Interview with Jon

Go here. (I had to use download to get the podcasts to play. For those having trouble that might help.)

Thank you Nikki.

Funny how they have decided with the tough economic times to do a "family technology" gift this year, and Jon was totally going to get a laptop...yet we have seen over and over on their show they BOTH already have computers. Why is it going to be the gift of choice?? more product placement..

Wow. Is that ALL these two people do these days is stupid product placement interviews...like seriously promoting Microsoft laptops and live.com....come on. Doesnt the show earn them enough money??

Also, saying that the cameras are ONLY in their house 3 days a week....like thats not a big deal...and of course he had to make us all aware once again and him nor Kate need any email thats not positive.

I dont really understand that one. I mean, wouldn't you want to hear some good AND some criticism...wouldn't you want to hear from people what they think your areas of improvement are from a objective point of view??

Its like all they want to hear is how much people love them and what a great thing they are doing by having their family filmed for the world to see...I dont get it.

Chrissy said...

When Alexis was crying at KMart about the Elmo doll, Kate clearly says to her "put it on your Christmas list". I thought they were only getting a family computer and stocking stuffers? Maybe they need a new computer just to keep track of all the lies they tell.

CincyMom said...

I can understand the computer. My kids are NOT allowed on my computer.

Virginia Girl said...

It was nice to hear Jon actually be able to speak. He actually can speak, unlike Kate who says "um" every other word. I found it interesting how he said they were going to get one big technology gift for the family this Christmas and then proceeds to say he used a website to order gifts off of his kids Christmas lists. hmmm

Marie said...

Apparently they only have the cameras in their house 3X max a week. He also said that sometimes its only 1 day a week anywhere from 3-8 hours depending on what they are doing. They asked about the scrutiny against them and (brace yourselves people lol) Jon said he is the firewall against negative emails. Janice said that "Despite how many people love and appreciate your show there are a "few" people creating negative buzz." I almost fell over laughing.

Also add Microsoft and live.com to the list because Jon is teaming up with them to help family with a budget concern this holiday season. The last segment was just a commercial for them 2 places. Dang, I was going to buy a new computer for myself this year too. :(

Oregon Mom said, "they BOTH already have computers. Why is it (a laptop) going to be the gift of choice?? "

Because Kon's greed knows no bounds.

OK, he says he likes to shop on line to save gas money, but yet their kids go to preschool an hour away.

It sounds as though Jon has type of apparatus in his mouth during the interview. I wonder if he is using invisiline.
I couldn't stand to listen to more than a minute of his interview. He is so damed cocky and full of himself. He appears to think he and his family are superstars!

Casey and Smudge said...

A laptop is rather a poor choice for a family computer, especially for the Gosselins, given that their children are known for their abilities to destroy "libraries of books" and whatnot. A desktop would be more rugged and has a longer lifespan as it's easier to expand and upgrade. You'd think an IT genius like Jon would promote a desktop in these "tough economic times" as a more money-conscious choice. As for online safety, a desktop is also more likely to stay put in a shared family space where computer use can be monitored.

I realise that this is of little consequence to Jon and Kate, but something to consider for parents thinking of buying a computer for the kids!

NEliseH said...

How can he say they only film maximum 3 days a week, 3-8 hours a day. Did he not see all the Hawaii episodes?

I firmly believe Kon will hawk anything for a buck. Should (heaven forbid) this show continue for a few more years, Queen Freebie Irene will go into raptures about Maidenform bras for Cara and Mady and then feminine hygiene products will follow.

******** So what if he does? I have invisiline (due to a metal allergy). It's not expensive, only a little more than regular braces.

I think we are all being to critical of Jon and Kate, they are just human they are going to make mistakes.

Once again an interview is given that screams of damage control. How often do they film? Only three days a week, and sometimes one day is a PR day, and then one day is for interviews (couch time? Who's watching the kids?) and so really, the filming is only one day (depending on what's going on) and that's only 3 or 8 hours. Wow, talk about minimalizing everything and hedging the truth to fit the criticism of late.

Why is the show so lousy lately? This is their life, their life is the show. Thus, they really HAVE no life anymore.

caryl said...

I didn't get any further than this little gem from the author/interviewer......fictitious battles between good and evil on “movie night,” we can snuggle up on the couch with a giant bowl of popcorn and watch Jon and Kate Plus 8 and Little People, Big World.

Ya, now instead of turning off the tube to avoid fictitious goo on tv and actually interacting and PLAYING with your child, you can turn in and watch two families duke it out for real....good and evil. Snort!

Not anymore - the new house puts them very close to the preschool. I can understand him shopping online - God forbid, someone recognize him and dare to say hello.

ThreeFarmers said...

I would imagine that the reason that the cameras are in the house less is because so few episodes contain footage of them at home. They are always on vacation or someplace. I'm more interested in knowing the total number of hours per week the family is filmed in or out of the home.

This is just more PR work. And yes Jon, I know what PR means. It is clear from this interview that they cannot keep their story straight for even 5 minutes. Jon said they are buying a family gift (a computer for $1000) that works out to $100 per person and about 2 minutes later he said he was shopping online getting the kids gifts off their lists. Which is it Jon? Again I have to ask, why all the lies? It has become quite clear that these two do not know the meaning of the word truth.

Jon also said if you don't like the show, don't watch it. Well Jon, I have taken your advice as I haven't watched the show for quit some time now. But just remember that people watching your show is what got you to where you are today and that is what has provided you with the opportunities and lifestyle you and Kate so obviously now enjoy, so if I were you, I wouldn't be so cocky and I would be careful about flinging statements like "don't watch the show" around publicly. More and more people just might take your advice and then where will you and Kate be?

well ,they are cheapskates !!

How about asking Jon and Kate questions that have to do with whats important for the Holidays ,like family and friends?

oh I forgot they don't have those.

I would rather hear an interview with aunt Jodi.

They only have "yes " people around them , telling them how fabulous they are, darling.

To keep up with this blog I will watch their show on youtube from now on .I am not watching it on tlc another day.
That's so I won't help give them ratings. That's if I watch it at all!

Wasn't that just precious of Jon to tell us he actually got to go to the bathroom alone for the first time in eight years? That is so sick if he is letting the kids join him for his "potty time". Come on Jon they are not babies, or even toddlers. If you don't have privacy, that is your fault.

lisa.k. said...

Ugh,will these people never stop with the product placement already.I had read somewhere that the computer was free from microsoft, since Jon was a spokesperson now.If he really wanted to give them a gift that they could use and be thankfull for,he would turn off the cameras and let the kids live a normal life.

To be fair, doesn't he deserve to be in a bad mood once in a while?

"To be fair, doesn't he deserve to be in a bad mood once in a while?"

-----------

Sure we are all entitled to have mood swings but the SENSE of entitlement is way beyond normal, especially if the only reason you are "famous" is because you popped out 8 kids. Come on people it wasn't immaculate conception, it is called scheming and scheming. Something Jon and Kate know EVERYTHING about.

NEliseH said...

About people stating that their drive to preschool is now less than an hour, before the whole Hawaii broohaha, they had an episode and they made sure that everyone knew that they are such wonderful parents to take their kids to a school an hour away. I'm in Florida, so I have no idea how close their new house is, but that is what they went on about in that episode.

Tracy in New Mexico said...

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this blog. So many of you are able to put into words what I've been thinking but unable to express. I just wanted to say this one family gift thing stinks. Those kids work full time and their parents get all the "stuff". I think the kids deserve a heck of a lot more gifts than just one laptop to share.

Oh, and I sent KON an e-mail via their website asking them to quit pimping out their children. Haven't heard back yet from them [lol].

timetogokon said...

Yes, we all make mistakes, but KON don't seem to LEARN anything from theirs, because they don't think they are making any.

You give KON way too much credit.

Oh, BTW, I'm getting Invisalign in January - I don't know where you are getting your bargain, but it is VERY EXPENSIVE.

I agree. Jon may very well be correct in stating that a camera and filming crew are only present in their HOME 3 times week, however, much of this past season featured minimal camera time of the Gosselin family AT home. However, there was much filming of the Gosselin family residing in secondary home(s) aka vacation resorts and luxery hotels located in various states nationwide.

Wow, what a brilliant idea! Eight kids sharing one laptop with all their sticky fingers it should be stuck closed in no time so the arguing over it will be minimal!

While Jon states that they cameras are only filming for part of the week, that's only part of the problem. I think that it's great that the kids aren't filmed everyday but their lives are still broadcast nationwide.

Can you imagine those kids fighing over the laptop? I give the thing three weeks tops, before it is broken. Or, one of them hits another over the head with it.

2exhausted2name said...

I totally believe Jon if he said they only film up to 3x a week. Considering he and Kate are away from home the other 4x a week it just wouldn't do to show the world that nannies are caring for the kids more than they are.

Just looking at his & Kate's appearances in the past few weeks I do wonder how much time they actually spend at home alone with their children (without cameras). For two SAH parents it seems their kids spend more time in the care of others.

kate is a cocky bitch said...

OMG I officially hate Jon now. And I'm sorry but that lady conducting the interview sounds like such an airhead. Was it Kate disguising her voice? And what was up with that corny 1987 music that kept opening and closing with each link? It made me want to vomit!! OK and who doesn't think that their "family gift" is a total freebie from Windows?

ICExploitation said...

Apparently they only have the cameras in their house 3X max a week. He also said that sometimes its only 1 day a week anywhere from 3-8 hours depending on what they are doing.

I call BS on this one. How many times are they going to change the amount of time the cameras are in their house?

If one day is "PR" (that's Public Relations for those of you who didn't know), one day for "interviews", and one day for 8 hours only for actual footage, then that means the Gosselins live such a linear life that that an episode can be derived from filming. NOT. I only listened to one podcast because it was so full of contradicting crap, I couldn't bear to hear the rest.

Jon once again stating "he'll do anything" for his children. He doesn't do ANYTHING.

That may very well be true. But when the negative remarks are and have the potential to be a detriment to the well being of your minor children YOU, as a parent, have an obligation and responsibility to make choices that are in the best interest OF AND FOR your children. The Gosselin children never asked to be 'well known', nor was it their goal at birth to become reality tv personalities. That was a decision made on their behalf by their parents (J & K), an ego driven decision that was fueled by $$$$$ and greed with zero forethought as to how the children's lives could and would be negatively impacted as a result!!! Man up and take ownership and accountability for your own choices. Being 'well known' doesnt give you the RIGHT to ruin your children's lives in the process!!!!

Let's install cameras about the house then do the editing - believe we would see a different ballgame. It used to be 3 days a wk and the fourth was the interview when Jodi kept the kids.

My 4 year old absolutely loves playing on the computer. She has a big sister just like the tups and she knows exactly what she's doing on here. She doesn't need anyone's help on here. She goes to Nick jr.com and Playhouse Disney all by herself.

You are reading much too much into the computer present.

My family often got a "family gift" growing up. It didn't mean that us kids would get nothing else. It meant that the family gift was our big gift and anything else that we got would be little extras. We never got ONLY a family gift. Some years there was no family gift and each of us would get a larger gift individually.

Jodie said...

You guys are forgetting the fact that the computer is probably free because Jon is now an HP spokesman. Plus, they don't have to shop for their kids' little presents or stocking stuffers because those are either freebies or sent by fans too!

Tracy, good you emailed them, but I can tell you you won't hear back. I've sent them numerous emails - I even told Jon once to run for his life from that evil shrew (put it much nicer, though). Jon deletes our emails and sends them directly to the trash bin. The only ones he's interested in are the offers of freebies. That's what their email is intended for. Exclusively.

-----------
My 4 year old knows how to use one too. She likes to sit with a parent once in a while and play games. I can't see how it would be good for them to just plunk down at the computer and play games all the time by themselves though. Not anymore than it's good that most kids have unlimited video game time (usually alone) and spend way too much time watching tv. It takes away from developing in other ways and there is plenty of time for that kind of stuff when they are older. Makes me wonder why the Gosselins go out of their way to claim their kids don't watch tv and then show them playing WII, VSmile, talking about them sitting around on the computer, etc. Odd.
