My dad saw Jon and Kate and family and film crew at the Maui airport on Friday. They were the last to get off the plane and were escorted by security. He said the whole group was moving very quickly. Two of the sextuplets were crying but everyone continued to walk very fast. I asked if the kids were being pulled along by the adults and he said nobody was holding any of the kids hands. He also recognized Jon right away and said his hair looks terrible. But he did say the kids were really cute!

QUESTION: I was just wondering how you are going to determine if they are credible or not?

ANSWER: If a report contradicts something we know as fact, we won't publish it. Otherwise we will let each reader consider the source and view the report accordingly.

About 3 years ago, my partner and I saw Jon and Kate with all the kids at the Lehigh Valley Mall in PA about a half hour from Reading. At the time we had no idea who they were, but the sight of 6 babies and 2 little kids was something not easy to forget. They were just acting like a normal family with 2 carraiges and the girls walking beside them. Not very interesting, I know, but a glimpse of them way before they became the 'stars' that they are today. Funny thing is, it was directly in front of The Gap. Go figure.

The daughter of my sister's co-worker spotted Kate and the kids at the Gymboree store in the Berkshire Mall in Reading, Pennsylvania (although she did not think that all of the tups were with her or if they were did not see all of them). This was during a weekday when the mall is practically empty. After Kate left with numerous bags, the clerk asked the co-worker's daughter if she knew who they were and she replied, yes, she's seen the show. To which the clerk replied, that Kate comes to the store often to pick up her free clothes and that apparently the only store she receives them free from is the Reading store.

I saw Kon at a Sunoco station in the Greenfield Industrial park in Lancaster, PA on June 17th around lunchtime. I couldn't tell for sure if the kids were in the Sprinter, but it appeared that they were not. Jon pumped the gas while Kate sat in the passenger seat with her bare feet propped up on the dash. I admitedly was a sheeple back then and I sent them an email when I got back to work. My email was returned due to a full inbox on the receiving end. Since then I have started to see the truth about the show and the family.

I don't know if this is too OT. I work at a health food store in PA and Natural Acres just dropped off some free samples today. (This is where J&K went to get the half cow and tour the farm). We didn't get any of Kate's organic macaroons, but there are some yummy pecan rolls. Anyway, I mentioned that I saw them on Jon & Kate plus 8. The lady (I think this must be the wife of the man that was taking J&K around b/c she did mention that she lives on the premises)said that their business has really taken off since being on the show. She said people from all over the country are asking for half a cow. I didn't really get to ask anything about J&K because the lady was only here for a minute. But, it looks like we will be doing business with them from now on, so maybe I'll get a chance. Anyway, it seems like the "publicity" from being on J&K has really helped this business.

A Diva Jon Gosselin?

Twin bill
Jon Gosselin (inset) must think he's Brad Pitt, given his major diva act at the Park Plaza Hotel yesterday. But the only thing these dads have in common is a whole lot of kids. The star of TLC's popular "Jon and Kate Plus 8," a look into the daily life of a young couple who had twins, followed by sextuplets, refused to sit for a photo because of some supposedly very restrictive deal with his cable network. (He did, however, let us snap him in the hall.) That said, he was pretty funny during his keynote speech in front of 500 women at the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, in which he answered the burning questions he and his wife, Kate, are most often asked. He also called her tummy tuck "cheating" and quipped: "She'll never leave me and I'll never leave her, because I'll be the poorest man you know."

I know we allow great latitude sometimes in discussions under various posts. However, discussion here wandered far, far away from the original intent. We received complaints and it has been pruned. Please try to find or request an appropriate thread/post for discussions of episodes, your views on Jon and Kate, and opinions about various other things or aspects of the show. Thank you very much.

Last December, shortly before Christmas, myself and a friend saw Jon at the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia...he was alone, no kids, no Kate, no crew (that I saw around anyway). I thought it was weird to see him out alone and so far from home because the way Kate makes it seem, she can't function for one moment without his help! Anyway, he was kind enough to pose for a picture on my friend's camera phone.

Would the person who wrote this PLEASE write a summary of what happened. Many of us are DYING to know what they could possibly say that's worth the $25,000 fee.

Anonymous said...
I attended a function they were scheduled to speak at. I was told they paid a very LARGE sum and yet Kate was "demanding" and insisted on more freebies, beyond the airfare, accommodations, meals, etc. that were already being paid for by the organization. I was told this by one of the women who was involved with the arranging and knew first hand. Also, J mentioned, when referring to the fact they get free vacations, etc. "well, we ARE the number one rated show on TLC". Yuck. I got there loving them and left hating them. nuff said.

Question and answer forum. Basic crap they say on the show. Bonus: Kate now wants to ADOPT (hmmm) and the twins are on full scholarship to a private school. Then the college fund crap and $20 for a picture w/ autograph. NO WAY near a 25,000 lecture. only 35 minutes long.

K.C. said...

Anon, Thanks for the summary. One last thing...Did they try to give the audience the impression that money is still tight for them?

luvmytwins said...

Actually, not really. J talked about how he was unemployed when the tups were born, and how God provide for them, etc. Only at the end was he talking about how college tuition was going to be such a huge undertaking with six, don't know how we are going to swing it, rumors about a college fund but they are untrue, etc. then proceeded to pimp out the $20 autographed pictures. Honestly, just hearing how Kate was trying to get MORE free swag on top of all the dough this organization pumped into their appearance made sick. Then to have J charge $20 for the "college fund" let a HUGE bad taste in my mouth. Yuck, yuck. I mean, i left and said to my husband, these people did not cure cancer, they had kids!!! Big freaking deal!!! What a sense of entitlement. I was mad I spent so much to see them and dragged my poor hubby with me. I ACTUALLY thought about sending them Xmas gift due to last years Christmas show (Kate talking about how hard it is to stretch a dollar for 8 kids at holiday). Gosh i feel dumb and duped.

We were on the same flight leaving Maui as Jon and Kate plus 8. Let me just say that everyone who saw this group coming was praying they were not on our flight--well they were. Four airport police were keeping people away from them because they are "celebrities." Well, if the airport police wasn't there I would have never wondered what was going on. Kate was reading a magazine while here children were being loud and acting very spoiled. Oh, I do have kids and mine never acted that way. The kids were fighting and Kate nor Jon bothered to step in to keep them quiet and respectful of all the other people there. Kate was reading a book and didn't see Jon. Let's just say that enough is enough of Jon and Kate plus 8 and we as a society need to stop watching them. They, Jon and Kate, need to have some parenting lessons also. First and foremost children should be taught to be respectful and not focused only on themseleves--but I guess they learn from their parents.

While in Maui, we stumbled upon reality TV stars Jon and Kate from the Jon & Kate Plus 8 TV show on TLC. They were shopping at a mall at the same time we were, and we walked into the same store. The backdrop to the story is that my two little girls love to watch the show. They like seeing all of the kids running around and playing.

So needless to say, they both recognized and were enamored with John and Kate and wanted to say hi. My 3 year old was brave enough to at least walk up to Jon and stand there silently while I explained to him that she watches and loves the show, and Jon was kind enough to say hello and wave to her. My 2 year old is 15 feet away from Kate shouting "Kate, Kate, Kate" as loud as she can and excited as can be. So what does Kate do? She ignored her. She snubbed the poor thing like she wasn't even there. What a shame. I was surprised and disappointed.

Their "handler" came up to us afterward and gave us a photo of the family. Gee, thanks.

funny, recently we were together with Jon and Kate and others. Kate was very friendly. It was Jon who was more "cold" towards us. He didn't speak to anyone. This wasn't a publicity thing or during filming. We were at an "event" that had nothing to do with them or the fact that they are "celebrities".

I could see how you may have gotten different behavior from Kate at a social event. Perhaps, being at the same function, she saw you as more of an equal, as opposed to being approached by a lowly member of the general public who has the gall to try to speak to her.

I ran into Kate once at our local grocery store months ago. I was excited to see her van pulling in next to my car. I smiled and told her how much my husband and I loved her show and she whispered "thanks" and before I could blink..she ran into the store. I felt terrible because I thought maybe she has sleeping kids in the van or something...but I now realize that she doesn;t have time to talk with "locals" I also think its amazing that I have never seen her take any of her children to the library or to any playground in our town. I guess she doesn;t want her little cash cows fraternizing with unfamous kids

babyaby said...

to clarify my original post. I saw her in the parking lot of our local grocery store, well over a year ago, before the series even started, right after the two "specials" so she wasn;t exactly a "celebrity" at that point. Plus she lives in my town, which is a small town, as everyone knows. She pulled the van next to my car in the parking lot. I didn't pursue her. And, if you're going to choose to be on television and you want people to like and indentify with you, then I think its your responsibilty to be, at least, cordial, to fans. Secondly, her children were not with her at the time. I was trying to make the point that they refuse to give their children any kind of a normal life playing with other children doing normal activities in the community without a TV camera following them around

babyaby said...

Again, I never saw or spoke to her children, just her, alone, at our neighborhood supermarket...however, to the poster who doesn;t like strangers talking to her children, I am sure you also would not choose to exploit them on television.

Anon- It is true that I am not at the library or park 24/7. I am a sahm and belong to some groups with other sahm's and the gosselins come up in coversation occasionally and no one has ever spotted them doing any kind of "kid focused" activity in the community. We live in a small town and many sahm's get to know each other from being at the library, parks, etc. We moved here about the same time the Gosselins did and after watching their first two specials we were huge fans and when i found out they lived in our town I was so excited about it (before the actual series began). I remember feeling so badly for Kate thinking that someone should reach out to her and let her know of many free activities she could take advantage of with her kids in the community. After I ran into her in the super market parking lot (again, before the series began) I realized how cold and apparently disinterested she was in being polite to anyone she comes in contact with.

lastly, it is entirely possible that she does take her kids to the park or library, just probably times that the library is closed to the rest of the public or the park is roped off for them.

My partner and our friend saw the Gosselin children in Central Park in NYC this past June. J&K were not there and there was a man and two women with the kids. They went to the playground and played for awhile and had an absolute blast.

I go to Millersville, which is about 15 minutes from E-town and the Gosselins. I have seen them a couple of times, and every time I like them less and less. I work at the GAP and they have a deal with GAP brand (they wear their clothes on the show and then get free clothes and GAP and Banana Republic.) Anyway, I rang Jon up at GAP and he was anything but friendly. I said " I love your show" and he didn't even look up, just mumbled "thanks" and left. Then, I saw J and K in banana outlet store one night and they acted as if everyone in the store besides them was invisible. And I was told that they complained that there were "too many people in the store watching them." They're horrible.

This was posted on a Gymboree message board that I'm on...

So I walked in and I saw a lady at the counter that looked like her (Kate) and when she walked away to look at other stuff I asked the Sales Associate if it was her and she said yes. She was in front of me "checking out" (not paying just make sure everything on her list she sent them was there). She had the purple fairy costume and I commented how cute it was and if I could I'd dress my son in it. I never acted like I knew who she was. She talked to me briefly and then said good luck w/ my next one. The SA said that it was good I didnt acknowledge her as someone from TV because the day before she was at the other mall in my area and someone made a fuss over her and she asked the SA if they sell disguises. She left with 3 HUGE stuffed bags.

Recently attended a speaking engagement on September 14th, hosted by Cornerstone Christian Church in Abington, PA. Due to the overwhelming response, they rented out the Keswick Theatre to accomodate everyone. The audience was not allowed to ask Jon & Kate questions. I can ask that since you never know what will come out of some peoples mouth! The Pastor conducted the interview which was extremely BORING!!! Kate looked annoyed as if she couldnt be bothered. She was her usual nasty self to Jon who just sat there. They just talked about their faith in God. The "love offering" basket went around to help the Gosselins. You would think that would have been enough. When it came to autograph time, we stood in line for 30 minutes only to find out the autographed photos was $20.00!! What was the love offering for?? We left with a photo. Not impressed. Would never waste my time seeing them again.

I saw Jon and Kate at Cornerstone Christian Church on September 14th. I thought their interview was interesting and I learned a lot about them that you don't see on the show. They were funny and kind. Most surprising to me was that they really showed how much they love each other and their family and how committed they are to each other. They are very religious and made many people revisit their faith. The $20 photo/autograph was optional. You could meet them either way. They were very nice and complimentary to my twins. They are a great family. I would go again and again.

I saw Jon and Kate back in February at their Ohio speaking engagement. They were the same then as the blogger described who just saw them on September 14th. Unfortunately, TLC does not show hardly anything of their faith and practices and TV, they even commented on that at the speaking engagement.
I agree that their "talk" did have people revisting their faith, at least it did for both my husband and I. We also talked with several people afterwards who felt the same way.

They were very inspirational, very kind, very funny and very sincere.

I saw the Gosselins on September 14 as well and was completely disgusted with them when I left. They had 2 love offerings (one for the Church to help pay for the event, and one that went all to the Gosselins). All of these fairly large buckets were being filled by 10s and 20s. There were also the $20 photos. Jon and Kate did not even seem happy to be there and, as usual, they bickered and Kate belittled Jon every chance she got. She even told him to stop rambling, but Kate rambled so much I was zoning out! Kate also told a story about how a terminally ill mother of two's dying wish was to meet Kate Gosselin. From what I gathered from the story, though I may be wrong about this, Kate called her on the phone one day and they spoke for about an hour. She made it seem like she was doing the woman a big favor! She also said that she personally led the woman to Jesus, which I think might be pushing it a little. Kate also called the show "the family job". The whole thing was a complete scam, and their every answer catered to a specific audience. There were a few other things but those were the main things that stuck out in my mind.

Here's a comment from the St. Louis Today article that I found to be very funny:

Perhaps Kate Gosselin and Jessica Seinfeld should be best friends.
— Missy Chase Lapine

The commenter pointed out that many of Kate's so-called lunch recipes were basically ripped off boxes. Jessica Seinfeld is the one who wrote a cookbook on hiding vegetables in food. another woman claimed to have had the idea first.

Kate will stop at nothing to brand the Gosselin name...even purloining recipes!

My sister-in-law called me this morning--Saturday, Sept.20th-- (I'm an Etown local and she knows I read this site regularly) to tell me that at a chuch in Lancaster (off the Centerville Road of rte. 30), the Gosselins (including all of the kids, camera crew and production staff)were having a giant "yard sale." She said a friend of hers went and was able to get some great buys and everything was in excellent condition (probably due to Kate's "OCD" or rather their staff). Do you think the proceeds went to a worthy cause or the much needed "college funds"? Weren't they supposed to be donating gently used items to others in need?!?

Jon and Kate had a garage sale today at a local church, to benefit the pediatric cancer research foundation. Jon, Kate and all of the kids were there. Kate's makeup appeared to have been spackled on. She was very nice to our family as we shopped through the garage sale. There was a camera man filming the antics of the sextuplets while they came in and out of the church whose parking lot they were using for the garage sale (I assume they used a church parking lot so that people wouldn't come to their house and know where they live. They only live about a mile from me, but the church where they held the sale was 20 minutes away, and not the church they usually attend.). They sold a great deal of stuff, including alot of clothing from Gap and Gymboree, and the famous potties from the potty training episodes. I was a little disturbed that they were "selling" photos with the family in exchange for donations for the cancer foundation. I thought it was a noble cause, but it was hot today and the sextuplets didn't look very happy; I imagine they don't care much about raising money for the foundation, and didn't look thrilled to be forced to pose for photos with fan/donors. Kate was very nice to my husband and talked to him for about thirty minutes, because we have a big family too. We overheard her barking at Jon about some sort of password that one of the crew members needed-- she was saying, "JON. JON. IS it case sensitive or NOT? Can we just put the WORD in, or do we use CAPS?" My kids are fans of the show and bought a bunch of toys that used to belong to the twins.

I'm not sure where to post this but I think it's in these comments I read that they had gotten a dog. I want to know where that dog came from as PA has some of the most horrific puppy mills in our country. Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't bother or care to find out where the puppy was bred because it's propably free.

notakatelover said...

Kate doesn't care where the puppy came from. As long as the puppy stays young and cute, she'll love it. Wait until it grows up and loses it's cuteness. How much you want to bet that the dog is female?????

I was in Jon and Kate's neighborhood earlier this week (a good friend of mine lives nearby) and as I drove past their house, Jenny was standing near a car that was parked in the street. She was wearing her uniform (short shorts!) and a few of the kids were playing in the driveway. The car she was standing near looked like Beth's (it was a silver/black sports car). Jon was sitting on the swing set in the back yard talking on the phone and Kate was nowhere to be seen. Things seemed pretty boring, but it was, in fact, a sighting!

It was not Beth, rest assured.

I have read, and the show did acknowledge in the credits, that the Friday episodes of Live Regis and Kelly are pre recorded. However, this was at a time when Regis was taking Friday's off. I have no idea if tomorrow's episode will air 'live' or was previously recorded for an Oct. 3rd air date. If it was pre recorded, months ago, that could explain why the twins were not in school?
