Kate and K Mart

Kate keeps bringing up K Mart and saving money. Is her info helpful? The good news is that it's just Kate and not the kids.

What are these things called "sales" that she was going on and on about? I never heard of such a thing. Gosh, I'm glad Kate Gosselin is there to clue me in to all these new and wondrous money saving tips! Me, I usually look for the most expensive thing because cheaper is NOT better, right?

And making lists and doing things the day BEFORE to stay organized? Why has no one ever written an article about this before or opened a store called, oh, say, The Container Store or Bed, Bath & Beyond or Wal-Mart in which I may purchase different sized plastic receptacles with which to organize various items into?

I've been going to the grocery store and just throwing things willy nilly into the cart. If only I had known of this list making phenomenon, I could get things I actually need. WOW.

I saw part of an interview done by satellite, she was sitting in a chair and had toys and stuff all around her and a Christmas tree in the background (it is October!). She says "um" about 100 times (twit). She is enlightening consumers as to the benefits of layaway at Kmart, as if she invented it. She comments that is such a better alternative than incurring "credit card debt which we have all have done"...yes Kate, we 'believe' that you need to buy your kids gifts on layaway! #1. Miss Kate, you aren't paying for any of your kids stuff, gifts included! and #2.You are in no way someone that any of the rest of us can relate to! #3. You have not paid for one thing since you started pimping out your children...but don't worry, you will in the future. Do you really think that God will reward you for what you have done to the blessings that he has given you?

I couldn't get through even 10 seconds of this interview before turning it off. Even if I didn't know all the truths behind Katie Irene, I would still think she sounded like a moron, and that KMart is even more moronic for selecting her as a spokesperson.

Look for sales, plan ahead, blah, blah, blah. Did we really need this COMMON SENSE tutorial from Kate?

This is EXACTLY the same garbage she tried to do for a recipe article in a St Louis publication. The editor, Judith Evans, was raked over the coals for calling Kate an "expert".

I cannot even imagine how much Kate had to swallow her substantially sized pride and ego in order to become a K-Mart spokesperson and to especially talk about lay-a-way. I doubt if Kate even knows how to spell K-Mart or Lay-A-Way.

I haven't been keeping up, so I apologize for asking this question.

Exactly where and when did this 'interview' appear?

You know, if Kate was going to use tired old "strategies" for saving money, she could have just as easily stole some really good ideas by spending some time on line. She seems to think that these companies want her because she's her and not because they hope that she'll actually have some relevant information to share. That is the epitome of self centeredness. She simply isn't likable enough to get by on likableness alone. She'd better come up with some substance and quick.

Katie, you're not good enough, you're not smart enough and, darn it, people don't like you.

I myself find it laughable that Kate is giving anyone advice on budgeting and saving money, etc. How insulting to those of us who actually HAVE to do it. Does anyone really believe she's doing a lay-away at KMart? The only thing she might be doing is storing her freebies there until Christmas!!

Funny post. Kate is convinced she invented everything but dirt.

Who are these interviews and "tips" aimed at because it certainly isn't me or any other mom I know. Most of us have a working brain and a working knowledge of things like how to make a sandwich. Seriously, I'm asking the question, is there anyone out there who didn't know what she is telling us?

Oh, I think the woman who does Sarah Palin so well on SNL could really do a good Kate G. Let's all write to the show and suggest it.

Lonnyswife said...

So, KG invented layaway?
And coupon clipping?
And sandwiches??
Isn't there a Nobel prize for economics?
We could nominate her I suppose but then I don't recall a recipient ever using "UM" in a sentence.

I think Kristen Wiig or Amy Poehler on SNL would play Kate so well! They could have her yelling and snapping at the Jon character and make it really good!

Does anybody really believe she shops at Kmart? Maybe if the toys were free.

I see...Kate is a spokesperson for Kmart wearing Ann Taylor Loft?! Where are her "Jacqueline Smith" duds? I really think they should give her some "Joe Boxer" underwear!I bet Kate thinks SHE invented the "blue light special"!

_____
Next she will be demanding a new sponsorship and trying to get people to send her royalties for using the word 'um'..since it is HER trademark and all @@

To Anon at 11:05, I think it would be a mistake to suggest to SNL that they should do a skit on Katie Irene. Yes, it would probably be hilarious, but do we really want to get this KON artist more publicity?

I think in her little pea brain she agreed to shill for Kmart because other celebrity women did. Martha Stewart, Jaclyn Smith, Kathy Ireland. Apparently she sees herself on the same level with these people.

Hollie23 said...

Let me just start by saying I don't believe that woman is a Kmart kind of girl. She looked like someone was holding a gun to her head and forcing her to do the promo. She really looks stressed out, I just find it funny that they they still think living their lives publicly is having no ill effect on them or the kids. Kate is the kind who doesn't do anything she doesn't want to do, Kmart probably gave them free crap for the new house and now they have to repay the favor and she could care less. The whole thing was a train wreck, she didn't help Kmart out in anyway that's for sure.

how much do you want to bet that in not too long we will see the "Kate Gosselin Collection" of kids clothes at kmart??

JuliaS said...

Anon 12:18

She would actually be expected to put the Kmart clothing ON HER kids.

mollybloom said...

I suspect Kate grew up a K-Mart and Wal-Mart girl. She's so over that now. She's shilling for the money, and she's lying to get it. Diva Kate is not about to show up for a serious day of layaway at her local Mart. Oh, please.

Anonymous said...

She looked SO depressed. Could the woman even fake a smile? If I were the execs at K-Mart, I would be so mad that our "spokesperson" looked liked that. UMM, how much do you think she got paid to sit there and look pissed off for 4 1/2 minutes?

Anonymous said...

LOL Kate is about as cheap as Kmart! But even Kmart has more class than this attention whore!

Tragedy said...

There is no WAY Kate would dress her kids in anything from Kmart--- unless it was free.... but even then I think she would shun it! I think she's getting paid in cash and small appliances!

Momof5,

EXACTLY!

We used to have a phrase for gals like Kate-
Nordstrom's shopper wife

Only in her case she gets to spend someone else's money!

The K Marts in my area are really hurting and I only go in there when I don't want to fight the crowds at Target. If they think Kate is going to save their Christmas season they better think again.

I wouldn't be surprised as another poster stated that she will have some line of kids something at K Mart. This has to be a "feeler" of sorts for both K Mart and Kate!

I would love to see SNL do Kate and Jon as well. They did Suze Orman and it was great. Suze even commented on her own show how "on" it was. I am sure Kate would be insulted which would make it even better!

Thank you so much for posting this so I could see/hear it for myself.

I don't have anything to add to the other comments except why does Kate always seem so pissed off? Was it because she was still tired, not having been able to sleep till 11, and hadn't had enough coffee?

Oh my gosh, I just watched the video of Kate and Kmart. She looks totally fed up, bored and expressionless all at the same time. Would it kill her to smile or at least act a little enthused and upbeat? How many times did she say "umm"? Good grief. And then she talks about how important it is to give back. Does her family give back? I sure haven't heard about anything like that. Her kids are all old enough now that they could take their used toys to a charity or help out in some little way at a food pantry, etc. Why not make an episode about this instead of everyone getting an all expense paid trip to Hawaii, Disney World, or Utah? And to be totally shallow, what is up with her hair??? Eventually the front of her hair will be down to her shoulders and the back will still be like a scrub brush.

I was just listening to a podcast from a radio station that interviewed Kate, I suppose to plug the K-Mart gig. Anyway (besides her being completely dullll when she's not scripted), it iritated me that she said "It's important for one of us to be home with the kids at all times". Wha wha what?! They make half their living off of leaving their kids to galavant around the country collecting money from church-goers!

Is their some third parent that I'm not aware of? I guess my husband said it best- there's no way the second set of kids could be Jon's, because who would be stupid enough to have sex with that crazy woman twice!

funkycatt said...

You are freaking hilarious! Great post! I love how Kate thinks she's the first mom to have a bazillion kids and have to be organized and save money to take care of them.

Anonymous said...

What a slap in the face to all moms (and Dads) everywhere in this country who DO have to use layaway and actually budget!
Times are tough and we have this overdressed, expressionless, inarticulate slug con artist telling US how to shop and cut coupons?
Unbelievable all the way around.
I don't shop Kmart anyway; my kids are too old for toys.

I highly doubt that Kate is writing her own commercials for K-mart or any other sponsor. And trust me, these campaigns ARE a form of commercials. The companies want her because they think she will help sell their product. That's it.

If this is a way for the family to make money without involving the kids and companies want to hire them, why not? Maybe it can supplant the reality show earnings and begin to give the kids more privacy.

Seems like a win-win.

I agree. Why not? Except that without the kids, J&K don't have appeal on their own. Without appeal, you need substance, without substance and appeal, you have nothing.

If Kate wants to sell her "tips" on saving money, she'd better have some good ones or she's not credible. It doesn't matter if they come from her marketing team or not. When she's interviewed live using the same old tired hints our mothers used, she loses credibility.

Just as, if she's going to write a cookbook, she'd better know how to produce something more than PB and Banana sandwiches, or she loses credibility. People who promote these sorts of things have to do media tours so if they can't present themselves well, then they fade away fast.

Another sad aspect about the Gosselins is that, since the tups were born, Kate and Jon could have really done their homework and learned some valuable information to share with others, but that takes a boatload of work and effort, and neither J or K are willing to put forth that sort of commitment. They relied on everyone around them to do the hard stuff.

Kate writing a cookbook, now that's a laugh!

Pages of how to throw ORGANIC grapes and ORGANIC chips onto a plate? How to scream at your husband about cutting the ORGANIC pancakes just right? Explanation about why your 5 year olds need to wear bibs? A lesson on how to buy half of an ORGANIC cow? And don't forget the chapter on how no to make a mess when making ORGANIC monkey munch!

Wow, I hope that never happens. Now I have more reasons not to shop at Kmart.

Wooowwww. That burns me up to hear her talking about this economy, credit card debt, struggling to provide for her 8 kids... that interview definitely didn't take place at their house, there were too many books in the background! Not only are they too "busy" and "stressed" letting other people take care of their children and other mundane household tasks, but I get the feeling...they're not very bright.
