.

I've always thought that in order to perform their work, nurses need a veneer of neutrality. Sometimes that translates into indifference.

When a nurse is good, she/he is very, very good and when they're bad, they can be horrid.

I see that Multiple Blessings is dropping on the best seller book list. It doesn't look like very many people will be giving or getting the book for Christmas. I'm sure that Kate is not happy about that. Perhaps she thinks her next book will be a better seller, but I doubt it.
If any of the children write a book, (and I'm more than sure they will) I will be the one of the first to read it. Mady is probably going to be the first one with a book. I can't wait!

pickle said...

I wonder if Kate's next book venture (after the cookbook) will be a children's book? Ugh. I can kind of see that. Think of all of the celebrities who have "written" children's books. I could see Kate's name on a book coming out (not that she would have actually written it herself) and it could be something about the adventures of 8 little Gosselins or something like that. It could be a whole series. God forbid!

Or, I could see her continuing to pimp her kids out and have Mady and Cara "authoring" a children's book. Anything to keep the money rolling in and to stay in the public eye.

Karen said...

Now, we all know that she only had this book published so the kids could look back at pictures of themselves when they were cute. Otherwise, how would they have a record of their childhood? Kate doesn't approve of photo albums or hanging pictures on the wall, from what we see on the show, so this is the only record those poor children will ever have of their happy, HAPPY HAPPY DO YOU HEAR ME IT WAS HAPPY! childhood.

Janice said...

I don't really have a problem with that if it's in the best interest of the child. If modeling/acting something a child wants to do I think it's fine, but there's a correct way to go about it (I won't go into great detail). What the Gosselins are doing IS NOT the correct way to go about it.

I had an uncle in "the industry" so I sorta fell into doing bits & pieces. My parents priorities were the "big 3" came first: church, family & school. I didn't work if it interferred with those 3. By taking the twins out of school it's apparent that Kate's prioritity is "the show comes first" which is totally wrong.

There was a photo contest that the Gap was running where your child could be the "new face of Baby Gap or Gap Kids". So many people said my son should be brought down to the mall for the contest and I said NO WAY! Let's just say he won....my son is pretty cute (but there are lots of beautiful kids) then he would have basically a poster-sized picture of himself in every BabyGap window in the country and would be in print ads and online. Sure, we would win a year's worth of clothes and the cache of saying he's a model, but my son's privacy is more important to me than any prize.

Kate and Jon seem to think that selling their image in any format possible to make a buck is their right. But my son has an inherent right to privacy that I respect. I wish more parents would think of their kids as people before possessions to be bought and sold.

There are too many weirdos out there, and my son's image is not for sale. Makes me sick...

This is NOTHING like an impersonal Anne Geddes calendar.

-----------------------------

I agree. I mean in that case, there is privacy. One does not know the child's name (unless they are pretty famous) and address. That information is going to be pretty difficult to find out unless one has connections with the agency. With the Gosselins, there is so much information readily available about them. People know where they live and lots of personal details. A good parent of a child model/actor (or of the sort; such as reality star) is going to go to great lengths to keep that information private.

KON needs to make as much money as possible. How else will they be able to afford their children's future therapy and rehab bills? Unless those will be donated to them for free too.

What about a Kate doll that comes with accessories like: a white plastic chair and a silver plate for the "love offerings".
