It could be, perhaps, that her shoes are too tight...

The Grinch hated Christmas, the whole Christmas season.
Please don't ask why, no one quite knows the reason.

It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight...

I think we need to finish ranting about Cupcake-gate before I can even think about the friggin' shoe nonsense!! My guess: donations were made and so those shoes had to have been worn. Same as all the ravings about the yellow shirts and dresses; some company ponied up outfits and you’ve got to keep the suppliers happy to keep the love clothes donations coming in. (i.e., “ I love them in yellow. That’s my new favorite outfit on them. I think I will dress them in those outfits every day. You will wear those shoes, even though they do not fit. Stop being stupid.”

I've been doing a lot of research since I watched the episode where Jon got his free hairplugs. Something wasn't sitting right with me.

Anyway, last night, the whole episode broke my heart. Not letting the boys have their cupcakes? Come on. It's their birthday! And then they let them sit there and watch their sisters eat theirs? Nice.

I am totally convinced that J&K read this blog, or things like it. They seem to be self-censoring themselves a lot more. Moreso Kate than Jon. There is nothing spontaneous about what she says anymore. It's like she's thinking of what to say before she says it, most of the time. It's all very strained.

Just seeing the longing in those kids eyes that maybe they could just this one time, just maybe, cut loose and have some fun, eat some sugar, get a little messy, it broke my heart. She tries to control them down to the minute detail, and lets them all know how she totally mistrusts them, at every turn.

They showed an episode after that with Jodi in it. It was amazing the difference in the children when they were at her house.

OK, I'm new here, but last night was the straw that broke my back. Let those babies eat those cupcakes!!!
It was cruel to let the girls eat those cupcakes in front of the boys. It's their birthday for goodness sake!
If I owned that bakery shop, I would've got them dirty on purpose. :)

One more thing that *really* bothered me, when she left the kids outside, playing, and commented that since they were crying they "must not be dead" or something to that effect.

Like others have said here, it would be relatively easy to find their house, IMO. Not to be overly concerned that your brood is playing outside unsupervised strikes me as extremely dangerous and frightening.

This was perhaps the saddest episode I have ever seen. From Jon referencing the past few years of his life in terms of "seasons" to Kate demanding that the bakery make decorating cupcakes mess free to making the twins wear shoes that didn't fit (instead of simply letting them change shoes because 1) they may not match the pink dresses exactly or 2)J&K wouldn’t get their product placements in), J&K have really demonstrated how detached they have become from their children.
How telling was it when Jon, while leaving the bakery, said how nice it was to spend time as a family. He then tried to back track by saying that we do that at home anyway, but by then the cat was out of the bag – obviously they don’t have a lot of “family” time at this juncture.
While the idea of taking kids to a bakery for their birthday and then not letting them eat the cupcakes is bad enough, I was most appalled when Kate, while making her twins wear shoes that were too small, called Maddy "stupid" and then humiliated her by telling Jon to call his daughter who is whining about her shoes. Are you kidding me?? And how does a parent not know when a child has outgrown his or her shoes??
These two, especially Kate, have grown into ungrateful, detached, narcissistic people. I think at this point, it may well be best if we all boycotted the show until Figure 8/TLC gets J&K some desperately needed help – and I don’t mean additionally babysitters.

What kind of a raging bitchface lets her boys spend all day decorating their birthday cupcakes and then doesn't let them eat the cupcakes? That is so sad. Even Jon had his bitchface on when he said they didn't even ask for them again the next day. Gee, I wonder why. They probably thought they'd end up in a time out for asking twice. And to top it all off, THAT was the entire birthday celebration for their 4th birthday! So what did Kate's sons get for their birthday? A trip to somewhere I seriously doubt they really wanted to go so that the show could get some footage and back home where they got their cake taken away for the offense of not eating dinner. Can you imagine how disappointed those boys were? Even Jon got to have some.

I don't understand Kate at all. She said herself that she was overdisciplined and Jon was underdisciplined and they were trying to find a happy medium. Then she turns around and takes the kids own birthday cake away from them. Sad. I wonder if Kate ever thinks that her own kids could feel that they were treated unfairly and wind up estranged from her in the same way she is from her own parents. I doubt it since she seems to think she's always right.

I will be VERY curious to see what the relationship is between those kids and their parents when they grow up. Especially the boys and Mady.

I want to see Kate wearing a free EmTanner shirt a few episodes from now, that says "Let Them Eat Cupcakes!"

To be fair, they did have a birthday party on their actual day as a family. This wasn't their only celebration.

This episode made me so mad! I hate the way Kate treats the boys & favors the girls. I hate how they talk bad about everything the kids make or do. If I were the owner of the bakery I would have been FURIOUS! She opened on a sunday especially for them, had stuff planned for them to do, (a cupcake for now, one to take home then the cake) then doing it all while Kate sat there bad mouthing them, talking about the food coloring & telling them not to make a mess & only allowing them one cupcake to take home. What did you think was going to happen at a BAKERY KATE?!?!?!??? You really thought it wouldnt have sugar or food coloring or be messy REALLY???? Then to not let them all have them! I wanted to cry for the boys! She sat there & fed Hannah to make sure she got hers then probably threw the boys away! She is horrible & I can hardly stand to watch the show anymore bc of her!

I just don't understand what these producers are thinking. Usually, these episodes seem to have a 50/50 ratio (this varies) of decent Kate/horrible Kate. This particular episode was 100% evil evil Kate. Why would TLC want to portray their model matriarch in such a way? Now, please don't think that I am defending her. I think she's awful. But, they usually manage to throw some positive footage of her into each episode. This one had nothing. Bitchfest from start to finish. Makes me think that she's not giving them anything to work with. So sad.

Serena,

I would laugh at your Grinch if I wasn't still so upset about the show last night!

I am a pretty tough person, but I don't think I can watch it anymore. The only reason I do is to see how the kids seem to be doing...not well!

Oh Serena...sad, sad!

TO BE FAIR????? yeah, right

Mother didn't want to be at the bakery. The first thing she did was sit her butt on a chair...that rolls!!! And then came the complaining!

They had a birthday party? Jon and Kate were on a speaking engagement out of town on their birthday.

Where was the party? Who was there? Which nanny threw it?

I think Katie Irene really loved the rolling chair. I look for her to hint that her white chair would be so much better with wheels. Maybe some office suppy company will send her one of those expensive ergonomic chairs for free! Well, you can't expect her to pay for it, can't you?

Tell me, DARCY! How do you know they had their own family birthday party on the actual day?? Impossible because J&K were in Maryland that weekend on a speaking engagement. Yep! That's right! They couldn't even take the weekend off to celebrate their birthday! Money is more important than the kids ya know! Watch the episode again and you'll see on the calendar for May 10 they went to Bounce U and Dinner. J&K can't be in two places at the same time, so presumably they were taken care of by Nanny, friend, or family member.

Nice try at defending them though. The reality is they suck as parents and they really couldn't care less about those kids. If anyone had any doubts, they made it crystal clear during last night's episode.

But what about Kate letting the twins eat their cupcakes at the bakery?!? Mady and Cara ate theirs in secret.
Mady was a mess, but since she is a girl. It's ok.

Fiona said: TO BE FAIR????? yeah, right

It is pretty silly to suggest anyone be fair on this particular blog. In Darcy's defense, Jodi's sister did confirm that Jodi went to an actual family birthday for the tups, whether or not on their actual birthday I don't know. Everyone takes that word as gospel (meaning I'm surprised no one will accept it) except where it confirms that maybe J/K didn't do something quite so terrible. How's that for fair?

Aaden broke my heart last night when he found out that he wasn't getting his cupcake. And then to have to sit there and watch the girls eat thiers???!! I've only just recently in the last week started researching the Gosselin family online and last night was the first episode i've watched since i started researching them. Boy did I watch the show differently last night...nothing but bullshit.

Well, Kate may have finally gone over to the dark side, where no amount of editing can make her look, well, normal. Good luck, with this one, Jen. The gravy train may finally have jumped the track.

What WAS that comment about Kate not wanting to sit in the middle of the room? Does she think the camera will be able to get a 360 view of her? That was a weird comment. I think she just didn't want to be away from her Hannah.

"How do you know they had their own family birthday party on the actual day?? Impossible because J&K were in Maryland that weekend on a speaking engagement."

J&K were with their children on their actual bday. Jodi and her kids took gifts down (Kevin was working). No one else was there, no cake and no real "party". They then went to the Bounce place alone and I guess did the cake and singing, etc. alone.

The speaking engagement was the next day, and it wasn't far enough away that it required a "weekend" trip.

I'm guessing that the episode last night had to have been filmed on May 18 or later.

Kate's own calendar confirmed that Bounce U and dinner were on the 10th - the tups' actual birthday.

I hope the little ones had some fun that night.

I believe that Kate was grim because she had to tape a show about the tups' birthday. Kate was exhausted. She didn't want to work that day. So she made everyone around her as miserable as possible. Kate, if you're going to pimp out your kids to make a living, at least get with the program. Maybe we all should just send love offerings so she doesn't have to stand up and move around to make a living. Think how exhausting life must be for the children. No wonder they fuss and cry. But, hey, it's all about crazy Kate and her loser husband.

TRUTH,
I misunderstood about the parents being home for the birthday. I am glad for that.

My God, it just gets worse with every episode! It is SO obvious that they (J & K, producers) are fully aware of the criticism on this and other boards by the way they censor themselves.

OH! Did you catch that kiss of death Kate gave poor little Joel? They were climbing into the van and she jerked his head back to give him a kiss and wrestler hug in front of the camera. It was so obviously an effort to show her being loving to the poor little boy she made lie on the laundry room floor when he was so ill.

But Jon is just as bad if not worse. He SEES the issues that Kate has but his only action is to bitch at her. Jon, grow a pair and take care of your family! Your wife obviously needs help. If you love her and your kids, pull the plug on this fiasco now before you do irreparable damage to your children.

Truth,

Thank you for clearing that up. I just assumed they were away for the whole weekend because of the speaking engagement. It's nice to know they DID spend their actual birthday with them. However, it's strange that Jodi was the only family member at their little celebration. Where was Beth? Can you find out if there's been a falling out? It appears so.
