Ok, even before this airs on TV I have to comment this.

The episode description says it all, doesn't it?

"...The entire Gosselin clan heads to New York City for the day, embarking on a press tour to promote their new book..."

Oh, so they've changed the cover of the book to include the kids as authors now? Because I see no reason why any one of those 8 children should be made to do any kind of promotion, be it a book that BETH CARSON wrote, or a show JON AND KATE signed a contract for.

According to Jon Gosselin "I will do whatever I have to do to protect my children". Then do it! Grow a pair already. And stop selling your family out.

From the promo it looks like the kids had a great time in the park !!!

So how many are going to boycott Wii since they "obviously got it for free" !!!!

Have they said anything about Beth yet? After all, she did co-author the book! Fill me in...I just walked in the door and turned it on...thanks!

Cassie said...

I love this line..."It's nice to get away from home every now and then." Are you kidding me???? Given the last handful of episodes, the Gosselin clan doesn't even remember what "home" looks like!

I get the feeling that Kate seems rather peeved during the couch interviews on this show too. I bet she's reading what people honestly know about her.

tmc said...

I can't believe she got so upset about the lollipops. To say it wasn't a good idea in front of all those people in the lobby. She is so selfish. Imagine how the office worker who gave them the lollipops felt. She is so ungrateful. Oh yeah, KON was saying how everyone enjoys the book and it's doing well. Well I saw it in Sam's Club and it only costs about $10.00. I didn't buy it, nor would I, but that doesn't sound like a "Best Seller" to me.

Anonymous said...

Oh boy.

ANOTHER episode showcasing ANOTHER freebie trip.

So... where are they next week?

tmc said...

Just one more comment ..... Every one of the kids as "wanted". What the hell does that mean???? How insane!!!

Anonymous said...

I cannot get over her hair! Does she not look in the mirror? It looks terrible! Kate, please, please, please do something about the right side of your head.

Wii...gee whiz...another freebie. It just annoys me that the more well to do people get the most free stuff. This is my opinion of anyone...not just J&K.

Anonymous said...

I haven't seen the show, as I stopped watching several weeks ago, but I wonder...did the get the Wii for free or did Jon buy one? It seems like one thing a computer geeky person like Jon already might own. After all a lot of the games are for adults as well. I'm definitely NOT a fan of Kon. But I wonder about this one.

Denise said...

She just corrected Jon when he called it "her book". She said "OUR book" but she didn't meant Beth.....

Anonymous said...

Kate says that she likes to build in special rewards on trips to NY....lollipops, trips to the park and BROADWAY SHOWS? Nice reward for 4 year olds!

Anonymous said...

She just said "We always go to Central Park." How many times have they been to NYC?

Anonymous said...

Hair looks a little striped. Is that look still in? I don't know.

Laura in Nebraska said...

So would Kate be treating and bribing the kids to behave with broadway shows if she had to pay for them out of her own pocket and she wasnt being compd with all the "treats". What a snake.

highondegrassi said...

Wow, no mention of Beth co-authoring the book at all. I would a talk show would get HER on their show.

They're still using sippy cups...whatever.

Carrie said...

"I'm in New York so often, it's not out of the ordinary. It's just work."

But wait, I thought the whole reason that J&K+8 wasn't exploiting the kids was because it afforded them the opportunity to have both parents at home! Maybe Kate ought to read TLC's press releases before she talks on the show!

And, if they're so bored by the trip to NY, why in the world do any of us want to watch it?

Denise said...

I was more worried about the kids riding loose in the bus with the lollipops than I was about them not being organic. One quick stop and there could have been a tragedy.

Anonymous said...

Enough of " I wrote this so my kids can see they were all wanted". You can do that everyday by treating them like the precious gifts they are.
I think I have rolled my eyes a dozen times over something Kate has said tonight. Please! I think she says things to convince herself that what she does is right.

Anonymous said...

Surprise, Surprise. Kate holds Hannie in the buggy ride.

K.Barrett said...

They're taking a horse drawn carriage ride and Hannah is sitting on Kate's lap! Wow, what a shocker LOL!

Anonymous said...

Why does Jon have to keep explaining Central Park? I guess they think it was created just for them, and there is no way anyone else would go there! LOL If everyone else can talk about Kate's hair....I get to say.... Kate no more hip hugers with your love handles hanging over your belt...please!!!!!!!!!!

Diane said...

She just corrected Jon when he called it "her book". She said "OUR book" but she didn't meant Beth.....

Yup I found that interesting because in the beginning of the show she referred to it as "my book tour".

Anonymous said...

My son tells me the Wii game they are playing came out yesterday...hence they had it well in advance of everyone else.

Anonymous said...

Anon 6:21, I thought the same thing about her boobs!

And does Jon really think we don't know what PR means? Early in the show he said something like "we had to do PR for the book...and PR means public relations." Ugh.

Anonymous said...

Kate said that SHE wrote the book for her kids... who is she kidding, she did it for the money!! She didn't mention Beth at all either.

She's such a cow. I agree with someone who posted earlier that they don't know what home looks like. When Kate said it was nice to get out of the house now and then I had the urge to vomit.

Also, Kate goes on and on about how these things are normal and it's just "eh" as she shrugs like it's no big deal...then in the next sentence Jon (looking frazzled) is going on about how stressful it is and what they have to go through in the morning.

What a crock this show has become, the last few episodes have just been about damage control and product promotion.

Anonymous said...

Did I hear correctly??? Jon does not drive into city cause it "cost too much for parking" Does he think all the viewer are idiots?, and what in the world happened to
Kate's hair?? hey Kate, while you're in NYC....go see another hairdresser, besides it may end up being a freebie...

Anonymous said...

Didn't Joel look excited and cute playing the wii. He looked like he was enjoying being included.

gwop2009 said...

Yes, Kate, you felt "honored" because it is all about you. I enjoyed you and Jon telling us all how hard you work at your "job" and don't think I didn't notice how you said "..... our FIRST book..."

Anonymous said...

"My son tells me the Wii game they are playing came out yesterday...hence they had it well in advance of everyone else."

Just saying, I rented this a week ago so it couldn't have came out just yesterday.
It's not that fun of a game.

Kate actually didn't annoy me as bad in this episode. I don't know why, but I didn't want to put her in a headlock.

Penny said...

I didn't think this episode was too terribly bad. I kept thinking, "What a fun experience for the kids! I would LOVE to be able to share NYC with my own kids." The only thing that would have made that day more precious would be the cameras not invited. Oh yeah, and not having to sit still and quiet on yet another TV set. Sad.

Anonymous said...

Can you believe it only took some people 3 hours to read the book? I was sure it would be so full of big words and information that would be over my head that I would need a dictionary to understand it! Come on kate it's a little book. LOL

Anonymous said...

I even saw Mady drinking from a sippy cup....

Anonymous said...

I think this is exactly the reason Jon and Kate did not move to NC and stayed in PA---so they could be close to NY and "their work".

Laughable how Jon said this was the hardest job he ever had! Maybe that's because he's never had a real job in his life that required him to actually work. He is so delusional.

Anonymous said...

No Jenny on this trip........interesting.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe I just wasted a half of an hour of my life watching this episode. I haven't watched J&K+8 in a couple of months. It's gotten painfully boring. All they do is show them getting special prviledges. Good for them, but I hardly think anyone can relate to that, especially during this time in our economy.

Ravello said...

Once again the kids on display like circus animals. Lined up on couches.
What an ego Kate has, once again she talks endlessly about how much people love them, love the book.
Nauseating episode
Lots of Hannie cuddling which is getting old.
Kate was also very short with the young fellow at Fox and Friends who wanted a picture, she didn't sound interested or sincere.
And she was quite rude at GMA about the lollipops

Kate's hair defies description. I have grown my hair out more than a few times and never had the porcupine look.

Wonder how much school the kids missed as they would have driven to the city at least the day before. Was this the trip they saw Mary Poppins?

Somehow I dont think the kids reading this book someday will make up for their distorted childhoods. She keeps saying its all for the kids, yea right.
This book is all about making more money.

---------------------------------

It is very common that companies will send games, movies and things like that in advance to tv shows that are promoting them.. they probably had it worked out to the date they knew the show would be aired.

Anonymous said...

Just a funny thought...

Beth isn't allowed in on any of this promoting. She's barely acknowledged. The poetic justice, however, is that she gets to keep half of the royalties (or whatever portion they originally agreed upon) while Kate and Jon schlep all around to promote the book. Good for you, Beth!

By the way, I love how they talk about the private, chartered coach as though it's just a regular city bus that all of us commoners can hop on! They've really lost touch.

Last thing: Thank you to Jon for explaining what "PR" means and what Central Park is. They are way too sophisticated for us folk.

Anonymous said...

Just a clarification - My husband and I have had the Wii Music game they were playing for the last month - we bought it at Wal Mart, so it did not come out yesterday. However, I think it was pretty obvious that they were promoting the game and system on the show tonight.

Lori said...

I didn't find this episode that bad or too nauseating. Yes, some of the things Kate said had me rolling my eyes and talking to the TV but I didn't find it too bad.

What I didn't really understand was why no mention of Beth at all? She's a co-author on the book. Why couldn't they at least say she co-authored with them and no go into any other details. But nope, they take it on as they are the ones who did it all.

Favorite moment had to be of Leah in the park. 'Don't call me buddy. Call me Leah.' She sounds so like my little boy. LOL

I think I have rolled my eyes a dozen times over something Kate has said tonight. Please! I think she says things to convince herself that what she does is right.

I thought the same thing! She always says things and "talks the talk" but doesn't "walk the walk". She definitly says things over and over to convince herself of things. She can say 100 million times that "all their kids are wanted" and "we wrote the book to show them how much we love them", but we see the truth. It seems(IMO) that not all the kids are wanted or loved the same. Again, Hannah was the favored one in this episode. I feel sorry for the others. I'm so sorry to say this, but I think Hannah is going to be a real b!tch when she grows up. She'll probably be just like Kate.
And yes, her hair is absolutely "horrendously horrendous"!!! I want to cut those long things she has going on OFF! What is with that? UGH!

Anonymous said...

if the Wii wasnt free they would of had to block it out wouldnt they. I have to say he got the kids playing Wii jumping around then put them right to bed, does that make sense. he seemed to turn so quick if you are 4 go to bed now.
I wish Kate would realize she had 8 kids not one. Hannah needs to separate from her mom a bit she is beside her ALL the time. she was holding her hand walking, on the buggy and the bus.
when one of the boys hit his head at least she didnt say it was a punishment from God.

Anonymous said...

Anyone else think Kate was more condensending and arrogant than usual, God I just wanna slap that bitch !! Also it's funny how the last few shows haven't filmed anything inside the house, guess they don't want those moving boxes being seen although I did notice a stack of packed boxes in the middle of the garage when they got home which would coincide timing wise perfectly with their "book tour" to NY in October and their move a few wks later.

Mary said...

My son tells me the Wii game they are playing came out yesterday...hence they had it well in advance of everyone else.

Actually the game they were playing was Wii Music. It was released Oct 20th. I don't know when the episode was filmed but the game did not just come out yesterday.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone notice the boxes are packed in the garage and ready to go to the new house? When do we see the new house (estate)?

Anonymous said...

I'm sick and tired of the same ole 'roll out the red carpet'... this is 'work' for us.... crap.
And yes, that Wii was free. Why else would they mention it??

And if they REALLY were just doing this for their kids... then why the heck publish it? Write your darn book. Make 8 copies for each kid and be done. Oh I forgot. There's no money in that.

I do photo books for our family... it's called shutterfly.com!

Anonymous said...

No surprise not one mention of Beth was made. WHEN have they EVER thanked any of their "helper's" or the other people that were so good to them to get them where they are today? Those two make me feel vomitous !!

Glenda said...

Well this episode annoyed me on so many levels. Starting with 'I guess this is the book tour so we have to go to New York. It's just work' to Jon saying 'well if we just taped in the house no one would want to just see us sitting around so we have to go places' Seriously they actually think they are celebrities!!! I also didn't like the lollipop comments of 'ours are all organic and the office worker gave them real ones' How ungrateful can you be Kate? Those people GAVE you the trip to NY to be on their show now you tell them their lollipops weren't good enough for your kids? I also got annoyed with the Wii stuff. If you were an average American family with 8 kids with REAL jobs you would have to save to get that or put it on Lay away at K Mart. I also like Kate's stupidity of not knowing what it was. Also Jon we are not stupid we know what Central Park is it wasn't just built for your kids. Clearly this was a PR move by some of the things they said like 'We're not going anywhere and if we are we're going together' GAG!! I'm going to email the 700 club she should not be on that show. I feel sorry for Beth they should have at least explained where she is.

Anonymous said...

I'm so done watching this show!!! I get that they receive freebies of Wii's and trips to NYC...but I'm done with this pathetic couple b/c of the way they treat the kids. I can only imagine how these kids are going to feel in a couple of years when they "get" what their parents are doing to them (or as Jon and Kate would say FOR them). It is so clear that the only child Kate cares for is Hannah. In the scenes when they got to the Fox studio and she said "I have to take the lollipops..there was a sign that said no lollipops" she took a couple of the kids pops away from them to throw away, and then she asked Jon to wrap up Hannah's so she could have it after the show!!! Then the buggy ride...I'm surprised the Queen Bee and her princess didn't have their own buggy away from the pheasants!!!!
I am no longer going to tune in to the show. It will be a hard habit to break, but I have to. I can not and will not stomach the treatments that these awesome kids receive daily. Oh, and something else just popped in my head...I LOVE the way that Kate acted when her child (one of the boys) ran into the pillar at the park...I mean drop what you are doing Kate, take 2 seconds and check on your child and make sure he is fine and give him a huge. We all know if that was Hannah, she would have called for an ambulance!!!

Anonymous said...

In reference to an above post, the kids looked like they were having fun at the park, I think they were working. take the boys clothes and put a tacky yellow coat on Kate and it looks like their commercial It's a wonderful daaaay.

Jon the simpleton had to tell us what PR means.

The simple fact that the show is based around 8 kids going on a "book tour" is obscene. And I like the "I am getting a lot of time by myself these days" statement. You have 8 kids, by choice, and you are a supposed stay at home mom. How do you get so much time?

Anonymous said...

Yawn. This episode had to be the most boring one yet...

Anonymous said...

In response to previous comments about how the kids speak, they seemed to be speaking very well on this episode.

I was getting a little annoy about J&K repeating the same things over and over.

"We were in NY to do PR stuff and to promote our book"
"We don't mind it now, it's like our job"
"various things about Central Park"

They said each of those things at least 6 times.

Argh, we get it. You were in NY to promote your stupid book.

I flipped through that book at a bookstore a couple weeks ago. Most of what I read I already knew from watching the show or reading stuff online.

Anonymous said...

The sad thing is..they think they are doing damage control!!! I like how she kept saying the kids enjoy doing the appearences (yea Cara looked thrilled to be there) and what child doesn't like a 7 hour bus trip??!!? I'm pretty sure they did it all in one day. Do they not realize how ridiculous they sound when she goes on and on about it's just "work" for, I forget people go there for fun, but this is a reality show based on an average family with x-amount of kids?!!?! I laughed too at the, "it's just nice to get out of the house", because at one point she is saying they go all the time and we certainly have seen them all over the freaking place lately, does she even think? I also love how less and less is shown inside their home, did you see the boxes stacked in the garage? They only showed the basement and garage...also didn't they say back in the begining they would not do the show if it was "staged"? Now we have Jon saying we wouldn't watch their show if he was just sitting around his house...

Anonymous said...

They are so feakin pretentious. I was rolling my eyes every time Kate talked too. Like when she said people are telling us when they start reading the book they just couldn't put it down. So pathetic!

I wonder if Beth watches these shows as she gets no credit for writing this book. KON does not seem to have one bit of remorse that they have cut her out of the whole thing! They don't seem to care one bit that everyone is thinking where is Beth why isn't she mentioned.

Jaded said...

Is it my imagination or was Kon a bit defensive tonight? Both used the word "work" an awful lot during the episode, and I believe Jon said something about "If people don't think this is work . . ." Maybe they're actually reading some of the negative press. If they are, then it may have brought them together against all of us naysayers. They were particularly agreeable with each other.

And exactly what was Kate referring to when she said that they've "been through a lot"? A lot of what? Free stuff? Friends? Whining? Self-pity? Unrealistic expectations?

By the way, I wish TLC would buy Kate a thesaurus. I think she says "awesome" at least a dozen times per episode, which is proof of what a wordsmith she must be. Can't wait to read the book. I'm sure it's awesome!

ThreeFarmers said...

I love it how Kate said how every single email they get talks about how the book makes the reader laugh then cry. Such BS.

I know MY email to them certainly didn't say that. *grin*

Kate so contradicts herself. She said in this episode she doesn't get stressed anymore on trips, but if you watch the new video TLC has up titled "Breakfast in the Airport" or something stupid like that, Kate and Jon both mention how stressful it is to travel with them!

Why does no one ask them where the other author of the book is? Why doesn't Jen Stocks mention anything? Don't they think the viewers/readers deserve an answer? I am so glad I do not watch this show anymore. I can't stomach Kate anymore. I might have to tune in on Wednesday to catch a glimpse of the feather duster on her head!

I always think the same thing. I only have two kids, and we never have a free second to ourselves. Even early on, when Kon went to Florida (was it the Keys) for Jon's 30th birthday or when Jodi would watch the kids for that big chunk of time every week, I wondered what was wrong with this picture. You want the attention of the circus of eight, Kate, but none of the responsibilities. Be a parent!

They have never dealt with the absence of Beth to my knowledge. Then to do this episode - all about the book, when she is clearly one of the authors and continue to ignore her just bothers me. I feel it shows no respect for the viewers and they insult our intelligence.

I guess as they have become master manipulators of their children, they feel they can do the same to the audience too.

They have managed to alienate themselves from their Family, their Friends and now their Fans.

Personally I think Kate and Jon read this blog or hear the negative feedback, know that it pisses so many fans (or non-fans) off that Hannah is favored, so they intentionally DO IT EVEN MORE then they would have had it never even been mentioned. I think it's one of their ways to stick it to the haters out there. But little do they know it's doing more damage to the other kids than anything else.

I don't think there was any damage control about this episode. Tonight we still see Kate continuing to worship Hannah, still overly anal about sticky stuff, KON talking about how "exhausted" they are over all their "hard work" with their "job", and the boring mantra about this is 'everyday life for us' blah blah blah.

One of the most shocking things in the book was when Kate describes her "special" Bond with Hannah, she talked about how it was some special connection from birth. SHe even ended her comment, with a statment of something like: YES, I have said it, and admitted it, Hannah & I have a special bond. I wondered tonight when I heard her make several comments about wanting i worried how they will fill when they read kate's comments about Hannah.

Ahhhh overkill. It can only be a good thing in this case. Overkill with the word getting out about their scam and dishonestly can only mean one thing - Kon fading away.

And doesn't it make you wonder how the book cover has pictures of the kids at least 2 years old? Why is that? Because quite possibly using current pictures will only reinforce the fact that they're not cute anymore, nor marketable? They're growing up? I think so and I think Kon knows using their baby/toddlerish pictures on the cover is better marketing then using their older, more mature faces now because they know, too, their cuteness is gone.

It really amazes me how incredibly judgmental so many people are on this blog. Do you hold yourselves to these same high and unfair standards? We all have our own imperfections. Who are we to pin point every one of Kate's imperfections? Ridiculous.

Regarding Beth Carson: Has anyone thought that the reason why she's been so quiet all these months (since her sudden departure) is because she signed some type of confidentiality agreement? Perhaps it's all tied in with the book. She keeps quiet, KON doesn't mention her at all and Beth is quietly paid. That wouldn't surprise met at all, considering KON loves to control people and they love to write their own history, passing it off as fact.

I'm surprised that Kate being the control freak that she is actually allowed Beth ,or Jon for that matter, to have any part of the book.

seems like just pictures of the kids too....

How can they, in good conscience, publish a book of their children's photographs. That's a pedophiles dream and it's sickening! Do these two have no shame? Man, give your kids some privacy already and quit pimping them out!

seasons said...

The seasons simply fall in and out of each other. In general TLC doesn't have typical season premieres/season finales like network TV does. In terms of this series, since they're constantly taping, the seasons are divided up by the network which may or may not actually be part of the season that they are categorized as. But in the traditional (accounting sense) these are not true "seasons". Right now they're in "season 3" which I suspect will "end" this month with "season 4" beginning in Jan. (Keep in mind, the series hasn't even been on the air for 2 years, yet.)

As a matter of fact, I do hold myself to the these same high standards. Do I make mistakes ? Absolutely. Do I learn from my mistakes? Absolutely.

KON (especially Kate) never learn from their mistakes because they don't feel they are making any. So, they continue to act like a$$ses on national television every week, all in the name of:

a) making memories
b) "working: - that one really makes me laugh
c) showing the kids they were wanted
d) obvious product placement
3) blatant damage control

Do you think our comments are more ridiculous than KON's behavior and the way they live their lives off the backs of their kids ?

I ask because I lived in Lancaster for 6 years (about 15 years ago!) and would drive to NYC a lot...it took about 3 1/2 -4 hours (one way) depending on traffic so I would often do it in a day with my kids...no need for PJ's...what was the PJ thing all about?

That is exactly what I thought when they were talking about the first book and said someone read it straight through in three hours. I thought there could not be that much info and we know the words were just a couple of syllables unless they were made up words from Kate.

Although totally sad to say, I have to agree with the poster who referred to a "pedophiles dream". I am weird about putting my kids up on Facebook...but if you put it in perspective the exposure that these kids (who are darling)are getting is far worse with each passing money making scheme. What kind of a life will they have if they have to stay physically guarded for their childhood? Sad...

On Kate's new book Eight Little Faces~In this very personal close-up of their family life, Kate comments on the life lessons God has taught her.

Featuring themes like trust, perseverance, joy, and encouragement, each two-page spread includes a photograph from the Gosselin family album, words from Kate, and topical Scripture verses.~

"Topical scripture verses"?
I wonder if she put *lying lips are an abomination to the lord* somewhere among those pages.

It really amazes me how incredibly judgmental so many people are on this blog. Do you hold yourselves to these same high and unfair standards? We all have our own imperfections. Who are we to pin point every one of Kate's imperfections? Ridiculous.

When Kate Gosselin decided to exploit her children she opened up herself to criticism, judgement.

Unfortunately Kate herself is to blame for these "high and unfair standards" - how many publications have touted her "organizational" skills? How many have praised her for raising her family? How many fluff pieces have been written about this person who really has no hands on time with her family as of late?

Yes we all have are own imperfections - but when you are reaping the benefits of exploiting them on television - you should be prepared to have them pointed out.

Who are we to pinpoint them? The very same ones who watch the show. Regardless of how we feel, bad publicity is publicity.

IMO, Kate better grin and bear because it's what is getting the bills paid.

If Kate Gosselin didn't make a point to say she is a "Christian" then others would not be so quick to point out her "un Christian like behavior".

If Kate Gosselin didn't make a point to say she "pays back" - then others wouldn't be quick to point out that she really doesn't.

If Kate Gosselin didn't make a point to (insert statement) then people wouldn't make a point to point out (the contradiction) - there are many other examples of what a hypocrite this woman is.

If you want to say you are amazed at how people can be judgemental, then I want to say how I am amazed that there are people who still say they "like" this woman and "enjoyed this episode". Kate Gosselin must have a lot of visually impaired fans as well, because a lot of statements start out with "I don't see the exploitation" "I don't see the deception" - these people don't see because they don't want to.

See Collin get his punishment from God.

See Aaden run in his red unawears.

See Joel....oh, who cares?

Okay, Kate started the show because they were too busy to video tape every second of their lives and the wanted to create memories. Every event is to create memories. Now, the book is for the memories. Why? Because she wants them all to remember their mother and spend their lives admiring her. It is all about Kate and her super sized ego.

She has now successfully alienated herself from anyone outside her brood that she is a "loner" traveling for her job. She and Jon are becoming characatures of themselves.

Isn't it odd that they keep saying they are not going anywhere and they'll always be together? Who are they trying to convince, each other?

Where else can they go with this show? Will they eventually crash and burn or slowly just fade away?

So many people have asked the same thing. It's gotta be a combination of trying to keep things as calm as possible for the kids and threats of legal action.

What I'm surprised about is that nobody from Kate or Jon's high school, work, etc has spoken, although it would be hard to prove their identity.

I watch the show every week and have not let myself focus too much on what life is really like for the kids, and honestly that's been out of a selfish enjoyment of watching them grow up. And while I generally try to play devil's advocate and see the other side of every situation, it's become increasingly hard to justify in my own mind some of what I see on the show. I'm curious to see if all the book promo in this episode ends up backfiring. I looked it up on Amazon to see if the reviews were as glowing as Kate made them seem (repeatedly). After reading them, mostly the bad ones though, I read about the Jodi/Beth situations, which I had never heard of before, and came to this blog and another one where I have read some well thought out opinions and interesting info. I'm sure I'm not the only one finding all this out tonight. Will I watch next week? Not sure yet. But if I do it'll be with my eyes open a little wider.

Sorry if this has been previously addressed on the blog...in watching the credits on this episode I saw Beth Carlson listed in some type of production role. Is this the same Beth?

Carefully watched the credits on the repeat episode (prelude to Oprah) that aired after this one and did not see Beth's name. (?)

Also noticed that in past airings of the pre-Oprah episode the ending shows them walking onstage and greeting Oprah. This repeat did not show that footage at the very end. Did anyone else notice? I wouldn't have, but really wanted to point out to my hubby how cute the kids looked in that shot and was shocked that it didn't air.

Thanks for any enlightenment!

Another book! Are you kidding me?! First the home videos of their vacations and now they're publishing their family scrapbook. Just when I think they can't possibly exploit their children any more. Why would anyone want to buy someone else's family photo album? It is all so ridiculus. Pretty soon they will be starting a fan club, with a fee to sign up of course. Or they'll start their own EBay store where they can auction off their children's locks of hair, the first teeth they loose, "autographed" handprints, and any other momento of their childhood. I guess I should stop-I'm probably giving them ideas.

I agree. IMO I think Beth is cut from different cloth. She has a life of her own which she enjoys. She has children and a husband she adores. I believe she looks at the entire Kate/Jon situation as a life lesson, has wash her hands of the situation and continues to lead a productive life with her loved ones and has put the whole situation behind her.

So is the only way to let your children know they were wanted and loved is to pimp them out and then publish a book? I guess tens of millions of children aren't wanted or loved since their parents are hocking photos of them at twenty bucks a pop and then publishing a book with mostly pictures.

I haven't watched tonight's episode yet but I wanted to comment on a few things...
First, why in the world does Kate think that her children are such an interest to the American public. I mean, I have four children and I would much rather look through their photo albums then watch complete strangers through a fishbowl, er...their new book.
Second, I think it speaks VOLUMES that Beth is not mentioned at all in the book tour. I wouldn't have thought twice about it if Kate hadn't gushed about Beth being her best friend in previous episodes and if I hadn't seen with my own eyes the "friendship" they had. I think the "fans" deserve to question why Beth co authored this book but is not mentioned at all.
Finally, and this may be a bit off topic but I don't *get* the people who say they are a "Mady" fan or a "Joel" fan. These are CHILDREN. They aren't actors. They deserve no more attention or adoration than any other child in this world. I would think it very creepy if a complete stranger put a picture of my child on their blog or website and then claimed to be a "fan" of my child....ewwwww! Anyone with me?

Get a Clue said...

The one thing this show does for me is to validate a decision we made years ago. We had a daughter offered modeling, movie, and TV roles as a child. We turned them all down and made her wait until she was out of high school to do any of that. She was a bit mad as a teenager, but now as an adult she has assured us over and over that making her wait and encouraging her to go to college was the right thing. She had a childhood - a private, normal childhood. Now it's a regular job to her and she has an education to do other things if she wishes. She is so thankful that she didn't grow up "on camera" and didn't have to deal with fans and such as a child. So yes, I find fans of children on reality shows extremely creepy and find Kate and Jon to be extremely deficient in understanding the needs of their children and the long term effects of what they are doing.

An author I really love, once commented in her book about Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. She said that when they started wearing the vials of each others blood around their necks, it was the begining of the end for them. We all knew it. They were trying too hard. If you have to put that much effort into convincing each other and other people of your love, you're done.

First of all, I couldn't agree more regarding the posts about how over-the-top Kon is. The pair of them need a good slap into reality. I'd like to bring attention to a couple of seemingly insignificant obsevations that I believe have not been mentioned in any of the previous posts, but have nevertheless made a huge impact on how I access these two. Jon making his weekly stop to dump cardboard, at an unknown dumpster,I assume from their weekly deliveries of freebies. He said, "Our garbage won't take cardboard, so I have to (rolls his eyes) take it here". Ugh, such a chore, hey, here's an idea! Why not recycle, Jon? Also, I recall seeing Kate wearing a pair of Dansko shoes, at $120.00 a pop. I (I think it was when they were looking at potential properties, like I look at potential groceries.) Hmmm, I thought Mom's of 8 pinched pennies to shop at Payless? Or was it K-Mart?
I also, no longer can stomach this pair Bitching about getting up at
5:30 am to go to Hawaii.
On a personal note, I have a toddler with a debilitaiting medical problem, and watching the ingratitude coupled with the 'Look how hard it is for us' makes me want to vommit on a cold, laudry room floor, considering the fact that they should be very well aware of the fact that they could have easily gotten a few kids with serious medical issues. Get a clue KON JOB!

Watching this show has become a game for me.See how bad the show is then read the comments left by others so I can see what I did not catch myself. I am entertained but always feel quilty because of the children.

It seems Kate will be signing copies of the book at Schular Book Store in Lansing Michigan on December 12th. If I lived closer I would go just to see how many sheeple turn out and how she reacts to them

Enough of Jon explaining Central Park to us. I guess he thinks those of us not privileged to have a tv show aren't familiar with it. And how many times is Kate going to tell us she wrote the book for the kids. How many mothers are fortunate enough to have the children's life professionally filmed, and now a book. Not too many moms that i know of write a book and have it published "so their kids know that they're wanted".

It reminds me of Rod Stewart ['s hair], telling my age now!

_________

I can excuse the messy coif in Rod: he's talented, and he gives me great pleasure with his music. I can't excuse it in Kate: she's talented only in her deviousness, and her new "do" makes me want to heave my Oreos.

Do you hold yourselves to these same high and unfair standards?

Of course. All parents should be holding themselves to high standards! How are they unfair? Expecting to see children treated equally and not obviously favoring one for no apparent reason and expecting someone not to live off of and exploit their children is unfair how?

Really, just because we didn't see Jenny doesn't mean she wasn't there. We've been less and less of her, so it's possible that they were able to edit her out completely this time.

More damage control from KON? It sure seems like they got on here tonight to tell us again and again how this was not an annoying episode and how much fun the kids seemed to have. : ) As for me, it is one of the most annoying episodes yet! I can't believe how they just sit on the couch and justify things that are just impossible to justify. They are worse than ever. I would suggest re-watching it if you missed how obnoxious they are.

There is no doubt in my mind that the wii game is product placement.
When you click on the webisodes, you are subjected to a wii commercial.

There has been product placement in this show since the beginning. Every reality show does it...some are just more subtle about it.

Shame, SHAME, on Kate Gosselin for not giving Beth Carson credit for the book. We authors feel pretty strongly that Karma will come around and bite KG big time on the rear for that one.

This NYC episode shows Jon and Kate at the pinnacle of their worst behavior. They have now adopted a blase and nonchalant attitude concerning their freebies. They now truly believe they are "celebrities" even though from what I could tell no one on the streets of NYC gave them a second look unless it was one of annoyance.

Kate continued on with her organic food charade (let's see, the written orders taped to the fridge say she takes 2 or 3 spoonfuls of chemically ladened Coffeemate in her coffee?) to the extent of saying she has only organic lollipops for her kids. Kate doesn't seem to know what the word "organic" means.

Jon, who apparently is thick as a plank, continues to explain to his audience what those complicated letters like "PR" are all about. And oh my - they are so famous now they only do two shows a day on their many trips to NYC. One live and one taped. Meanwhile, they shove food into their kids mouths as a reward over and over.

The Gosselins have enough money now. Jon should check into his Korean heritage and realize the value of education and the role education played in the incredible success South Korea has experienced over the last three decades. Use the money to now get your kids a good education. Put them in a good school that won't bow down to Kate and Jon and coddle the kids and let them go on stupid "press junkets."

Getting a solid education (where they will learn to learn to speak correct grammar unlike their parents) doesn't have a damn thing to do with the fact that they are twins, sextuplets or any other configuration. They are individuals who need to be educated as such, Jon and Kate. Each child,at their own rate of speed and learning abilities, encouraged to learn and acquire skill sets and an understanding of math, history science, language, and the arts that will promise them success in life. Yes - in a short time they will be more knowledgeable about the world than their parents but this is what will ensure their survival in a world of people who very soon will NOT fawn all over them for being "cute."

Hate to sound like a fore sayer of doom for the Gosselins but the folks in NYC didn't seem very interested in any of them and the show was downright boring to watch. Move on.

It was Kate's fault that he walked into the pole. She should have watched out.

There is nothing more annoying than when Jon finds it necessary to imitate what one of his children said. He gets this dorky voice and an even dorkier look on his face than usual. Why does he insist on doing this? We know he is trying to justify how much they love this lifestyle, but it's ridiculous. We get it already..your kids love freebies as much as you do. If you were a real man you would not let them be takers as you and your wife are and would teach them some values instead!

4.What is the point of packing eight sippy cups with water and then passing them out like it's gold? Don't the studios have bottled water? WAIT...oh I got it, Kate's water is probably organic! ROFLMAO

And now for something REALLY different...

It's ironic that the Duggars follow Jon and Kate in the line up. It really makes the materialism of Jon and Kate pop out at you!

Michelle is making her own laundry soap and yet they are self sufficient as far as income.

Jon and Kate rely on freebies and have no jobs. Interesting!

Has anyone noticed when Jenny does appear, she wears Daisy Duke shorty shorts? I am surprised Kate does not have a dress code for employees? Not very appropriate work wear for child care. And yes... her HAIR!! It looks like a hair identity crisis... her hair is BIPOLAR!!

So wait...way back in the beginning of this series Kate said that this show was about showing America their "actual, daily lives" raising twins and sextuplets. But now apparently their "actual daily lives" have become so humdrum and boring that they need to go on trips or else the show would be boring. Hmm! Does that strike anyone else as strange?? I mean obviously no one wants to see two stay-at-home parents sitting around on their bottoms all day getting paid to look at each other until their children come home from school. Apparently the whole original focus of the show has eluded not only TLC but Jon and Kate as well. Obviously, they "need" to go on all these fancy free vacations and get "invited" to places just so that they can make their show interesting. I mean, obviously. Seeing as how they have become such big celebrities that they can't be bothered to live the ordinary lives the rest of us common-folk do. But if they have to grasp so deeply for these straws in order to make the show interesting, well...seems like the beginning of the end of the gravy train to me, folks!

Not only that but I thought Kate stated (with the utmost annoyance, might I add) that her show "didn't need any promoting"?? But now suddenly they have to go to NYC to promote their show and keep up appearances? I wonder if anyone in the editing room is actually cross-checking the things Jon and Kate say.

Oh and I loved how Kate made everyone except HANNAH give her their lollipops to be thrown out. Princess Hannah got to have hers wrapped up and saved for later. I wish they had emoticons on this site, because I would use an eye-rolling smilie right here.

I read the book. It wasn't their scrap book it was the story of them meeting and the fertility treatments. It mentioned the mixed races boy they almost adopted before going on with trying for "just one more". The book stops around the time the first special was made. I would have been interested to hear her take of things after the show had started though. Thats where my questions start. What happened to the family mentioned in the book so many other times? I would have liked to know what happened after the special. Other then what we see of course.

I did cry though.. the part where "Poppi" died. It was sad.

It would be interesting for someone to see which children are mentioned the most though and which are skimmed through.

I will say though that the actual writing part was...very poor. I mentioned it to my mother and friends before I even found this site. I just passed it off at the time that Kate is not a writer so I couldn't expect the writing to be very good. I didn't realize someone helped her until I came to this site. Maybe Beth chose to not be mentioned. The story was very much there but the writing lacked any style whatsoever. I wouldn't brag about helping write it. You'd think one of them would have looked to the other and said "Hey how about some adjectives?" at some point.

Thats just my take though.

People keep criticizing Kate about using sippy cups. While I agree she should be giving the kids practice using regular cups at the dinner table, I have no problem if she wants to use them (for all the kids) anywhere outside the kitchen. Kids make messes. Everything Kate does is not bad parenting. She just takes things to the extreme.

It was Kate's fault that Collin hit his head again on the pillar at Central Park. She was dragging him and not looking at him because she was looking at Hannah. The poor boy was cornered between Kate and the pillar so he hit his head. Kate didn't even realize until Collin cried. Seriously Kate, you have 8 kids, not just one. If you really do not love them equally, at least care for them equally.

Some things that I noticed on this eppie.

1. Jon on the carriage waving to
the crowd like a homecoming
queen.

2. Jon was sitting up so much
higher then Kate on the couch.
Perhaps he was on his booster.

3. Hannie was the first of the
girls to be hoisted into the
tire swing @ the playground.

4. Hannie was the first one lifted
up to the carriage.

5. Hannie was the first one to be
taken off the bus when they
arrived home.

6. When Collin hit his head Kate
replied "You are okay buddy"
Had it been Hannah she would
have picked her up and coddled
her.

Do you think Jon is still picking out Kate's clothing???

With regards to Kon's use of baby talk - I thought it was hilarious how Hannah corrected Jon when he said, "Look at the yellow cars!" and Hannah says, "They're not yellow cars, they're taxis!"

Also, I just have to comment on Kate's lack of enthusiasm whenever she talks about how "amazed" she is with the success of the book, she comes across as so insincere. For being so "ble8sed" she should be more GR8FUL!!

They also reconfirmed their commitment to each other saying that if they run off, they're running off together! Did you catch Jon's nervous laugh when he said it? Awkward!

Now about that hair. Can you hear her now explaining to her hairdresser how to style that thing? "Leave this side long, bleach it 2 colors and flat-iron it, cut it short in the back and spike it all over, chop the left side 4 inches shorter than my right side, and oh yeah, spike it some more!" Or maybe the kids are cutting her hair...?? Take comfort in knowing that KON won't be making any money from hair product endorsements. Heaven forbid that none of them offer to "fix" that thing for free!!

And lastly, why did they need a bigger house when they're never home??!

Jen Stocks does not bother to ask questions Kate would not like to hear nor answer (Questions that matter to us, like where is Beth, etc). Kate can just demand to TLC to replace Jen Stocks with a new one. I bet everyone's scared of Queen Kate!

So it would have been okay if Kate had given the kids her ORGANIC lollipops from her purse? I guess ORGANIC lollipops aren't sticky.

Beth had more than a small part in writing that book. If not, every sentence would contain the word "awesome" and every sentence would end with "or whatever." Beth has the only vocabulary of the bunch.

On one of the sofa sessions, Kate said something about Jon's poor "vocab." Apparently she feels she can make up any word she needs, but Jon needs to develop a better "vocab."

I knew Kate favored Hannah, but that carriage ride was over the top. It would be a mother's natural inclination to sit between two little ones with an arm around each holding them both close. Instead Kate clung to most favored child while the other little girl (not sure if it was Alexis or Leah) was sort of awkwardly fending for herself completely ignored. I felt terrible for her. Of course the boys are second class citizens and had to sit opposite. No affection for them either. I sure do hope KON have established funds for their kids. All 8 are going to require years of therapy.

And the only logical explanation for Kate's hair is that no one has offered to fix it for free, so she just lets it go. It's a mess.

To compensate for Jon's low IQ and to satisfy Kate's big ego.
They should just live inside the bus. I think it's big enough to accomodate all of them, and they can easily go wherever they need to. Of course it wont be normal for the kids, but their lives right now are far from normal...

Okay, what I noticed was that Jon is really childish. He is indeed the ninth child in the Gosselin household (not that Kate is more mature). Did anyone see how Jon try to tell Mady that she can't go slide anymore, that Leah was the last? He was trying to be authoritative but it sounded whiny, like he was telling Kate, "Mom, Mady won't listen to me." Of course, Mady didn't listen and went up even more. Just my opinion.

Not only did they tell us how much the kids love doing appearances, over and over, but they threw in another insistance that they are going to be married FOREVER AND EVER!

Who said they weren't? I thought they don't read negative comments.
If you are so sure of this why this obsessive need to pound it into our heads over and over? I feel like this is some kind of mind manipulation voodoo--if we say it enough it will be true!
