Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas... this song was playing and the line "faithful friends who are dear to us, gather near to us once more" stood out in my mind. I thought about the Gosselin children and how they must think this line is referring to their camera crew. They certainly don't have any other "faithful friends gathering near" at Christmas.

May your Holidays be happy!!!

I am want to add my thanks to the mods for giving us a place to vent our frustrations at those unfit parents. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who feels this way.

Thank you to all the blog admins and moderators. I was thinking about this tonight and realized this method of communication has taken the place of how my Mother's generation socialized. We don't often get together with our neighbors, or even know them. We live in a sort of isolated bubble that is so different from generations past. My Mother grew up in the Bronx and everyone knew everyone else and parents could scold a child in the neighborhood without worrying about a harsh parental response. People looked out for each other and all helped with kids, and their rearing and discipline. A good friend of mine lived in Russia for several years and said that is still the way it is. If a child was misbehaving or being fresh on a bus ride, other passengers would admonish that child (politely, but in the vein of "you should listen to your Mama). That is the norm and totally acceptable.

I think that a lot of us are missing this sort of neighborhood comraderie and interaction that used to be so prevalent in neighborhoods decades ago.

To make this long rambling story shorter, I think that the electronic age has led us to find other ways to connect and feel close to other people. I thank all of you who allow me to feel that connection to a community, even though it is in cyberland. It is pretty interesting from a sociological standpoint that people will still strive to find a type of community. I also thank all of you for reading and putting up with my sometimes cranky, foolish, or just frustrated comments.

I wish for all of you that you enjoy the spirit of the holiday and don't have that let down after Christmas morning - you know - we put so much time into it and it is over in a heartbeat kind of melancholy.

Thank you again Mods and Admins - it can't be easy dealing with all us opinionated people. Hats Off!

Merry, Merry, Happy , Happy!
