Question: The outtake footage of the children that appeared on YouTube - is that from Figure 8? Is it released deliberately or by a disgruntled employee? Thanks.

Answer: We don't know for sure. The children are often filmed while in various stages of nudity. Although this footage is always blurred prior to airing, some of the UNBLURRED footage [of Hannah standing up on the changing table, naked below the waist] was aired on YouTube and viewed over 12,000 times before finally being removed. Although this footage contained the TLC logo, we don't know how it got leaked, or by whom.

Question: Serena, are there certain parameters for questions and answers? Some of us may have a lot of information that you may not want us to share. For example, specific details about Kate's extended family. Are people allowed to ask things like this and, are we allowed to give a detailed answer if we know it? Just asking. Can you advise? Thanks.

Answer: The parameters for information published in these comments will be the same as for comments published in other blog entries -- no personal information that would compromise the safety of the Gosselin family, no information that is stated to be a fact which we can't verify as fact, etc. If you submit a comment to this blog entry and it is not selected for publication, you may contact us directly via email for an explanation.

Question: I've read about the situation with Aunt Jodi. What was the story with Beth? When did it happen?

Answer: The story is very similar to Aunt Jodi. Production wanted to pay Beth and Bob for the time spent filming in their home and on their property. Kate strenuously objected and Bob put an end to any more intrusions from the film crew.

Question: Well, my question is - do people think J&K know specifically about GWoP and are reading it themselves? Or - do they have a team of PR people who read all blogs for them and then tell them how to behave on the show to offset astute observations of their behavior?

Answer: We know that at least Jon reads here (and other sites discussing the show); we have even received more than one vulgar comment from him, strewn with obscenities.

We don't know about their PR firm and what they might be tracking, but I think it is obvious to the regular viewer that "damage control" footage is often included in the episodes.

Out of curiosity, does anybody know if the labor laws restricting child actors' work hours apply for reality show children, such as the Gosselins?

Answer: Sadly, no; the industry standard regulations -- regulations that were fought for long and hard by those who have gone before them -- do not apply to children in reality TV shows.

That is perhaps THE main focus of our concerns. The regulations have not caught up with the relatively new genre of reality TV and obviously parents like Jon and Kate and production companies like Figure 8 Films do not care to follow those regulations. Regulations which were implemented for a very good reason and which are meant to protect the welfare of children.

Question: You mentioned that Jon has posted or sent GWoP many obscene comments. Are any of them still posted here on the threads or have you guys removed them?

Answer: None of those comments were ever posted. They were not worthy of posting and did not meet our posting standards. They are, however, being retained.

QUESTION: Julie has been such a brave soul to come forward with behind the scenes details concerning her sister.
How is Aunt Jody doing with all of this coming to light? Is she still able to see the Gosslin kids at all?
How has all this affected her children?

ANSWER: This would have to be answered by Jodi herself. Or, perhaps, Julie would like to answer. We will leave that up to them.

QUESTION: This is more a question geared towards one of the posters. In one of the posts a while back someone eluded to halloween night at the Gosselin's house. There were a few people in that post that was interested but no one ever clarified what happened. I don't know why that particular factoid interests me so much, it just does.

ANSWER: We have asked Julie about the Halloween incident. She was planning to ask Jodi. We have yet to receive a response.

It seems like I recall seeing bits and pieces of an episode a few months back where Jon & Kate were house hunting. If memory serves, they dropped a few of the kids and Beth's and were looking at a house somewhere in the country.

That episode was called "Carpeting the House" it aired back in mid-March

QUESTION: I think you are going to hate my question and I am sorry, but you seem to be going "Big Time" on here. By that I mean, you now say "All Rights Reserved" and I have seen mention of copyrights and needing permission to copy anything here.

I also happened to click on the "Best Sites" drop down, thinking you would list your favorite sites and what I got was ads and pop-ups that I couldn't back out of. So my point... this site was created to chat about the Gosselins and their family, now if you are going to have ads, which means you are going to make money off of a blog site that bloggers can get free if they want, does this not make you just as bad as the Gosselins? Are you not profiting from these kids?

ANSWER: Those links are put on our blog by our site counter. We have nothing to do with them. We do not endorse any site or products. We are not making a penny from this blog.

QUESTION: Exactly where in NC are the Gosselins moving? When is this move happening?

ANSWER: We have no idea. However, we suspect that they might be moving near the headquarters of Figure 8 Films, their producer, in Carrboro, NC.

iluveeyore said...

QUESTION: have been reading for quite some time about the supposed move to NC, etc. What troubles me is the ‘Looking For Property’ episode has been removed or switched, and on my DVR schedule there are random empty times for the show with no description. I also have not seen the cupcake episode or several others repeated except for the first week they were on. Any reason why the shows have been removed and are not in repeats?

QUESTION: Has anyone noticed the tups 4th birthday eposide has not been rerunned? I was on vacation when that eposide was aired and thought for sure I would catch it when I got back. That was a month ago and still have not seen it on again...

ANSWER: We have no "inside" knowledge about this. However, we have noticed that very controversial episodes are either not shown again or "edited" before they are shown again (to remove as much controversial footage as possible).

QUESTION: Do you think someone can post a more detailed article about Beth? Simply saying "it's the same situation" in a blog entry will not dispel all of the questions, misinformation and downright ignorance that is going around.

It seems to me that for whatever reason Jodi gets much more coverage as far as discussions on this board are concerned. Please post a feature article about Beth with more details; even if you have no details perhaps you can give some basic information so viewers will at least have a heads up.

I remember a while back one of the bloggies who posts on here stated something like when/if Beth wants to come out and discuss this she will, otherwise they will not talk about it. However it seems that that's no longer the SOP as far as responses to Beth's sudden disappearance are concerned? Now you're saying "same situation..."

I also think it's important to discuss Beth because she is the co-author of their book that will be out in the fall. I'm assuming she will not being going on the book tour with Jon & Kate. How exactly can they justify that? What is going to happen? And I know that Jon's name was suddenly added to the book as the author, but won't it look bad for Kate to have Beth's name on the cover since Beth's no longer involved in their day to day lives?

ANSWER: We have no idea how they will explain it when Beth does not go on book tours.

One possibility of why Jon's name is now on the book jacket is that now the Gosselins get 2/3 of the profits instead of 1/2.

We do not know the answers to every question on earth. We have heard from people who are knowledgable (and we cannot divulge our source for this so we really don't like to post it), that TLC wanted to pay Beth for her house/appearances. Kate said no. Bob said, if that is the case, they could no longer film at their house.

We do not know anything else about the situation... other than the fact that in Utah Beth actually seemed to be embarrassed by Kate's behavior at the spa. Earlier, Kate had "the worst headache of my life." Then she was totally giddy at the spa.

QUESTION: Question: A few years ago the Gosselins were on the show Home Delivery where their old house was renovated. Apparently, when doing the grand tour after it was done, Kate was less than grateful and even a bit rude about the renovations. Does anyone have that on tape that they could upload it to YouTube or this site? I'd love to see it for myself!

ANSWER: We do not know if that is available on YouTube. We'd love to see it also.

QUESTION: There was A LOT of talk about Jodi/Julie a few weeks back. In "real" time the issues revolving around Jodi and the Gosselin's happened months ago. Why then did this "information" come out so long after the fact?

Also, Julie has not posted many new comments about the Gosselins. It seems that she stopped posting (except for the bit on the National Inquirer article) right after Jon and Kate posted the message to their fans on their website. Just wondering if something transpired between her and the Gosselins or her and Jodi to decrease her comments? Do you have an update from her?

ANSWER: You would have to ask Julie about the time factor. I think she might have been summoning the courage to post. It took a lot of courage to do that.

Also, I think Julie has been "quiet" for a while because she was busy with her work and her family and was on vacation.

QUESTION: the kids wear gymboree and gap... is there some "deal" or "catch" to that? I thought I had heard that they get that for free and then Kate consigns them. I guess my question is do they get them for free, and if so, is there a length of time they recieve these?

ANSWER: The kids seem to get free Gap and Gymboree clothes. We have no idea how long they are going to receive those.

QUESTION: why are kate and jon so obsessed with keeping the boys in the boys room and girls in the girls' room. Um I'm not sure if this is helpful - but there was the scene where they were playing the "3 little monkeys" and they started yelling for the girls to get out of the boys room :D,

ANSWER: Kate could not wait to get the boy and girl tups separated. They also used to have "boys' toys" and "girls' toys" (which Kate denied on All Aboard). I suspect that was a difficult state of affairs to maintain. As Jon said "The girls steal the boys' toys." When one of the girls said she wanted to sleep with the boys, Kate told her she would not do that any more... not until she was married!!!

We have no idea why Kate (and now Jon)is so adamant about separating the boys and the girls. They all seem to get dressed together in the living room. I'm sure the door to the bathroom when they're being bathed is not closed...

Just another one of Kate's incomprehensible fears...

ETA:

From an anonymous reader: The kids also have potties all over the place, with no privacy, and the kids are being filmed by non-family members.

QUESTION: Next ?: Whatever happened to Nana Janet? I remember her from the three birthday carnival party. Didn't she fold laundry, or put it away, or watch the kids or something? I haven't heard of her lately.
THANKS! :-)

ANSWER: Nana Janet and Bev, who ironed and folded laundry (Carla put it away) seem to have moved from the area. I've wondered if those poor ladies had to do that to get out of their assignments ;).

QUESTION: I know it's been asked but what was the car accident incident?? Obviously Kate was involved. Was it in the white van?

ANSWER: This has not been confirmed. The incident happened with the blue van. It backed into another vehicle and took off. The driver of the other vehicle noted the license plate. A policeman appeared at Kate's door. Kate told him that she didn't stop because she is "in the public eye." We do not know the outcome.

Administrative Note: As you can see, we are going to keep the comments section for this blog entry cleaned up. As answers to questions are posted, we will delete the original comment asking the question.

Also, we will not be publishing comments which are simply talking about the Q&A's rather than asking or answering a question. As you can see, this blog entry is going to generate a lot of traffic and if we don't keep it trimmed it will quickly get too big and difficult for readers to keep up with.

QUESTION: It is clear that Jodi and Beth have not been in any episodes of late. To what extent the controversary over letting them get compensated for filming in their homes is up for debate. However, my question is, just because they are not on the show, how do we know that they have severed all ties. Kate just mentioned in a recent show that "Beth was an angel" which I would then assume they are still friends and Julie stated that Jodi did see the kids on their b-day. Just because they are not on the show anymore does not mean that they aren't involved in the Gosselin's lives, correct? Or do you have information that proves otherwise?

ANSWER: This is another question that Julie would have to answer... here or on her blog. We think that Jodi and Beth are, sadly, now out of the kids' lives, but Jodi/Julie would have to confirm that.

QUESTION: I keep reading that J&K have someone come in and do their laundry (not just the folidng and putting away)

Is this confirmed or just speculation?

ANSWER: At one time it was pretty definitely reported that a laundry service was seen at the Gosselin house, probably picking up and delivering laundry. We did not know how that came about or whether it was short-term, long-term, free, or just doing the tups' clothing.

Whatever those circumstances were, they seem to be over. The last we have seen (whether staged or not), Kate was doing the washing and drying, Nana Janet was ironing, Bev was sorting, and Carla was putting away. We now know that Nana Janet and Bev have moved away. We have no idea what happened to Carla (who was also seen on tv organizing Kate's kitchen cabinets).

I would not be surprised, with the new-found entitlements (chef, nannies) that the Gosselins are receiving, they are again sending out laundry -- for the whole family this time. If so, it is difficult to understand Kate's aversion to stains -- unless it reduces the consignment value.

QUESTION: Jon has said that his mother is not involved because she works full-time and has remarried. This is a ridiculous comment and I am wondering if anyone knows if she is out of the picture because Kate cut her off too. I know she still lives in PA within a very reasonable driving distance from them. Did Kate give her the axe as well?

ANSWER: We have gotten mixed messages about Jon's mother. Yes, she does indeed live within driving distance. I am not sure that even Julie would know the details of their estrangement.

The only "information" that I can give you is that the situation is very complicated. It would make a good novel. I wish I could tell you more, but that is not for me to say (at least at this time). I'm sorry.

QUESTION: Do any of the Gosselin's neighbors ever blog about them or discuss seeing them... whether they wave or whether their kids ever play with them, etc.?

ANSWER: The Gosselin's neighbors are very circumspect. Supposedly, there are often other kids outside playing, but the Gosselin kids have to stay on their driveway so they can be filmed. It has also been said that if waved to, Jon and Kate do not wave back.

Recently, several neighbors called a local radio show to complain about the signs on the lawn and all the (crew) vehicles that are always parked on the street.

I've gotten the distinct impression that the neighbors will not be sad to see them leave.

QUESTION: So how much money does GWoP generate for the admins?

ANSWER: None. GWoP does not generate any type of income whatsoever, and it never will. We don't run ads of any kind -- there are a few links at the very bottom of the sidebar that are placed there by various types of services we use, but those links do not generate income.

All the blog admins are volunteers, working on the blog in their free time from their various careers, and receive no type of pay.

QUESTION: Serena,

I know this is a lot of work - but would you consider a "Body of Evidence"/"Make Up Your Own Mind" page where you can leave the links (or cached pages) of the various stories many of us have found in the past?

Especially tell for me was the one from the local PA paper that quoted Kate for wanting a free nurse one more year. So that would one I would want. Or the link that shows how to donate OFFICIALLY to the 'tups college fund from the Governor of PA.

Anyway, I just think that a link page that shows what we've been seeing and is NEWS and comes from a NEWS source should be available for people to read and make up their own minds.

Of course, it should still keep the links to like the Washington Post article to compare and contrast - please consider.

THANKS!

Answer: Beverly -- let me give your suggestion more thought. I've emailed it to me so I won't forget it... it's a good idea, we just need to kick it around and see how to best implement it. Thanks!

QUESTION: Julie has a blog and there's a link to it here on this site. But where is the link to Jodi's blog?

ANSWER: We won't be publishing that without Jodi's permission -- it is set to private and she wants to keep it that way.

QUESTION: If GWoP doesn't have a single definitive answer for why the Gosselins are estranged from their families then why is your staff contributor, iluveeyore, saying that they know but can't tell?

ANSWER: We have more information than we are willing to publish -- therefore, we don't have a single definitive answer that we are free to share at this time.

QUESTION: I think your readers are curious to know what you know.

ANSWER: Perhaps. But being curious to know is not analogous to having the right to know. We are not journalists nor is this an arm of the news media; it is simply a blog to be read by those who find it interesting. We are aware that this causes frustration in some readers.

QUESTION: Why are you unwilling to post that information?

ANSWER: Out of respect for the privacy of our sources.

QUESTION: Or are you not allowed to, for legal reasons?

ANSWER: Legality has nothing to do with our discretion -- only the honoring of promises made to protect certain identities. Why thos promises were made will not be discussed here.

"We have no idea what happened to Carla (who was also seen on tv organizing Kate's kitchen cabinets)."

Note to blog "owners" (?)
Carla still lives where she always has. I attend church with her and serve in the same ministry area. I chatted with her about the show when the laundry episode first aired. I will casually ask her, "So, do you still put the Gosselin's clothes away every Thursday?" the next time that I see her, which will most likely be on Sunday. I'll let you know...

QUESTION: Why is one of the girls sleeping in the basement?

ANSWER: Kate explained in a previous episode that Alexis is made to sleep in the basement because she has a tendency to awaken early and disturb the other children.

While it hasn't been said on the show, it appears as if Jon sleeps down there, too, and we've heard the twins refer to the master bedroom and bed as "Mom's room", and "Mom's bed".

QUESTION: I'm not understanding how you get the scoop on personal info regarding family members and those members not being in the picture, BUT you cannot say the reasons here. For those of us who are curious, it's like dangling a carrot. When will you be able to divulge that info, if ever?

ANSWER: At this point, we don't know the answer to that. We tell you what we have come to know, but we cannot always fully divulge the source. Readers may make of that exactly what they wish; it isn't our desire to convince anyone, only to share what we have come to learn.

QUESTION: Is the holding back because of liability?

ANSWER: No.

QUESTION: Would you guys get sued if any of that would come out?

ANSWER: No. We publish nothing actionable. It is also difficult to sue anyone who is just stating undeniable facts.

QUESTION: has anyone ever seen the gosselin's eating fast food? we'vw seen snack bar hot dogs. Where did they eat lunch after visiting thomas the train?

secondly, if the children don't watch tv, (i think kate once said they only watch the roloffs(LPBW)- i'm sure that's interesting to a preschooler) how do the children even recognize thomas, elmo, ernie, disney princesses?

ANSWER: We have seen Jon delivering McDonald's food to the kids during one of their outings (skiing). We have seen McDonald's drink cups sitting on the twins' nightstands.

We were not shown where they ate on the way home from the Strasburg Railroad. I distinctly remember her telling the kids to go lie down and watch TV when they got home. I truly fail to believe that Kate prepared lunch when they got home... they might have had a delivery from their chef waiting for them.

As for Kate's announcement that the kids only watch their own show and LPBW... so how can they be familiar with all those characters. Think about it.

Me thinks that Kate doth protest too much. They actually said that the kids watch cartoons while they are getting the twins ready for school. I'm sure they watch lots of other shows.

Kate actually said that Alexis is their TV expert. Alexis has access to a TV in the basement where she sleeps.

QUESTION: At their speaking engagements, do Jon and Kate tell people that they are financially struggling now? I hear this alot on this blog. I went to a speaking engagement and they spoke of having a hard time initially but talked about how blessed they have been and all the stuff they are doing now. Is each "talk" different?

Did Jon and Kate pay Jodi to watch the kids? (I thought Julie made referece to that?)

Are Jon and Kate going on a book tour for their new book? If so, how do we know this and is there a schedule?

We have heard from people who have attended their speaking engagements that Jon and Kate are "fuzzy" about exactly what their circumstances are now -- but they love to tell stories about finding mortgage money in couch cushions. That leads up to the collection of "love offerings."

Jodi was NEVER paid to watch their children. Neither was Beth. TLC wanted to start paying Jodi and Beth -- but Kate was opposed, so Jodi and Beth are no longer seen on the show.

The publication of most books that are expected to be popular is accompanied by book tours by the authors. We have no information about specific schedules, but we assume there will be some form of a "book tour" once the book is published. (Lordy be, the Today show will be jumping through its butt to have the whole family on to show off the book.)

QUESTION: I have a question of curiosity? I watched the episode the other day when everyone went to Disney? I know Kate will not allow Jodi or Beth to get paid for appearing on the episoes but did TLC pay for Beth's Disney vacation? Or is that something Kate would not allow? Does anybody know how that worked?

Not only was Beth waiting for them at DW, she had her 3 daughters with her! We do not know who paid for Beth and her daughters to be at Disney World -- but she would be quite a friend to have paid for it herself. Personally, I assumed that Figure 8 Films/TLC had paid their transportation and room and board. They did not get paid anything for their time.

QUESTION: I was wondering if anyone knows how Jon and Kate justify paying hired help, if they won't let Aunt Jodi, or anyone else, make money off their kids?

Because the way I see it, the money is being spent, its just the helpers that get it now...right?

I don't get it. I must be missing something. Anyone care to fill me in?

ANSWER: Believe me, the irony of that situation has not been lost on us. You aren't missing anything... you're seeing it perfectly clearly. For some reason, Kate has said "Nobody makes money off these kids but me." Her family and friends cannot be paid, but she seems to have no problem with paying strangers!

QUESTION: QUESTION: Hi, I have questions:
What are the alleged "tales of poverty" Jon & Kate tell people at their church speaking appearances? (Which then increase their Love Offering amount). How come they never mention all of their public appearances on the show? Is it because TLC wants to remain religion-neutral?
Thanks!

ANSWER: I have read that TLC does not approve of their "speaking engagements." That would explain the fact that their public appearances are not mentioned on the show. It is also true that TLC does not want religion mentioned (I think they get enough of that with the Duggars). They do not want to offend any viewers who might be turned off by fundamentalists.

At their speaking engagements, Jon and Kate don't seem to draw any line about stories of their early days (6 new babies and an unemployed father) and their present day circumstances. It can be confusing to their audience. Then they have a slide show of the children, play music, and pass around a plate for love offerings.

Question: It has pretty well been established that Jon's work history is sketchy. He worked in a hotel, then in retail, then the state of PA gave him a job as an "IT Analyst" when the tups came (per Kate's pleading to an elected official). I think there was a job between the retail one and the state job. Do you know what this was and did he get fired from it? If so, why? It has been said that he "got fired because he tried to get group medical insurance for the tuplets." Now, this does not ring true as it is quite ludicrous. Julie's recent post states, "Jon is unmotivated and has trouble keeping a job" which certainly suggests he got canned. Any info on this? Thanks.

iluveeyore said...

QUESTION: Has it been confirmed that Jon no longer has a job or is that assumption being made based on circumstantial evidence (always around the house, no longer shown leaving in the morning, sketchy and ever-changing description of new closet job)? I thought I remembered AJ's sister once mentioning that neither is employed, but cannot remember where I saw this.

ANSWER: I'm sorry I do not remember which episode it was, but on TV Jon announced himself that he is now "self-employed" and can make his own hours. He then showed us a chair and a computer in a CLOSET off the master bedroom.

Since that announcement, we have never seen Jon doing anything in the closet. But we have been told that he gets all the kids up and dressed and fed. We've also seen him going to the gym and golfing on weekdays when there is no one else around. He also seems to run the family's errands (bank, post office, gassing up the cars, etc.). He then bathes the kids at night and puts them to bed. Not once has he (or Kate) mentioned that his is doing any kind of work. Some people think he is doing web design. However, the Gosselin web site is made from a template and is rarely, if ever, updated. If that is an example of Jon's work, it is not going to bring in a lot of business.

One of my favorite lines from a past episode is Kate staring at Jon and whining "I wish you could spend more time with us." Kate got her wish. I'd bet anything that both Kate and Jon are living off the proceeds of their children's childhood.

ANSWER: Yes, the issue with the contract happened back at the end of April. At that time, Kate told Jodi that she wanted to give her a “part-time job” and would still use her during the interview sessions and on the weekends for the speaking engagements. She wouldn’t allow Jodi to be shown on camera, but wanted her help off camera. Jodi did keep the 3 youngest girls one weekend in the beginning of May. Soon after that, Kate called Jodi and said that Jenny needed more hours and Jodi’s services were no longer needed. Jodi had told me before that if TLC would pay for child care, then Kate would just hire someone and that would be it. The show is their life, and they don’t have time for anyone who isn’t involved in the show. Jodi always says "it is what it is". I think that's so sad for everyone.

It was also around that time that I started reading discussion boards and figuring out what had been going on in the episodes and speaking engagements.
The more I read, the more I found out that everyone was being deceived. I couldn’t believe the lies that were being told. It started to really bother me. I also thought it was horrible what they did to Jodi, and I knew that they’d either never mention Jodi again (as they did with Beth) or make up some excuse that it was just too much for Jodi or something like that. Jodi and I had many talks about what was going on. Things seemed to start spiraling out of control in the early spring. Back when Jodi traveled with them for the Ellen show (around October), the show hadn’t really caught on. Jodi traveled to Utah, Oprah and the Upfronts and in those 6 months, thing drastically changed. Kate has always been the way she is, but the fame and money has really gone to her head.

I told Jodi that I wanted to blog about a few things that were bothering me. Basically, the lies they were telling during their speaking engagements, the amount of help that they have, the reason Jodi wouldn’t be on the show, and I also wanted to set the story straight about the gum. I didn’t want to make things any worse for Jodi, so we just waited to see what would happen with J&K. By the end of June, Jodi had only seen the kids once, and that was when Jon brought them up before they left for vacation in NC. During that visit, Jon mentioned the blogs that were online—said he didn’t care--and Kevin told him if he hadn’t read my blog, that he should. At that point, I had only made a few posts.

I asked Jodi what she thought would happen when they read it, and she said they’d probably never mention it. She said that even if nothing happened and they were on the best of terms when J&K moved, that Jodi and Kevin would never hear from them. They just don’t keep up relationships with anyone unless they can get something from them.

So I blogged about what we agreed to. It wasn’t meant to be a “tell-all”. I just wanted to know that I did my part to bring some truth to the situation. I would love to blog about everything. Jodi has been part of this since the beginning and has seen so much. Her stories are fascinating. She’s met so many celebrities and has seen first-hand the treatment that they receive. The way Kate has reacted to all of it is just unbelievable! But unless Jodi gives me the “go ahead”, I’ll have to be content leaving comments on GWoP. I would never break her trust and blog about anything without her permission. Maybe one day she’ll feel comfortable enough to tell her own story.

When J&K returned from their vacation, there was an email exchange between Jodi and Kate—initiated by Jodi. My blog was never brought up. They have not said a word to Jodi or Kevin about my blog. I know many people think my blog is harsh or hateful. What they don’t understand is that I have used great restraint and that what I blogged about probably doesn’t really bother J&K that much. There are so many other things that I could write about, and they know that.

There has been no conversation saying what their relationship is now or whether or not Jodi and Kevin are allowed to be involved in their lives. It’s just an unspoken thing. They will probably never say “you can’t see our kids”, but they’ll never make the time for it. They’re too busy. Jodi used to watch their kids, Kevin used to do handyman jobs, but now that everything is paid for by the network, Jodi and Kevin are no longer “needed”. That’s just the way it is.

I’m trying to keep up with the comments on here. I really enjoy this blog and appreciate the staff’s work in keeping it running in a respectful way. I love reading everyone’s opinions and hopefully I can help get more information out. As I said before, I’d never break Jodi’s trust, and there are some things that are off limits, and I respect that.

Question: Did Jon and Kate pay Jodi to watch the kids? (I thought Julie made referece to that?)

Answer: J&K don't pay for anything. All of the paid help, services, trips, anything you see them buy or do, etc is all paid for by the network. These are perks that are separate from the money they make per episode.

QUESTION: You state that Jon posted inappropriate comments on your blog. How do you know that it is Jon himself posting these comments? Couldn't it be a poser?

ANSWER: We have seen posers, and we have seen Jon. We know the difference, we know it was Jon, and that is all we choose to say about the issue.

QUESTION: I'm a little confused. There were some posts that Jodi was seen in North Carolina with the Gosselins. But from Julie's post, it looks like she only saw the children at her home before they went to NC and did not accompany them to NC.

ANSWER: That was Jenny, the nanny, that was seen with the Gosselins. She accompanies them when they travel (you can see her briefly in the most recent All Aboard episode). She was originally blonde, when hired. Now she is darker, with a reddish tint.

Did she change to look more like Jodi and be mistaken for her when spotted in public with the family, or when seen in the background on episodes? Did she change because Jon has professed an affinity toward blondes? There are some questions even we can't answer.

Question: Kate was very specific when she talked about taking each child out for their own special day. She said, because of the cost, they spread it out to once a month and had to save money for each trip. Was this a lie? Did the production company pay for the trips? Were they even done once a month or was that a lie too? Does she think we are fools? Oh, my gosh, it's a fake. Are the kids even theirs?

Answer: Yes, it was all lies. I was told that anything you see them buy or do is completely paid for as part of the budget for that episode. They taped the one on one days back to back over a few weeks. Kate actually says that at the beginning of the GumGate episode. The producer tells them what the episodes are going to be based on what she thinks the public wants to see. So spending alone time with each child isn't something J&K thought of or even do. It was for the show. The Christmas episode (I haven't seen it)--they were told that the viewers wanted to see that they appreciate their "helpers". Kate didn't want to bake cookies or whatever they did. Jen made her. Did anyone notice that they didn't go to Jodi and Kevin's house? Well, the evening they were taping, Jodi and Kevin had other plans and weren't home. Jen told Kate that the viewers would want to see them show appreciation to Jodi and Kevin, so she said they could tape that the next evening. Kate refused.

What really irritates me is that they go out of their way to explain what they are doing or why, and it's all made up.

Question:
How often does Kate have the chef? Is it once a month, once a week, or several times a week? Is it a meal delivery service for organic food? I'm just shocked. That's part of her whole thing, "Make a meal, clean up a meal..."

Also, can you tell us about her assistant? Is she full time? What does she do - answer emails, shop, run errands? They have lost the whole point of the show. It should be called Jon and Kate Plus All
Their Help!

Answer: The chef comes once or twice/week and delivers enough food for the entire week. She makes all of the meals, and also does the grocery shopping for snacks, lunches, etc. This isn't one of those services where the meals are assembled and delivered. She is an actual chef who cooks gourmet food and also brings wine and flowers.

I don't know the specifics of Jenny's contract. Her main responsibility is child care, but she also runs errands and whatever else Kate wants.

Carla is also still there every Thursday to do other tasks that Kate wants, such as organizing, spot cleaning, putting the laundry away, and other errands. Carla is being paid an hourly rate by TLC.

Question: What is the approximate number of production staff in their home at any given moment?

Answer: There are 4-5 production staff. At least 2 for the cameras, the producer and a person who helps set things up, etc. Sometimes, depending on what they are filming, there is an additional camera.

Question: Did Jon go to/ finish college? Did Kate go to a two year or a four year school for nursing?

Answer: Jon took some sort of IT class after they were married. He might have gone to college briefly before, but he doesn't have a degree. Kate was in a two year nursing program.

QUESTION: Does Jodie have legal recourse to get paid by TLC for all the work she put in that was shown on TV?

ANSWER: After Kate's objection to TLC starting to pay Jodi for her involvement in the show, TLC later offered to pay Jodi and Kevin "hush money", but only in return for a signed confidentiality agreement. Julie might know if that was ever signed; the last I heard, Jodi and Kevin didn't want any part of that deal.

QUESTION: Does Jodie have legal recourse to get paid by TLC for all the work she put in that was shown on TV?

Answer: About a month ago, Jodi was contacted by TLC and they offered to pay her for a trip that she took back in April. They wanted her sign some paperwork, but I don't know the specifics of what it said. When J&K signed on for season 4, their new PR person made sure that workers sign a confidentiality agreement. It appears that TLC was trying to pay Jodi, but only if she would sign something. She refused and told them that she is no longer involved with the show, so she didn't feel comfortable signing anything.

QUESTION: Do Jon and Kate bring the kids to all their speaking engagements? If not, who watches them at home or stays with them at the hotel?

ANSWER: We are not experts about this. We do know that they took all the kids to Ohio, because Kate has a sister who lives there and they were planning to get together. Jon and Kate told the audience in Ohio that their kids were at home... possibly for safety reasons.

On other occasions, they have taken the twins with them. It is likely that, in the past, the kids were farmed out to Jodi and Beth. They are probably now left with hired help.

QUESTION: Can you shed some light on the sponsors. Do the producers contact Crayola and ask to come film or is itthe other way around. Also does TLC pay for everything on the trips and outings such as the trip to Utah or the special days or do the Gosselin's also contribute? I remember Jon mentioning something about setting aside money to allow for these special days.

ANSWER: It is our impresson that Figure 8 Films or TLC approach the venues. They then tell Jon and Kate where they are going. Anything that is filmed for the show is paid for by Figure 8/TLC. They paid for the trips to DW and Utah and all the amusement parks. We don't know for sure, but they probably also pay for the gas... and for any "helpers" who are "needed" to go along. I'm sure that Beth did not finance her trip to Utah. We do not know who paid for Beth and her 3 daughters to be waiting at DW.

QUESTION: What episode is it that Kate placed her hand on Jon's thigh and he tells her it is a PG show? It is moments like these that help me believe Jon and Kate have somewhat of a resemblence of a real relationship off the camera!

QUESTION: Did Jon and his Mom have a fight over his father's estate? I have seen pictures of Jon's Dad with the twins as babies, but never his Mom. Being a doctor and because of taxes, I would think that he would have left some sort of inheritance to Jon, even with his wife still alive. Is she the wealthy relative people talk about?

Jon's Grandmother, his Mom's Mother, came to one of the birthday parties. He spoke very lovingly of her. It is strange that he would be close with her, but not his Mom. Although, every family is different.

Jon said his Mom remarried. Were his parents divorced or did she remarry after her husband's death? It is sad the kids don't have much extended family that they are close to. Thanks.

ANSWER: When Jon met Kate, his parents were already divorced and he was living with his mother. We assume his father's estate was probably divided among Jon and his two brothers.

Yes -- the "rich relative" who was supporting them when the tups were born and Jon was unemployed was probably Jon's father.

Yes -- the fact that they see Jon's grandmother, but not his mother, is odd.

Yes -- it is sad that the kids don't have much extended family. (One of Kate's sisters has blogged that Kate made her choose between seeing her parents or seeing the Gosselins.) It sometimes seems to be one hot mess.

QUESTION: If Kate isn't involved with the kids at all, then why on earth did she want to have kids to start with? Was it her plan from the start to have multiples knowing that she could live off them? Does she even have PCOS?

ANSWER: Those are excellent questions. We have often wondered the same thing. I suspect that Kate likes babies -- she WAS a labor/delivery nurse. As for planning to have multiples knowing that she could live off them... I don't think Kate thinks that far ahead. It was only after the birth of the tups that she realized the gravy train she might have -- supposedly, she shopped photos to the media.

According to a comment at another thread, Kate no longer takes care of her kids at all. That is Jon's job and the job of the hired help.

As for whether she actually has PCOS, we certainly have not had access to her medical records. We do know that she was married in June and 6 months later she was on fertility treatments. That is quite unusual. Two months later, she was pregnant. That could not have been a very severe PCOS condition.

Question: Does anybody (Truth perhaps) know what Kevin thinks of his sister's diva-like behavior? Also, what was his reaction to her treatment of Jodi during the whole gum incident?

Answer: Kevin has never really wanted to have anything to do with the show. He doesn't like talking about it and really didn't want to be involved. He was working most of the time that Jodi watched the kids and he stayed out of the situations as much as possible. Jodi has learned over the years how to keep the peace in the family, and that's what she did. He took it upon himself to talk to Kate when the contract issue was brought to their attention, and when they found out that she was continuing to lie to them. Jodi never sent him to confront Kate, as some suggested.

The gum incident never really happened directly to Jodi (face to face). She saw what happened and heard their comments on TV, just like the rest of us. There were many things that Kate did and said directly to her, and none of that has been shown on TV. GumGate is just the tip of the iceberg.

I don't feel like I can comment on what Kevin thinks, but I will say that his loyalty lies with Jodi.

QUESTION: Does anyone know how Kate ended up being as dysfunctional as she is? I've wondered whether her pathology is rooted in poor parenting, but from what I've seen, it seems like all of her siblings are reasonable, "normal" people. So what went wrong with Kate to make her the way she is now?

ANSWER: We are not here to psychoanalyze Kate -- or her siblings. Of course, like anyone else, we do have our theories, but it is not our place to publicize them.

QUESTION: Do you think the kids are happy in the situation with the camera and help? Do you think Mady and Cara would prefer to be done?

ANSWER: Mady and Cara are old enough to remember what it was like pre-cameras (and pre-sextuplets). Mady seems to be very annoyed with having the cameras and crew around. She has put her hand in front of the lens, sprayed water on the camera, and slammed a door in front of the camera. It can't be easy knowing that your friends and classmates can watch you having a tantrum or watch your parents talking about you.

As for the sextuplets, they have had the cameras in their lives since they were 16 months old. It is difficult to know if they have any thoughts at all about the cameras. We were actually told that Collin was "camera shy" about sitting on a potty with a camera in his face. The sextuplets also get dragged around to make "good tv." Two of the girls vomit on cue for attention. Sometimes one of them will just stand in one spot and scream. They have "helpers" come and go -- here today, gone tomorrow. But while they are there, the kids are told that they love them... then they disappear.

We believe that the public display of their lives cannot be having much of a positive influence on any of the children.

QUESTION: How did two people so young even know for sure they were technically infertile, let alone amass the money to pay for the long road of treatment? And furthermore, how did they get any doctor to do the two procedures (for the twins and then for the sextuplets) so close together? Any fertility specialist I ever had any dealings with wanted you to try to conceive without medical intervention for a year before beginning medications/surgery. Many specialists I talked to wouldn't even see you until you were 25. I had to bring a birth cert. to prove I was over 25.
________
Exactly!!! I never understood how a reputable doctor would do this. This is the question I would love to have an answer to! Does anyone know about this?

ANSWER: That was a long question and this will be a long answer. We do not understand how Jon and Kate managed to get fertility treatments so young and so soon after their marriage... it seems to have been only 6 months. As a nurse in labor/delivery, perhaps Kate had access to doctors/medications not as available to other people. We do not know how they paid for it, although they had IUI, not IVF, which is cheaper. Perhaps Jon's father paid for it. There was no "long road of treatment." Each time, Kate got pregnant almost immediately.

As for getting a doctor to do IUI for them again "so soon,"
the twins were about 3 years old when they tried again. We know that Jon was not eager to have more children. After receiving medication, Kate hyperovulated and was hospitalized for that. She was told to wait for a cycle with fewer ripe follicles. She didn't. We don't know if her eggs were fertilized by a doctor (which would probably be considered to be highly unethical) or she just went home and told Jon "Let's go!" We wonder about whether Jon even understood what was going on. As a nurse, Kate sure did. They ended up with 7 embryos -- one did not make it.

QUESTION: How do they discipline their kids off camera? Do they stick to timeouts or do they just ignore the hitting?

We do know that Jon and Kate spank their kids, but it is never shown on camera. However, that might explain how speedily those kids run to time out, and stay there.

Whatever they are doing, it doesn't seem to work very well. The kids still scream, push, hit, etc. Hugging and kissing your attacker doesn't seem to be working very well either.

What is unfortunate about their method of discipline is the inconsistencies. Some kids get punished, some don't. Sometimes a behavior is punished, sometimes it isn't.

Question: When you say Kate was a nurse from a two year degree, what does that mean? Did she just take blood and blood pressure, etc.? I have nurse friends who went to school for 4 years...they do not consider the "2 yr. nurses" on level with them.

ANSWER: Kate graduated from a two year "diploma" program at the Reading Hospital in PA. She did not receive an Associates degree or a Bachelor's degree. However, the diploma program qualified her to sit for the state board examination for her Registered Nurse license. Basically, very, very few, if any, hospital diploma programs exist today. You either have to pursue an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing. It is easy to understand why your friends do not consider the "diploma program" nurses to be on their level. These "diploma program" nurses do not have a degree.

Question: According to your post "Do Unto Others" Jon cared a great deal about your blog. Am I missing something perhaps a timeline of events would clarify. Maybe you were referring to a totally separate blog that we have not seen?? I know you were bloging on TWoP so maybe that's what "the fan" is talking about but I kind of doubt it because I beleive he refreneced that site as being the one shut down. Do you understand the confusion I'm having. If Jon didn't care about your blog, then why this awful post, that I feel we're lead to believe is Jon himself??

Answer: Sorry that was confusing...let me clear that up. I initially started Truth Breeds Hatred in response to the comment I received on my personal blog. I have 2 blogs. Jodi and I started blogs just about a year ago to help our extended families stay up to date with our children. That blog is about my family only, and I have never blogged about the show.

The comment left on my personal blog, was a way of intimidating me into being quiet after I closed the Facebook group. Facebook was what Jon was upset about or probably just the fact that I was speaking out. I've closed comments on Truth Breeds Hatred for this reason.

So now Jon says he doesn't care about my blog--Truth Breeds Hatred. Maybe it's because he is accepting the "deal" I proposed in one of my initial posts.

I was watching the episode about Alexis and Collin's special days today and noticed something that struck me. When Jon leaves with Collin out the side door next to the garage, there is a sign attached to the window of the door. What does it say? I cannot make it out, but perhaps someone has a better TV that they can use to zoom in on this sign. I am curious to know what THIS sign said, as this episode was filmed in February (Valentine's decorations in dining room) which is long before the neighbors noted the signs in the Gosselin's yard.

Question They spank their children? THIS IS BEING HIDDEN ON THE SHOW!!! One reason I was impressed with Kate as a Mom at the start of the shows was that she never spanked. This was before I knew all this other stuff. Has someone seen this first hand?

People on FAN sites have reported going to speaking engagements where Kate admitted to spanking the kids, but TLC refuses to show that.

The Truth Will Set You Free said...

I just wanted to clarify the Facebook group...

From above:

"Facebook was what Jon was upset about or probably just the fact that I was speaking out."

I started the Facebook group as a "fan club" for Jodi. I didn't tell anyone I was her sister, and my comments were about a couple a episodes, as a "viewer". I didn't give out any inside information. The group was only open for about 2wks. Many of the members were our personal friends, and they knew that I wasn't going to tell the group my identity.

In my final post to the group, I did tell them I was her sister. I closed the boards and then the next day, closed the group.

So when I say Jon was upset about Facebook, it wasn't really WHAT I was saying that upset him. It was the fact that I started the group for Jodi.

Thank you for the insight into the Beth situation. I understand that they will no longer film at her house, but has Beth been cut off from contact with the children as Jodi has?

I'd also like to add a note of support to Jodi (and Julie). While it is sad that the children no longer have contact with Jodi, I am convinced that as they grow older, despite whatever outrageous stories they are told by their mother, that the kids will figure out the truth. They will be able to see the reality of their parents' behavior. In this internet age, even if Jon and Kate move to a more private location, the children will be able to find the truth about their stolen childhood. Jodi and all the relatives will be needed in the future.

I'd also add that perhaps it's just as well for Jodi's own children, that they are kept at a distance from toxic relatives like Kate??

Thank you.

Question:
On one episode Kate said they attended church every week. Is this true? Also do they have a close relationship with their pastor?

They do attend church, but I'm sure it's not every week as they do have speaking engagements and Tv commitments.

No one knows if they are close to their pastor as they attend a BIG BOX Mega Church and they drive 35 miles to get to it.
People have speculated that this is to avoid Kate's fathers church and the church Jodi and Carla attend in their town and their old church in Sinking Spring, because they've used up all of those people and the new church is full of new givers.

There are three ways to obtain a nursing degree (Associates degree program, Bachelorʼs program, and a Diploma program.) All are equal and provide the exact same nursing education. A diploma program is run by a hospital. All required nursing courses and prerequisite courses are identical. Graduates from all three programs sit for the exact same national boards which is how you obtain RN status. The main difference is that the diploma program usually offers more clinical experience than the other two and the Bachelor program requires its students to take a determined amount of general courses (electives) as part of the program such as Art History, Philosophy, Economics, etc. As for employment status and pay, they are all considered RNʼs and equal.

QUESTION: One of the posters said that Jon and Kate's old church added on a room to their old house, for free. Is this true? Did they actually add square footage, not just remodel a room? Was this her father's church? If this is true, it must have greatly helped them build equity in their house to buy the new one.

Did Kate's father's church help with the kids or did she refuse their help?

I remember her explaining her estrangement from her parents by saying that her parents "didn't know how to help us" and I thought at the time that sounded so weird. Did they turn their back on Jon and Kate?

Her brother seems very easy going. Do Jodi and Kevin have a good relationship with Kevin's parents? When did she leave her father's church?

ANSWER: Kate's father's church members remodeled their first house, to be more accessible for all the kids. The "extra" room was the garage, which was made into a master bedroom.

That church also donated items of clothing and furniture (Kate rejected 6 cribs because they did not match). It also sent people to help with the babies -- until Jon and Kate decided that they didn't want them in their house.

I do not think that Kate's parents turned their backs on her -- I think it was the other way around ("they didn't know how to help"). I think she wanted money instead of "things" and "time."

As for whether Kevin and Jody see his parents, we do not know. I think they do see them occasionally. As for when Kate left her father's church, I do know that she was not married in his church. She was married in a friend's backyard. (Wonder where that friend is now....)

Ok, have any of you posters noticed that the 'tups are eons behind in their development compared to when Mady and Cara were that age (or any other child, really)? Is this because Kate makes them do babyish things and tells them not to grow up, or is it because they were premies?

Hi, here's a question for Truth/Julie: Do you know (and could you share) how Jodi's children have understood and/or reacted to the sudden absence of the Gosselin kids, since it seems they had been around each other on a regular basis? Thanks.

The Truth Will Set You Free said...

Question: This one is for Truth/Julie.

Every time there was an episode with the kidos at Jodi's house, I remember paying attention to the house itself and thinking how nice it was and that they must be pretty successful to maintain such a nice home. Then I wonder, is there jealousy/sibling rivalry between Kate and Kevin? [More so from Kate?]

Obviously, Jodi and Kevin live a nice, comfortable life without the help of a tv series. And if I remember correctly J&K had a nice home/comfortable life style before the series but not nearly as nice as her brother's. Does this add to her need to continue the gravy train? Because without it, she wouldn't be nearly as 'successful' as the rest of her family?

I sense some 'keeping up with the jones' type of attitude from Kate. Is there any kind of insite you can offer to this?

Answer: Kate has always wanted a certain "status", but neither Jon nor Kate have the desire to actually work to get there. I guess Wyomissing (where they used to live)is known to be a more wealthy area--compared to where they are now. She is constantly putting down the people around her and saying how much she hates where they are, and how much better Wyomissing is.

Everything Jodi and Kevin have is due to hard work and wise choices. I don't think there's anyone in the family that Kate is trying to keep up with. Her sights are set much higher than the average working family.

"Graduates from all three programs sit for the exact same national boards which is how you obtain RN status. As for employment status and pay, they are all considered RNʼs and equal."
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
As to that last sentence - they are not always equal. If you want to be a supervisor or a manager, you will not be able to with just a "diploma." You must have a BSN - at least here in the Chicago metro area. We really do not have any diploma grads here - the ones who were diploma grads all went to degree-completion programs later. Diploma grads can only work the floor as staff nurses. No upward career mobility at all.

AireZoe said...

As to diploma nursing programs: My sister, who is a BSN, told me last night that a BSN is considered "entry level,"
I'm going to interpret that as this: In many situations - nursing homes, certain clinics, doctor's offices where a medical assistant is needed - one doesn't need a BSN to be often called a "nurse."
You are working with nurse's aids, LPNs, or, let's be realistic, someone in a uniform with who knows what training behind them.
But in a hospital situation, a BSN is the nurse in the operating room, working directly with the surgeon, or in the triage unit.

The larger issue, I think, is the apparent lack of education for both J&K, which is demonstrated in the lack of perception, lack of stimulation at home for their children, resulting in the tups' inability to speak clearly or possess fine motor skills.
Going on "field trips" has some merit, I suppose, for the kids, but the interaction with mom and dad, reading to them every day, pointing our learning opportunities ("how many apples are in that bowl?") would be better for them than being dragged on yet another photo-opportunity.

I work in healthcare and I do KNOW at the intstitution where I work RN's with a Bacherlors recv approximatley $1.50 more per hour to start. Facilities to view RN's the same when it comes to job duties, but your higher education does get your more starting pay and will enable you to be promoted into admin positions, whereas without a BA, it won't happen.

Not that I give a rat's ass about Kate and her nursing. I can't even picture it.

The same goes for the AD program. You can only have upward mobility if you go ahead and get your BSN. Now days, you must have your Masters Degree for many of the opportunities in hospital and out. I have taught both the AD and BSN programs and they are not usually equal. The BSN program is a more stringent program. Also the students that have been accepted into a BSN program have met all the qualifications to enter a 4 year college which the AD students have not. That in itself speaks volumes.

ANSWER: There was an episode where Kate pitched a toy down the stairs in anger and muttered, "I'm tired of this sh--t.", which was bleeped out but still obvious.

Beyond that, who knows... although we do know that Jon can out-curse a sailor when he submits comments to blogs not of his liking.

QUESTION: On August 8, 2008 8:00 PM Anonymous says that the Gosselins admit spanking the kids on fansites or something like that. Which fan sites are these?

ANSWER: This one comes to mind. It says:

"They DO spank the kids, but we will never see that on television. They said they just don't think it's a good idea for anyone to show them spaking [sic] their children on national television, and TLC just doesn't want to air it either. But they do spank them, but they keep it to a minimum and of course, as we all know, use time outs as punishment most of the time."

QUESTION: I have emailed Kate a few times, with no reply, asking about recipes and items on the show (I really liked the black "Valentine's Day" bag. Now, I know by google that other people would like the same type of info. Wouls it hurt to put this info on their website, or because she does not get a "kick-back" from these items that she feels the need to keep it a secret! I honestly believe she will not release the recipes because she is plaaning a recipe book. Does anyone know, via the web, where some things from the show come from?

ANSWER: The black "Valentine's Day" bag I'm pretty sure came from the Banana Republic outlet where Kate got her wardrobe makeover. BR and Gap are in the same family of stores, along with Old Navy (not good enough for Kate I suppose) and that's where they get all the free clothes. In that same episode, you see Kate signing the credit card machine telling Jon they went over their limit. Apparently they were given a certain amount for that episode and had to make up the difference. Boy, I'd LOVE to have free BR clothes...

QUESTION: I do like the discussion on your blog, but also don't like some of the speculation that is here given your stated desire to only post facts.

You state early on that you won't post information that: "is stated to be a fact which we can't verify as fact, etc."

However, in several answers to asked questions, there is speculation as answers without facts provided.

ANSWER: The qualifiers such as "seems" or "probably" or "likely" are indicators that those statements are NOT being presented as fact. That is consistent with our stated policy.

We will publish answers as facts if we know they are facts; otherwise we will publish best guesses with qualifiers to distinguish them from known facts. Readers are free to draw their own conclusions accordingly.

QUESTION: Does anyone know the complete story of the not-adopted baby? There was talk that at one point they were going to adopt but when one became available they decided against it. Odd no? Any info would be great!

ANSWER: I hope this counts for "any info." All we know is that Kate was a labor/delivery nurse. A girl having a baby at the hospital where Kate worked offered Kate her baby. We do not know WHY she would do that.

After consideration, Jon and Kate turned the offer down. They have never fully explained the circumstances or their decision.

QUESTION: Why did Kate allow Beth to co-author their forthcoming book? Doesn't that mean that Beth will profit off of her children--something she seems to be against?

I doubt that Kate was thinking that far ahead when the book was written... she usually doesn't seem to think far ahead.

As for Beth "co-authoring" the book, I think it is highly likely that Beth was the sole "author," with some input by Kate. Kate (and Jon) do not appear to have the skills to author anything (see their web site).

P.S. If every sentence in the book is not followed by !!!!!!!!!, we will pretty much know who the author is.

QUESTION: I was wondering if Jon and Kate are at all familiar with the story of the Dionne Quintuplets. If they are, would they/could they see any similarities between their own family and the Dionne's story?

ANSWER: We have no idea whether Jon and Kate are aware of the tragic story of the Dionne quintuplets. Their actions seem to say that they aren't.

Shortly after the McCaughey septuplets were born in 1997, the three surviving Dionne Quintuplets wrote a letter to Bobbi and Kenny McCaughey, cautioning them that "multiple births should not be confused with entertainment, nor should they be an opportunity to sell products".

QUESTION: I find it interesting that out of all the helpers, friends, neighbors etc that only Jodi's sister Julie has come forth with "insider" information. Have you heard from other "insiders" but post their information without using their names?

ANSWER: Actually, we have heard from a lot of "insiders." Much of their information has panned out to be true.

For some reason, many people are afraid of the Gosselins and just "don't want to get involved." Kate can "withhold" her children and Jon can get rather mean and nasty.

There is a good reason for Julie's blog to be titled "Truth Breeds HATRED". To date, we have not published any of Jon's e-mails and comments -- not because of any legal considerations, but because we do not care to post that language on our blog.

QUESTION: Why is Carla allowed an hourly rate and not Jodi? In the Banana Republic shopping episode, Carla mentions to the camera "I believe they are going shopping for Kate. At least that is what I think I overheard," sounding very much like a hired hand who does not get more info other than when and for how long she is needed.

How does Carla feel about the Gosselins?

ANSWER: That's a very astute observation. I always had the impression that Carla was getting paid. The first time we saw her, Kate pointed out that she knew her for a very long time and she could only "help" in the summertime. (We learned from Carla's blog that she home-schools her children.) Kate has never exclaimed about how much Carla loves Kate's children. She has always looked away from the camera and gone about her business.

We have no idea how Carla feels about the Gosselins (or anyone). Perhaps Julie could answer that question.

QUESTION: Have I missed all the positive posts from J&K's neighbors, friends and family - the ones where people say how great they are. Or don't any exist?

Question: This is a question for Julie...

Did Jon and Kate ever discuss moving out of state with Jodi? I think they are moving out of state because of all the fighting with friends and family, nothing is keeping them in PA anymore. I remember a show a few months ago when they were looking at land in PA, not out of state. It is a major change.

Answer: A long time ago (probably close to a year), they were talking about building a house close to Beth.

It's been at least 6-8 months now that they have been talking about building a house in NC. J&K attended a wrap party for Season 3 back in May down at Figure 8. When they returned, Jon said that property had been purchased and all of the sponsors had committed. Everything is being provided including appliances, furnishings, TVs, etc. J&K are not paying for ANYTHING.

They have been showing their house plans to various people. Supposedly, it's going to be 8000sf with a pool and pool house. There will be an area designated for the crew including their own entrance and kitchen.

Moving out of state has nothing to do with fighting with family and friends. That has been going on as long as I have known the family. We believe that in order to get the house of their dreams, the production company has stipulated that it needs to be near them. They have no intention of ending this any time soon.

Anonymous said...

Truth: "They have no intention of ending this any time soon."

Do they really think the tups and/or the antics of this family will get that much more play? Or are they trying to evolve or branch out to other media? That time Mady said something on some morning program about wanting her own "Disney" show just sticks with me. It seemed so rehearsed and contrived. After that idiotic music video (and I use that term loosely), I just have visions of them trying to turn this into the "Traveling Gosselins" or something along the lines of the Osmonds...

Anonymous said...

Does anybody know if Kate plans on homeschooling the tups? There was an episode where she mentioned that they were going to do preschool at home, and then in another episode Kate mentions that the tups were going to attend the same preschools the twins did. I know there's been some speculation about them hiring a teacher for them, or Kate teaching them, etc. Does anybody know for sure?

Question: Julie answered that the Christmas episode was taped in advance. Do you know the reason for this?

Answer: I just assumed that the crew wanted to be with their own families for Christmas.

Sharla said...

HMMM. That is interesting. So what did they do on the 25th??? All that "tradition" of a big meal and sticky buns was it all staged???

OMG how sad they even took Christmas away from the kids!

Yes, the episode was "staged." I believe they had their regular family Christmas celebration on Christmas. The episode being just "an act" is one reason for some of the "attitude" on the twins' part. They are old enough to understand.

Question: A question for Truth. About the 800 sqft house being built in in NC, who will own the house? Will J&K or will TLC? Figure8? J&K are probably thinking about the brand new McMansion they're getting without thinking through that they're not building any equity if they don't own it. Truth can you comment on this?

Answer: No one seems to know for sure. Jon did make a comment that if they didn't like NC that they'd just sell the house and move. I find it hard to believe that TLC would just give them a house without any stipulations. I also can't imagine they would settle for just living in the mansion without owning it.

KCMomofMultiples said...

Since no one has mentioned this, I'm wondering if I only imagined hearing it. When Kate was talking about the move that would hopefully be before the little ones started kindergarten, did she follow with "IF they go" to kindergarten? (in couch interview, trip to NC)

August 12, 2008 8:46 AM

I believe I heard the same thing , she used some creative wording. I did pick up on it as well . She said "possiably starting kindergarden".

August 12, 2008 11:53 AM

My take on that is that it is not uncommon for moms to "hold back" a child (or children) from starting kindergarten (especially if they turn 5 in the spring or summer AND if they are not physically/emotionally/intellectually ready for school). My son turned 5 in July, and he was ready to start kindergarten; however, he has friends (who are a few months older) whose moms chose to wait a year. It depends on the individual child and what is best for them. It may benefit the tups to wait a year until they are 6...then again it may just benefit their money hungry parents.

If that was truly the case, it makes the point that the children ARE in fact acting, ie WORKING for purpose of producing and filming a reality show. They were 'pretending' it was Christmas, being instructed on how to act out an event that had yet to take place. Not the typical, 'just hanging out' and the cameras are rolling filming a 'day in the life of'.

QUESTION: Does anyone know if Jon and Kate spank the kids? I know I read somewhere that they do but TLC refuses (or is not allowed by J&K) to show it. The kids are so physical with each other - they are learning that somewhere. Plus, Kate seems completely not in control of her "for emphasis" smacks she bestows on Jon. I can totally see her smacking the kids too.

Question: A question for Truth or moderators please:

Would it be accurate to say that the Gosselins's annual income is at least $200,000? Not just freebies, but actual dollars deposited in their account.

I wonder if the leadership at some of these speaking engagements would be willing to ask their congregants, hit by this tough economy, to give a love offering if they actually understood the annual income of this family -- but I want to be accurate if I point it out.

Thanks.

First part is directed to Julie and/or moderators:
Does anyone know what the true state of J&K's marriage is, and whether they ever considered separation/divorce? The episodes show a progression from bickering to downright animosity toward each other. Kate fluctuates between verbally and physically (love tap, anyone?) abusive, and sickeningly sweet towards him. Jon rarely retaliates against Kate, but he is so obviously emotionless towards her. A previous comment had even mentioned Jon sleeping in the basement (has this been confirmed?). However, I've noticed that in the last few episodes they seem to be showing atypical restraint toward each other (perhaps due to sites such as this). Is this a case of putting on a happy act "for the sake of the show", or has the influx of $$$ really improved marital relations? Also, do you know, speculation aside, the source of Kate's animosity toward Jon? I'm sure that multiple kids, much less 8, would add stress to a family having modest income and little outside help. But given that they have hired help, neither Jon nor Kate has to work, and they now make a lot of money, it's just bizarre that they try to blame their discord on the "stress of having 2 sets of multiples".
A final question to everyone: has anyone ever e-mailed J&K, and gotten any response?
Thanks!!

To Truth..

First, thanks for answering everyone's questions. You and your sister deserve a spa day!

On your website, in a sentence, you say something like Jon and Kate's goal is to never work again. You use quotes around the words, but don't attribute the quote to anyone. Is this something that Jodi heard them say? When did they realize this show may possibly set them up comfortably for life - what season? Did they ever talk amounts with Jodi?

Do they normally sign up season by season? Did they ever talk about taking the show to another network if TLC did not meet their demands?

Anonymous said...

Kate and Jodi, on the show, seemed to have a warm relationship. Although, looking back, I never remember Jon and Kate doing anything for Jodi and Kevin.

Whenever Jodi helped them, Kate always said on camera, not in Jodi's presence, something like, "Jodi wanted to know how she could help...Jodi offered to watch the kids...", etc. Did Jodi really offer to help all the time or ask what she could do, or did Kate ever just assume she would or impose on her? Doesn't Jodi already have 4 kids? Did the Gs ever watch their children (afterall Jodi would watch all 12) or do anything else for them?

If I could get free clothes from GAP and my sister-in-law helped me so much, I would most certainly let her use my free GAP account. Did Kate and Jon ever share any of their perks with Kevin and Jodi, or anyone?

Anonymous said...

Julie...

On Jon's birthday episode, Kate asked Jodi to pick up the pies for dessert and pay for the resturant tab that night. She said when they got back from their vacation she would pay Jodi back. Did she ever pay her back?

I thought it was strange that Kate couldn't pay the resturant bill herself, she was sitting right there that night. Or that she just didn't give Jodi cash and Jodi could have given HER the change back. At the time, because of the way Kate was acting, I almost wondered if they had the money for it all - how naive I was.

Wait, I just thought of something. Did the show pay for the dinner?

Anonymous said...

Julie -

Was your FaceBook page, the one that was only a fan site for Jodi with no inside info listed, done before Jodi was kicked off the show?

I remember, on the show, Kate and Jon talking about Jodi's popularity among the viewers. Jon said they got tons of emails written to her and he simply deleted them. No time for them, he said. I was so offended by that, I was stunned.

Have they always been jealous, in all aspects of their relationship, of Kevin and Jodi?

*This is a direct quote. I replayed that segment several times to verify each word.

Response: As an elementary school teacher, I must offer up the possibility that J&K may wait an extra year for the 'tups to start kindergarten because of the prematurity factor and lack of readiness. It is not uncommon at all for some parents to wait an extra year for the child(ren) to turn six before starting Kindergarten, especially those with late spring/summer birthdays. I'm not trying to rule out the homeschooling possibility, but I think this may be a valid reason as well.

It's not that they WANT free Juicy Juice, it's that Juicy Juice has already provided them with the product to promote. Of course, the first time Kate brought a tray of it out to the kids a'la June Cleaver, I loved Joels response - "Whats daaaat?" He'd never seen that crap before, obviously. The ones NOT blurred out are the sponsor freebies. Did you see Kate almost break her wrist as she was sitting the J&J hair detangler on the counter to get just the right camera shot of the label, sniffing the kids head, "It smells so good!"...? Reminded me of "Its SHAKE and BAKE and IIIIII helped." So fake.

You'll also see J&J products sitting on the tub ledge when they're displaying their kids nudity for all to see. Product placement has no boundaries as long as Kate's cabinets are stocked.

The labels of items that are blurred out are from companies that have NOT ponied up to the Gosselins.

On which episode does Aunt Jodi say something like "I asked this year if I could watch the tups every morning, feed them, then send them back to Kate's house when it's nap time"?
----------------------------------

The episoe was "Potty Training the Boys". Kate dropped the kids at Jodi's house on Friday morning because she was taking Leah and Collin to the eye doctor. But she explained that Jodi watched all of the sextuplets on most Friday mornings.

Re: iluveeyore 8/8/08 Jon being very close to his Grandmother:

My sister-in-law is Korean and I have a new nephew. She says it's very common in the Korean culture for the maternal grandmother to do most of the childcare for at least the first year. My nephew has been cared for almost exclusively by his maternal grandmother for the last 6 months. Thus it may not be so odd for Jon to have bonded with his grandmother. To have his mother and Kate's mother out of the loop with his kids is the odd part.

OK, who from TLC is reading this blog? I just noticed they are giving us a little Duggar action in the middle of the J&K marathon tonight!

Can someone give me a specific example of time a show was edited, and what was taken out?

Mady shows a hand drawn picture of Jon, Kate, Cara and Mady without the sextuplets. This scene was taken out the second time I saw the episode. I think it was a Christmas episode.

The episode where the family travels to see Oprah shows scenes of the older girls getting a hair cut/trim at the hair dresser which was not there the first time I viewed the episode.

Towards the beginning of Girls Day Out, they took out Kate and Jon yelling back and forth after he stood with his arms crossed when the kids where waiting for breakfast. It also did not show Collin being put in a timeout for being confused about getting into the van the girls where in. And the episode no longer shows the scene of Jon getting the straws for his sons at the gym or cleaning the smoothie off of the seat belt/shirt. I noticed this on my second viewing of the episode.

These are some of the things I have noticed. Depending on which version TLC airs it would be hard to confirm or deny this. In other words, I could be wrong and I apologize if I am, take these examples with a grain of salt.

I noticed on the episode where the family goes to Sesame Place, Kate had on two shirts (one in the interview segment and one at the park) that I believe I also have. One came from the Gap and the other from Banana Republic outlet...very likely considering we know they "shop" there.

The interviews are not conducted on the same day (or days) as the show is filmed.

QUESTION: Was it Jon's idea to quit his job or Kate's?

ANSWER: I suspect it was a mutual decision.

In one episode, Kate whines to Jon: "I wish you could spend more time with us," obviously with no consideration that the man is going out every day to support his family.

Eventually, one of both of them realized that the TV show was bringing in mucho dinero. Much more than Jon was earning.

Kate requested, Jon happily agreed. Jon has had many jobs and seems to have had a problem holding on to them. He readily admits that he had no ambition or any particular career plans.

I think he is now going along with the madness of continuing the show and Kate's requests because he has no desire to go back to any kind of 9 to 5 job.

QUESTION: To Truth..

ANSWER: Yes, J&K have said that. They put their plan to work before the sextuplets were even born. This all didn't just come to them. Kate worked night and day dealing and making demands. It's unbelievable that she is getting everything on her "wish list", and is willing to use any means possible to get what she wants. Yes, they have talked amounts, although not for the new contract (Season 4). It was signed the end of April.

Yes, they have been going season by season. Yes, Kate said she'd drop TLC in a heartbeat. She has many other ideas, and is planning to stay in TV (or her kids will)in one way or another as long as possible.

Knowing what you know, I completely understand why you are sharing what you can with us and I don't doubt that the real story is probably far worse than what you are probably allowed to say. Thank you for what you do share.

I have a question: Did TLC approach the Gosselins as Kate likes to say or was it really the other way around?

"Did TLC approach the Gosselins as Kate likes to say or was it really the other way around?"
IMO, like everything in Kate's world, SHE had a plan set the plan in motion , and sold her 'plan'(children) to the highest bidder ie TLC.

Truth
It would be nice if Jodi could tell her story to a magazine. People have to know the complete truth about these clowns. They are running a modern day scam. Their victims are their children and the poor people that they are taking money from. I dont understand why Jodi is waiting to come forward with the full truth. These children are the ones who are bearing the brunt of Kates actions. TLC wont listen to pubilc out crys to cancel the show. Maybe they would listen if they knew that the averaged minded American audience is in on the joke. Only difference is we are not laughing!

Anonymous said...

You would think that Kates management group would encourage her to clean up her image a little bit. She should try to at least not pretend that she is a nice person. Especially when it comes to something as simpe as signing autographs. The first rule of thumb to remain in the pubilic eyes. That you are nothing without your fans. Your show will not last, if people do not like you. This show will not last much longer. I hope that Jodi will speak out. She holds the key to getting this show cancelled and getting these children out of the spotlight. Yes the show provides the children with material items, more than what any one child could ask for. But they are paying for it with their dignity.
Did anyone else notice that the children were chewing gum this last episode? Things that make you go hmmmm.... 3 y/o do not chew gum but 4 y/o sure do.

I wasn't sure where to post this. Figure 8's site has a longer list of upcoming episodes than TLC. (but no descriptions)
http://figure8films.tv/times/

Sept. 1: Kate's Labor Day, 9-10 pm
Sept. 8: Backyard Campout, 9-10 pm
Sept. 15: Sight & Sound, 9-10 pm
Sept. 22: Viewer FAQ, 9-10 pm
Oct. 6: Good Housekeeping Photo Shoot, 9-10 pm

That brings the episode total since January to 49.

Question: Julie -

Was your FaceBook page, the one that was only a fan site for Jodi with no inside info listed, done before Jodi was kicked off the show?

I remember, on the show, Kate and Jon talking about Jodi's popularity among the viewers. Jon said they got tons of emails written to her and he simply deleted them. No time for them, he said. I was so offended by that, I was stunned.

Have they always been jealous, in all aspects of their relationship, of Kevin and Jodi?

Answer: Jodi already knew that she would no longer be on the show when I started the Facebook group. There were several episodes that hadn't been aired yet, but she knew she was out for Season 4.

I don't really understand the relationship that Jodi and Kevin had with J&K. It was nothing like what my husband and I have with them.

Question:

Truth: "They have no intention of ending this any time soon."

Do they really think the tups and/or the antics of this family will get that much more play? Or are they trying to evolve or branch out to other media? That time Mady said something on some morning program about wanting her own "Disney" show just sticks with me. It seemed so rehearsed and contrived. After that idiotic music video (and I use that term loosely), I just have visions of them trying to turn this into the "Traveling Gosselins" or something along the lines of the Osmonds...

Answer: They will do anything to stay on TV and continue their new lifestyle. Once the reality show is over, they'll just move on to the next thing.

I have never heard Jon mention a stone mansion. I have heard him say that they were married in a friend's backyard...

In Webisode 30 on Youtube, Jon says, "...married at a friend's house, beautiful 1920's stone mansion...".

Anonymous @ 12:46, in the same webisode, there's a home video clip of Jon and Kate at a function dated Nov. '98 in which he refers to Kate as his "beautiful fiance". The very next clip is dated Dec. '98, Christmas, when she gets her ring. I think Jon popped the question before he popped for the ring.

I even read an article with Figure8 that Season 3 was only supposed to have like, 30 episodes, which would have had it ending with, I think, Jon & Kate's Special Day. Any idea about what's going on?

A few questions about Kate's parents. 1. What religion was her father's church? 2. Was her father the pastor or an assistant? 3. Was his primary income from the rv park or the church?

Can someone give me a specific example of time a show was edited, and what was taken out?

I can give an example of a time a show was edited and something was "added in." In the episode where Jon cooks Korean, Kate makes Aaden go to his room because he won't stop crying after Jon leaves. Right as he is running up the stairs you can hear Kate's voice saying "what a wreck!" which makes the viewer think she was talking about Aaden. But if you take a closer look, you can tell that she isn't even speaking at that moment. Someone decided to put that audio in to add a little drama. I'm not one to defend Kate, but that phrase (while it was definitely Kate's voice) could have been taken out of context.

This question will probably need to be answered by Julie or someone that really "knows" the G's. Before the chef did Kate really cook good healthy meals everyday? I felt bad about the frozen foods (chicken nuggets, pizza, spaghetti and MB's etc) I fed my kids for lunch each day and the cereal for breakfast after seeing her feed good food. it actually made me feel lazy to see her feeding her 8 kids healthy foods while I couldn't do it with my 4. Any insights on their meals before the chef?

Is there anything Jon/Kate pay for on their own? From what I've seen, TLC/sponsors pay for:

--food for entire family (via personal organic chef)
--trips/days out + expenses
--all clothes/shoes for kids and at least some outfits for J/K (via Banana Republic?)
--toys (Toys'R'Us shopping spree?)
--electricity (b/c of installed lighting)
--cosmetic procedures for J/K (tummy tuck, hair plugs, teeth whitening)
--personal assistant/babysitter
--lawn care/gardener

So what does that leave? Gas? Mortgage on their current house?

Question: Kate and Jodi, on the show, seemed to have a warm relationship.

Answer: Jodi did offer to help, and Kate did take advantage. At one point, Kate had someone lined up every day of the week to either take the kids or come to their house. All she would do is put them down for the 3 hr nap. That's why I was outraged when I heard her on Ellen say she only had 15 hrs of help/week.

The volunteers were there for the kids. Not to help Kate.

Jodi won't even let her kids watch the show, so there's no way she would leave them with Kate in "real" life. I'll say this again, we aren't seeing the worst of Kate's behavior all edited together. Things are much worse than we see on TV.

Kate would never share her perks. There were actually times when the show was paying for something that Jodi and/or Kevin were involved with, and Kate would try to make them pay for it themselves. She's unbelievable!! I really try hard to keep the emotions out of my posts, but it all just makes me so sick! I have only scratched the surface of what has been going on. Jodi and Kevin are the most decent, kind, giving people and to know the way they have been treat (by family) just breaks my heart!

IIRC, this is the episode in which Jon talked about all of the tension in the house and implying it was coming from Kate. Kate wanted to switch roles for a day. She'd be Jon, and he could be Kate. Kate told Jon the time she was leaving and the time she would return. She then said, 'Unlike you, I keep my word.' (I thought that was an interesting comment.) Jon roughly grabbed Collin and sent him to time out. Collin sobbed and kept saying, 'Look what my daddy did.'

Was the breakfast exchange, especially the 'Unlike you' comment completely axed?

Is it safe to say that the episodes we see on TV are not in sequence? For example, it clearly is not Labor Day yet. However, there is already an episoded listed for Kate's Labor Day. And in some episodes back the kids had plastic American Flags in the car...one would assume it was close to the 4th of July when that footage was shot...but weeks later they are just now putting the 4th of July celebrations episode on?

Liz said...

Julie you should not feel bad about defending your sister. Of course, you will have emotions involved when someone treats a person you love badly. The sad part is Kate doesn't care about treating her family badly.I personally have no problem with them getting some perks but you can't give clothes that you get for free to someone who may need it when you are done with them. That bothers me. What also bothers me is she never seems satisfied. A person like that will never be happy. For example: Kate gets a free tummy tuch she wants a boob job, Bringing the kids to a talent agent, .... The life she wants will require making a certain amount of money for her life when the show ends the money and many of the perks will end. Then after alienating so many people they will be alone. Its like the old saying be nice to all the people you meet climbing up the ladder of sucess because they are the same people you meet on the way down.

I think it's infuriating that TLC people read this board and other boards and make changes on old episodes that have already aired. They can change everything that way and all of out evidence can go away!

"QUESTION: When KON was in NC, they said they were combining the vacation with a speaking engagement. Do we know where specifically the speaking engagement was and when exactly?"

I may be wrong, but I think it was a speaking engagement at a church in Goldsboro, NC a few weeks ago. I noticed this on the speaking schedule because I'm from NC and was mad they were going to be here the one weekend I was in Virginia. So basically, about a month ago they did have a speaking engagement in Goldsboro.

Answer: The speaking engagement was July 11 and 12. They left for their vacation the weekend of June 28-29 and were gone for 2 weeks.

Did anyone else notice that in the Memorial Day episode one of the children made Kate her Mothers Day card? Mothers Day was a good three weeks before Memorial Day weekend so I felt like that whole episode was a sham. The activities weren't holiday specific so why wasn't it just billed as a fun Sunday? Anybody know?

Answer: In this case it appeared that TLC wanted to air a Memorial Day episode approximately on Memorial Day. The nature of episodic production being what it is that means filming must occur about three to four weeks earlier to allow for post production. For a holiday like that where the tups are really too young to appreciate or recognize the holiday, there doesn't seem to be much harm.

Other "events" have been filmed at other than the actual time also. Perhaps it is a sham to put on a "Christmas" episode that is just staged for TV so in that sense, this was indeed more of the same.

QUESTION: Was the 'Girls Day Out' episode originally 1 hour long? The version TLC aired today was only 30 minutes. I noticed that a substantial amount of this episode was missing, (as mentioned by previous posters).

Answer: Yes. I have the original show on DVR and it was 1 hour, including the world premier of their family music video (haha). So, a lot was cut to make it a half hour.

QUESTION: On a cafemom page, someone said the name of the friends where they got married was Vic & Dina. I've never seen them on the show. Anyone know about Vic & Dina?

ANSWER: Thank you for reminding me of the names of their friends. I don't remember Vic and Dina as being the friends where they got married. However, Vic and Dina were the names of their friends who were storing their living room furniture when they lived in their old house. They moved all their living room furniture out so the kids would have another room to play in. Strangely, we have never seen Vic and Dina and have never heard them referred to again.

QUESTION: Where is the house that they rented in NC? Do you know how much they paid for it? I mean do you know how much TLC/Figure 8 paid for it?

ANSWER: The house is on the Outer Banks (OBX), in the town of Corolla. The price depends on many variables, some of which we are not privy to (number of beds, number of bathrooms, distance from beach, etc.) From my personal experience, I suspect that the house cost anywhere from $3,500 to $5,000 a week. They were there for 2 weeks.

That price does not include food, gas, and activities. For example, the cost for the 4-wheel drive vehicles for tracking the horses was about $165/vehicle. I know there is also a charge to climb up the Currituck lighthouse. I'm sure there will be more costs in next week's episode.

QUESTION: have been reading for quite some time about the supposed move to NC, etc. What troubles me is the ‘Looking For Property’ episode has been removed or switched, and on my DVR schedule there are random empty times for the show with no description.

ANSWER: The "Looking for Property" episode seems to have been absorbed by the "Heading South" episode, in which they look for property in central Virginia.

Question: Did Jon get rid of his personal facebook page? He went under Jonathon. When I checked a few weeks back, his "friends" were all young 20's, beautiful, long haired blonds! I bet Kate put an end to that! LOL

Answer: Right around the time that the NE article came out, they had a very busy week of damage control. The response on their website was removed, signs in their yard were removed, and Jon's Facebook profile disappeared.

Question:
Since the kids clothes are donated from Gap/Gymboree, and EmTanner, and we know that Kate gets free stuff from SoCoolMom and the promomcoture line, who else donates her clothes, because it seems to me that she has a new "look" lately, skirts on the beach in NC, Cute yellow tops in the couch segments...gone are the days of the SoCoolMom tees and sweats with flip flops.
Any ideas? Cause I have a hard time believing she PAID for anything!!!!!

Answer: I know J&K get an allowance from Gap/Banana Republic. They get a certain amount for free in exchange for wearing it on the show. I also know that Kate loves The Loft. I've recognized some of the things she has worn. One time she went shopping with Jodi and was telling her how wonderful it is not to even have to look at the price tags anymore. Now I know that there have been times where she has been given credit cards to use for shopping (from F8/TLC), so that could be what she meant.

I also doubt that she is paying for any of it herself.

Question:

Answer: I couldn't remember the specifics of this show, so I just rewatched that part (it was a rerun, so it could have been edited differently). It was actually the party decorations and the pies that Kate asked Jodi to pay for. Of course, the dinner was all paid for by the show.

I asked Jodi if Kate paid her back and she just laughed. I don't know the story behind what actually happened.

Why is a person hospitalized for overstimulated ovaries? is it dangerous to her health, or to prevent her from having sex?

-------------

I can answer this. I was hospitalized for overstimulated ovaries when I was pregnant with my twins. We had just finished a round of IVF treatments.

When you take fertility medications, they stimulate your ovaries to produce as many eggs as you can during a cycle. Most of the time, things go fine, they harvest your eggs (at least, they do in IVF, I don't think they do that with IUI, which is what the Gosselins did) and that's a complete cycle.

I believe with IUI they stimulate your ovaries, and you ovulate on your own, then they fertilze the eggs inutero.

Anyway, sometimes the meds can hyperstimulate your ovaries, causing them to bloat to the size of grapefruits. You also retain fluid in your abdomen.

I was hospitalized for a week. It was very painful, and they had to manage my medication and treatment while I was admitted. I know in some cases they even have to drain the fluid because it can be so painful. I retained over 2 liters of extra fluid just in my abdomen.

Anyway, I hope that answers your question. I don't know if Kate was pregnant when she hyperovulated, or what. I know I was already pregnant with twins, but IVF and IUI are very different procedures.

Hyperstimulation can be life-threatening depending on the serverity of it.

I do know several people from some infertility boards I hung out on who needed hospitalization for it. All of them had their cycles cancelled.
