Anyone else see the preview for next week's episode? Looks like they really are moving.

Oh boy, next week is another viewer questions episode. Should be interesting...they just digging themselves a bigger and bigger hole. I can't imagine they will be able to keep all the lies and "untruths" straight in this episode.

Speaking of the new house... I just saw a post on ABC's site for the Extreme Home Makeover show. Someone thinks that the Gosselins need ABC to give them a bigger house. I could not believe it.

"I think that john and kate deserve a bigger house because they are a truly loving family and there is not enough room in thier house to hold all that love. They are the cutest family on reality t.v.and E.H.M. is the PERFECT show to resolve the space issues. I can go on and on about the reasons for my thoughts but im sure there are others who can tell us some."

I'm done watching this show. Don't want anything more to do with it, done with this blog, finito. The way I see it, things won't change unless the parents change it. So good luck to the Gosselins, I simply don't care anymore. There are more important things to concern myself with than what happens to these children.

I want to thank the GWOP blog owners for their efforts in educating the public. I've enjoyed it while it lasted but I've come to the conclusion that by not watching the show and giving up this and all other Gosselin blog sites was the best way I could really say I don't care anymore. I wish you all the best.

Anonymous said...

I'm seconding the not watching sentiment. I just don't care anymore. Nothing the Gosselin's seem to be doing is actionable enough to help the kids and if the parents don't lose the show, they won't change a thing. The show is a cash cow and with all of us watching still, it is counter productive. Best of luck.

This is the first time I have seen this episode but I want to hear from "the girlfriend who was gone the next day" - hahahaha!

Anonymous said...

I understand why people are upset about watching the show. I was watching myself, and decided that although I'm interested to see what will happen to the children and if the show will be cancelled, I will no longer watch. But, I will read here and other blogs. I don't think that is perpetuating anything. I just want to know, but I can't watch anymore. I'm not a Neilsen viewer so it won't matter, but I know it's wrong and I can't do it.

Anonymous said...

I have not watched the show the past three weeks and do not feel I have missed anything. I can't say I will never watch again, but I hear all I need to know about the show following the blogs and boards. We just received a packet to be a Nielsen family and I definitely would not want to do anything that would contribute to the exploitation by tuning in.

sabrinasmom said...

I think with all the editing - you still cannot hide the truth. Not the "literal" truth - but Jon and Kate's real identity, how they really are - versus how they choose to portray themselves.

I felt bad for them when they were discussing their parents.

IMO opinion, the explanation of why their parents are not involved is lame - especially Jon's.

It is also said that they justify their absence by saying "we are self sufficient, we are not dependent."

As if parents, grandparents only role is subsidize. I can only speak for myself, but my daughter is the light of my parent's and my husband's parent's lives. Their lives don't revolve around her - but it has nothing to do with whether or not my husband and I are "dependent" on them. JMO.

I didn't watch tonight either. The cute is fading fast.

Started blogging about kids and people who NEED exposure. Hey TLC/DCS How about a missing kids channel?

Anonymous said...

I DO NOT go to their site anymore, because I don't want to add to the amount of "hits" that they get. They will only pat themselves on the back, saying "Look at how many people are interested in us!"

It would be very interesting to hear her side of the story. I wonder what Kate DID that was so impressive that the person Jon was seeing was out and replaced by Kate the next day. Maybe Kate really is an 'expert' at something!

OK, last night they said next weeks show is new and all about viewer questions. They talked about moving to a bigger house. Wonder what kind of spin they will put on Aunt Jodie and Beth?
Better put those boots on before watching this one...

I'll bet she is now glad she was gone the next day. I doubt if many women would put up with the ball-less wonderboy Jon.

Anonymous said...

I did not watch last night. And I will never watch ever again. It's just so sickening and disturbing. Just when we think KON cannot sink any lower, they invariably do. I will continue to read GWoP and advocate for the kids, but I cannot even look at Jon and Kate - they are so despicable and repugnant on so many levels.

Anonymous said...

I didn't watch it either although I have seen the wedding and honeymoon videos before. I remember that Katie Irene looked good and she talked in sort of this baby girl talk, which is very strange given her regular speech pattern today. Don't know anybody who changed that much in 10 years. You wouldn't even know it was the same person. Do you think she was pretending to be all sweetness and light back then because if not I'd say they need a priest over there to try to exorcise whatever demon is possessing her now.

Anonymous said...

Why not give the yard sale money to the NICU at the hospital where the babys were born. I am sure they wrote off part of the hospital bill when the babies were patients there. Also, if babies are under a certain birth weight March of Dimes automatically helps with the bill regardless of income. That would have been a good charity. Give back to someone that helped you.

I am sorry, but I don't know where to ask this question. Last night on the repeat of the repeat on the trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo, while they were viewing the gorillas; Kate made a silly comment about a display of "Gosselin's". She then went on to say something like if they did that they would need to be well-compensated. Does anyone with DVR of Tivo have this episode taped, and if so; what does Kate say?

I know that she was joking about being on display, but the comment stating that IF they were, they would have to be well-compensated tells us what is always at the top of her thoughts...how much will we be paid? Makes you wonder: if someone actually offered a huge amount of money for them to sit in a glass display would they do it?

Oh, the irony....they are already on display behind glass (or plasma) and already being well-compansated.

After watching last night, can anyone tell me when Kate died and the pod person took over?

Hearing her laugh, cry and be giddy (if still controlling) either says the kids have taken a toll on her spirit or the witch was always there and just needed eight kids to push it out.

And don't forget the episode that gets to the core of everything - entitled "Whatever!!!"

Jenn: But if they didn't announce it, how would we know that they are "giving back"? IMO, if they didn't publicize it, they get criticized for not giving back. They announce they are giving back and now they are trying to prove something. I don't think we can have it both ways.

How would we know that they are "giving back"? The same way we found out they weren't giving back. When the sextuplets were babies, Jon made an announcement that they would donate the things that were given to them. People from their town ended up finding the donated items in consignment shops, they were selling things on their website and yard sales. It has nothing to do with what is shown on TV. If they were giving back all along, doing what Jon said they would do, they wouldn't have the need to publicize it or prove anything. It wouldn't even be an issue.

Of course, many are going to be skeptical. It appears these changes are taking place in response to the pressure that is being put on them from the public. It is going to be hard for them to change their image.

IMO, if it were really being done with a giving spirit, there would be no need to make it an episode or announce the amount on their website. Why not donate the clothes/toys and write a check (with their own money) privately to their favorite charity? I don't see how the yard sale was "giving" at all. They didn't even pay for the things they were selling.

anonymous: OK, let me get this straight. They sold items that were given to them, items they did not buy. The money from the yard sale goes to charity. Not one penny of that money was from Kon. It's really easy to donate other peoples money, and claim the donation as their own.
Since it was filmed for a future show, they earn their $65Gs for the day.
These people give new meaning to scam artists.

I completely agree!!

Now if they had announced that they were donating their own money from the filming of the episode, I might be more apt to believe they truly wanted to "give back".

Anonymous said...

These people make me sick. Greedy, selfish people. Used to like the show, but no more. The kids are cute, but so are millions of other kids. Nothing special about the gosselins.
I blame the sponsors, TLC, figure 8 for still throwing tons of money on these freeloaders. Surely they can find a family who would be GRATEFULL for the help.
Jon and kate.. You are truly disgusting people. I feel sorry for your 8 kids.

Anonymous said...

I did see part of the show that preceeds the Kon show. I think they have 17 kids, obviously some older than others, and they seem like normal kids and normal young adults. Haven't seen that one before. The kids aren't dressed in matching outfits and they aren't wearing old fashioned prarie clothes either. Just normal kids. The girls were all in the kitchen whipping up a huge meal for a catering they were doing, I think. Again, it seemed normal to me. It was soooooo not-Kon plus eight that I didn't even gag.

sabrinasmom said...

How much of zero can you write off? You can take my comment with a grain of salt, but I have read archived articles that Kate's whole enchilada regarding the tups did not cost her or Jon one red cent.

I think the witch was always there. I think she may just have been "nice" until she caught a man who was gullible enough to marry her and father her children.

jenn said...But if they didn't announce it, how would we know that they are "giving back"?...They announce they are giving back and now they are trying to prove something.I don't think we can have it both ways.

The only thing those people have proved is that they are deceptive con-artists who willingly sold out their kids so they wouldn't have to go to work to earn a living. I think the dictionary definition of that is leech. If they are so charitable, why don't they shut down the whole circus and give their kids a happy, normal home life. That would be the most genuine and generous act of all.

Anonymous said...

They are doing more than just announcing it. The yard sale has been mentioned under Gosselin Family Sightings by people that were there. Of course they are not going to donate without people knowing about it because people are saying that there were cameras. Also Kate behaved very differently than she usually does around fan.

Anonymous said...

It does look as though next week's new ep will be a complete and total damage control. Is it me or do the producers (and maybe KON too) thik the general public is that stupid? It so obvious that they are addressing all the public knowledge of their misdeeds that they are devoting a entire episode to addressing those issues. No amount of damage control is going to change the damage done to their reputations and image. It's time to call it a wrap folks. But sadly, J&K won't do that. They'll milk this for all it's worth then live in their McMansion in SC off the ill gotten gains from their children.

And I agree with several posts that the whole "We gave to charity" announcement was lame. Just like when they visited the Ronald McDonald House and Kate gave them a check on camera. Being subtle is not the producers or the KONs MO.

If this couple was going to donate money the should of matched the money that they raised from the sell. That is what celebrities with money usually do. If they are doing some type of fundraising event. They will match the amount of money earned with their own money.
This couple is greedy and it is sad to see when so many people are struggling with this economy. But yet they continue to yuck it up on every episode and rub it into viewers faces that they pay for nothing. TLC this is not the type of show you want to have on the air it is very insensitive to the viewers struggling with day to day living.

Anonymous said...

Quote: "They are doing more than just announcing it."

They did much more than announce it. #1 Just days after the sale, J & K brought specific notice on their approved website of the yard sale and the $$ amount of proceeds they made that were donated to their 'favorite charity'. #2 A camera and production crew were present and filming at the yard sale, a sure indication that the events will be featured in an upcoming episode of J & K + 8. J & K and their PR team made damn sure that their efforts were IMMEDIATELY recoginized and not without notice in the present and the yet to come!

My husband had an interesting comment. He rarely watches the show, just what he sees passing through the room. Last night, I told him some of the things that are being commented on this website. His comment? "I never see these kids on the show. All I ever see are the parents on the couch in a huge main part of the screen. I don't really think people watch to see the kids--you rarely do. People watch to relate to the parents."

Just thought his take on it, from another perspective, was interesting.

I love the way kate tries to justify J&K's behavior. In this episode they were discussing if they think it is proper to fight the way they do in front of thier kids. Kate responds that they are always in front of thier kids and says that they always explain to them that mommy and daddys fight, its ok and that they do love each other. HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN THIS HAPPEN? i never have. They just fight all they time with NO regard for the kids around them. Dont they understand that kids feel the fighting and the tension no matter what? guess not!

also, in the beginning they were showing their wedding. IMO, little did jon know that kates actual vows should have been I will belittle you, embrass you, and take total control over you. HaHA

This is all such bullcrap. They write a check to the ronald mcdonald house, but don't bother to show the amount. It could have been for 50 bucks. My brother was in the NICU 26 years ago and my mom STILL does the March of Dimes charity.

They sell things that were given to them and then proclaim they are "giving back". They are horrible awful people. I took them off my DVR. I will watch the Duggars, I really dont think they will be at the level of exploiting you see here. The Duggars actually have things to film, besides Kate sitting in the white chair while the "family helper" chases the kids and some old lady down the street folds her clothes.

Just go away.

While I obviously can't speak for Jon, I find myself giving the same explanation for my in-laws' lack of contact with my kids. My in-laws live 10 miles away and we never see them. They both work, are very busy and simply don't care much.

It is very awkward to explain to people why we never see them (or why they never babysit or show up for cookouts or birthday parties ect...). So, I just say they are really busy--kind of lame but also very sad........

Interesting though that time is found for the other grandchildren. 4tolove, I'm sorry that your in-laws are so uncaring. Hopefully they'll wake up one of these days. Although my MIL didn't until she was dying.

And IMHO Kate probably chased Jon's mother off with the broom she rides on.

Another interesting glance into the lost caverns of Kate's head was when she interrupted Jon when he said he was dating when they met. She said "She was GONE the next day". It's like anyone who stands in her way is immediately erased. She's scary.

Since J & K are on making strides to convince the public that they are in fact doing charitable deeds and are 'giving back,' does that mean they will no longer represent themselves to that same public as a family worthy of charity? Will they announce publicly that they will no longer be accepting of all expense paid invitations to vacation resorts, donations of free clothing and other goods, 'love offerings' to support their present and future financial needs?

In regards to the whole medical coverage issue:while I have not researched or read any archives regarding how the births & subsequent hospital stays for this family were covered, as someone whose job is to daily evaluate people for medicaid eligibility I can speak with confidence that if kate & her children were receiving medicaid in the state of pa, they would have no bills at all for the newborns and kate's entire pregnancy would be covered. if pa medicaid is the same as wv medicaid, then kate would have been entitled to 60 days post-partum coverage as well. i

To the poster further up, I don't feel they needed or really even should have shown the amount for the check, it's really nobody else's business. That was the Sentman family on Kids by the Dozen before J&K last night. They are a breath of fresh air after the greedy Gosselins and the uber-religious Duggars and other KBTD families.

There is another episode where they are getting the house ready for a 4th of July party and one of the sons barely finishes installing the toilet and sink just before the guests arrive. The walls are sheetrocked and spackled, but not painted and the mom was just over the moon that he accomplished that much! She told him he did a good job and got the girls in there to make it look as pretty as possible. I don't know why, but I just loved that scene, probably because you know it would have been totally different at the Gosselin house....professional remodeling team, strict deadline, constant nagging, etc, etc, etc!!

Did anyone notice the dates of the old footage. The one where Jon & Kate were at dinner and Jon said that she is his 'beautiful fiance'- it was dated Nov 1998 (or whatever year they were engaged). The next video was Christmas where they open presents, and that is when she got the ring and he proposed??- this video was dated 1 month later. Just thought it was interesting and not saying you need to have a ring to be engaged, I just was curious if anyone picked up on it.

Here is a article link from Woman's Day Magazine. The article came out yesterday. Kate is again telling more lies about her making 99% of her families meals from scratch no less. What I dont get is her constant excuse for filming is making memories for the children. Memories also come from one's own brain, we have special areas of our brains that are responsible for creating memories, Kate Gosselin. They do not all have to be documented by a camera. I think your children have enough memories documented more than the average person. Note to Kate not all memories are made to be remembered forever. Enough said. I just wanted to shed some light on the new house that is supposedly 8000 sq ft.- Just for the sake of comparison, the Duggars HUGE home for *19* people happens to be 7000 sq. ft. I think Mrs. Kate happens to be quite the ' drama queen' when she talks about not having enough space. I guess when your using someone elses dime it is real easy to get carried away!

Just a thought: now that actual television shows are returning to the air on a regular basis, will the ratings of J&K be affected? I've seen in the comments above that people were watching the premires of other shows instead. When I thought about it, I realized that I had been watching this show instead of Heroes. There's probably a lot of people who - thanks to the Writers Strike and it's muddling of the schedule - were tuning in just to see something new. Kind of like how the old school 90210 aired new episodes during the summer to gain veiwers who had nothing but repeats to watch.

Under Family Sightings a poster who says they were there says that it was held at a local church and not the church that the family attends. It is a very good post and worth a look. Kate's makeup was spackled on for the cameras. Lots of GAP and Gymboree was sold, and also the infamous potties. They were selling pictures of kids saying the proceeds went to the charity. The kids looked very unhappy on a hot day.

_____

Yep, she said they are not dependent on their parents. However, we know they are dependent on the charity and freebies they are given. She has also said she cut off her parents because they don't know how to help KON. Translation: They didn't give them enough free stuff and do everything under the sun for them so they are not worth their time. Blecch! What losers. I have written to them through their email link on their site about how sad it is for the kids to be isolated from everyone because of the parents' inability to sustain relationships. I'll bet they use those emails for damage control episodes--to see what people are thinking about..

I just read the Woman's Day article, which was similar to the St. Louis article, in which Kate gives tips on how to feed your family healthy meals. I graduated from college with a degree in journalism, and worked in magazine publishing until my kids were born. I have to ask, what happened to journalism integrity and fact checking? Obviously, these reporters are not doing their job by doing simple research before they put pen to paper. A little homework by both of them would have revealed an uglier side to the story, one that deserves far more investigation. Perhaps these reporters only write fluff pieces, but surely the editors of these publications could see the need for deeper investigation. I'm disappointed in Woman's Day. For a magazine that features articles on the well being of the family, especially thanks to mothers, they seem to be missing the big picture here, and not covering what should be an important feature. I'll pass over this magazine in the checkout line from now on.

Well, we don't call them the KONS for nothing.

They received thousands and thousands of dollars in cash, services and freebies.

I am skeptical whether they have paid income tax on these donations (of course I don't know for sure whether they paid tax or not but I witnessed a cash basket love offering). Lots of cash has been floating in their orbit.

Now as part of a damage control plan, they announce they have donated the cash proceeds from selling these freebies.

What do you want to bet they take an income tax deduction for this
so called charitable contribution?

People laughed years ago when Hillary Clinton took a tax deduction for Bill's old underwear. Will the Gosselins take a tax deduction on the donated potties?

Someone is deleting the comments that they don't like on Woman's day. I believe we should start our own seperate post before they get all deleted. Here is mine:

Organic Boxed Mac and Cheese and Monkey Munch

All I have ever seen Kate prepare is boxed organic (aunt annie's mac and cheese) and monkey munch! Oh I'm sorry, let's not forget pancakes covered in Mrs. Butterworth's syrup, sticky buns, and peanut butter fluff with "organic" fluff. I agree organic is the better option, however sugar and fats are still the same, it's still healthier junk! I have also noticed how she feeds her kids "all natural" (Snyder's and Frito Lay) potato chips and cheese doodles, this still junk too.

This woman just got money to be the spokeswoman for the grains foundation, the stuff she's spouting of now is to keep her contract.

Oh and don't get me started on her "spaghetti sauce", first of all no offense because I'm not italian either but... who taught Kate how to make it? It sure wasn't her mother, family, or friend because she's in a fight with everybody. Since when is Krieder an italian last name? We have never ever seen her cook it. I would have much more respect for her if she just admitted 365 Whole Foods brand tomato sauce and added her own spices. Watch next episode she'll appear with her yummy authentic spaghetti sauce.

Poor Jon cooked only once, but just remembered as the guy who messed up her kitchen.

Naturally, we attracted a ton of attention with the little ones in their Choo-choo wagon, band of older kids, and all our STUFF. We joked about being "the triplet exhibit" and tossed around ideas for charging admission so that we would have college funds for the kids. All this was years ago (my babies turn 7 tomorrow!) so I think Kate must have stolen the idea from me! Anyway, thanks for the chuckle. Even though my scene wasn't taped, I remember it like it was yesterday. :)

If they didn't want us aware of their donation to the Ronald mcdonald house, why show it at all?

If you are going to be publically generous and try and pretend that you are "giving back", put your money where your mouth is and say look we gave this much, please help us help this charity and dig deep.

Thats assuming you really give a flying rats ass about the actual charity, and are not doing it for just a photo op.

Oh wait, I forgot who we are talking about.

I have a friend that works in the publishing business. Kate had very little, if anything, to do with those articles. They are written by her PR firms and distributed to the different publications. Most times the clients never see what is being sent out by the PR firm - that's what the PR firm gets paid to do.

Someone above mentioned that the rift in the family was probably due to not getting enough freebies, I'd be willing to bet that more than anything it was due to many heart to heart talks family members had with them about exploiting thier children. I also think that's the only reason that Jodi and Julie came fwd, as well as other people that have had contact with them. This is the only way they have to get their voice and the kids voices heard, but the people that should be listening and doing something about it, besides thier parents, aren't.
It's a shame that no one thought about picketing the garage sale, that would have gotten the newspapers and media involved, I'm sure. It has to be breaking the families hearts to know they are moving away, my heart just hurts for them, both the kids and the relatives.

Anyway...maybe others have noted this before but I find it "interesting" that when Kate is describing when she first saw Jon, she says, "you had sunglasses on, I couldn't see your eyes" WTF? Why did she need to make a statement about his eyes? Jon follows up by saying, "like that mattered." I don't know why she felt the need to say that, was that a "statement" about the fact that he is asian? I don't know but I don't like it."

Assuming will get you nowhere. She said in the same interview, I think, that she likes Asian guys. She didn't see his eyes that day, I'm sure in the many months they dated she did. It probably wasn't a surprise on their wedding day that he was Asian.

"I don't know but I don't like it."

What's there not to like? It was not a veiled statement. K doesn't have to suppress her feelings and thoughts, as we have seen countless times on the show. Heeelllooooo. Sometimes I wanna spackle her mouth closed.

Poor WonderMom can't even keep her story straight. In one breath she says she packs the twins' lunch the night before then in the next she says she packs eight lunches 'every' morning. I guess she's still having problems with logistics. Oh, and Kate,if my family was going through 3 boxes of cereal in the morning, I'd start buying the jumbo size. (You can put that in your next book and say you thought of it first.)

I have to say I thought Kate once said she liked Asian guys. Am I wrong? She certainly loves it that her kids look Korean. She said on the couch she wishes she were Korean for some reason. So as much as I can't stand Katie Irene for 100 reasons, I don't think of her as racist.

Aliceanon, I noticed that also. I was watching Bill Maher the other night, they were talking about politics. He made the comment about lying, that people that lie like this, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger, longer and longer, until they can't keep track of all the lies. The Woman's Day article says that they drive the tups 1 hour to preschool. I bet it's 3 days a week. Wow, with gas prices the way they are, that has to be one heck of a preschool!

Or it is the only one that offered to take the tups for FREE

Anonymous said...

It must be the same one at their former church where they used to live. They had mentioned the twins went to the preschool there. Remember the episode of when they drove 1 hour to their old church and put the kids in the daycare there?

I was surprised she put them in Pre-K as they are moving. If they film them at the Pre-K, then I am going to really be disgusted. We will see when the episodes start coming this season. Enough is enough. Just make the show about Jon and Kate on the couch and let the kids have some privacy. If they have such a great fan base, then they will continue to watch even Jon and Kate on couch episodes. I mean J&K think its all about them anyway.

I'm pretty sure that would have gotten all the wrong kind of attention to the picketers. If those picketers cost the charity even 1 measly dollar be scaring people away that would be just plain wrong.

I saw this comment over on another site and I think it says it all....

I watch this show just because I’m convinced that one day Jon is going to haul off and punch Kate right in her mouth. It’ll be so awesome. I’ll buy the DVDs fo sho’.

I agree that they probably are driving an hour to a preschool that has either offered to take the kids for free or at a greatly reduced cost---perhaps it is run by the same church that they used to go to. However, that is a long car ride for little kids, IMO. Aren't there any reputable (and I'm assuming, Christian) preschools nearby? I just wonder why because it seems like J&K aren't really involved with their community. It's nice for the kids to make friends in the community with others who live nearby and may be attending the same school. Perhaps because J&K may be moving to another state eventually, they don't see the need for their kids to have friends nearby?
I just hope for the sake of the tups that whatever school they go to does not allow filming.

aliceanon,

I thought I was the only one who noticed the mistake Kate made in the Women's Day article. Is she making the twins' lunches the night before and the tups' and Kon's in the morning? Of course not. Kon isn't going anywhere, so why would she make lunches for them? Or could it be...she's lying through her teeth?! Or the twins are really greedy and eating two lunches everyday! LOL!

Have they so alienated everyone in their immediate vicinity that they have to drive the tups an hour to pre-school?? This long drive to and from is not fair to the kids. Also, wouldn't it be nice if the little friends the kids made in pre-school could be their playmates outside of pre-school? Like go to their houses for playdates, birthday parties, etc.? With the tups living an hour away, you can bet that they will not be building friendships with the kids they go to school with. This is further proof of Kate isolating the tups. Gee, people must really detest Kate in her own immediate area, not to mention the entire state of PA!

Kate claims in the Women's Day article that they go through 2-3 boxes of cereal a morning. The typical box of cereal contains on average 12-15 servings each. The Gosselin kids might like cereal but I highly doubt they are consuming, on a two box cereal day, 24-30 servings of cereal! A three box day would consist of consuming 30-60 servings! Kate exaggerating for the purpose of making yourself appear more credible actually accomplishes quite the opposite. Your incessent HYPERBOLE simply draws more attention to your insecurities and the only person you are fooling is yourself!

According to SLD article the tups go to preschool 3 days a week. So let's see. First she makes 2 lunches the night before, then she makes 8 lunches every morning, but only 2 of the 8 attend school 5 days and 6 of the 8 attend 3 days, so 7 times 8 equals 56 and 2 times 7 equals 14, added to 56 equals 70 minus the days there is no school, would be 5 times 7 equals 35, but then we have the extra lunches made the night before or did I already count them? I guess I understand the logistics thing now. Maybe she makes 129.9% of the meals. I'm confused...someone call the craft truck.

Speaking of the new house... I
just saw a post on ABC's site for the Extreme Home Makeover show.

Obviously, this blogger has never heard the term 'love knows no boundaries'. To justify J & K to be deserving of a bigger home because 'there isnt enough room to hold all their love' is absurd! If J & K were to kick out the camera and production crew and let the air out of their over grown egos, that would free up alot of space to hold all their 'love'.

Did anyone else notice the comment about 'thawing the sauce while the pasta is cooking'? A 'block' of frozen sauce is going to take a good chunk of time to thaw on a stove, maybe 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the size. To feed a family of 10, that would be 1 big block of sauce.

Boiling a pot of water (variable, depending on the amount of water in the pot), and cooking the pasta (5 to 10 minutes, depending on the type of pasta) takes much less time than thawing the sauce. (The sauce can be thawed in the microwave in a matter of minutes.)

Imagine if some poor soul takes Kate’s advice, and ends up w/ frozen sauce and overcooked pasta.

I never got how Beth ended up involved with Kate and Jon. Beth is clearly a classy, well-mannered person, the complete opposite of Kate. Judging from the episode where they shot family photos at Beth and Bob's "estate" (quote from the photographer in a voice-over), the couple are affluent and have taste. What they had in common with Jon and Kate I have no idea. Bob didn't even want to appear on camera (there was a dark clip of him with an edited-in caption that read "rare shot of Bob").

Honestly, it's not the material things (clothing, products, trips, gas etc..) that bother me at all,as I have all those things in my personal life too. The major difficulty that I have and clearly many others do too, is HOW and WHY they've come to receive all these freebies, the kids. How many of us utilize our children to support our families? J/K are able-bodied, healthy, young adults, why didn't they have a plan on how they were going to support all these kids when they decided to gamble with fertility treatments at such young ages? I don't believe that living off their kids and defrauding church goers was their ultimate plan....I just can't give these 2 that much credit.

I really believe that this show needs to be cancelled now. However, if this does not happen then child advocates should be in place daily to ensure that these kids are protected in their "Workplace", just as each of us is protected in ours. Mark my words, the Gosselin children will make a difference in enacting future regulatory laws regarding minors working in reality shows. I hope this will offer some solace to at least some of the kids. J/K both need to grow up and get a clue as well as their own family supporting jobs.

Ruthe,

While I understand your point that Jon and Kate should be lauded for any attempt at giving back, I also feel there are a couple of valid reasons to call them out on it. We know they handed a folded piece of paper to someone at Ronald McDonald House to give a donation and we know they had a yard sale which raised $1100 for pediatric cancer. I do applaud them for those domations. It is a start. However, the fact that the cameras are rolling while these acts are taking place suggests to me that the only reason they made these gestures was because Figure 8/TLC scripted it. Why else would they film and broadcast it? So while I do acknowledge it is a good thing for them to give, the public manner in which they did so negates the true attitude of the heart that should accompany giving. There was no gratitude or compassion being expressed, just fulfilling their contractural obligations to Figure 8/TLC. IMO it is totally relevant to point that out.

To all:

Seriously, I am becoming increasingly frustrated at the recent momentum of KON's (positive) publicity:

Judith Evans
Star
Us
P&G
The Grains Co
The Grand Wailea
Regis and Kelly

We all know the truth behind KON, and I imagine that every one of those listed does as well, but they are more concerned about riding the coattails of a successful show and making money than doing the right thing by not supporting the show or the "actors" in any way. I have written letter after letter after letter and I really wonder if , in the end, it will do any good.

Sigh.

Wait a minute. Did I read somewhere that Kon doesn't go to Kate's dad's church, but instead drives a very long way to attend another church? Her dad's church, its parishoners, those were the people who volunteered and renovated Kon's home and gave them things and money? I'm wondering what could possibly explain that break. She used them up and now she has moved on, doesn't need those people anymore? What else could it be? How badly must her parents feel about that, around friends and church people?

I did notice that her dad's face was blurred in the home video. You all think Kon did it or her father requested it be blurred out? Surely all the people around there know how they are connected by now.

They wanted the younger kids to have the same wonderful preschool teacher their older twins had. That is why they drive that far. It also happens to be there church they attend.

If we lived within one hour of my daughter's preschool teacher, I'd drive my son there! Sadly we are now three hours away from her!

And, this is only afternoon preschool we heard, so is Jon really driving home after dropping them off or is he staying in the area to kill time until they get out?

So what if it's damage control? They made the effort and in my humble opinion, ANY monies donated to a charity is a GOOD thing in my book.

Ruth, you're absolutely right that giving to charity, even if the motivation is suspect, is good.

But, and for me there is a "but" -- but it was done as part of an episode for which the Gosselins earned thousands of dollars. And it was an episode where the children were again filmed - and according to reports from those who attended the event - many of the Gosselin children were reluctant to participate in the photo op portion of the day - but had no choice.

We all want our children to learn to be charitable -- but I don't think this was either a good educational experience for the children or necessarily reflected good parenting decisions on the part of Jon and Kate.

I am pleased that the pediatric cancer charity received donations, but I question the motivations and the methods used to raise the funds.

From all the reports that I've read it was the church Jon and Kate were attending at the time of the tups' birth that remodeled the house and provided the main source of volunteers and support. That is not the same church as where her father was pastor.

Weren't the twins picked up on a bus for preschool? When the tups all stood on the stools to watch them come home? I may be totally wrong and remembering incorrectly, but didn't they cover the twins half day of preschool in one of the very early episodes (when Jon "worked")? So neither one of them could have driven them.

ruthe said...They have been given clothing which you complain about Kate being overly conscious about keeping clean and neat. Yes, they should be purchasing clothes for their own children at this stage of the game; and yes, they should be paying out of their own pockets for any trips and vacations they choose to take. But whether it was TLC (or the Gosselins themselves) who decided to hold this yard sale to benefit a charity (any charity)...should be considered a 'good' thing and not questioned or ripped apart at every turn.

Why not? Anyone who has ever put on a yard/garage sale knows it's a huge pain in the ass to prepare for, and we all know that there is no room in Kate's schedule to prepare for this kind of undertaking. She has a meltdown everytime she has a chore to do around the house so we know organizing a yardsale would have put her into a straight jacket. Making the excuse that it was intended to benefit anything but to try to polish the image of Jon and Kate doesn't wash. A 'good thing' for them to have done would have been to bag up the articles they were given in the first place and give it to a charity with a substantial check of their own, but that doesn't make for good ratings. So in order for it to be a show, they had to script in the kids being present with J&K pleasantly interacting with the common folk and pretending as though it was an act of generosity. They've made a mockery out of their children to serve themselves. Anything and everything they do on that show is eligible for criticism, so yeah, it should be questioned and ripped apart at every turn, until they stop exploiting their children.

I understand where people are coming from here, but how would we know they were giving back if they didn't tell us or we didn't see it on TV? Wouldn't we just continue to assume that they were being greedy? If people were accusing me of being greedy and selfish, I think I'd tell them when I gave back, too.

I recognize that it's all likely damage control, but I said something similar to this in another thread: I'd rather they performed damage control than continued to make new damages or perpetuate old ones.

I guess I just think the hard criticism should be focused at things they're doing wrong (exploiting their children, playing favourites with their children, yelling at each other in front of the children, throwing fits when the children get minorly dirty) than on things they're doing right (like giving to charity, regardless of the possibly sly motives for doing so).

I just wrote to southern shows. Thank you very much for that link. I find it incredible that the people in charge of booking this grifter couple has not been made aware of what they truly are. Kon's PR machine is apparently going crazy, trying to get them in as many publications and forums as they can before the reality of the situation sinks in. Hasn't the penny dropped yet, people, there are lots of women who should and could give advice to others, but this is not one of them. Good Grief!

I understand where people are coming from here, but how would we know they were giving back if they didn't tell us or we didn't see it on TV? Wouldn't we just continue to assume that they were being greedy? If people were accusing me of being greedy and selfish, I think I'd tell them when I gave back, too.

We should learn of their "generosity" the same way we learned of their greed and selfishness. Through word of mouth. J&K had a long history of behaving in a greedy way toward many people, that's why the information worked it's way into the public. They should apply their generosity in the same way. They should behave in a generous way to enough people over a long enough period of time and the information will work its way out to the public.

Generosity doesn't brag. It doesn't advertise. The only way it will work for them is to give consistently over a long period of time without ulterior motives.

I'm a big believer in the "fake it 'til you make it" mantra. If the Gosselins continue to be generous with their success, they will eventually find the joy in it. Helping others makes you feel good. I hope they stick with the charade long enough for the joyfulness of giving to sink in. Perhaps then genuinely giving intentions will emerge.

Giving to improve an image, isn't giving. It's a makeover. They'll only move beyond that with consistency and time.

I agree. What we are witnessing in J & K as of late is a make over in progress at the hands of their PR team. While I dont minimize the worthiness of their charitable donation, I find the timing of their good deed suspect. As their motives are most definitely self serving. J & K , through the assistance of their PR team and reality tv show, are desperately trying re invent their quickly deflating reputation to secure the Gosselin name as a marketable one in the future.

I have a question - hopefully it hasn't been answered elsewhere - in the espisode How We got Here, it shows Jon and Kate opening Christmas presents, and then she opens the one that you are led to believe is an engagement ring. Right? Well - are they in pj's? It looks like they have both just rolled out of bed. Did they live together at this time?

My addendum to a previous post about their donation wasn't posted, so, I'll try to sanitize.

I am certainly no fan of the diva, Kate Gosselin but on this point, I am willing to play Devil's Advocate.

Granted, they could have come up with their own cash or at least matched the dollar figure they raised for their 'favorite' charity. But just for the sake of argument, maybe they HAVE made a contribution that was not televised for public fodder, wisely choosing to keep it to themselves.

You complain that she advertizes a donation, but I think you're just p.o.'ed that you have no way to prove whether or not they have made ANY donations to ANY charities - because if they do, uh-oh ... they're advertizing it.

EVERY little blessed thing does not have to be scrutinized.

Ridicule what you KNOW - her poor choice of wardrobe and hairdo and the Norm Crosby-isms that dribble off her chin every time she opens her mouth.

I am not a "sheeple" and can snark on Kate for days on end.
HOWEVER
It did not bother me that she gave a check to RMDH while on camera. I would have been incensed if they made a big visit like that and not made a donation, especially with their newfound wealth. I am also glad she didn't show the amount which would have been tacky and tasteless in any event.
I don't know what to think about the yard sale. Yes, I'm glad the charity got money but they should have matched it.
I bet Kate is chomping at the bit to get in that mansion and get it on TV so she can show it off to Beth. But Kate, Beth will not be jealous because her husband actually has motivation and EARNED their masion on his hard work and merit, while you and your lazy ass husband pawned your kids' childhood. And oh yeah, Beth has much better taste and is a much better decorator than Kate will ever be!

IMO, It is very hard to take any thing that J & K say or do as genuine or serious whether it be their 'giving back' or advice on how to budget smart to name a few.
Perhaps I wouldnt be so cynical if it they werent so desperately trying to prove what they ARE NOT.
If J & K are so confident in who they ARE and what they represent as a family, why all the wasted time and energy spent on appeasing the negative opinions and critics? If they trust so much in their 'faithful fans' and are of the belief that they are the 'top ranking show' on TLC why give a second thought to the nay sayers?
If they are so confident that they are doing the 'right thing' why go to such lengths to amend what so many have found to be wrong in their choices? J & K have become so all consumed in trying to convince the public what they ARE NOT, there is very little evidence remaining as to the who and what they really ARE!

Nor does it have to be advertised.

I think that for all the "things I would like to see" - even though they are good suggestions, they are simply not in Jon and Kate's nature. Watching them do things that are clearly not in their realm, makes me more disgusted than showing them in all their true selfish glory. IMO.

I agree, it was not until after J & K secured their own selfish glory, ie endless freebies/ cash donations, love offerings, resort vacations, trips to numerous amusement parks , vanity procedures, TLC contract renewal, building their dream home etc. they find it within themselves to 'give back'.

That's advancement? Seems to me she got put out of the house so as not to overhear anything. i am sure KON can't trust anyone these days.

"So whatever happened to Beth? Is she still on board with Kate or has she jumped ship along with Jody? "

Beth is long gone. She was cast aside as easiy as Jodi and Kevin were.

I don't think Jon and Kate driving their kids to a school an hour away is such a big deal. I know a handful of people who drive their kids to a school 45 minutes away from home, just because they liked that school the best.

When my aunt and cousin moved to the next town over, my cousin decided she wanted to finish off school with her friends and was up at 5:30 every morning to get to school on time.

It's been awhile since I've commented on these folks but they are now playing some new weird game where they still go and collect offerings and sell photos at churches yet are giving back for the show with the Ronald McDonald House and now the Peds Cancer thing. Why are they still sucking money off the church goers yet expecting a medal for some measly donation they either got money from other sources (figure 8 or selling their freebies and photos at a "yard sale."
Which is it? Too poor to pay their own way or have the money to give to charity? Their web of lies on their site, the show and in real life is just so whacked.
Yet there seems to be a continued line of idiot corporations that think I'd want to have anything in common with these creeps. Ick, I'd go naked rather then shop Gap, Ann Taylor or where anything near what has touched Katie Irene and I'd sit on the floor before I'd ever buy a thing from Ikea or Lane.
Grains maybe a fond memory if they continue to think I want to hear Katie tell me how to make a freaking sandwich. Idiots.

After seeing the preview of the newest show, I feel sick. If that really is their new house, I'm completely done watching the show. Jon and Kate (BOTH OF THEM) are nothing like how they were when the show started. Kate seems more concerned with her physical appearance than anything else. Jon is just going along for the ride and just seems so obnoxious these days. I feel bad for those kids. Sure, they will have lots of money...but what the heck happened to their parents? They've become money grubbing lunatics!

Jon and Kate, what are you teaching your children? How to work the system? How to have more than most by begging? How to not work for anything? How to end any relationships that does not serve you financialy.
Great job Kon, you are raising 8 children with no clue of how to be a good person.
