Our suffering begins....

We start with two of the “nonworking” children mugging for the camera reciting their lines and quickly cut to TLC’s first jab at Jon, the showing of the sign prohibiting them from filming, complete with sad music. The screen turns black and written in white letters is “These are our last moments with the Gosselins.” We want to puke already. Uh... they didn’t die some horrible tragic death, TLC. One parent finally wised up and stopped the filming, suspect reasons aside. Besides, we’re pretty sure that North America will continue to be plagued by the Gosselin parents for years to come. Those two are going to have to be pulled from the public eye kicking and screaming.

There’s more sad music swelling in the background and Kate and Jon giving voice overs. Kate can’t wait to say that the show “has been taken from us, me and the kids.” She lets it be known that this all came to an end because of Jon. All before the opening credits too. It’s not hard to see where this is heading.

Kate’s sitting in her interview chair and the producer says “last time.” Kate’s response is “last time in this set.” Uh, that’s scary on so many levels. First, she refers to her house as a set and second, the wording sounds wide open for filming on a different set. Did you all feel a chill run down your spines too? Kate doesn’t like ends or goodbyes? Why does she have so many? What a setup by the producer asking, “What are your feelings about how this series came to an end?” Yes, just tell Kate to go ahead and blame Jon. “It’s sad, it’s useless, it was totally avoidable.” So, in other words, Kate’s pissed that those poor kids won’t be taped until they turn 18, get a lawyer and legally emancipate themselves, or end up a cautionary tale of growing up literally on TV, whichever might come first. Kate can always see the good. Nice. She babbles on about how great this was for the kids, they got to travel, see the world, blah, blah, blah. Why could you not see the bad? She goes on to say she could take her kids to work, she didn’t have to leave home to work, she could be home working. So why was she gone all but three days in April and not with her kids? She brings up college and the house (you know, two things 5 and 9 year olds usually have to provide for themselves). Oh, and for the second time in about 90 seconds tells us the kids are missing it. Missing their pseudo parents, the film crew, more like it.

Jon looks terrible, bloated and unhealthy. He is also rambling. He became more educated, more educated about himself. Jon says he can take blame. He says he’s got to stop being a kid. His interview is running off the rails. He was young, 22, had kids, didn’t have freedom, got divorced (uh, no, not quite yet), the interview is all over the place. It seems he’s basically saying his life fell apart, he went wild for a while and the paparazzi made him see the light. Ugh Jon it took paparazzi for you to see yourself?

Kate thinks she’s been thrown in the same boat with Jon, but says she’s really in a completely different boat going in a completely different direction. Um, don’t think so, honey. No mention of the hubcap sized holes she drilled in Jon’s boat at every turn... or should we say on the TLC approved “throw Jon under the bus” media tour stops. Unlike Jon, she seems coherent, she's lying, but she's doing it well, smoothly, but then, they are probably scripting her. Who wants to take a guess on how many shots that little scene took to get right? More self-justification, blah, blah, blah. She martyrs herself, she’s got goals, goals for the kids, she’s going to turn them into happy, productive members of society. Unlike the rest of us who strive for felons and deadbeats. She’s going to make sure the kids grow into adults. Why treat five year olds like babies if you want us to believe that one?

We’d love to hear all the interview questions so we’d know how they lead Jon into talking about himself and Kate talking about the kids. He’s going on and on about New York. He’s still rambling. The city life versus the country house. TLC must have been peeing themselves with joy in editing this hatchet job. Oh, count the Kate lies. She wants the kids to see her hard work, her wanting the best for them (the implied meaning here is Jon doesn’t work or want the best for the kids... the anvils are falling fast and furious in this one). She says the kids have questions and when behavior is unacceptable she tells them, but tries not to do it in a disparaging way. Again, this implies Jon is behaving unacceptable and she’s got to tell the kids. She never hesitated to think before she disparaged him in the last 100+ episodes, but who’s counting. She doesn’t want the kids to remember her tearing their father apart. Well that is easy enough, Kate. Shut your mouth and quit doing it.

Jon is babbling about himself at warp speed. And he mentioned Hailey! Do not mention your girlfriend when talking about your divorce, it does not look good. "I know what I need to do to have a friendship with Kate, and what I need to do for my relationship with Hailey." Why, Jon, must you always stick your foot in your mouth, you start looking good then say something stupid.

Kate’s talking about the kids not knowing about girlfriends at all. It’s too early, it’s too warped for them. Well, if they didn’t know before, those kids surely know now. Lovely parenting there. Kate actually goes on and on about the girlfriend situation far longer than Jon. She’s asked if any good has come out of this last eight months. This results in answers that are all about Kate... shocking, we know. Her friends, the advice she gets, her few friends. When this was filmed it was the beginning of the rooster dying. The spikes are falling over. I wonder if there is any truth in this tale of Kate’s. She’s shaking her head and fiddling and self-soothing almost constantly. Whew, maybe they’ll cut short the rest of those wretched interview sessions.

Back from commercial and it’s more martyr time for Kate. Is it hard for her to hear the kids talk about Jon? It is, but she chooses imply that the kids aren’t safe by themselves with Jon. Sure, Kate’s dragged those kids all over the country by herself (and Steve), but the real dangers lie in baseball games or local fishing ponds. She acts like he’s taking them to crack dens or selling pictures of them to strangers. Oh... wait... that was her.

Finally we get to the show. Jon and the kids are making signs for a lemonade stand they are going to set up to raise money for a local fire station. Cara and Mady are bickering. Jon says they weren’t having a particularly good day. They throw markers at each other and whine. Jon tries to move them farther apart from each other, but it’s obvious those two just want to pick at each other and fight. Hannah stares at the tree. After the whining, the fighting, and a lot of unseen minutes (the posters progress during this exchange), Mady snarks “I like stuff we do with Mommy.” Jon tells her she’s done and sends her in the house. He was calm and forthright. He tells Cara that he thinks both of them should stay home, they are unappreciative, and tells her to stop doing her poster. Cara cries like a two year old. It was either irrational also leaving Cara at home or there was definitely more fighting between the twins that we didn’t see. Jon says Mady and Cara were acting rude and they are being punished and have to stay home. He says if they don’t want to participate, they don’t have to, but they aren’t going to drag the rest of them down. It seems Mady and Cara weren’t too happy about having to do something for charity, were whining and crying, and Jon made the decision to not make what should be an enjoyable experience into a miserable one for everyone.

He and the little kids pack up the lemonade stuff and head off to the fire department. The kids sell lemonade and answer questions about their signs. Leah and Alexis fill us in that Mady and Cara weren’t there because of “big, big attitudes.” Out of the mouths of babes! There’s a line of people waiting to buy lemonade and a jar of money raised on the table. Aaden, Hannah, and Colin are in the kids interview area being asked about their lemonade stand. Colin says they “sold a lot of lemonade to old people.” And all the kids laugh. We laugh at the Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies tee shirt Jon has been wearing this day. If memory serves, when this was filmed there was a TON of tabloid reports on the family at the time.

TLC films the paparazzi shooting the lemonade stand and buying lemonade. The paparazzi are right up next to the table. Guess those kids are all educated on the “p-people” now. Jon says the paparazzi should give back since they’ve made a lot of money off of them (the Gosselins). No mention that it’s Jon and Kate’s own doing on that one. Kate worries about Jon’s intentions and motives doing a lemonade stand for the fire department. Is this a publicity stunt, what is the bottom line? She doesn’t like when her “kids are caught in the cross fire of that stuff.” Go ahead and laugh at the irony of that coming out of Kate’s mouth, we did. Charity with Jon is bad, daily jaunts to Target, the nail salon, and Dunkin’ Donuts with Kate is good. Remember that. She likes them better at home hanging out with Jon. She doesn’t think they need to go anywhere with Jon and spend time together. So, only she is allowed to exploit her kids in public?

The Mods said...

The tups were having a blast at the fire station all smiling, laughing, and giggling. Jon lets the kids go check out the station and the fire trucks with the volunteer firemen and their families while he runs the lemonade stand. He reasons that there’s few people that you could trust more with your kids than the firemen. The kids get to climb in the truck, make friends with firemen, play in the fire rescue boat, and amaze over the giant fire ladder. They are having a ball and are all super excited and it carries over to their interview chairs. Jon gets volunteered to put on a firesuit so the kids can see. He didn’t volunteer, but he did it so the kids could see they could trust a fireman. He may fuss a bit he did it for them. The kids loved it and recreate the sound the fire mask and oxygen made. While Jon’s in the suit all the kids rush forward to give him huge kisses. After a picture of the kids in masks and helmets, save Hannah who didn’t want to put it on, Jon hands over the jar of money and tells us how great volunteer fire departments are.

Somehow this becomes all about Kate. At least Kate admits the kids love Jon and need to see him.

Kate: I feel like it ended so suddenly and it’s been taken us, from me and the kids.

That’s like her new mantra.

Oh, my, there is an organic farmer who lives behind their house. In not at all subtle shots, we see the kids actually getting cups of milk. It’s been almost a year since they’ve moved (forget they pretended they moved in the spring and not last November), so it’s time to visit the farm and see what farming is all about. Haven’t we seen this before 3 or 4 times now? Kate makes sure to say it’s a day the twins are in school as she tells the tups to put on shoes and socks. She claims Mady and Cara were very upset they didn’t get to go. If this is true, why couldn’t they have done this episode when the kids weren’t in school? So they’re going to walk to the farm and Kate’s concern is old shoes, not comfortable shoes. Some of the tups dance around in some kind of storage room, singing about their shoes. It looks like a drugstore down there. There’s shelves stocked full of products. Raise your hand if you think those were all free! After a meltdown from Hannah about her boots, we see something we haven’t seen before. Kate is putting on sneakers! And wearing them outside! Kate gushes she’s like a regular farmer girl because the cows eat from their fields... but she doesn’t have to do anything since the farmer does it all. Farm women all over the country are no doubt laughing at her right now. She puts the kids in stupid hats and shoves them down the road. Ever the loving mother, one of the girls says “I’ve never seen 8 kids walking down the road” and earns a “You’re right cuz there are only 6.” Her next book should be “How to Crush their Spirit in Eight Easy Steps.”

The Mods said...

Oh joy. Kate and the helper walk the kids out on the country road. Oh, joy to film an episode they impede traffic with the crew behind them blinking hazard lights. Why not just take them in a van to keep from blocking the road? Kate drags the kids down the street, they trip and jostle for position. She claims this was going to be a mile walk, but who knows. The kids are practically running to keep up with her and there’s shoe problems. Of course the kids could walk the distance needed to visit the farm, but they were wearing cowboy boots. Now if you regularly wear cowboy boots, your feet adjust and you can walk a long distance, but if you only wear them to play dress-up or visit a dude ranch, and you are five years old, your feet might just hurt a bit. And so she keeps yelling at Aaden to be a man, and not to cry, as he yells that his feet, in cowboy boots, hurt. He isn't a man, Kate. He's a little, tiny five year old trying to walk in cowboy boots. He probably got blisters too. She says her attitude is they are five and they should buck up and do it. While she’s in comfy tennis shoes and they (the boys at least) are in uncomfortable cowboy boots. The photos showed Steve, but TLC manages not to show him.

Thank goodness Forrest the farmer showed up in the tractor with the wagon so we don’t have hear any more whining and Kate prattle about walking and her slow, complaining five year olds (her words). But then we get some odd yodelish noise from her. Again TLC makes sure we don’t see anyone walking along side the hay ride. Kate says how lovely the organic cows are and that they eat with their mouths open and sound like the kids. Someone in editing gives us a great shot of Kate chomping on her gum, looking just like the cows chewing on their cuds, as she tells her children they eat like cows. It must be an inherited trait. After she points out the udders to the kids, she says “Boys and their udder issues. Uh. I’m not ready to deal with that.”

Teaser for the next segment...

Kate: I had no idea our trip to the dairy farm would be our very last shoot. It’s cut short. It’s too soon.

There might even be a tear there.

Kate reads from cards with a very stilted statement as they show footage of them getting off the wagon and going into the barn. It’s so completely unnatural and has that fake over rehearsed tone to it. And she thinks she’s going to have a talk show! HA! The kids and Kate pet the milk cow. We get more fakey voice over. The kids are supposed to be milking a cow, but instead find a kitten. They squeeze the kitten. Forrest tries to show how to milk but the girls have hissy fits over who has the kitten. Then Kate takes it so all the little girls can scream about it. Lots of screeching about kittens. Forrest is ignored. Much screaming over barn cats ensues. Not a word from Kate telling them to speak quietly or take turns.

Up next on the animal parade is bottle feedings with the pitiful calves. The tups scared them witless. They whine and screech and shove bottles at the poor baby cows. Kate informs us the calves were so afraid they were peeing. This begs the question of why did Kate allow their behavior to continue to the point of animal terror? Oh, now we see why, she’s too busy with the kitten. Kate is carrying the kitten and holding it over the foobs instead of teaching the kids to share or how to hold it. She says she’s holding it to keep it from “being severed into pieces.” She chomps her cud and turns away as her kids torture the calves some more. She shows no interest in what her kids are doing as she holds the kitten.

Finally they make it to the milking area. Kate lets us know the kids were bored so she had to ask Forrest if they could help hook the cows to the milkers. She actually is paying attention to what the kids are doing and gives a bit of encouragement. Kate has to relate it to herself that she felt like that after the tups were born.

The Mods said...

The kids are all done scaring the animals so it’s snack time. Kate makes sure to point out it’s an organic snack and fresh milk. The Hershey’s syrup they squeezed into the cups probably made the snack healthier and more organic. We get yet another really bad voice over “At the time, I had no idea that this trip to the dairy farm would be our very last shoot.” The kids mime milking cows. Kate says the kids drank and drank the milk. She says they “don’t often have cup after cup after cup of milk. Organic milk is expensive.” Her saying the kids don't drink much milk cause it is expensive is classic. Were the hooker heels and boobs less expensive?

Kate says she’s sure they will be back at the farm, heaves a huge sigh, and says Mady and Cara keep asking about it. Poor girls will probably never get to go now that there’s not a camera crew following them. She says for about the 100th time how the show was taken too soon from her and the kids. She says that the fact Jon isn’t there with her is not lost on her. When she goes somewhere with the kids she always thinks Jon should be in the driver’s seat and she should be in the passengers seat. Well, then she should have let him IN the driver's seat once in a while. She says “to clarify, I never wanted that to change.” And then she promptly tells us she “maybe wanted roles to change, people to step up, stress loads to shift, but I never wanted him absent from that driver’s seat.” So, in other words, Jon was a horrible slacker who did nothing while she did it all. Sure we know this to be an absolute lie, but that’s the new story she and TLC have concocted and she’s sticking to it.

Jon’s rambling interview from the beginning of the show is back. It’s unfortunate the marriage failed, but the family shouldn’t. He adds they definitely won’t be married again. He says he’s going to have to learn to take initiative for himself and he’s going to always be there for the kids, no mat-ter (his pronunciation) what.

We get the producer asking “What emotions do you have knowing this is the last time you sit in that chair?” to Kate. “Stop it, are you trying to make me cry? He is (said to someone off camera).” She says yet again it’s sad, it’s cut short, it’s too soon. She starts crying that they’ve had a “great run.” Hmmm... that’s a creepy way to describe your family life. She’s grateful for the memories on tape, the support, for people who took them into their living rooms and watched her kids grow up. Hmm... that’s even creepier. She moves on to tears and talks about support and flirts with the producer as she grabs a tissue. She ends with saying she never had a clear picture of how it would end and, say it with us, it’s too soon. Something jumps out at us; Kate very obviously is sadder about the show ending then her marriage ending. Tells a lot about her, none of it good.

There’s a montage of the thousands and thousands of hours of footage with some crazy TLC “It’s Your Life” song. Absent are all the times the kids melted down, Kate screamed like a banshee, or Jon shut down emotionally in the interview chair. The very last shot is the entire family in a group picture at the tups 5th birthday party, the one where Jon and Kate barely spoke to each other and they used as episode fodder to announce they had split up. Included is a caption that reads

Jon, Kate & Family,
Thank you for sharing your lives with us.

It should have read

Jon, Kate & Family,
We are sorry for what we have done.

That’s it. The very last show. We shake our heads at what has become of this family. What started as a one time special about a large, but relatively average family, has ended after four years, 100+ episodes, and in what can only be described as an utter mess. Only time will tell what will become of this family, the children in particular, but if history proves it’s self to be true, it won’t be pretty. The fall out potential is huge, especially for the kids. Cara, Mady, Colin, Joel, Aaden, Alexis, Leah, and Hannah, may there be peace and happiness in your little lives. We wish you all the best for the future. We are disappointed with Jon and disgusted with Kate, and so happy that this show is over.

That statment tells the whole story about what a horrible LIAR she is. What mother with 8 young children shows up 3 days out of the month? House manager maybe, not a mother. She pays others to love her children, be her family, and speak for her. She will be a laughingstock for years to come.

Standing ovation to all mods! Great work.

Not all is lost. Katie got her boob job (supposedly) and she and Kelly Ripa are on first name terms.

And Jon was the most photograped man in the world at some point.

Great recap, mods! Hmmm, Kate wishes Jon was still in the drivers seat of the Scooby Doo van? Maybe because it's so much harder for her to reach that wooden spoon in the passenger side door when she's in the driver's seat?

Kate tells little Aaden to buck up and be a man. The poor little thing was clearly uncomfortable wearing cowboy boots.

Remember when Collin bonked his head on a pillar and Kate pawned him off to Jon?

Remember when Kate took the kids to see a Sesame Street Play and Hannah cried to be held when they got out of the van and Kate picked Hannah up and carried her? I wonder why she didn't tell Hannah to buck up and act like a woman.

Dear Mods,

Thanks so much for this sacrifice of your time and, almost certainly, mood over the holiday.

Wanted to respond to two of your points:

"She acts like he’s taking them to crack dens or selling pictures of them to strangers. Oh... wait... that was her."

Stunningly funny but also sent more of those chills down my spine.

--

"She puts the kids in stupid hats and shoves them down the road."

I see the unsuccessful attempt to get the tups to wear the round-crowned, broad brimmed straw hats for the whole episode as a play for the Amish demographic. We all know that the Amish are unsurpassed in hours per household tuned in to reality TV. Lordybe--don't those kids know which side their bread is buttered on? Come to think of it, maybe not--organic butter is more expensive even than milk.

Whew. Good job on the recap. It sounds like a mess of an episode too. All over the place, and filled with half truths and lots of outright lies. Talk about your cutting room floor episodes! TLC must have worked real hard to mold this "stuff" into their latest story lines.

If I were Jon, I wouldn't drink or eat anything that came from a TLC hand.

It is late on Thanksgiving night, I was up late last night, I have to get up early tomorrow to cook another round of meals,
so....
I'm wondering what new scandal is cooking in Gosselin land. They won't want to stay out of the headlines for too long. People will begin to forget them - forget - forget.

I am going to try to stay Gosselin free for a while. And for that small chance, I am VERY thankful!

Of course it's too soon, she had plans for at least ten more years of this kind of cash, it's already been spent.

Kate very obviously is sadder about the show ending then her marriage ending.
---------------------

Sure she is, the marriage only gave her the children after all, the show gave her the money. She doesn't seem to connect that it's because of the children & not herself that she has all this cash, but hey she's a STAR! This woman has become more frightening & delusional than Norma Desmond could ever be (& Desmond is the fictional character, go figure, the irony, life is stranger than fiction). I can see it now a budding new film director and his debut film "Andrew Avenue" (sorry, that's the old street they lived on, I don't know the name of the road kate is currently living on.)

Kate is such a hypocrite. She and TLC should be ashamed of way they put Jon down, one day these kids are going to see these shows and know exactly what a nasty person their mother is.

I hope Kate never graces our screens again.

In several episodes she talks about how she likes to incorporate education in to their trips.

So, why did she not take time to correct the children when they kept calling the dairy cows "he" and "him"? Male cows do not have udders and are called steers or bulls. Dairy cows are females and have udders. Why not explain that the udders makes them females as that is where the milk comes from.

They were there to "learn about the farm" but did not get corrected on a major point such as this?????

It is a small, petty point but it needs to be stated. Kate could care less about educating her kids.... it is all about the photo op.

Thank you all for all the recaps!

She likes them better at home hanging out with Jon. She doesn’t think they need to go anywhere with Jon and spend time together. So, only she is allowed to exploit her kids in public?

Don't forget this little wish of hers came on the heels of her complaining that Jon never takes the kids anywhere. It's also interesting she trusted him as a parent until he stopped the filming. Or at least until May or June when the tabloids really picked up. Otherwise why would she leave him as sole guardian while she flipflopped around the country. If he was the horrid father she claims he wouldn't have bothered to stay home with the kids while she slandered him coast-to-coast, he would have taken a page from her book and hired 'not-a-nannies' to be a dad for him while he partied.

She promptly tells us she “maybe wanted roles to change, people to step up, stress loads to shift, but I never wanted him absent from that driver’s seat.”

I didn't get this one either. Jon stayed home every day for two years (Kate was out 20-25 days a month), Jon bathed all 8 kids every night for five seas... oops years, Jon brushed their teeth, Jon got them dressed, Jon got them off to school, Jon made Kate's morning coffee even he was working, Jon loaded/unloaded the vehicles whenever they travelled, Jon was on beck & call duty 24/7. What did Kate do? Kate ordered Jon around, Kate picked out the matching outfits, Kate freaked over any kind of dirt on anything that could be resold for higher value (celebrity raises prices ya know), Kate promoted books someone else wrote (she totally ripped God off by not crediting him for the verses she stole in 'Faces').

I'm sure if Kate asked Jon he would have loved to switch roles. Or maybe that's exactly what happened and she's now complaining to wants them to switch *back* to when Jon was under her thumb.

If not, I'm at a loss. Jon was every bit a hands-on father surpassing what most typical dads would do. And I truly believe his 'sullen' behaviour was due to being forced to film yet another scripted scenario he had no interest in. Even then he still managed to interact more lovingly with the kids (exception being the twins) than Kate ever has.

*************
this bothered me too! But Kate only incorporates education into their trips if someone else is responsible for it. We have seen over and over that Kate either ignores or is unaware of the numerous learning opportunities that occur. How often have we mothers screamed at the TV--"Kate! explain that to them!" "Kate! acknowledge that they're curious." "Kate! Help them!" But she's too busy playing to the camera to notice that her children are humans with needs, wants, questions.

I think the turning point for me on this show was when I realized that KATE was the focus of the show (at least in her mind) and not the family. Why in the world did TLC start allowing her to talk to the camera instead of her children?? Hopefully with the cameras off, she will discover there are others right in her own home that she can communicate with.

In this episode, I was saddened that TLC used the obviously old film of Jon in the interview chair and had Kate tape something new. It really put him in a bad light. But then again, I think most viewers are smart enough to see right through Kate's accusations and know that SHE is the one who primarily courts the p-people, who parades her children in public, who pretends to fish for her car keys so she can extend her time in the limelight by 3 extra minutes.

I am so glad this show is over! But I fear for the future of these children.

I watched this show from the very first special until last winter. I was a die-hard fan of the show, if not of the parents and their dysfunctional relationship and ineffective parenting. I honestly can't believe where this has gone. Initially I could relate to their struggles...financially, physically and emotionally providing for their children, but as the bickering grew more pronounced and as it became apparent that these parents didn't give a flip about the emotional wellbeing of their children, I lost interest. I have a daughter who is exactly the same age as Mady and Cara, and I am not exaggerating when I say I would die before I would let her come under the scrutiny and criticism these girls have come under. It is chilling to, as a poster suggested on another thread, google "Mady Gosselin" and see 660,000 hits. It's creepy and appalling. Any parent who would willingly do this to their child is seriously disturbed. I can't imagine willingly throwing my precious child's private moments, her emotional reactions, her meltdowns, her struggles, into the public eye for microscopic examination and scrutiny. I can't imagine calling attention to her flaws (physical and emotional) on national TV. I can't imagine having her images available freely on the world-wide web for pedophiles and perverts to peruse at will. It's just horrific, IMO, and indicative of what truly terrible and selfish parents these two really are.

I first started asking questions about Kate when I heard her making fun of Jon for being "fat" on national TV...for snatching washable markers out of the kids' hands at the crayola factory...for ruining a perfectly normal ice cream outing at Disney...for refusing to allow her children to roll down a hill because of potential grass stains. I slowly realized that she is actually a very selfish, very "small" person emotionally. She is not anyone I would ever admire or want to emulate. As we saw more and more of who Kate really IS, she became someone I couldn't even stomach watching or listening to anymore.

I wish all those children well, especially the twins, who touch my heart especially deeply because of my precious daughter...

Bravo!!!!

I caught a little of what the last show was about and you all did a splendid job. Kate always makes me throw up in my mouth as I mutter "Bitch" constantly at my TV screen.

I feel badly for the kids, God only knows how she will treat them without benefit of the cameras and crew. I would love to see someone really step in and remove them from the clutches of the Witch of the East.

Good job, and I'll still be here even though I've only posted a few times in the past.

The Norma Desmond analogy is spot on! Too bad Jon and Kate can't be forced to watch footage of their behavior from all the episodes. In Illinois, every couple going through divorce is required to take parenting classes. There are tons of 'how not to parent' examples in every episode.

Kate, Kate, Kate. Jon has his faults but he was much more of a hands on parent than you were. Who dressed them, bathed them, cleaned diapers, drove you everywhere..... the list goes on. It does not bode well for the future when you cannot give him credit for anything and you constantly belittle him to his children and anyone else within earshot or camera range.

You said it all right there. Thanks for the recap. I relapsed and put TLC back on my channel line-up; taped the show. Won't watch it now; don't need to. Just not interested. Over. Done. Gone. Amen.

Maybe, just maybe without the cameras on these children will be allowed to eat, instead of continuing to compound their emotional abuse and neglect with malnourishment.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but I also have the feeling that one of the reasons Kate doesn't want the show to end is that she loses a lot of her help! I kind of get the feeling that kate is overwhelmed by all the kids. Having producers there so often (at least several days a week) made her life easier as she had people to help watch the kids for her. And now, with Jon gone, i think it is freaking her out.

Long time reader, first time poster (I think, lol)...

Usually I come here with something I'd like to say about the shows, but as I read through, I find that others have already said it (and usually better than I could've), so I just read. But today I have an original thought, and I can't let the whole series pass without having a small say ;)

Here are the lyrics to the emotional and inspirational song with the montage at the end:

Album: My Paper Heart
Artist: Francesca Battistelli

"This is the moment
It’s on the line
Which way you gonna fall?
In the middle between
Wrong and right
But you know after all

(Chorus)
It’s your life
What you gonna do?
The world is watching you
Every day the choices you make
Say what you are and who
Your heart beats for
It’s an open door
It’s your life

Are you who you always said you would be?
With a sinking feeling in your chest
Always waiting for someone else to fix you
Tell me when did you forget

To live the way that you believe
This is your opportunity
To let your life be one that lights the way"

Although it seems hopeless, I pray that Kate will reflect on these words, and make some earth-shattering (in a positive way) changes in their life. Jon could still a few doses still too... he seems to "get it" when it comes to the kids, but he's still making very poor choices in his own life.

Great job mods, as usual! The last show could have actually been made into a sweet good-bye. Instead, it was the most disgusting show of all IMO. I'm not a big fan of Dr. Phil, but every now and then he does say something that makes sense. One of his sayings is, "the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior." That being said, God help this family.

I've enjoyed this blog from minute I first found it sometime last year. Most of the time I agreed with everything that was said. I've found so many of you to be intelligent, caring, loving and witty people (many good writers, too). I wish the very best for all of you.

Another great recap! I am going to miss these great recaps, which have ALWAYS been MUCH better than the actual episodes. Certainly far more truthful. Thanks to all the mods for all you've done to keep GWoP alive.

This epi sounds like every other epi (cough b.s. cough), but probably the creme de la crap. The last two seasons were poorly and unprofessionally thrown together. TLC clearly did not know how to quit while they were ahead. Tragically, neither did Kate Gosselin.

I would love to believe this is the end of the Gosselins on tv, but Jon's behavior and chosen phrasing of his rationale for taking the kids off tv still haunts me....'harmful to the kids to be filmed WHILE THEIR PARENTS ARE GOING THROUGH DIVORCE' (paraphrasing). This leaves the door open at an uncomfortable angle to this viewer. Further, as skeptical as I've become about Jon and Kate, I have to wonder if Jon and his lawyer, knowing the continued fame and fortune is certainly Kate's Achilles' heel, might be using this 'no kids on camera' as the ultimate divorce bargaining chip. It would be wonderful to be wrong about this suspicion, but, frankly, neither Jon and Kate have given much cause to believe in their motives, integrity, and emotional stability/maturity.

And so it's with hopeful yet skeptical feelings that I look toward my tv screen, grateful each time it is Gosselinless. Let us hope all of the Gosselins fade quickly into obscurity.

Thanks again to the mods, and to all the blogger buddies, I will miss your comments, insights, and fun reads. Wishing everyone peace, health, and hugs and love from your loved ones.

First off, thank you very much to Sharla, Breanna, Fostersmom, JoyRene, and Maggie for their incredibly hard work on this blog. I looked forward to signing on every day and reading everyone's comments. I would literally feel sick to my stomach every Monday night after an episode, wondering if anyone felt the same way I did about this ridiculous woman airing on TLC. I'd come across a sheeple or two in my own life and had no words to say to them - because if they were that foolish to begin with, what is there to say? Then I'd feel relief when I realized that the people on this blog are intelligent enough to see the truth. So many of these posts are so well-written. I wish I could put my thoughts into words the way you guys do! I try, but mostly I have just enjoyed seeing you guys say it best! :)

The show has ended, but the fight for the children's sake is far from over. Kate truly believes that a healthy, positive thing was snatched away from her and the kids, and that's the problem. Will she get the message and start turning things around for her kids, or will she immerse herself into her own selfish career and forget about them (unless, of course, she finds a way to drag them onto her new show)? We are all sick and tired of the lies, the contradictions, and her nonstop pity party as she claims that she is working on a peaceful relationship with Jon, then turns around and speaks horribly to/about him. There is just too much to mention.

The bottom line is that those children deserve far more than what they've received. If they have positive enough outside influences from nannies, teachers, and loyal friends, maybe they will be okay. Every child deserves to be raised in a healthy environment with parents/people who are intelligent enough to know what they REALLY need while they're growing up.

God bless the Gosselin 8! I am on your side always - all eight of you! May your lives be happy, healthy, and safe, and may you find a way to live productive lives as you grow older - but for yourselves, not your parents or anyone else.

Thanks for another great recap Mods! You guys are awesome! I hope the children will now have privacy and never have to live in the media spotlight again. Jon take good care of them. Even if Jon hadn't pulled the plug on the show it wouldn't have gone much longer. The kids have "cringe factor" now. They are ill-behaved and spoiled. I do not understand why she allows them to scream and whine the way they do. This is what happens when you give kids everything and don't instill values and discpline. Children are a direct reflection of their parents.

I watched it on youtube... of all the things they didn't show in the montage, why did they leave out Beth Carson and some of her sweet moments with the kids... why did they leave out the shot of Kevin and Leah when she was holding onto that shelving in the "old house" garage like a little Mighty Minnie Mouse (and a sweet Uncle Kevin moment)... why did they not show the tons of sweet and loving moments with Jodi, of Mady being so patient and loving to her cousin, Benny, or anything of Nana Janet (who I loved almost as much as Jodi and Kevin)??

I just think they lost what could have been a sweet montage to remind us of all the support they had back in the day (which they alienated/cut out of their lives... okay... which KATE did that to)... even if they did have to spin it to their own purpose.

Because true, effective parenting is hard work. When has Kate done anything that required hard effort in her life? She spanks those kids with her hands and most likely with a wooden spoon and any other implement handy, but that's not effective parenting and we all know it. That's taking out your frustration or anger ... and we see the results.

The sad truth is that Kate does not really find her children of interest, except as a means to an end. That's why I always shake my head when people wish she'd stay home with those children more. She's toxic and the less time she's with them, the better for the children.

Yesterday after hearing Arlo and eating dinner with my family, this came to mind.

With apologies to the late, great Janis Joplin, I submit:

"Oh kids, won't you buy me a mercedes benz,
The paps all drive porsches and I have no friends,
I use them then toss them, it's one of my trends,
So kids, won't you buy me a mercedes benz.

Oh kids, won't you buy me a house on the beach,
This house was forever, now it's time to leave.
I drove out your father, it's too big for me,
So kids won't you buy me a house on the beach.

Oh kids won't you buy me a night on the town,
You paid for my boobs, now I must show them around.
Prove that you love me and buy me a gown.
Oh kids, won't you buy me a night on the town."

Thanks for another excellent recap - way "realer"
than TLC's fake reality.
Thank God they didn't take home a kitten!
For the sake of the DOGS, I am glad they are gone (Merry Christmas children).
For Jon's sake I am glad he is out of this marriage. Keep loving your children and get your act together.
I hope that Katie Irene develops a modicum of self awareness and goes into therapy. (I can dream.........)
I hope these children are not permanently damaged and that they get to live the rest of their lives without the scrutiny of televison and paparazzi cameras
and that they are allowed to make friends their own age (!)
and reconnect with their extended family.

TLC, may you burn in hell. Your obsession with this particular family makes me think it is about more than money.
I have been equating TLC with those trashy shows on MTV and Vh1 until I realized that I was doing them a disservice:
MTV and Vh1 don't exploit children.

She doesn’t want the kids to remember her tearing their father apart.

I'm sure that most parents say this, and that a lot of them have already failed by the time they say it, but this has to be the first case where.... the mother has no chance of keeping her kids from remember her tearing their father apart due to the fact that they and anyone else can buy 5 "seasons" worth of it on DVD.

After I'd left home and I was an emotional basket case and didn't know why - maybe I blocked it all out? - years later, I picked up my diary, from the brief period in which I wrote one, and Figured Out Why.
Kate's kids will get it In Living Color.
In fact, if TLC was planning ahead, they'd be auditioning therapists right now.* (gee, I hope the kids can sue TLC to pay for their therapy.)

*not that I would trust anyone they would hire.

Yesterday, cleaning the DVR, I came across an ep of Oprah with J&K but even better, with Bill & Jen. They explained that they were doing their show to (in other words) raise consciousness and to help other people (kids) with skeletal dysplasia (something like that) and then Oprah brought out a little girl, as an example.

I hate TLC. I really do. But I like Bill & Jen. The only children I ever see on their show are her patients, and I assume *their* parents have signed releases.

I do wish that I had seen their first special (pilot?) though. I only vaguely remember it.

The other segment was a grossly overweight woman. I guess she didn't get good ratings..

Pamela Jaye said...

she's more upset at the end of the show than at the end of her marriage

actually, I believe she cried about that a lot as well, perhaps we just forget because we (or I) interpreted everything she said at the the time, about "what has transpired," as her being miserable that she didn't have her little slave/puppet to order around and do all her work for her all the time anymore. After all, she spent half a day "curled up in a (chair, ball, something)" crying about it (while her kids likely had to fend for themselves and despite the fact that the whole thing was her decision)

Pamela Jaye said...

meantime, I really wish that when Jon says pedophiles and money in the same paragraph, he could punctuate, or word the sentence in such a way as to make clear that his goal was not to display them "for" the pedophiles.

The guy on Access Hollywood said something like "Oh Jon, why do you have to talk?" I got the feeling he might have agreed that Jon was in no way as evil as he made himself sound - he's just stupid. Then again, he probably thought he was just talking with a friend. And again I feel bad for him. His old neighbor painted him as a friendly guy. Now I can see where he might never want to trust *anyone* ever again.

In the same broadcast, I saw a man who was on TV from the age of 5 and one day away from winning Dancing With the Stars. (which isn't nearly as easy as it sounds). The man who, after he won, ran to the audience, picked up his wife and carried her out to stand with him, who held up the presentation by running across to hug the woman he beat, and afterward ran to grab the sister whose score he *was trying to beat* to stand on the stage with him.

I've read Donny Osmond's book. It wasn't all roses. But at last his parents weren't so wrapped up in either themselves or fame, that it turned out much better than it might have (see Michael Jackson).

(no offense to the fans of the highly talented Mr Jackson, but something bad happened to that kid)

Thanks for the funny, insightful recap, mods! I watched the last 15 minutes and was disgusted by the hypocritical, double-talking Kate--I couldn't have tolerated the full hour.
RE: NE Psychologist--great song parody--it rings true on many levels.
There's a pop song out by Rhianna and TI -"Live Yor Life" that my daughter has on CD--it's a snarky take on fame and fortune that reminds me of Kate every time I hear it:
"Your values is in disarray, prioritizing horribly
Unhappy with your riches 'cause you're piss-poor morally
Ignoring all prior advice and forewarning
And we're mighty full of ourselves, all of a sudden, aren't we?"
Also--to the commenter that mentioned that Kate reminded them of Nora Desmond in "sunset Boulevard"--I thought the same thing, too. There are other characters in popular culture that remeind me of Kate:
Veruca Salt (Willy Wonka)
Nurse Ratched (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest)
"Lonesome" Rhodes (A Face in the Crows)
Baby Jane (Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?)
and, of course, not a ficticious character, but Joan Crawford, as "Mommie Dearest."

11/27/2009 10:13 AM

****************************

She is freaking out, I agree. If she is no longer in the public eye, no longer "popular," no longer the center of the viewing public's attention, and no longer being waited on hand and foot, what oh what will she do? I see a bout of serious depression in Katie Irene's future.

I watched the last episode this morning on youtube. As usual, I tried to imagine, "what would this scene look like if Kate was a normal mom?" Take the scene for instance of all of them walking down the road to the dairy farm. Instead of telling Aaden to "be a man" Kate would have, first of all, allowed the kids to wear comfortable shoes, and second of all, commiserated a little with the poor little sore-footed five year old, and tried to encourage him a bit. It broke my heart to see Aaden's tears, poor little boy.

Instead of hollering at everyone to hold hands and quit pulling, as she marched in front setting a brisk pace, a normal mom would perhaps sing a song with the kids (which they seem to enjoy) to take their minds off the Bataan Death March, or point out interesting sights to distract them. She might even (horrors!) stay behind them in order to be able to sort of herd them along and keep her eye on all of them, without needing to control them all physically and remain front and center for the cameras.

As an average viewer, I might even enjoy tuning in to a nice normal mom behaving normally with her cute little brood. I might even enjoy it more than I enjoy tuning in to watch the neurotic, narcissistic train wreck that is Kate Gosselin.

Kate's lies said...

When Jon and Kate went to Carolina and took a ride on the beach to see the wold horses Kate said that she couldn't get hop into the jeep that Mady and Cara were riding because she had a skirt on.

"Kate worries about Jon’s intentions and motives doing a lemonade stand for the fire department. Is this a publicity stunt, what is the bottom line? She doesn’t like when her “kids are caught in the cross fire of that stuff.” Go ahead and laugh at the irony of that coming out of Kate’s mouth, we did."

I swear, when Kate came out with that whole line, my jaw was just hanging open for about ten minutes. That was the exact moment that I turned off the television set and came upstairs to the computer, where I logged onto GWoP and hoped that someone on the blog could speak up about that scene, because one thing's for sure: I had absolutely no words for it. The irony and the full-out hypocrisy was so insane, I'm surprised I wasn't puking the rest of the night. That woman must be either devoid of any conscience she ever may have had, or else she doesn't get a single minute of sleep at night. Even now, I still don't really have any words for it - nothing that seems fitting enough, anyway. Maybe I just take it too seriously, but honestly, if Kate has the balls to look square at the camera and say something like that on television, then she can just make her own bed and sleep in it, because that's what she's going to do anyway. I wish her well in dealing with whatever life she has left when she is no longer able to earn a thousand dollars for every pathetic lie that comes out of her mouth. Go ahead, TLC. Give her another million while you can. Just don't expect to profit from it for much longer.

Interesting that one of the posters here mentioned Jen from Little Couple (don't watch it, but have read about her somewhere). I've been following the Stansel's blog and Jen was taking care of one of their surviving daughters, who had to be moved to another hospital to undergo eye surgery.

I was cleaning out my DVR the other day and came across an episode of Regis and Kelly, with the Hayes family. What a contrast. Their 4 your olds came out, shook hands politely with Regis (as did the older children). It was all "Yes, Sir; Yes, Ma'am". The kids answered questions clearly and coherently. Quite a contrast with the Gosselin 6, who can barely form sentences and can't speak very clearly. And when have we ever heard any of them use "Sir" or "Ma'am"? No screaming, yelling or hitting. Very little fidgeting. No one dressed in matching outfits. Just normal, every day, comfortable clothing. Like night and day.

The entire final episode was full of vindictiveness that came through loud and clear with all the cleverly worded, mean spirited little comments putting Jon down throughout! Kate says she's sorry she doesn't have Jon in the driver's seat anymore...but she's the one who invited him OUT when she filed for the divorce. I agree with a comment on another thread that said maybe Kate actually filed for the divorce just as her major, last ditch ploy to get Jon to change his mind about continuing the filming...that she didn't anticipate for a second that he wouldn't give in...I mean after 10 years of living with him, she just knew it was more in his character to totally cave! What a shock that must have been to her when he stood firm. And what a good indicator to everyone how he puts his kids first beyond his own emotional comfort.

Anyway, whether that was her motive in filing or not, it still remains that SHE is the one who opted for the single+8 life without Jon. And now that he too is going on with his own life, she seems to convey that she feels abandoned. Oh my gosh, the psychological implications of that mindset I'll leave to a professional!

I'm pretty much in agreement with everyone who's said this woman has her priorities mixed up big time! What does it tell us that she has lost all of her friends and family members...and I do mean ALL. She really must have a LOT of unforgiveness in her heart to keep the wall up between herself, her kids and her & Jon's family along with all those who have befriended and helped her over the years! So now by her own admission she just has the Neilds and a couple others as her friends? To my mind that says an awful lot about her! And I'm betting that the few people she currently considers friends spend hours & hours listening to HER issues...that being apparently what friendship means to her. I bet they have to watch every word they say since it apparently doesn't take all that much to tick her off and turn her back on them. With her track record, I give this new friendship a real short shelf life.

The recaps here have been well done, thank you to all the mods for your time and efforts, you're just incredible! Comments on this blog have really captured the real deal of what's going down with this show, with TLC, and with J&K. Sometimes I've missed some incredible tall tale that K has told or some strange event that occurred and someone has written about it. And I was so glad to find out that I wasn't alone in thinking how hateful and manipulative K really is! God bless the Gosselin kids and may God help their parents.

Well, Kate does love her mini-me Hannah. Why else did Khate come up with that lame excuse that Hannah gets migraines (what 6 year olds get migraines?) so she should have her own room? THe twins share rooms, the other girl tups share rooms and the boy tups share rooms.

But not her Hannie. Hannie gets her own room.

Khate is evil personified. It's just a shame that Jon is a naive loser who can't keep himself together for his children. Instead he is making all the wrong choices and making Khate look like a saint. Sometimes you wonder if Jon is low IQ or just plain stupid/selfish?
----------------------

The sad truth is that Kate does not really find her children of interest, except as a means to an end. That's why I always shake my head when people wish she'd stay home with those children more. She's toxic and the less time she's with them, the better for the children.

I've been a reader and sometime poster of this site, and want to thank the mods and everyone for keeping me entertained.

I've heard people say this is a "hate" site, but after spending time reading the thoughts and recaps, I've learned there is alot of love here...love of family, love of children, love of common sense, love of what's right.

So many times I've thought something was wrong with Kate (especially in the beginning, alarms went off) and I thought I was alone in my thinking. I have found I'm not so alone in my disgust of this wretched woman..the more she brags about herself, the more she acts entitled, the more she bashes her husband..I'm filled with this putrid sense of nausea.

I can only hope she STAYS off the tv, off the magazines, that the idiot sheeple will not keep this deranged monster in the limelight.

I wish nothing best for the kids. I wish nothing but for Kate to lose all her money and material wealth, making her appreciate all she has. I wish Jon to find humility and maturity, and he find a better path for himself and his kids.

This family is royally #$%%@# up.

Thanks, TLC, your job is done.

To the Mods...a heart felt thank you for each and every recap. I have really enjoyed reading everybody's posts and am always amazed at the wisdom and clarity of everyone. I have laughed, nodded my head in agreement and loved it when a poster recalls something from seasons ago that I had forgotten.
It has been quite a ride for all of us..I just hope those 8 little kiddies can have some semblance of normal now...but with those two attention seekers...it is highly doubtful.
This has been a great blog, a wonderful outlet for everyone to share their thoughts and I thank everyone who has participated.

"She martyrs herself, she’s got goals, goals for the kids, she’s going to turn them into happy, productive members of society."

Unlike Kate, herself, who'd rather suck the life out of her husband, her marriage, and her kids, all in the name of unearned wealth, unabashed entitlement, and unbridled greed.

Kate, no amount of plastic surgery, cosmetic dentistry, or designer clothing can make a person, who is as ugly as you are on the inside, beautiful.

I mentioned this on another thread...

Do you think Kate will ever realize that if she HAD ONLY shown a TINY bit of interest in being eco-friendly, even if she just FAKED a GLIMMER of interest...nope, burned that bridge...

If she had been even SLIGHTLY respectful to all those big name companies that rushed to give her anything/everything she asked/'hinted' for...yet another burned bridge...

MAYBE she COULD have been a spokesperson for the crap (WTF? mom-friendly make-up?!) she tried to market and was rejected...

SO many MISSED OPPORTUNITIES all because she is just one giant bitch!

I just wonder if she is kicking herself in her fat butt with a pointy stilletto...

INSIGHT, Kate, INSIGHT.

I'm not a mod or any super amazing poster on GWOP & can only speak for me, but you're posts read as good as everyone else, you're clear, insightful & have a fun sense of humour. I like reading you're posts just fine & have noticed when things have gone by & you haven't posted, same as I notice with the others when they don't post. I don't usually say much about it as the mods have 100's of posts to deal with & I have been adding to that number terribly, sorry mods & thanks for all you do, you really are the best!

That's how I found GWOP. A repeat of the furniture store incident was on, where they went to get the beds & the one little guy had the impaction. I turned it off once I knew which one it was because I didn't want to watch that again. 10 minutes later I realized I was really, really angry. Angry at kate for ignoring her son's pain, giving him less regard than many would extend to a stranger's child if they were suffering. another. I thought, someone has to be as irritated with kate as I am. I googled a few things, ended up at the GWOP site & realized I was far from alone in wanting to tear ms. katie a new one.

Having producers there so often (at least several days a week) made her life easier as she had people to help watch the kids for her. And now, with Jon gone, i think it is freaking her out.
-----------------

I've always gotten the impression that kate was overwhelmed by all the children, even in the early ones there are some tell tail cracks, she just never seemed able to cope. If she'd been a decent person, I'd feel sorry for her, but she had to act like a jerk, blab on and on about how she did it all. I say looks good on her, now she really will have to do it all herself. Time that girl faced her demons.

That said, I worry about the children, because mommy dearest being home with them 24/7 is not a good idea at all. Kate has never struck me as a pillar of metal stability. I fear for what she might do to the children, I fear for what she might do to keep the publics attention & I fear what she will do to try & keep her so called TV career going.

We've had two scenario's that played out very differently in recent times (there are more than the two I'm listing). We had balloon boy & we had Brittany Spears losing it. I can see kate in either of these, in which case she would lose custody of her children & they would go to Jon, who treats them far better & that would be good, however I don't want them to go through anything terrible, they've been through more than enough already.

Kate's a nut, I wouldn't trust her to babysit roadkill, she should never be allowed out of the sight of sane adults.

We have heard from people in the know up here in Reading, PA that the so called "Kate project for 2010" is already being filmed. It is an organic travel show, where Kate (without the kids) goes to different natural food markets and restaurants throughout the nation. Her show is supposedly a mirrored format of the Food Network show; Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives hosted by Guy Fieri albeit an organic and healthy version. So she will be the focus of two TLC shows and possibly part of the proposed talk show with Paula Deen. How much time for the kids now???

-----------------------------------

Apparently the "mirrored format" extends to the hosting. Fieri is a charismatic sort who knows what he's talking about, while Kate is an undereducated boor who couldn't tell her ass from her elbow without help from the producers.

TLC's millions can't buy anything resembling legitimacy for Kate. She won't be projecting an aura of credibility when she starts offering up comments on grass-fed vs. corn-fed beef. She hasn't said anything meaningful about organic milk, and I doubt any writer can come up with anything that'll sound good coming out of her mouth.

It'll be interesting to see how close this show can get to a major city where the locals know something about organic/natural foods. Kate would be out of her league in the San Francisco Bay Area. Alice Waters probably wouldn't want to even give the time of day to that dolt. On the other hand, Waters might have a suggestion or two on how to cook that thing on top of Kate's head.

Where, next? I've posted to Toddlers and Tiaras, but I think I will try to do something, whatever I can to help initiate/further/pass legeslation to get kids off reality TV.

Thank goodness the show is over. Kate's new project - what a joke! Anyway, TLC is forever out of our lives. The Loser Channel, indeed. I used to enjoy "What Not to Wear", but can not, will not, give that station another minute of my viewership.

Good Bye Gosselins
by Jan

If the hours were counted and added all up
That we spent in disgust and praying for each tup
I think that we’d find that the Gosselins received
Too much of our time, since we all were deceived
We watched in amazement regarding the birth
And looked at Kate’s tummy, expanding in girth
We sent them good wishes and little did we know
They’d turn on their relatives and treat them as foe
We took in the lies and organic self-spouting
Till season by season we all began doubting
Our blog was our vehicle to compare our notes
And we could all chime in as the G.s got our goats
They pushed all our buttons until we could scream
Then people split into groups of Kate or Jon’s team
There’s one thing we all know, now that we’ve watched
A reality show is really a show that is botched
Inexperienced people lured with glitter and gold
Soon find that their contract puts a family on hold
TLC will tell them when to jump, and how high
And meanwhile their family values will die
But the use of young children will never be right
And we tried to protect them with all of our might
So, Jon and Kate…and TLC too
You now owe us –you really do
We wrote, faxed and called and prayed for the kids
While you clowns kept publicly flipping your lids
You didn’t deserve us, nor the time that we spent
But we don’t regret the love or the prayers we sent
To the tiny tots that you used to barter
For fame and money…we hoped you’d be smarter
The show is done now, or almost that is
And we’re done with you and your phony show biz
To my friends on this blog — I’ll really miss you
And hope that God blesses in all that you do
But it’s time for me to head out that door
And think about the lying Gosselins no more
I’ll use my time well and not give it away
To people who will never see the light of day
They didn’t deserve us, but the kids did, of course
So when it comes to the children, I have no remorse
We tried, little eight pawns we really did
We’re sorry that you went for the highest bid
Our hopes for you will always be a regular life
Devoid of your parents’ arguments and strife
Good bye little Gosselins, please grow up so strong
And realize that you did well…it’s Mom & Dad who were wrong

Great recap! As for Kate: she really cares nothing for those kids. She only ever saw them as a commodity, and now she is stuck with them. All the times those kids were hurt, sick etc,(including the dogs) I never once saw the nurse in Kate come out, how dare she call herself a nurse. She is self-centered, narcisst, etc, with a Jerke & Hyde personality. The only victims here are the kids and yes Jon(he is very screwed up, and is trying to sort his life out, so he can help the kids)Kate has done nothing except dig a deeper hole for herself. And a couple of articles said all of the Jon & K8 episodes were staged and parts redone, and they also said that the Jon bashing was unnecessary, and made her look stupid and foolish along with TLC. And very glad the show is gone.

Kate Has Nothing to Offer Anyone said...

If Fake Kate can get a show of her own, leaving the kids out, so be it. I can not for the life of me understand why anyone would watch, other than the sheeples, who think Kate is the Messiah.

But in reality, Kate is NOTHING without her kids or husband, as she simply becomes a lame full of crap, shallow, empty person who wants to stay in front of a camera, no matter how what. She does not give a damn about anyone but herself and as NOTHING to offer other than BS. Would never ever in a million years watch such nonsense.

Buh-bye Kate, if you even get such a show. You have NOTHING of value to say or offer that I wish to listen to. You simply suck/lack as a person on too many levels.

Good luck Queen Me-Me-Me.

After reading this recap, a song comes to mind:

"Ding Dong! The Witch is gone. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is gone.
Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is gone. She's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Witch is gone!"

I earnestly pray for the sake of these children, that there are no spin-off shows of any kind with any member of this "family".

On the whole milk issue, people of Asian descent are more likely to be lactose intolerant.

So, IF the kids are lactoise intolerant, with all the intestinal issues that accompany that problem, how much would that freak Kate out? She is, after all, unwilling to admit to anything less than perfection in her life.

Do you think Kate's moaning about the cost of organic milk is just a cover for a lactose issue that some or all of the kids deal with?

In the VERY beginning, I found J&K+8 fun to watch, basically because I really enjoy kids. But it was not long before I was just unable to tolerate Kate and wondered WTH was WRONG with the woman.

So, I asked at a family gathering if anyone one had seen this show/this woman and one person defended Kate, stating that Kate was 'that way' because her husband was a child who simply added to Kate's burden of responsibility.

HUH???!!!! :-0

Then I found GWoP and realized I'm NOT the only person on the planet who finds Kate Gosselin to be an emotionally unhealthy person and an abuser.

Okay, I agree that it is impossible to know if children are malnourished just by looking at them unless it is extreme. However, many comments have been made about how little she feeds these children and Kate herself has said she doesn't buy milk unless it is on sale, which apparently does not happen in PA. There have been numerous newspaper articles recently about how many children nationwide are Vitamin D deficient. Kate also attributes most of their meltdown to "low blood sugar." A caring parent would address this, IMO.

It's weird that Katie is getting her own organic bullcrap show. It seems so backwards. Most people get their own shows because they have a talent or philosophy that people find interesting (Martha, Rachel Ray) or they have a lot of knowledge about what they're doing (cake boss, renovation shows), or they have a charming presence and can relate to people they interview (Oprah, Ellen, Kelly Ripa). Kate's knowledge of all things organic is laughable. She is not well spoken, doesn't know the meaning of some of the words she uses, and can't even read prescripted material well. She is bitch who relates to no one naturally, even her own children. And she is so unfunny I could smack her. Doesn't understand when a joke is dead. Can't figure out when others laugh just to be polite rather than actually finding her humor, well, humorous. This lack of humor is what I think will kill her tv aspirations. If you look at all of the people I've listed above, they're all witty, even if they're kinda self-righteous (oprah) or uptight (martha). Kate is so hatable, so ignorant, and so obtuse that I can't wrap my head around her getting a new show. Posters joke that she may have slept with someone at tlc, but she deserves some pencillin for that, not a tv show.

I agree, migraines in children are a lot more common than people realize. I've had migraines since I was about 4. Most of mine are allergy triggered, but changes in barometric pressure can also cause one. And a very common cause of migraines in children is low blood sugar. Which goes along with what many of us are saying about the childrens' inadequate diet. Young children can also get what are called visceral migraines - no headache, but unexplained episodes of vomiting. Sound familiar?

I've always assumed the kids' meager paper plate meals were the result of a less-than-creative Craft Services selection. Sliced fruit and cheese squares just scream "buffet" -- Kate probably just grabbed these items from the free food provided by TLC during a shoot, and tried to pass it off as something she prepared.

As for milk-gate, when was the last time any of the hounding and ever-present paps caught Kate food shopping???? I highly doubt she's the one who buys milk for the family, much less knows how much it costs. I attribute her moaning about the price of milk (organic or not) to her PR team telling her to sound like the "every mom" -- because we're all feeling this recession, right Kate?? Whenever she complains about the cost of anything, it's more BS to portray her as "one of us." Because, as we all know from hearing it ad nauseum from Kate (pun intended), she's "just a mom and a wife."

Maybe she should lay off buying the $400 butt-fugly shoes, or get her boink-friend off the payroll, if the purchase of organic milk is putting such a strain on her wallet. Remember Kate, it's all about the kids......

Okay, someone pass me a mint to mask the taste of throw-up in my mouth.

they're hungry said...

Those kids may or may not be technically malnourished, but they sure as hell are ravenous on camera an awful lot. I have never ever seen kids go ape over relatively ho-hum foods like chocolate milk, corn on the cob, and mystery slop like those Gosselin kids do. And when there's REALLY good food (like when Jon cooks or they go out to eat), you'd better be careful or you could lose a finger from those hyena-like kids ripping into their food. None of the kids look particularly robust and healthy; some look downright wan and pale (the boys). And for all her bragging about healthy eating, those kids eat loads of sugar when they do eat. Kate doesn't understand the basics about a balanced meal, plus is more concerned with convenience or freebie-ness. The kids don't seem free to eat healthy snacks between meals, which is good to a point. If the kids have melted down and are crying in hunger or drink embarrassing quantities of free milk, that point has been crossed. Add to all this the fact that Kate can make any meal unpleasant by shushing the kids and hasn't taught them the simplest of table manners. Sadly, food and feeding time at that house are negatives in those kids' lives.

***********************

Glad to see you're back, Buckeye!

I just hope TLC didn't throw away the ear-piece that Kate used during the Natalie Morales fiasco. I'm pretty certain that Kate doesn't know snot from apple sauce when it comes to "organic" -- as evidenced in her using the terms "healthy" and "organic" interchangeably. I pity the poor producer who will have to feed her information and witty, organic comebacks during her conversations with real organic experts.

It sickens me that such an abusive, ignorant, neglectful, talentless, evil, calculating and undeserving woman is being handed yet another TV show. Still, this might actually be the best thing for the kids. It goes a bit counter to what I used to think (i.e., Kate should be HOME with her kids) -- but the more I've observed Kate's "parenting" on the show, the more I think the kids will do better the LESS she is home. She clearly needs to be the center of attention and in the media spotlight. I fear that without the public licking her ego, Kate would unleash her wrath on those poor, innocent kids (can you say "wooden spoon"?).

Perhaps the G-8 will resent Kate's putting her "career" (excuse my throw-up burp) when they are grown. But I think being raised by loving nannies and Jon is actually the best thing for them.

On that note, I'm going to put my daughter and twin sons to bed -- and thank my lucky stars for the gifts that those three little angels are.

They're hungry said...

It is strange that for all the stupid errands Kate runs, you never see her run to the grocery store (or a convenience store for that matter) to get food or milk, a childhood staple for children above the poverty line. Why milk would be considered a rare treat, something that needs rationing and must be organic, is beyond me. Hey Kate, if you're dying to be seen out and about every day by the paps, why don't you splurge a little and go out and buy the appropriate amount of milk for your kids? This will entail daily or every other day trips to the store!! Yay!! You can call the paps and meet them in the parking lot as you apply your lipstick and your jowly frown for them to photograph!! ITA that Khate feeds the kids - or I suppose I should say, fed the kids - from the Craft Services table. However, she sure wasn't making much choice from the food available. I've been on a couple of TV shows - interviews for library programs, plays I've been in, etc. and my cats have done a couple of national commercials (for IAMS cat food). The Craft Services table, even for a little rinky dink local news program - was amazing. Platters of cold cuts and bread and salads and fruit, at least one and usually two hot entrees for lunch, all manner of pastries and reasonably healthy snack type foods (crackers, hummus, taboule, cut veggies). Shooting a show/commercial/interview is hard work and the lights burn off a lot of calories. Khate either has no concept of an appropriate, balanced diet for a growing child or, as many of us have been saying, she's deliberately limiting their food intake to keep them small. The "meals" I've seen them eat all seem to be heavy on the carbs and light on the protein.

Actually, there are varying degrees of lactose intolerance, and many people can eat smaller amounts of products like yogurt, hard cheese, even ice cream without issues. Drinking large amounts of milk is likely to cause issues, but many people can handle smaller (2 - 4 oz) servings of milk.

I would guess that Kate is just too self involved to try to modify her kids' consumption of milk, and just gives them free juice instead.

Or maybe Organic Valley hasn't been willing to give Kate as much lactose free organic milk as she wants, so the kids get that free juice instead!

Reading talented and witty posts from others made it easier to write and add to the discussion over time. At the rate Kate seems to be going (in terms of her impending "new show"), it seems that this blog will be able to stay intact for a while, which is good. As much as I can't stand her, I would miss all of you guys! :)

I don't think Kate feeds the children enough protein. Milk consumption isn't the only issue with this control freak. Hopefully, the children were given more than one giblet to eat on Thanksgiving.

What will become of Steve now that TLC isn't taping any longer and paying for his 'services'. One can only hope that he is back living with his wife full time instead of 'tending' to Katie Irene's needs.

Kate has so much baggage and being a lunatic in her own right, what man would really want to be with her. I'm sure she was convenient for him on the road. He's too gorgeous for her anyway. Meow.

Steve and his family needed to be at the house for Thanksgiving. Someone had to make sure Kate, the salmonella queen, didn't feed the children undercooked turkey. TLC could not risk losing the entire brand over one dinner.

Kinda interesting that Kate gets chunkier and chunkier but those kids don't. We've seen what those poor kids get to eat on their paper plate golden platters. Wonder if Kate gets to eat better, more fattening food. Also, anyone out there think Kate got lipo before the bikini gross out pictures? Seems like she's been slowly putting on weight since then. Same with after her tummy tuck, which included lipo. She looked slim immediately after surgery and gradually gained weight afterwards. Just bring snarky...

Kate says she doesn't want her kids remembering her tearing their father down.

Too late.

Trust me. They are going to one day realize that Kate spent her time blasting their father, while Jon had one or two harsh words to say in public and then moved on.
These kids will realize, when they see their mother through adult eyes, that she spent all that time disparaging their father in hopes of blinding them to her own indiscretions and many horrible actions.
As hard as they try not to, those children will hate her just a little bit for humiliating them to the world by being cruel to their dad.
I hope the judge considers Parental Alienation when dealing with this divorce.

They eat yogurt and cheese, not to mention ice cream. There's no lactose problem with any of them.

****

Actually, there are varying degrees of lactose intolerance, and many people can eat smaller amounts of products like yogurt, hard cheese, even ice cream without issues. Drinking large amounts of milk is likely to cause issues, but many people can handle smaller (2 - 4 oz) servings of milk.

******

I'm remembering back to the dinner they had with the chicken cacciatore. For dessert, each child was given a huge bowl of ice cream to eat. It was not a small amount. And once in a blue moon they get just ice cream for dinner.
And, they drank 3 cups of milk in one sitting at the dairy farm. I will grant you that they looked more like half cups of milk, but still, probably 12-14 oz. total.

There IS a difference between joking about hell and telling someone to go there.

Personally, I believe Kate has metaphorically sold her soul to the devil in order to keep fame and fortune in those big huge purses she likes to tote around.

If selling your children's privacy and childhood doesn't buy you a ticket to hell, I can't imagine what would.

But to be totally honest with you, it's all just a metaphor to me, since I am not a believer in the devil nor hell.

Laura, cracks about Kate's weight and heft are irresistable because they are the only form of criticism that get to her. And lastly, she puts herself out there, dressing inappropriately and provocatively. It looks tacky and is embarrassing to her kids , no doubt. What are we supposed to say? She looks great? Her weight is perfect? Maybe it's immature, but making fun of her weight is sure cathartic

Just found this:

***********************************

I'm not sure that Kate could "sell" anything of an organic/natural sort. After all, isn't she the one who dumped Hershey's chocolate syrup in the kids organic milk? Product placement for Hershey's or is Hershey's suddenly organic?

There are whole parts of this country where she'd have no credibility with this.

I think TLC is going to get a rude awakening. Too much has happened; Jon and Kate are a joke on too many other TV "talkie" shows, in web comments, etc. Kate alone is no draw for most viewers. She's not an authority on anything of interest. Paula Deen owns restaurants and is a businesswoman. Guy Fieri has credentials in the cooking/chef world. Kate is nobody special, even when she had kids as props and a husband for a verbal punching bag.

"ITA that Khate feeds the kids - or I suppose I should say, fed the kids - from the Craft Services table. However, she sure wasn't making much choice from the food available. I've been on a couple of TV shows - interviews for library programs, plays I've been in, etc. and my cats have done a couple of national commercials (for IAMS cat food). The Craft Services table, even for a little rinky dink local news program - was amazing." (From Reader Lady)
--------------------------------
ITA, too. I worked at an affiliate TV station for a major network and the food spreads were always sumptuous for production/interview guests, public information officers' soirees, employee events, location/"live" venues, etc. Big budget and no expense spared for both workers and invitees; it was 'way pre-recession but I can't believe it's changed all that much.

Also, filming is done by movie/television studios fairly frequently in my SoCal city; I've seen the food put out under big tents for crew and cast (should I say, I drooled having seen what scrumptious food was displayed and wished I'd hired out as an EXTRA!). Those kiddie plates coulda been heaped up by Kate with all kinds/variety of great eats, IMO.

I wondered if Kate was trying to give them foods that wouldn't mess up their clothes too much, knowing how nuts she'd get over food spills. Supposed to have been a reality show but probably trying to keep clothes clean for filming although she admitted once she didn't want to be having to slave over the laundry taking stains out of six or eight outfits. Of course, those were the days when I was also convinced she really did household chores herself.

But, I'm thinking, this is all old news now, folks. We probably need to move on. Let's hope the kids tank up when they're with Jon. I'm not advocating obesity in children but a Kids Meal from fast food heaven is not gonna kill them once in awhile. We'd go to McD's once a week when I was a kid...drove to another town where there was a drive-thru...and those are happy memories for me...young family, not much money, enjoying a small Sunday drive together and then having a picnic with a meal prep break for Mom. We had fun. Kids need some fun. Sometimes it revolves around food. Not all the time, but sometimes. Didn't hurt us one bit!

It is Kate's manner of dress that invites so much ridicule from the public. If you are putting yourself out there to be scrutinized by the tabloids and dress suggestively, you had better have the body to back it up. Think Jennifer Aniston. Gorgeous girl, gorgeous body, dresses provocatively, everyone thinks she looks great. But I don't envy her or other celebs because the minute they put on a little weight or their cellulite is photographed, they get attacked. Kate has worked hard with what God and the plastic surgeons have given her. And as much as it pains me to say this, she is not fat and her body is fine....IF she would only dress appropriately. Her clothes are too small for her, and body parts are always threatening to show themselves. People wouldn't rip her apart so much if she dressed for her body type...you know, linebacker chic (sorry). She could even wear expensive designer labels without much criticism if she would just be covered up and not whine about having no money to feed the kids. Kate is so simpleminded that she believes dressing in so obvious a manner is attractive. So, yes, the snarking is immature and maybe not so nice, but she has the power to make it stop

BTW, I do enjoy Guy Fieri and his show, DDD, on the Food Network. I remember watching when he was a contestant on Next Food Network Star and realizing he was the winner from early on. His personality and TV charisma just shined. I'm from his adopted home town and have eaten at his restaurant. I know people whose children go to the same school as Fieri's and they all say he's just like he appears on TV - a little loud and over the top, but also a hell of a lot of fun to be with.

Kate has nothing of these attributes. She cannot relate easily to other people and in fact, prefers to have a barrier between her and others. How is she going to do a show where she talks to chefs and patrons, with her body guard barrier at her side?

People respond to Guy - he jokes with them, cajoles them, laughs at himself, makes people smile. All I can think of is Kate screeching "come and git yer popcorn" over and over again.

If TLC thinks they can make a show with Kate visiting organic restaurants around the country and pleasantly talking to chefs and patrons alike, I shake my head at their delusion, but hope they sink a whole lot of money into it!

Those kids may or may not be technically malnourished, but they sure as hell are ravenous on camera an awful lot. I have never ever seen kids go ape over relatively ho-hum foods like chocolate milk, corn on the cob, and mystery slop like those Gosselin kids do.

*****************

First off -- "mystery slop" -- LMAO. On a more serious note ... I completely agree. Watching the Gosselin kids eat reminds me of a photo shoot I once saw for a dog food commercial. They basically kept the dog starved/hungry up til they were about to film, so that the dog would seem to really enjoy/be into the food that they were hocking. In reality, the dog could care less about the brand, all s/he knew was that s/he was HUNGRY.

When watching the G-8 eat, I have always thought back to that dog food commercial. I have no proof to back this up, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kate kept the kids hungry in order for them to appear to enjoy her [pathetic] meals.

On a side note: A good deal of my grad school research was on eating disorders as related to mother/daughter relations. From what I've seen on the show, I sincerely fear for these kids and their future relationship with food.

Kate is a wanna-be, she wants to be a perfect mother/person and famous. Even if it means stepping on everyone including children, husband, family and friends. She has this need to prove herself. She does need therapy. I personally think she is one of the most stupid persons on the planet. Kate you had a good husband, tell me people how many husbands would put up with your crap, take care of kids like he did/does, be there when your off book touring etc, build things, fix things, and cope with 8 kids, not to mention cooking, and doing cleaning stuff. How many out there can get your husband to do some of this stuff? If you have a husband that does you are one lucky woman, take care of him, don't lose him. I do know that a lot of guys don't know how or don't have the skill to do things, that does not make them a bad husband. But Kate! what is wrong with you you had a good man, and you threw him out with the bath water. Does she think she will find another like him?LOLOLOL You have 8 healthy beautiful children. The only sick one is you. Jon's wildness came from being bottled up by Kate, maybe if Kate got the stick out of her but, and treated Jon like a partner/team mate/adult, they would still be married, and as much as I don't like saying this be still on TV with possible once/twice a year shows, instead of 24/7. But Kate is Kate and if she gets a show about organic stuff I most likely will not watch cause she knows nothing about the subject. As for organic stuff, Dr Oz said milk is the only thing he thinks you should buy organic. Organic is expensive. That is why I don't buy organic even milk.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Ramsey & Bourdain in the same room, it could be incredibly captivating or they could be at fierce odds. People can say whatever they like about these men, love them or hate them they got there with their own TALENT, by their own very hard work. Neither had it easy.

Throw kate in with these two & it would be a shark feeding frenzy, shredding the talentless pretender. I've heard Ramsey speak before about his children & how important it is to him that they have a childhood that is as normal as he can possibly make it, so I really doubt kate would be there long before he got irritated with her. I can't see Anthony okaying her behaviour either, kate strike's me as the kind of stuff Mr. Bourdain scrapes off the bottom of his boots.

I would watch to see kate shredded by them, that would be must see TV. Neither of them put up with much nonsense & well, that's all kate is, is nonsense. She'd never know what hit her & probably wouldn't understand much of what they said.

Perhaps Kate should spend more time talking instead of Drama queening and yelling at her kids. Jon from what we've seen does talk to them. All I saw on JK8 was the kids all 8 always yelling or talking loud and it was hard to understand them. They put up captioning. That is not good. What do you all think?
